el placer y el orgullo del asombro, también o quizás más en tiempos de crisis. Otra vez desde Grupo Duplex continuamos fiel a este compromiso con la creatividad a través de una nueva edición del Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook, esta vez la cuarta, y a la también nueva convocatoria del Premio Internacional Arte y Joya. Fallado por un jurado independiente, permitirá el reconocimiento a uno de los artistas de nuestra comunidad, del que tendremos noticia en octubre, en el marco del evento Joya en Barcelona.

Y es que todos los materiales y herramientas de la joyería, desde la humilde y sufrida astillera. se muestran tan íntimos y dúctiles en manos de la creatividad que no es extraño que profesionales de otras ramas, como arquitectos, pintores, diseñadores gráficos… queden prendidos en su magia. Tengo constancia personal de ello hasta en mi propio círculo familiar y de amigos. Y esta magia también se transmite a la pieza creada y a quien la porta con orgullo.

Yet again, we at Grupo Duplex remain faithful to this commitment to creativity through a new edition of the Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook,

the fourth one, as well as the new call for participation in the Arte y Joya International Prize. Determined by an independent jury, this prize recognises one of the artists in our community, and the winner will be announced in October as part of the Joya fair in Barcelona.

Indeed, all the materials and tools of jewellery, down to the humble, hardworking bench pin, are so intimate and ductile in creative hands that it should come as no surprise that professionals in other branches, such as architects, painters and graphic designers, are captivated by their magic. I have personal proof of this in my own circle of family and friends. And this magic is conveyed in every piece created and by the person who proudly wears it. A unique piece, a Pandora’s Box of inspiration and of our dreams, a good sampling of which can be found in this issue of Arte y Joya. Enjoy them with us. It is a pleasure to share this effervescent cocktail of ideas and designs which make up the Yearbook.

‘Caricias’ / ‘Caresses’ Chiqui Peña Gaditano de nacimiento y formado en Barcelona, tras trabajar en peluquería y maquillaje se introdujo en el mundo del estilismo y actualmente trabaja para revistas nacionales e Internacionales. Ha colaborado con celebrities como Renata Zanchi, Sergio Ramos o Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.

A native of Cádiz and trained in Barcelona, after working in hair styling and makeup he joined the world of styling and today works for both national and international magazines. He has worked with celebrities like Renata Zanchi, Sergio Ramos and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.

Fernando Gómez Sevillano de nacimiento y afincado en Barcelona, pero en constante movimiento por Europa y Nueva York.

Especializado en fotografía de moda y publicidad, trabaja para diversas revistas y dominicales nacionales e internacionales. Considera su trabajo estimulante y enriquecedor.

He was born in Seville and lives in Barcelona but constantly travels around Europe and New York.

Specialising in fashion and advertising photography, he works for numerous magazines and Sunday editions of newspapers in both Spain and abroad. He considers his work stimulating and enriching.

‘La viuda’ / ‘The widow’ Paulo Ribeiro Nacido en Brasil y afincado en Barcelona. Co-director de la agencia creativa Le Département, fundador y organizador de JOYA BARCELONA Art Jewellery Fair, formado en arquitectura con especialización en moda, colabora como director de arteen diversos reportajes gráficos para Arte y Joya.

He was born in Brazil and lives in Barcelona. He is the co-director of the creative agency Le Département and the founder and organiser of the JOYA BARCELONA Art Jewellery Fair. He was trained as an architect with a specialising in fashion and has contributed as an art director to several graphic reports in Arte y Joya.

Gustavo López Mañas Fotografo y realizador fílmico español, ha desarrollado campañas de moda para grandes diseñadores nacionales y marcas internacionales.

A Spanish photographer and film director, he has run fashion campaigns for major national and international designers.

‘Futuro perfecto’ / ‘Future perfect’ Víctor AG y Celia Suárez Víctor y Celia son dos fotógrafos de Barcelona que se conocieron trabajando para la misma agencia de modelos, hace ya mas de 15 años. Sus carreras profesionales se han desarrollado por separado en el ámbito de la publicidad y de la moda, trabajando para grandes agencias publicitarias y revistas de moda. En esta ocasión, la amistad que les une ha ido más allá y han sumado fuerzas para realizar la sesión fotográfica perfecta con “Futuro perfecto”.

