Methodology English is taught through the communicative method, guaranteeing a constant learning experience both during the set lessons and throughout all other socio cultural activities. The quality of the academic programme is further emphasised and improved by the availability of IT facilities on campus.
Plus English Courses • 15 hours per week of dynamic and interactive lessons • Qualified and experienced EFL teachers • All course books and learning materials included • Small classes with great attention to individual needs The PLUS courses give students a great balance between studying English and an action- packed activity and excursion programme. There are 15 hours of lessons per week, with a maximum of 15 students per group. The lessons are fast-paced, exciting and contemporary, and are designed to focus on building your communication skills and confidence in using English. Outside the class, students participate in a range of engaging activities, excursions and sports tournaments organized by our leisure team. The time table is structured to keep students as active as possible at all times of the day. On successful completion of the programme, students graduate and receive a PLUS Course Certificate. As a provider of British Council and ABLS accredited courses, it is our mission to raise the standard and quality of our student experience, making sure that they experience the best lessons and extra- curricular activities in a safe and supervised environment. Full Immersion Course This course is tailored for students with good intermediate English who desire to learn another subject in English. Usually they are aged 16 and above. During their stay there will be certain afternoons with lessons specialising in: public speaking, learning techniques and essay preparation. During the course the students will undergo a group assignment, an essay and a presentation whereby they can show off their newly learnt skills. The students also have the option to participate in the Open University where they can meet the admission offices to some of the most prestigious universities in the US. Teaching:

Within your Plus college The Academy will give you the possibility to choose your own pathway including plenty of sporting activities and excursions.

Multi Sport Courses: An ideal course where you can insert a variety of different sports during your stay with us such as: football, tennis, rugby, basketball, baseball and rounders. (Available in Canterbury, Loughborough, Bath).

Performing Arts: Bring out the artist that’s in you! Together with drama teachers and choreographers you will be able to learn how both front and back stage work in theatre and in dance shows. The College Campus Accommodation Staying within a college gives you the perfect opportunity to experience real college life. This will fully immerse you in campus life as you will be using all available facilities and living within the main campus thus enabling you to reach classes, cafeteria, pitches and discos all by foot. This therefore makes it an ideal location, not only for studying but to fully enjoy the free time that you get with old and new friends, from all over the world.
Team Plus CAMPUS MANAGER: This person will supervise all activities and coordinate the Staff team of Plus. LEISURE ORGANIZERS PLUS: Our leisure team involves itself as much as possible with the students in order to offer them the best sporting events, games, afternoon activities and evening events. COACH PLUS: With as much creativity as possible the Plus coaches will set out a series of different courses dedicated to helping you to have the best possible time. These include dance, theatre, film, singing and photography.

The Family A perfect choice for those who want to experience what it means to live in the city where the campus is located. Often host families live between 15 and 50 minutes away from the college so this will expand students’ experience even further as they will learn how to use public transport etc. Living in a family will push you to speak English even more as you will be communicating with your host family all the time and you will also learn a lot about the country’s characteristics and features.
Choosing a family Thanks to the presence of the Plus coordinators, who monitor and select the families, you are guaranteed a family that will do its best to optimise your stay and assure you lovely hospitality.
The environment Host families offer a cordial, clean and kind environment and are available to help students with anything they can. Breakfast and Dinner are moments to share your day with the family whereas for lunch the host family will provide students with a packed lunch. Alternatively, students may request to eat their lunch on campus (this is available upon request).

Time Out Never ending fun
Language courses in another country are the perfect way to strengthen oral and written skills, but a Plus experience will teach you that you can also continue learning outside of the classroom. Apart from lessons, we offer you the opportunity to continue learning whilst having a lot of fun in sport activities, excursions and visiting interesting attractions.
Discovering the world Learning a language means that you can discover the culture and the city that hosts you including its museums, parks, historic buildings, skyscrapers and much more. Every study holiday includes excursions in amazing cities like London, Edinburgh and San Francisco with a different programme.
Rugby-Dance-Theatre Every day after your lessons at the college, you will be able to participate in a variety of different events, choose the one you prefer! Plus offers expert teachers in rugby, theatre lessons, dance or aerobics. This way you continue to learn whilst having fun outside the classroom.

