PRESENTACIÓN PRESENTATION

La cuarta edición del ANUARIO DE JOYERÍA CONTEMPORÁNEA ya está en nuestras manos. Parece que fue ayer cuando empezábamos con este proyecto volcando toda nuestra ilusión en él… y ya han pasado tres años. Tres años llenos de trabajo y esfuerzo, pero también llenos de nuevas experiencias, nuevas oportunidades y, sobre todo, nuevos amigos. Nos enorgullece ver la positiva respuesta que el mundo de la joyería contemporánea ha dado a este proyecto y estamos agradecidos, por encima de cualquier cosa, por la cariñosa y afable acogida que hemos recibido por parte de los miembros de este gran colectivo: artistas, galeristas, organizadores de eventos… Hemos crecido como proyecto, pero hemos crecido todavía más como seres humanos gracias a la aportación de todas estas maravillosas personas con las que tratamos cada día. Con la energía que esta experiencia nos brinda, presentamos este nuevo compendio de creatividad, arte y trabajo. Una gran reunión de artistas que nos abren sus corazones a través de sus obras. ¡Disfrútenlo!

The fourth edition of the CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK is already in our hands. It seems it was yesterday when we started this project focusing all our excitement on it… and it’s already been three years. Three years full of work and effort, but also full of new experiences, new opportunities and, above all, new friends. We are proud seeing the positive response that the world of contemporary jewellery has given to this project and we are grateful, above anything, for the loving and friendly welcome we received from the members of this great collective: artists, gallery owners, events organizers... We have grown as a project, but we have grown even more as human beings thanks to the contribution of all these wonderful people we deal with every day. With the energy that gives us this experience, we present this new compendium of creativity, art and work. A great collection of artists who open their hearts to us through their works. Enjoy it!

El Premio Internacional Arte y Joya perfila su personalidad más investigadora. Los candidatos son los artistas participantes en el Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea. El premio recibe el nombre de la revista decana del Grupo Duplex.

The International Arte y Joya Award outlines its researcher personality. Candidates to it are the artists participating in the Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook. The award takes its name from the dean magazine of Grupo Duplex.

La elección siempre es reñida porque las propuestas representan un verdadero laboratorio de creatividad, en la que queremos reconocer la importancia de la joyería contemporánea como punta de lanza en el desarrollo del sector.

The election is always hard-fought because the proposals represent a veritable laboratory of creativity, in which we recognize the importance of contemporary jewellery as spearhead sector development.

El acto de entrega se realiza en el marco de JOYA, Contemporary Jewellery Week, el contexto ideal para destacar los artistas que se abren camino en todo el mundo.

The award ceremony is performed under JOYA, Contemporary Jewellery Week, which is the ideal context for highlight the artists who make their way around the world.

Suelo trabajar por mi cuenta, en el silencio del taller, necesito compartir ideas, investigación y trabajo para saber las críticas y reacciones de otros acerca de los mismos. ARIANA GARRIDO HERRERA La artista vive en las Islas Galápagos donde tiene su taller en Tortoise Jewelry en la isla Santa Cruz. CECILIA CARRASCO GÓMEZ Construyo piezas únicas derivadas del estudio de elementos mecánicos en desuso, transformándolas de piezas utilitarias en una obra poética-artística. It explores the notion of how a circle, the most perfect form, can become imperfect or even more perfect by manipulating it. This concept is translated through the use of simple circular forms that are manipulated, distorted or distressed through a range of processes, largely focusing on silver.

DORU DUMITRESCU The Ring, colección MDF. Expresa la idea de portabilidad y deriva del campo en el empecé y en el que todavía trabajo, la escultura. Soy consciente de que esta es una mala interpretación, pero siempre he vivido con la impresión de que una escultura es más poderosa cuando su proporción no es baja. Por lo tanto, hice una colección que no tiene límites ni en el número de esculturas usables ni en el tamaño de las mismas. The Ring, MDF collection. It is overrunning the idea of wearability, being derived from the field in which I activated and still do, sculpture. I am aware that this is an misinterpretation, but all along I have lived with the impression that a sculpture is more powerful when its proportion is not low. Thus, I made a collection that knows no limit neither on the number of wearable sculptures nor the size of them.