Víctor and Celia are two photographers from Barcelona who met working for the same modelling agency 15 years ago. Their careers took their own course in the world of advertising and fashion, and they have worked for major advertising agencies and fashion magazines.

This time, their friendship has gone a step further and they have worked together to hold a perfect photograph sessions for “Future Perfect”.

La tecnología en el punto de venta Nuestro sector se encuentra en una situación muy crítica para recuperar el consumo. Sólo innovando veremos un cambio crucial en la revitalización del mismo. Pero innovar en todo, diseño, producto, precio, presentación, comunicación, logística… y con seguridad me olvidé de apuntar muchas cosas más.

Innovar es símbolo de crecimiento y competencia.

La nueva era es digital. No lo olvidemos, o mejor, metámonoslo en la cabeza. Las posibilidades que nos brinda el mundo digital para reinventarnos son enormes. Con esta nueva fórmula hasta el más pequeño se hace grande y compite con las multinacionales.

Las cadenas están dejando de ser lineales y se convierten en red. Los intercambios de “todo” están a la orden del día: los datos, la logística, la comercialización…

Las nuevas tecnologías abren un mundo nuevo lleno de posibilidades.

Estamos hiperconectados. Las compañías desde el origen tienen la posibilidad de conectar directamente con el comprador final a través de infinidad de dispositivos móviles.

El marketing tiene su era móvil también. El comprador nos está poniendo a prueba sobre cuál es nuestra capacidad de atracción y convencimiento.

Las propuestas de valor innovadoras son las que se van a llevar el “gato al agua” como vulgarmente se dice.

Hay que aceptar los retos. El mundo ha tomado otra dirección y sólo el que sabe labrar el camino encauza tráfico a él.

No nos sentemos a esperar y tampoco volvamos la vista atrás. Corremos el riesgo de convertirnos en “estatuas de sal”. Hay que remontar el vuelo y coger una velocidad de crucero adecuada.

Hoy más que nunca hay que estar más cerca de nuestros clientes, atendiendo sus necesidades de forma rápida y eficaz, y no queriéndoles vender lo que no ha salido antes de los establecimientos o de las fábricas.

Las necesidades y capacidad del mercado son otras.¿Las estamos satisfaciendo? La información es vital, sólo con herramientas cargadas de ella y fiables seremos eficaces.

Pensemos en ejemplos como Storehy en España. Una herramienta de la que somos pioneros en el mundo. Por aquí llega el futuro y a él debemos reengancharnos.

Technology at the point of sale Our sector is faced with a very critical situation to recover consumption. Only by innovative will we see a crucial change in its revitalisation. However, I mean by innovating in everything – design, product, price, presentation, communication and logistics, and I’m sure I’m forgetting many more things.

Innovating is a symbol of growth and competence.

The new era is digital. We cannot forget it, or better yet, we have to get it through our heads. The possibilities available to reinvent ourselves thanks to the digital world are enormous. With this new formula, even the smallest becomes large and competes with multinationals.

Chains are no longer linear and are becoming networks. Exchanges of “everything” are on the agenda: data, logistics, commercialisation…

The new technologies are opening up a new world brimming with possibilities.

We are hyper-connected. From the start, companies have the chance to connect directly with end buyers through infinite mobile devices.

Marketing is having its mobile era, too. The buyer is testing us on our ability to attract and convince them.

Innovative value propositions are the ones that are going to “lead the horse to water”, as is commonly said.

We have to accept the challenges. The world has veered off in a different directions and only those who know how to forge their own pathway channels traffic there.

Let’s not sit and wait, and let’s especially not look backwards. We run the risk of becoming “salt statues”. We have to hoist the sails again and pick up a good cruising speed.

Today more than ever we have to be closer to our clients, meet their needs more quickly and effectively and not try to sell them what has not previously come from the establishments or factories.

The market’s needs and capacity have changed. Are we satisfying it?

Information is vital, and only by using reliable tools laden with information will we be effective.

We can think of examples like Storehy in Spain, a tool in which we are the pioneers in the world. Here comes the future, and we have to latch onto it again.

JeanRichard se une al artista de arte urbano contemporáneo Gully, y para celebrar esta colaboración se inaugurará el 19 de septiembre de 2014, en Opera Gallery, París, la exposición «Philosophy of Art». La exposición contará con las últimas obras de Gully y la colección especial «Graphiscope», fruto de su colaboración con Kering Group.