Academy Royal High School Bath, one of England’s most beautiful cities, is in south west England about an hour from London. Designated by UNESCO as a world Heritage Site, Bath has a variety of theaters, museums and other cultural venues including the world famous Roman Baths. Numerous cafes, bistros, sophisticated shops and boutiques make Bath one of the most interesting and elegant sights in Europe. The PLUS centre is located at the leading school for girls in the area. It is just outside the city centre and it can be easily reached by bus which stops right in front of the school. The Campus is self contained and all facilities are within easy walking distance. This peaceful centre is particularly suited to younger students who benefit from the safety and the location of the closed campus.

Academy & Home Stay University of Kent Canterbury is a historic city in south east England, about an hour from London. It is world famous for its magnificent cathedral - a World Heritage Site. Surrounded by its original Roman walls, Canterbury is home to traditional cobbled streets and many medieval buildings of great historical significance. Canterbury has also developed into a vibrant university city, with an excellent shopping centre and a huge variety of cafes, restaurants and attractions. The PLUS campus in Canterbury is built on 300 acres of parkland overlooking the city. Modern buildings are surrounded by open green spaces, courtyards, gardens, ponds and woodland, with a beautiful view across Canterbury. It is a lovely environment for students to both study and relax. The Canterbury campus is self- contained, which means that all facilities are within walking distance. If you want to explore the city, it is less than 20 minutes’ walk from the campus.

Chelmsford, the county town in Essex, is in the east of England, approximately 50 km from London. It has a wide range of things to do and see locally, it also provides a perfect place to explore Essex. Historic castles, seaside resorts, river walks, and sailing of the centres are only a few of the attractions. The landscape has provided the inspiration for many famous writers and artists, including Charles Dickens, Guglielmo Marconi, John Constable or Francis Bacon. The PLUS centre is located in Writtle College, 3 km outside of Chelmsford. The campus is surrounded by landscaped grounds, individually designed gardens and working animal units. Set around a quiet village of green spaces, there are specialist shops, traditional pubs and period houses which all contribute to its quaint image. Just 40 minutes away from London and with good access to international airports, Writtle combines the best of English countryside living with proximity to the great metropolis.

TERMS & CONDITIONS 1 BOOKING CONDITIONS By submitting the Booking Application, the Agent formally agrees to abide by PLUS Terms & Conditions set herein . 2 DEPOSITS If the booking is accepted, the Agent must pay, by the date indicated, a non-refundable deposit of £ 120.00 for UK and $ 120.00 for USA per person upon confirmation of the booking. Failing this, the places will be automatically released with no further communication. Partial payments, payment falling short of the full amount due and/or notification of payments will not be sufficient to retain bookings. The deposit paid will be deducted from the total amount due to be paid 21 days before arrival (please refer to par 7). 3 PRICES All prices are exclusive of any value added or any sales tax or any other tax which may become applicable and for which the Agent shall be additionally liable. 4 SERVICES In return for the payment of the appropriate fees PLUS will provide board, tuition and activities as specified on the website. In these circumstances PLUS shall either offer equivalent services/facilities or refund in full all fees paid. No other claims for compensation or expenses can be considered. Neither PLUS, nor the Agent shall be in any way liable to the client if a service cannot be supplied by reason of industrial dispute, or other cause outside their control. There is no reduction in the course fee where a course includes a public holiday. 5 INSURANCE The Agent shall, at its own expense, obtain and maintain throughout the duration of the courses an insurance cover for public liability, event and personal injury liability to or the death of any person and any loss or destruction of or damage to property not attributable to any fault or neglect of the clients with an insurance company of repute. Copies of all such insurance policies and evidence that all premiums have been paid shall be presented on PLUS’ demand and must be in English. 6 WARRANTY & LIABILITY PLUS, its staff and representatives will not be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury to persons or property however caused, except where such liability is imposed by statute. Clients must have personal insurance against medical expenses, third parties, travel insurance, including inability to attend or continue a course. 6.1 STUDENT WELFARE AND GROUP LEADERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES PLUS only accepts closed groups accompanied by their group leader. Except for Intensive English bookings (UK), the Group Leader must be at least 25 years old and speak fluent English. The Group Leader is the ultimate person responsible for supervising his/her group constantly day and night and must comply with the student welfare, security and safety rules set by PLUS. Group leaders’ duties and responsibilities are well defined and encompassed in the Handbook. Agents/schools are required to hand it out to their selected staff members, draw their attention to the student Welfare paragraph and ultimately invite them to sign a statement of acceptance prior to their departure. 7 PAYMENTS The balance with final number of students is due 21 days before the arrival date. Payments must be credited to the PLUS bank account, without deduction or setoff and free from any taxes, levies or other charges or encumbrances. If the sums due are not accredited on the