Para hacer los pendientes de la colección Kimono usamos seda original de un antiguo kimono japonés, colocada sobre una madera muy ligera con un proceso particular, que evoca encanto e historia. Los pendientes son asimétricos: un lado tiene un maniquí que llevaba un kimono y el otro lado tiene un símbolo chino que significa luz. Everything thanks to an original idea. To make the earrings of the Kimono collection we use original silk from antique Japanese kimono, laid on a really light wood with a particular process, evoking charm and history. is a trade-only event - addressed to persons and companies who trade in amber jewellery, jewellery art and functional art. Our exhibition covers a wide range of Baltic amber jewellery, silver and gold jewellery with gemstones, diamonds and pearls, decorative stones, silver functional art products, technologies and packaging. AMBERIF is accompanied by side events dedicated to the industry, meetings with the academia during a series of seminars and with artists at the Designers’ Gallery. e top event where the amber always plays the leading part is the Amber Look Gala Show, during which jewellery and fashion designers present special projects outfits for big nights out and casual clothes, which abound in jewellery accessories or emphasise feminine beauty using the modest measures. e 22th edition of AMBERIF in 2015 will be held in MTG’s new main facility - the AMBEREXPO Exhibition and Convention Centre in Gdańsk, Poland.

C2 – el símbolo del diseño contemporáneo Cada año en febrero, INHORGENTA MUNICH abre sus puertas a un fascinante mundo de joyas y relojes. El pabellón C2 juega un papel importante en la feria - un lugar de encuentro y de inspiración para diseñadores de todo el mundo. Para los diseñadores de joyería contemporánea, así como para jóvenes y prometedores talentos, es la plataforma perfecta para un valioso intercambio de ideas y una gran posibilidad de exponer y vender su nuevo e innovador trabajo. Más de la mitad de los expositores del C2 provienen de fuera de Alemania: del 20 al 23 de febrero, diseñadores de España, Portugal, Italia, Polonia, Gran Bretaña, Grecia e Irlanda presentan su filosofía de marca y sus interesantes piezas en stands internacionales conjuntos. Además, la feria reúne a jóvenes talentos y diseñadores de primera calidad ya establecidos, como los pioneros alemanes Angela Hübel, Carl Dau o Marion Knorr, lo que asegura un encuentro beneficioso para ambas partes. Para los jóvenes talentos INHORGENTA MUNICH no 134

Otro punto importante que hace de INHORGENTA MUNICH uno de los eventos más importantes en el mundo de la joyería es el gran énfasis puesto en la comunicación y trabajo en red: por ejemplo, en el ambiente relajado en el Contemporary Design Lounge, la comunidad diseñadora puede disfrutar de un delicioso desayuno mientras discuten las nuevas tendencias y el futuro de la industria de la joyería. INHORGENTA MUNICH, C2 – the symbol of contemporary design Every year in February, INHORGENTA MUNICH opens its gates to a fascinating world of jewellery and watches. A major role plays the pavilion C2 – an inspiring meeting place for designers from all over the world. For contemporary jewellery designers, as well as young promising talents, it is the perfect platform for a valuable exchange of ideas and a great possibility to exhibit and sell their outstanding new products.

More than half of the exhibitors in C2 come from abroad: From 20 to 23 February, designers from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Greece and Ireland present their brand philosophy and intriguing artifacts at joint international stands. Furthermore, the fair brings together young talents and established premium designers such as the German pioneers Angela Hübel, Carl Dau or Marion Knorr, which assures a beneficial get-together for both sides. For young talents INHORGENTA MUNICH is not only a great source of inspiration but also a great chance to call the attention of important influencers in the international industry. One

of these promising new faces is Stephanie Hensle from Germany: the young designer has been awarded with the INHORGENTA MUNICH special price of the renowned Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER 2014 in Poland and therefore gets the chance to exhibit at INHORGENTA MUNICH 2015. IBERJOYA En el mes de Septiembre se celebró en Madrid, bajo el paraguas de la 66 edición de Giftrends, el salón Iberjoya. La muestra reflejó el esfuerzo de las empresas para motivar al sector y sirvió de escaparate de tendencias para la colección otoño/invierno. Uno de los eventos realizados dentro de este salón fue la exposición “Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2013/2014”, que dio una visión única de más de un centenar de artistas provenientes de todo el mundo que se dedican al diseño, la experimentación, las emociones, el arte... en el terreno del ornamento corporal. Todos ellos participantes en la tercera edición del primer anuario impreso de joyería contemporánea del mundo. Esta exposición se convierte siempre en un punto de gran interés al mostrar el mundo de la joyería contemporánea en un ambiente más comercial.

