A first comment about “First do no harm” (in Latin “Primum no nocere”): The very first tenet(promise) of the Hippocratic oath(for physicians & surgeons) is First do NO harm... Not everybody takes this oath or promise...This is important to know...When in doubt, ask:”did you promise to first do no harm???”...Ask your doctor, the person running a clinical trial, the surgeon who is telling you facts, ask... Why? Because if they haven’t they could be dangerous... Dangerous? yes, dangerous... At the very moment when a doctor is cutting into a rat on purpose to give it a disease, in order to run a clinical trial, that doctor has done harm... At the very moment when a chimpanzee is given the Aids virus on purpose to study how it fights it, harm has been done first... At the very beginning of any clinical trial, if a drug is given to people who do not need it, harm has been done... Hurting someone on purpose is a violation of all that is noble & true in the Medical Arts, the art of healing... Healers, artists of healing do not do harm first...