La firma madrileña Magerit ha escogido la ciudad de Barcelona para inaugurar su primera flagship store en septiembre.

Asentándose en el centro de la ciudad condal junto a Paseo de Gracia, la firma se enorgullece de crear joyería artesanal de alta calidad. Su primera tienda dispone de una sala privada donde se muestran sus piezas y se hacen encargos.

Magerit, first ‘flagship store’

JeanRichard joined forces with the contemporary urban artist Gully. To celebrate this partnership, the exhibition “Philosophy of Art” will be opened on the 19th of September 2014 at the Opera Gallery, Paris. This exhibition features Gully’s latest works and the special “Graphiscope” collection, the outcome of his collaboration with this brand from the Kering Group.

The Madrid-based firm Magerit has chosen the city of Barcelona to open its first flagship store in September. Settling in the middle of Barcelona near Paseo de Gracia, the firm is proud to create highquality artisanal jewellery. Its first shop has a private room to display pieces and take custom orders.

Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 de Chopard Chopard presenta un novedoso reloj dentro del marco de su asociación con Porsche Motorsport como «Official Timing Partner». Se trata de un cronógrafo flyback de raza, concertificado de cronometría COSC, inspirado en los códigos estéticos del nuevo Porsche 919 Hybrid, un coche de carreras producido en una edición limitada de 919 ejemplares.

by Chopard Chopard presents a novel watch issued as part of its partnership with Porsche Motorsport as its “Official Timing Partner”. This is a flybackchronograph with a COSC chronometry certificate.

It was inspired by theaesthetic codes of thenew Porsche 919 Hybrid, a race car manufactured in a limited edition.

Girard-Perregaux y ‘Mechanics of Dreams’ El 20 de junio Girard-Perregaux organizó un exclusivo cóctel en Sinan Mansion, Shanghai, para celebrar su asociación con el Academy Museum of Motion Pictures de Los Ángeles. Durante el evento, primera muestra del museo en China, fueron presentadas por primera vez algunas imágenes y tomas de los archivos de la Academy.

Girard-Perregaux and ‘Mechanics of Dreams’ On the 20th of June Girard- Perregaux hosted an exclusive cocktail party at the Sinan Mansion, Shanghai, to celebrate its association with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures of Los Angeles. During the event, the museum’s first show in China, some images and outtakes from the Academy’s archives were shown for the first time.

Breitling gana la Red Bull Air Race Nigel Lamb, piloto oficial de Breitling, se hizo con la victoria en la Red Bull Air Race que tuvo lugar en Putrajaya (Malasia) en mayo. Lamb es un experto de la acrobacia aérea desde hace más de un cuarto de siglo y defensor de los colores Breitling. Marcó el tiempo más rápido de un minuto y 15,023 segundos en la ronda final de la Final Four.

Breitling wins the Red Bull Air Race Nigel Lamb, an official Breitling pilot, took home the victory in the Red Bull Air Race held in Putrajaya (Malaysia) in May. Lamb has been an expert in air acrobatics for over a quarter of a century and the defender of the Breitling colours. He got the fastest time at one minute and 15.023 seconds in the last round of the Final Four, ousting the champion Hannes Arch.

La marca de alta relojería suiza Audemars Piguet recibió en la manufactura de Le Brassus al cuádruple Balón de Oro, Leo Messi. Embajador de la marca desde 2010, el prodigio argentino del fútbol disfrutó conociendo sus instalaciones para la creación de alta relojería. A brand ambassador since 2010, the Argentine football genius enjoyed getting to know the facilities where the brand’s fine watches are crafted. Accompanied by François-Henry Bennahmias, the CEO of Audemars Piguet, Messi visited the workshops where the limited edition that bears his name is manufactured.

Seiko presenta el nuevo reloj de Novak Djokovic

El nuevo Astron GPS Solar Novak Djokovic Limited Edition de Seiko fue presentado en junio en el torneo celebrado en Stoke Park, previo al Grand Slam de Wimbledon (Londres). El reloj engastado en cerámica negra con correa de silicona extra-fuerte es una edición limitada hecha para el tenista serbio que incluye su nombre y firma en la parte trasera. Está basado en el aclamado cronógrafo que se presentó en Baseworld 2014.

