Spring Program at Camp Kiwanis
Fairy Myst
Event Date: March 31 to April 1
Cost: $30 per Girl Scout / $25 per adult
Magic is happening at Camp Kiwanis and the fairies are calling you! Join us to learn from the wonderful fairies at Camp Kiwanis as they host Fairy Myst University! Enroll today to have a chance to become a fairy!
Fairies love to teach about making costumes, games, songs, dances, and practice skills that will help fairies be good friends to others.
All Fairy Myst University students who earn their fairy wings will become a Fairy Princess at the graduation ceremony on Saturday! All fairy students will receive a patch.
Horse Whisperer
Three Session Dates Available! April 22 / May 6 / May 13
Time: 9-11 a.m.
Cost: $25 per Girl Scout
Join us as we learn how to care for our horse friends! This program is perfect for the beginner rider. Fun patch included.
Girl Scouts will learn:
• Basic riding skills.
• How to saddle and mount a horse properly.
• How to lead a horse and ride.
Bonus! If you attend a Horse Whisperer program and a Day Camp Horse of Course program, you will receive a horseshoe key ring in the mail. Use the horseshoe key ring as a lead rope charm or as a daily reminder of your horse memories.

Day Camp at Camp Kiwanis
Five-day camp $300 per week or 120 cookie packages per day
Week 1 - June 12-16
Week 2 - June 19-23
Week 3 - June 26-30
Girl Scouts will experience all that Camp Kiwanis has to offer, including:
• Swimming
• Archery
• Ropes challenge course
• Horseback riding
• Arts & crafts
• Badgework
• Opening & closing ceremonies
The camp has a central building with flush toilets and air-conditioning.
With activities specifically geared for our younger Girl Scouts, a week of Day Camp is a great introduction to the outdoor camp experience for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts.
Leadership opportunities are also available for older Girl Scouts.

Spring Adventures
Rock Climbing
Event Date: April 22
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cost: $17 per Girl Scout
Registration deadline: April 8
Gain confidence in yourself through the physical, mental and emotional challenges of climbing.
Girl Scouts will learn about climbing equipment, techniques, and other skills before exploring up the rock wall. No prior climbing experience required.
Girl Scouts will receive a Rock Climbing Fun Patch. Waivers must be signed at the event or beforehand.
Career Exploration at the Amarillo Zoo
Event Date: April 29
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Cost: $15 per Girl Scout

Girl Scouts will get a behind-the-scenes look at the different roles that a zoo offers, including zoo curator, veterinarian, and zookeeper. Learn the importance of the zoo, careers at the zoo and the diverse ways the zoo supports their animals and habitats.

Trip will depart from the Fort Worth Girl Scout office.
This weekend trip will be a multi-badge earning opportunity for all participants. Girl Scouts will:
• Tour the farm
• Learn about ecosystems and how the farm operates as a business
• Participate in a plant focused activity and a animal focused activity
• Enjoy farm arts and crafts
• Take part in educational games
• Trek out in a guided nature walk
• Participate in a scavenger hunt

ZAP - Zombie Apocalypse Preparation

Would you be prepared for a ZOMBIE apocalypse?
Here is your opportunity to join an elite Zombie Apocalypse Preparation (ZAP) crew dedicated to survival—hone your marksmanship with archery challenges, develop your leadership abilities, learn outdoor living skills, and patrol Camp Kiwanis while planning escape routes and defensible spaces.

Program Aide/Volunteer in Training Course
This is a GSTOP designed leadership course which is required to complete the Program Aide (PA) Award and the Volunteer in Training (VIT) Award. Learn valuable skills about being a mentor and sharing your skills, passions and experience with younger Girl Scouts!
PA/VIT training involves learning how to work with children and adapting activities for special needs and situations. You will put your new skills to the test with activities that will prepare you for real life situations working with younger girls at troop, day camp, council and service unit events.
PA Award Requirements:
• Girl must have completed 6th grade • Girl Must earn their Leader in Action Award (LiA) • Attend PA training • Help a troop leader with girls at least 2 years younger than the PA, with at least 6 activities.
VIT Award Requirements:
• Girl must have completed 9th grade • Find a mentor volunteer who is currently the adult volunteer leader for a group of girls at the level (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, or Cadette) you would like to work with. The adult volunteer will help you through your training and internship, and you will help the volunteer with their group of girls on an ongoing basis for a threeto-six-month period. • Complete the Volunteer-inTraining Council Leadership Course. • Create and implement a thoughtful program based on a journey or Badge conducted over four or more sessions. Be responsible for designing, planning, and evaluating the activities.

Highest Awards Roundtable
Interested in getting feedback on your Highest Award project idea? Join the council’s Highest Awards staff, as well as members of our Gold Award committee, as we help you breathe life into your fantastic concepts!
Please note: training for your level of award is a required prerequisite. This roundtable event is not a replacement for Highest Awards training. This is a come and go session so please plan on dropping in at some point during the call time.

The Early Dedication to Medical Education (EDME) is designed to expose individuals to the possibilities of a career in medicine. Anyone interested in becoming a physician is welcome - high school students, parents, troop leaders and volunteers!

Oysters & Invertebrates
with Texas A & M Galveston

Texas A&M Galveston Sea Camp is streaming live to your home to give you the low-down on oysters and invertebrates! At the end of the live broadcast, an art-making activity will be shared with you to try out at home.
Bat Zoology

We are going to meet some of the bats living at Bat World Sanctuary discuss a variety of topics including pest control, pollination, conservation efforts, and how to handle a bat encounter safely. A Q&A session will close out our time together.

What creatures might be lurking in the shadows? Explore these mysteries and more in this creative and mystical event. You will hunt your favorite creature and study it. Then you will record it in a comic strip. And finally, you will share it with other curious minds.
