SUMMER PROGRAMS GUIDE

GROVESACADEMY.ORG/SUMMER

Dear Families, Groves Academy’s mission is to build confidence, success, and purpose through transformative learning experiences. We fulfill our mission through our work with students who come to our school from September through early June, as well as through our Institute for Professional Learning, which forms literacy partnerships with local schools, and through our Learning Center that offers a variety of services to students and families in the community who do not attend our school. These three programs will positively impact the lives of over 10,000 children this year. One of our most popular Learning Center services is our summer programs. Our very own teachers and Groves-trained teachers teach the classes; therefore they understand students who learn differently. Students who do not like school tend to love coming to Groves in the summer. For many, it will be their first positive school experience and they quickly realize they are smart and capable, translating to a completely different outlook about school. To watch reluctant students become excited learners during the course of a summer is a testament to our students’ resolve, as well as our teachers’ expertise. Groves is a special place and we invite you to come in to learn more about what the summer holds. Thank you for considering us.

John Alexander Executive Director

Curtis Olufson Director of Summer Programs

ABOUT OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS During the summer, we are pleased to offer students from the community the same tailored, high quality Groves Academy education that we provide to our full-time students during the school year. Our summer programs, taught by Groves-trained teachers, employ our proven philosophy of developing strengths and talents, remediating academic weaknesses, and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. By using our research-based curriculum, while maintaining small class sizes, we help students close the gap between their academic potential and achievement. We offer programs for children entering grades 2-11 who have learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, and attention disorders, such as ADHD.