Seiko presents its new Novak Djokovic watch

The new Astron GPS Solar Novak Djokovic Limited Edition from Seiko was presented in June at the tournament held in Stoke Park, prior to the Wimbledon Grand Slam (London). The inlaid black ceramic watch with an extra-strong silicon strap is a limited edition made for this Serbian tennis player which includes his name and signature on the back. It is based on the acclaimed chronograph which was presented at Baselworld in 2014.

En una ceremonia celebrada en la Galería Helga de Alvear de Madrid, la galerista y coleccionista de arte Helga de Alvear recibió el Premio Montblanc de la Cultura 2014 en reconocimiento a su implicación en el mundo del arte contemporáneo, como mecenas cultural y por la creación del Centro de Artes Visuales de Cáceres. Le entregó el premio Jesús Prieto de Pedro, director general de Bellas Artes del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte.

At a ceremony held at the Helga de Alvear Gallery in Madrid, the gallery owner and art collector Helga de Alvear received the 2014 Montblanc Culture Prize in recognition of her involvement in the world of contemporary art, as a cultural patron and for the creation of the Visual Arts Centre of Cáceres. She was given the award by Jesús Prieto de Pedro, the Director General of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

Maurizio Merenda reveals to Arte y Joya the strategies of a brand that has surprised the market with its concept and freshness. Spain is a priority for Stroili, which is destined to revolutionise the way we choose and wear jewellery. ¿Cómo nació Stroili Oro en Italia y cuál es su proyecto?

Nació de una idea de un emprendedor en 1984 que tuvo la idea de abrir tiendas de joyerías en centros comerciales. Después fue comprada por grandes grupos internacionales, entre nuestro accionistas se encuentran el grupo Louis Vuitton, Banca Intesa, Bennetton, grupos que también tiene muchas inversiones aquí en España. Es decir, accionistas que han apostado por esta cadena y la han desarrollado invirtiendo hasta llegar a 370-380 puntos de venta monomarca que tenemos hoy en Italia sobre todo.

Yo llegué hace cinco años y lo que hice fue convertir la cadena de típico retailer en monomarca Stroili. Para hacerlo hemos empezado a cambiar toda la colección de producto, el look de las tiendas haciéndolas mucho más glamurosas, mucho más fashion; a invertir en publicidad sea en TV, prensa, web, etc. Todo muy orientado al mundo de la moda y haciendo productos únicos con un estilo muy particular y posicionándolo como joya aunque no contengan “precioso”. Aunque en Stroili también hacemos joyas con oro y diamantes, aquí en España y en el exterior estamos lanzando solamente la colección bijoux. No está bien decirlo, pero lo que ha hecho Zara en moda, es lo que queremos hacer nosotros con la joyería. Es decir, una mujer inteligente a la que le gusta vestirse bien, salir por la noche, estar bien en la oficina, etc., sabe mezclar un bolso de Chanel con nuestras joyas sin dejarse una fortuna. Para hacer esto nosotros tenemos que tener una imagen muy alta, y el precio, lo más bajo posible. Y por supuesto, siempre con la mejor calidad.

¿Por qué España y cómo está respondiendo en el mercado español?

España siempre ha sido un país muy interesante desde varios puntos de vista... Mujeres lindísimas, gente muy trabajadora. Fui director ejecutivo de Swatch Group hace algunos años y estuve ayudando en España durante un año, así que viajaba aquí muy a menudo y tuve la oportunidad de conocer la cultura española. La gente de aquí se sabe divertir, te hace divertir, y además es muy trabajadora. Es increíble. Este país para mí es una prioridad por las similitudes con Italia en los gustos, con las mezclas. Creo que es el mercado ideal muy cerca de nosotros, sin barreras de aduanas para intentar colocar en la misma mañana lo que se ha colocado en el mercado italiano: marca, moda que se hace notar, exclusividad en el diseño, precio asequible y alta imagen. Ese es nuestro posicionamiento y el mercado responde muy bien. ¿Cuántos puntos de venta tiene actualmente en el mercado español?

Estamos sobre los 100 multimarca. Estamos en fase de crecimiento y esperamos no desilusionar a nuestros socios, que han creído en nuestro proyecto. En breve también estaremos con corners en El Corte Inglés. ¿Tienen tienda propia? De no ser así, ¿piensan tenerla?

No tenemos y de momento no es esa la intención.

