Propulsion is a way of moving in water. To propel yourself forwards or backwards you need to use your arms and legs. Sliding is a way of moving that requires an external element (rollerblades, a surfboard, etc.) or a certain type of surface.

6 Look at the pictures and write propulsion or sliding in your notebook. Then, answer the questions.

Traditional games

Games have changed a lot over time, haven’t they?

People originally played traditional games to simulate the everyday activities they did in the countryside. You play these games outside and you don’t need any special equipment or material. They involve running, throwing, dragging or pushing objects, lifting weights or keeping your balance.

The characteristics of a diet

To follow a diet you have to pay attention to the type and quantity of food you eat.

Your diet is the type of food you usually eat. All living creatures have a diet. Having a good diet doesn’t mean losing weight. It means eating a healthy and balanced combination of foods.

1

Read the receipt. Which foods form part of a balanced diet? Compare your answers as a class. Discuss which ones you think are correct.

There are carbohydrates in pasta and legumes. There is fat in butter and oil. And there is fibre in vegetables and fruits.

3 Which foods form part of a healthy mid-afternoon snack? Write them in your notebook. Explain your choices.

Simple and complex jumps

To jump, get momentum and lift your feet off the ground.

There are two types of jump. One type is easier and the other is more difficult. • You do simple jumps from the ground or a stable surface, with no other movement. • You do complex jumps from the ground or a stable surface, combined with twists or movements in the air during flight. You do some jumps with the help of a support element, like a vault or springboard.

The characteristics of impersonation

When you watch a film or a play, you sometimes think it’s real, not fiction!

Impersonation is when you use words and body language to imitate real people or fictional characters as realistically as possible. They can be people who are alive now or people from the past.
