norbert fatnoggin

aug. 30th 2015 at 1.30 pm The rhinoceros Norbert Fatnoggin is the terror of everybody. His thick shell protects him against everyone. His philosophy is, that it is best to perceive all others as enemies, because in that way you won’t be disappointed with them. Therefore, he drives away all the animals from the African savannah. Only the little bird Charles Clingfoot dares to stay. Admittedly, Charles is very small, but he is also smart, quick-witted and very brave. We won’t reveal more of the story here. Come for yourself and watch a tyrant fall with a bang. ... a piece of narrative theatre, which wants to get to the core of things and succeeds in the best manner possible ... simple, entertaining as well as elementary intriguing. On a deeper level, the story unmasks power as hollow. H H H H H Teateravisen, DK

a true tall tale

Nov. 5th 2015 at 5 pm Don’t go through the forest robbers lie in wait and they will threaten your life Nevertheless, the old monk and his young apprentice walk into the forest on an icy winter’s day ... for they have heard about a wonderful miracle that is almost too good not to be true. Audience experiences this wonderful and old legend, lying in hammocks under a radiant sky. ... The experience is deeply sensory: Incense and ambient sounds waft through the air. H H H H Irish Times ... somewhat sinister and dangerous, somewhat funny and joyful, somewhat mysterious and religious. It is well done. H H H H H Teateravisen, DK The performance wants to tell us something important. Not by spelling it out. Rather by appealing to our imagination. Quite a marvelous experience, great, intense and affecting. H H H H H Århus Stiftstidende, DK Age From 8 years and up Duration ca. 45 minutes Cast Bodil Alling, Søren Søndberg, Søren la Cour, Lars K. Olesen Co-production by Teatret Gruppe 38 and Carte Blanche. The story is very freely adapted from Selma Lagerlöf. Venue Teatret Gruppe 38, Mejlgade 55B, 8000 Aahus C Avoid dinner bustle. paradise – a life-affirming story about an undertaker

Jan. 17TH 2016 at 2 pm This is what we know about the undertaker: He does what undertakers do best – he fixes up the dead, washes them, combs their hair, dresses them in clean clothes, places them in their coffins and closes the lid. And this is what we do not know about the undertaker: He has the ability to talk to the dead! And the dead happily talk back, about flowers, women’s bottoms and dogs and carports and windy weather and all the things they never got to do. Paradise is just something the undertaker makes up in his attempt to comfort a young girl who died far too young. But maybe it’s true – maybe there is such a thing as Paradise?

hansel and gretel

Feb. 11th 2016 at 7 pm & feb. 12th 2016 at 11 am Now, listen to me! We have to do something! We will die from hunger! Tomorrow we will give the children a piece of bread and take them into the forest. We will light a fire, then we will go away and leave them behind. J. Grimm The wonderful thing about fairytales is that they are entertaining as well as useful. They are incredible stories about fighting against life’s difficulties, about distinguishing between good and evil and about sorting out all those confusing impressions that reality offers. The gradual procession of tale and projected images reaches a wonderful climax full of sound and noise and wind; a testimony to elegant staging, where every detail has been calculated and revealed. The Advertiser, Adelaide, Tim Lloyd The penetrating gaze of Bodil Alling grips the audience from the outset, compelling them to listen ... A magical, intimate piece of theatre. The Herald, Edinburgh, Caroline Donne

go!

Mar. 5th-6th 2016 at 4 pm An old woman wanders in the dark of her apartment. Between islands of light she finds pieces of objects, memories and lives that she assembles together with masking tape. Inspired by the simplicity with which extraordinary people (be it a great artist or a granny next door) can leave us, and based on numerous travel notes scribbled over the years, this show tells the loneliness of those who travel in memories.

The Darkness rests under the bed

Apr. 28th 2016 at 5 pm Goodnight, goodnight, my darling, sleep tight The wind has settled in the willow The light has hidden in the pitch-dark night The sleep has settled on the pillow Come, come, settle down close to me The kiss has settled on the forehead The socks have settled separately ´Cause the other one smells so horrid Mum and Dad go on a surprise visit at their son’s. However, he has no time for natter and fussy cakes, so straight to bed it is. Goodnight and sleep tight. But how can anybody sleep tight when the body is itching and tingling from anticipation? When you’re hungry as a wolf or dying from thirst, when it’s too hot or cold or too bright or too dark? There is no mercy: Goodnight! On the spot! It is this exquisite sense of detail that makes this performance shine ... They are mini-mimics, but at the same time they are maxi-performers who cannot be switched of. H H H H H Teateravisen We feel in our stomachs that joy, which appears when you lie in the bedtime darkness and are overcome with the desire to invent, snuggling together and holding all life’s possibilities in your hand.