Queremos desarrollar y posicionar la marca a través de publicidad, de puntos de venta, de producto, de brand embajadores y redes sociales al igual que lo hemos hecho en Italia. De momento es nuestra intención en España.

Si tuviera que definir la personalidad de Stroili ¿Cómo diría que es?

Alguien que ama lucir, pero que no necesita gastarse una fortuna en ello. Alguien noble. No necesita gastar 5.000 euros para hacer esto y sabe elegir bien. Es una mujer que quiere exclusividad y moda. Entiende de moda y tiene una personalidad muy fuerte.

Si quiero una joya Stroili, ¿cúal es el precio medio que me voy a gastar?

Unos 40-50 euros.

Hablando de mujeres fuertes y con personalidad, ¿Qué valores comparte Ariadne Artiles con Stroili?

Ariadne se viste siempre de Stroili. Es nuestro claim de campaña y es verdad. Está enamorada de la marca. Es muy simpática, da consejos, está muy implicada con la firma, es muy positiva. Con Ariadne compartimos la belleza, la simpatía y el poder conseguirlo sin tanta dificultad.

¿Qué diferencia a Stroili del resto de joyas?

En el mundo nos ven como una alternativa diferente a marcas como Pandora, Swarovski o Tous.

Por una parte están estas marcas respetables, empresas que desde hace muchos años que trabajan muy bien, un poco más clásicas, un poco más básicas, más simples; y de otro lado estamos nosotros con este nuevo concepto de joyería italiana que se presenta mucho más fancy, mucho más fashion. Eso es un poco lo que te dicen en el mundo cuando ven nuestra colecciones. Precios asequibles igual que estas otras marcas, más o menos posicionados como ellos, pero con un estilo mucho más... fast fashion. Es decir, colecciones que se renuevan constantemente y que cuando tienen mucho éxito de venta no caemos en la tentación del conformismo sino que vamos y lanzamos una nueva colección con el propósito de que tenga mucho más éxito que la anterior. A las personas nos encanta renovar.

Retos futuros en España El plan naturalmente es crecer en la distribución de una manera inteligente. Es decir con partners tradicionales, con tiendas plurimarcas. Estar bien representados en Barcelona, en Madrid y en todas las ciudades importantes del país. Invertir en comunicación para hacer que el producto salga rápidamente y cuanto más mujeres empiecen a vestirse de Stroili, creceremos más rápido gracias al efecto boca-oreja. España puede ser uno de nuestros mercados más importantes. Actualmente estamos en China, en Rusia, en Dubai, en Estados Unidos, pero para nosotros en Europa España tiene una importancia número uno.

How was Stroili Oro founded in Italy and what is its mission?

It emerged from the idea of an entrepreneur in 1984 who had the idea of opening up jewellery shops in shopping centres. Afterwards, it was bought by large international groups; our shareholders including the Louis Vuitton group, Banca Intesa, Benetton, groups that also have many investments here in Spain. That is, our shareholders decided to back this chain and they have developed it by investing to the point where we now have 370-380 single-brand points of sale, most of them in Italy.

I came to the company five years ago and I turned it into a typical single-brand Stroili retain chain.

To do this, began by changing the entire product collection, the look of the shops by making them much more glamorous and fashionable, investing in advertising in the TV, written press, online, etc.

Everything was extremely oriented towards the world of fashion with unique products with a style all their own, and we positioned it as jewellery even though it is not “precious”. At Stroili we also make jewellery with gold and diamonds, here in Spain and abroad we are only launching the bijoux collection. It sounds bad to say it, but what Zara has done in fashion is what we want to do with jewellery.

That is, an intelligent woman who likes dressing well, go out at night and looking good at the office knows how to mix a Chanel bag with our jewellery without spending a fortune. To do this, we have to have a very high image with prices that are as low as possible. And, of course, always with the very best quality.>

Why Spain, and how is the Spanish market responding?

Spain has always been a very interesting country from several vantage points: beautiful women, hard-working people. I was the Executive Director of the Swatch Group some years ago and was in Spain for a year, so I often travelled and had the chance to get to know Spanish culture. People here know how to have fun, they make you have fun, too, plus they’re really hard-working. It’s incredible.

This country is one of my priorities because of its similarities to Italy in taste, with mixing. I think it’s the ideal market near us, without any customs barriers, to try to place in the market what was placed in the Italian market the same year: brand, fashion that is noticeable, exclusivity in the design, affordable prices and high image. This is our positioning and the market is reacting really well.

