Introduction Mike Spitzer – Sunbeam Why are we here today: Master Data Management - MDM
Where does MDM fit in? Sub-committee of CEWAG steering committee Represented by Australian Industry Suppliers and Retailers Regular progress and results reported to CEWAG steering committee
Current MDM problems!
No formal process No specific structure Manual punching data Diverse data offerings Product sold before data is available Data issues – Missing or incorrect data – Naming conventions – Multiple coding methods – Code mismatch Supplier to Manufacturer
Why is MDM so important? Establish Consumer Electronics Industry Standards Simplify data sharing / synchronisation between Suppliers and Retailers Remove inefficiencies within Supply Chain – Streamline new item release processes – Reduce time – Lessen mistakes – Diminish/remove manual intervention Other industries already happening