In the month of September was held in Madrid, under the umbrella of the 66th edition of Giftrends, the show Iberjoya. The fair reflected the efforts of the companies to motivate the industry and served as a showcase of trends for the autumn / winter collection. One of the events held in this show was the exhibition “Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2013/2014”, which offered a unique sight to more than one hundred artists from around the world who are dedicated to the design, the experimentation, the emotions, the art... in the field of body ornament. All of them were participants of the third edition of the first printed book in the world of contemporary jewellery. This exhibition always becomes a point of great interest as shows the world of contemporary jewellery in this commercial environment. 139

JOYA - Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair es un evento internacional que presenta una cuidadosa selección de artistas, galerías, colectivos y escuelas relacionadas con el mundo de la joyería de arte. Un evento repleto de actividades tanto para profesionales como para el público en general. El Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea estuvo de nuevo presente en la 5ª edición de JOYA en Octubre, con su nueva edición. Además, disfrutó de un especial protagonismo organizando la entrega del IV Premio Internacional Arte Y Joya durante la feria. Los candidatos fueron los artistas participantes en el Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea 2013/2014. La elección fue reñida porque las propuestas representaron un verdadero compendio de creatividad, queriendo reconocer la importancia de la joyería contemporánea como punta de lanza en el desarrollo del sector. Los miembros del jurado fueron ocho personas estrechamente relacionadas con el mundo del diseño: Amador Bertomeu y Leo Caballero creadores de Klimt02. Paulo Ribeiro y Anthony Chevallier, de Le Département, organizador de JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair. Cristina Roque dos Santos, diseñadora de joyería contemporánea y miembro de la directiva de PIN - Associação Portuguesa de Joalharia Contemporânea. Joan Oliveras, propietario de Bagués-Masriera. Montserrat Lacomba, diseñadora de joyería contemporánea y creadora del blog mardecoLorrosa.com. Sandra Yelo, diseñadora de joyería contemporánea, profesora de joyería en la Escola d’Art del Treball y miembro de la junta de A-FAD.

JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair is an international event with an accurate selection of artists, galleries, collectives and schools related to the world of art jewellery. An event full of activities for professionals as well as the general public. The Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook was again present in the 5th edition of JOYA in Barcelona in October, with its new edition. Also enjoyed a special prominence by organizing the delivery of IV International Arte Y Joya during the fair. The candidates were the artists participating in Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2013/2014. The election was fought because the proposals represented a veritable compendium of creativity, wanting to recognize the importance of contemporary jewelry in the sector development. Members of the jury were eight people closely related to the contemporary design world: Leo Caballero and Amador Bertomeu creators Klimt02. Paulo Ribeiro and Anthony Chevallier, Le Département organizer JEWEL Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair. Estuvo marcado por el buen ambiente, la magnífica organización y la animada actividad por parte de los expositores y los visitantes del salón. Uno de los eventos realizados dentro de este salón fue la exposición “Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2013/2014”, que dio una visión única de más de un centenar de artistas provenientes de todo el mundo que se dedican al diseño, la experimentación, las emociones, el arte... en el terreno del ornamento corporal. Al igual que en anteriores años, esta exposición disfrutó de un gran éxito, convirtiéndose en uno de los puntos álgidos del Salón. En esa línea, el Anuario emprendió hace dos años una nueva actividad con su presencia en Inhorgenta (Hall C2) con un stand propio. Tenemos la oportunidad de presentar en directo el Anuario en una de las plataformas comerciales más interesantes del mundo en cuanto a joyería contemporánea se refiere, dado que el pabellón C2 de Inhorgenta es un referente de la expresión más creativa del sector.

The Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook has always been defined as open to all kinds of initiatives to assist in the promotion of contemporary jewelery and creative projects. In this way, the Yearbook launched two years ago a new activity with its presence in Inhorgenta (Hall C2) with our own stand. We have the opportunity to present the Yearbook in one of the most interesting trading platforms in the world in terms of contemporary jewelery is concerned, since the Inhorgenta C2 Hall is a benchmark of the industry’s creative expression.

Esta ha sido la propuesta del ANUARIO DE JOYERÍA CONTEMPORÁNEA para 2014/2015: innovación, experimentación, interrogación, subjetividad, reflexión… en definitiva, arte en forma de joya. Cada obra posee un concepto, una historia que le dan identidad y razón, expresando los pensamientos más profundos de cada autor, sus experiencias, sus ideas. Este concepto, esta historia se refleja en nosotros, dándonos una nueva visión de la joyería. Queremos dar las gracias a todos los artistas que han ayudado a que este libro sea, de nuevo, una realidad; su talento y su entusiasmo son nuestro motor. Nos contagian su energía, su curiosidad, sus reflexiones… nos dan vida. Por todos ellos, por los que estuvieron antes y por los que están por venir, vamos a continuar adelante con la misma ilusión, poniendo todo el esfuerzo y voluntad en que la joyería contemporánea siga expandiendo sus horizontes.

This has been the proposal of the CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK 2014/2015: innovation, experimentation, questioning, subjectivity, reflection... in short, art in the form of a jewel. Each work has a concept, a story that gives it identity and a reason, expressing the deepest thoughts of each author, their experiences, their ideas. This concept, this story reflects on us and gives us a new vision of the jewellery.