What makes Stroili different than other jewellery?

The world sees us as a different alternative to brands like Pandora, Swarovski and Tous. First, these are respectable brands, companies that have been working well for years, a bit more classical, a bit more basic and simpler. On the other hand we have this new concept of Italian jewellery that is much fancier, much more fashionable. This is what people say when they see our collections.

Affordable prices like these other brands, positioned similarly to tem, but with a much more fast fashion style. By this I mean collections that are updated constantly, and when they sell well we don’t fall into the temptation of staying with them but instead launch a new collection which we hope is even more successful than the previous one. People love to see our new goods.

How many points of sale do you have in Spain right now?

We’ve got over 100 multi-brand points of sale.

We are currently growing and hope not to let our partners who have believed in this project down. We will soon have corners in El Corte Inglés, too.

If you had to define the Stroili personality, how would you do it?

Someone who loves standing out but doesn’t need to spend a fortune to do so. Someone noble does not need to spend 5,000 euros to look good if they know how to choose well. She is a woman who likes exclusivity and fashion.

She understands fashion and has a strong personality.

Do you have your own shops? If not, are you planning to have them?

We don’t have any and right now we have no plans to have any. We want to develop and position the brand via advertising, points of sale, product, brand ambassadors and the social networks, just as we have done in Italy. That’s our intention in Spain for the time being.

If I want to buy a piece of Stroili jewellery, what’s the average price I’m going to pay?

Around 40-50 euros.

What are your future goals in Spain?

Naturally the plan is to grow in distribution but in an intelligent way. That is, with our traditional partners, with multi-brand shops. To be well represented in Barcelona, in Madrid and in all the country’s most important cities. To invest in communication to get our products out quickly, and the more women begin to wear Stroili, the quicker we’ll grow thanks to word of mouth. Spain could be one of our most important markets. Today we are in China, Russia, Dubai and the United States, but for us in Europe Spain is the most important.

The call for participation was launched with very precise specifications, seeking originality, trendiness, practicality, sales appeal and a DNA shared by the brand. More than 100 aspirants joined the fray, and 17 of them were chosen as finalists.

Finalmente el jurado independiente, entre cuyos miembros se ha contado con Petra Marín, como representante de Grupo Duplex, y el diseñador Custo Dalmau, nombró como finalistas los trabajos realizados por Sara Sacco, Monica Toselli y Giuseppe Centra.

Se dio la casualidad de que el jurado, mayormente español y con sede en Barcelona, escogió a creadores italianos, lo que prestigia la tradición del país cuna de Morellato Group.

La colección Tropical de Sara Sacco se alzó con el premio. Todas las piezas se basan en la flor del hibisco, típica de ambientes cálidos de las regiones tropicales y subtropicales. La línea trata de revivir las coronas de Hawai, pero siempre manteniendo la armonía que caracteriza a las joyas de Morellato. Tropical transporta al mundo de las playas más paradisíacas de manera elegante y espíritu contemporáneo.

Finally, the independent jury, whose members included Petra Marín on behalf of Grupo Duplex and the designer Custo Dalmau, named the works by Sara Sacco, Monica Toselli and Giuseppe Centra as the finalists. Coincidentally, the jury members, most of whom are Spanish and work in Barcelona, chose three Italian creators as the finalists, bringing prestige to the tradition of the country where Morellato Group hails from.

Sara Sacco’s Tropical collection took the prize. All the pieces are based on the hibiscus flower, which is typical in warm tropical and subtropical regions. El Museo del Diamante de Brujas presenta hasta el 2 de noviembre de 2014 la exposición “Diamour, 30 años de los Premios HRD”. Un cumpleaños muy especial para celebrar el concurso de joyería más importante a nivel internacional en cuanto a expresión contemporánea del diamante.

La veterana creadora y experta en joyería contemporánea ha abierto un nuevo espacio en Madrid, en la calle Lagasca 33. Un cóctel que reunió a amigos y clientes el 19 de mayo pasado hizo las veces de inauguración oficial.

La revista decana de Grupo Duplex siempre se hizo eco de los Premios HRD que han ofrecido desde hace ahora 30 años la excelencia en cuanto a creatividad internacional se refiere en torno al universo del diamante.

