CAT ® MARKETING: CUSTOMER SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL GUIDELINE HOW YOU CAN HELP PROTECT AND BUILD OUR CATERPILLAR® BRAND Quality. Reliability. Durability. These adjectives are all associated with not only our products, but also our service, support and employees. The Caterpillar and Cat design marks are often the customer’s and world’s first connection to us. Consistent use of Caterpillar’s trademarks strengthens our brand, enhances our ability to protect the brand marks and guards against dilution and risk of loss of registration rights. With everyone’s help, we can have a positive impact on brand management and collectively achieving our key business objectives with a clear and consistent visual image and clear brand identity. These guidelines are to be followed in all advertising, marketing and promotional materials, displays, posters, flyers, ad specialty items and packaging material (basically all material that is not bags and cargo) bearing the Cat or Caterpillar® name or trademark. It is prohibited to open Cat Monobrand stores or Shop-in-shop retail corners without written authorization by Cat Inc. All conditions and rules to be asked on request.

OUR TYPE: TYPOGRAPHY Typography helps bring a consistent Caterpillar image to our communications. Caterpillar’s preferred standard typeface is from the Univers family. Preferred typestyles are Univers 47, 57 and 67. For internal communications such as presentations, posters, etc., other typefaces can be used. Some of the classic families are Arial Narrow, Caslon, Garamond, Century, or Bodoni. They’re readily available and easily readable, so they’re ideal.

LEGAL LINE Proper use of our trademarks is the key to legally protecting our valuable assets and achieving a consistent brand expression of Caterpillar products and services worldwide. The legal line needs to go on all advertising and marketing materials unless otherwise noted. A copyright notice must be included on every publication.

LOGO GUIDELINES Distributor’s logos may be placed only on the bottom of the publication and may not be any larger than 50 percent of the size of the Cat logo. ADVERTISEMENTS (including trade show banners, billboards, POS) All intended placement for advertisements must be approved by GROWN UP Licenses. Follow these rules for advertisements: 1. You must submit the concept image – in PDF format – to Cat Bags and include the following information: a. The name of the intended publication(s) or location of the proposed advertisement b. The date(s) of placement c. A translation if the material is in a language other than English. 2. Production samples are required of all materials. For large items (such as billboards, roll-ups, banners), reproductions of high quality images in A4 or A3 format are acceptable.

THE DESIGN MARK Caterpillar has four registered trademarks that serve as the primary elements of our corporate identity system: two design marks and two word marks. All brochures, catalogs, e-mail blasts, etc. featuring merchandise must be submitted to GPL for approval before use/production. Make sure the proper design mark appears in one of the corners of the publication as a signature. •

All merchandise for the Caterpillar family (dealers, employees, etc.) must contain the Cat design mark.

Merchandise for sale at retail to the general public must contain the retail flag logo.

For example, never use a triangle as a design element or use a “C” as a separate element. 2. Never use the design mark within a sentence.
