PASSING THE GAVEL
Since founding Grogan & Company in 1987, two constants for me have been to provide first-rate, memorable service for our clients, and to surround myself with knowledgeable, enthusiastic colleagues. Building our company with a skilled team while serving our valued clients over the past 37 years has been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined as a bright eyed 30-year-old. From the corner of Charles and Beacon Streets here on Beacon Hill, the view from Grogan & Company, both forward and back, is magnificent.
With that in mind, it is with great pleasure that I pass the helm along to my admired colleague Georgina C. Winthrop. A Boston native, Georgina joined Grogan & Company nearly a decade ago after graduating from Harvard College with a degree in History of Art and Architecture. Most recently, she has served as our Fine Art Director and Vice President, doubling our annual fine art sales while running the day-to-day operations of our business. She has been an integral part of Grogan & Company’s growth and success.
I am pleased to announce that as of January 1, 2023, Georgina is the new owner of Grogan & Company. Her leadership, along with her top-notch team, has kept the ship sailing in an outstanding direction. Our spring auction season totaled over $3.5 million, with 30% of lots sold above their estimates, and a 90% sell-through rate. I trust her tenure will be as enriching, fun, and memorable as my term has been.
I have been working in the auction world since I was 21, and it is forever in my blood. Going forward, you can expect to continue to see me at Grogan & Company, out and about in museums, and at art world events. My commitment to the success of Grogan & Company is as strong as ever, and I look forward to working alongside Georgina and her team to best serve you, our clients, for many years to come.
Respectfully,
Michael B. Grogan, Founder michael@groganco.com David KrieghoffPASSING THE GAVEL

Over the past decade at Grogan & Company, I have had the opportunity to work closely with thousands of buyers and sellers, building and maintaining relationships with clients around the world. I have learned the ins and outs of our business from my colleague and mentor Michael Grogan, while running our fine art department and overseeing our company’s strategy, operations, and growth.
I purchased Grogan & Company from Michael because I believe in our business model: we are an independent, boutique auction house with a global reach. We routinely achieve top-of-market prices for our consignors. In the past three years, we have seen tremendous bidder demand for works of exceptional quality and provenance across collecting categories. I anticipate similarly strong results in our upcoming fall auction season, and I invite you to join us by consigning your fine art, jewelry, or rugs with Grogan & Company.
My team and I represent the next generation of the auction business. Grogan & Company is at the forefront of technological advancements in our industry, but we have not lost sight of the importance of the human touch. A focused and individualized approach has underscored all that we do, and will continue to guide us in the future.
Whether you live around the corner from our gallery or across the country, our goal is to treat you like a valued neighbor. Going forward, please do not hesitate to email me directly should Grogan & Company be able to assist you. I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Georgina C. Winthrop, President georgina@groganco.com Marsden Hartley Wild White Rose 1936, oil, 16 x 12 in. SOLD $343,750AUCTION CALENDAR