La exposición “Diamour, 30 años de los Premios HRD”, organizada con la colaboración del Consejo Superior del Diamante de Amberes (HRD), reúne, por vez primera en la historia, a ganadores y finalistas de este apreciado galardón que se otorga cada dos años.

Todos ellos en el Museo del Diamante de Brujas, el único en Amberes y uno de los mejores de Europa, desde el 26 de abril hasta el 2 de noviembre.> The exhibition “Diamour, 30 years of the HRD Prizes”, organised in partnership with the Hoge Raad voor Diamant of Antwerp (HRD), is bringing together for the first time in history the winners and finalists in this prized award which is given out every two years. They can all be seen in the Diamond Museum of Bruges, the only one in Antwerp and one of the best in Europe, from the 26th of April until the 2nd of November.>

La tradición de los diamantes en Brujas se extiende casi 650 años, de hecho existe documentación que certifica que en 1370 ya se comercializaban diamantes en bruto.

También como hecho histórico de la ciudad en el siglo XV el orfebre Lodewijk van Berquem inventó el pulido de diamante con polvo de diamantes en un disco giratorio. También el emperador Maximiliano I obsequió a María de Borgoña, duquesa de Borgoña, que tenía su corte en Brujas, por primera vez un anillo de compromiso con diamante.

El Museo del Diamante de Brujas congrega artesanía, ciencia, tecnología y creatividad en torno a los diamantes en joyas. Este museo privado, que cumple en 2014 15 años, es iniciativa del danés John Rosenhøj para preservar en el futuro la artesanía y la habilidad de la industria belga del diamante. Quienes visiten la exposición Diamour podrán también conocer las innovaciones en tecnología láser, un taller de joyería original y asistir a la inauguración del Reloj Mundial de Diamante.

The diamond tradition in Bruges dates back almost 650 years. In fact, there is documentation certifying the fact that diamonds in the rough were commercialised back in 1370. Another historical event in the city in the 15th century was when the gold-worker Lodewijk van Berquem invented the diamond polish with diamond powder on a rotating disk. Emperor Maximilian I also gave Marie of Burgundy, the Duchess of Burgundy, located in Bruges, a diamond engagement ring for the first time.

The Diamond Museum of Bruges brings together craftsmanship, science, technology and creativity around diamonds in jewellery. Nuevo espacio en Madrid New space in Madrid

La veterana creadora y experta en joyería contemporánea ha abierto un nuevo espacio en Madrid, en la calle Lagasca 33. Un cóctel que reunió a amigos y clientes el 19 de mayo pasado hizo las veces de inauguración oficial. El establecimiento reúne su obra y las de otros artistas invitados.

The veteran creator and contemporary jewellery expert has opened a new space in Madrid at number 33 Lagasca Street. A cocktail party that brought together friends and clients on the 19th of May of this year also served as the official opening. The shop brings together her works and those of other guest artists.

Laura Márquez no sólo ofrece joyería de diseño desde hace largos años, también su experiencia como galerista de arte le ha hecho ganar un voto de confianza entre los amantes del arte contemporáneo de la capital española. En su establecimiento no solo hay lugar para las joyas, también otro tipo de disciplinas comparten espacio con metales nobles, gemas y otros materiales exclusivamente joyeros. Como ha sido el caso recientemente de la obra de Alejandra Bonmatí, una acuarelista que se reconoce por la fuerza y la luminosidad que impregna a sus obras a través de mezclar la acuarela líquida con la de tubo. Sus vistas del “sky” madrileño posaron cómodamente hasta finales de agosto junto con las piezas de Márquez, amante del poder de las piedras y del poder que las otorgan las tallas de artistas consumados en la materia, como las que salen del taller Munsteiner.

Laura Márquez has not only been offering designer jewellery for many years, her experience as an art gallery owner has also led her to win a vote of confidence among contemporary art lovers in the capital of Spain. Her shop makes room not only for jewellery but also for other disciplines which share the space with fine metals, gemstones and other more exclusively jewellery-oriented materials. One recent example is the work of Alejandra Bonmatí, a watercolour artist who is recognised for the strength and luminosity permeating her works through her mixture of liquid watercolour and colour from a tube.

Until late August, her views of the Madrid skyline posed comfortably alongside the pieces by Márquez, a lover of the power of stones and the power conferred by the cuts of consummate artists in this material, such as those that emerge from the Munsteiner studio.