date indicated, all agent’s bookings are subject to immediate release and the deposit paid will be forfeited to PLUS. If by the term indicated on relevant invoice (s) the Agent fails to pay for clients, staff booked over and above the places initially secured at the centre or for any extra services requested, PLUS is entitled to cancel or suspend any further service to the Agents’ clients at any or all the centres. 8 CANCELLATION FEES In case of cancellation, the deposit paid is forfeited to PLUS. For places cancelled the following penalties will be levied. If the booking is cancelled between: • 21 days before arrival, loss of deposit paid • 15 days before arrival, 70% • 7 days before arrival, 100% of the total package cost. 9 SCHOOL REGULATIONS PLUS uncompromisingly prohibits illicit drugs, violence, racism, classroom disruption and dishonesty. No drugs, tobacco products or alcohol are permitted at any centre, function or when on excursions. Clients are expected to abide by the College disciplinary regulations, and demonstrate reasonable standards of conduct within and outside the classroom. Failure to do this may result in expulsion from the course. In this event, no refunds become applicable. 10 VISA STUDENTS If , in spite of a PLUS sponsorship letter, the British Embassy or American Embassy does not grant a visa, PLUS shall reimburse the initial deposit of £ 120.00 for UK and $ 120.00 for USA upon receiving a copy of the formal Embassy document confirming such refusal. Cancellation charges still apply (please refer to par 8). 11 COMPLAINTS APPLICABLE TO UK Over the years PLUS has been able to fully respond to students’ requirements and to minimize cause for complaints. This does not necessarily mean, however, that something cannot go wrong. If a student is unhappy or dissatisfied with any part of the programme ie teaching, leisure activities, host family and so on, he/she should observe the following procedure: STEP 1 Discuss the problem with his/her leader who will report the problem to the Campus Manager, who should solve it within 36 working hours. STEP 2 If the problem persists, the student can call or ask his/her group leader to contact PLUS Head office (0207 7302223 ). Necessary steps will then be taken without delay. STEP 3 If the problem still cannot be solved, then the student may refer the complaint to: ABLS PO BOX 312, GREAT YARMOUTH NR30 9EP. The complaint can also be sent to British Council: Customer Services, Accreditation Unit Bridgewater House, 58 Whitworth Street, Manchester M1 6BB, UK. Or e-mailed to: accreditation.unit@britishcouncil.org The complaint must be written in English, specifying whether action has already been taken by PLUS, and signed. The student should also state whether he/she is happy for the complaint to be copied to PLUS. 12 FORCE MAJEURE If PLUS or the Agent is affected by Force Majeure it shall forthwith notify the other party of the nature and extent thereof. Neither party shall be deemed to be in breach of this Agreement, or otherwise be liable to the other, by reason of any delay in performance, or non performance, of any of its obligations. 13 PROPER LAW These Terms & Conditions are construed in accordance with the English Law. All disputes, controversies or claims shall be referred to and finally settled under the rules of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce of London by three arbitrators appointed in accordance with those Rules that are known and accepted by the Parties. It is hereby agreed that the Commercial Court of London shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any judicial proceedings howsoever related to the interpretation of these Terms & Conditions which may not be deferred to arbitration.
