CAMPHERO – DAISY July 25 | 8-11:30am Grades: K-1 You and your adult buddy will get to spend time with police officers, firefighters, and EMTs while they lead you through activity stations. You’ll do fun things like fingerprinting, bandaging and splinting, fighting “fire” and learning about what happens when you dial 911. This program is designed for a girl to attend with a parent/guardian or other trusted adult. Note: Adult partner attends free. Sorry, no tag-a-longs. Cost: $25
Location: Fire Service Training Grounds (MATC), Madison
CAMPHERO – BROWNIE July 18 | 8am-5pm Grades: 2-3 Brownies spend a full day getting to know real firefighters, police officers and EMTs. Girls will make new friends with their “crew” members as they are led by CampHERO volunteers. The day is packed with fun activities including learning about the loops and whorls of fingerprinting, searching for someone who is lost, giving first-aid to someone who is sick and putting out a fire. You’ll get to check out fire trucks, ambulances and police cars. It’s a special day to remember! Cost: $35
Location: Fire Service Training Grounds (MATC), Madison
CAMPHERO – JUNIOR July 23 (7 am)-24 (5pm) Grades: 4-5 Explore the excitement and challenges that police officers, firefighters and EMTs face every day. By day you train with professionals all around Madison and learn about fingerprinting, police tactics, search and rescue, first aid, ropes and knots, bandages and splinting, and much more. Come night time you’ll enjoy a meal with your crew and bunk at the ‘station’ (Camp Brandenburg) for a night, just like real firefighters! Cost: $110
Location: Fire Service Training Grounds (MATC), Madison
CAMPHERO – CADETTE July 19 (2pm)-22 (6pm) Grades: 6-8 Spend four days living and training with your crew just like real firefighters, police officers and EMTs. The CampHERO experience takes you in-depth into topics like pursuing a criminal in a foot chase, lifting and examining fingerprints, searching for a fire victim, attacking a fire, immobilizing an injured person, CPR and more. Overnights are spent just as you would in a fire station. Perform your station duties while hanging out with CampHERO Crew Leaders and bunking at ‘the station’ (Camp Brandenburg). Spend the days training at the Fire Service Training Grounds at MATC in Madison. Cost: $250
Location: Camp Brandenburg, Dane
CAMPHERO – SENIOR/AMBASSADOR July 12 (2pm)-17 (7pm) Grades: 9-12 Wow. This is it - an opportunity like no other. Be prepared for a real-life experience designed specifically just for you. Spend a week living and training just like professional firefighters, EMTs and police officers. You’ll bunk at ‘the station’ (Camp Brandenburg) with your crew and train at various facilities around Madison, including the Fire Service Training Grounds at MATC. The week is packed with activities from all three career categories. You’ll learn how to use the jaws of life to extricate a crash victim, chase down and handcuff a suspect, conduct a patient assessment, care for an ill or injured person, rappel down the side of a building, communicate using radios and so much more (hint: there’s usually a helicopter landing involved!). Cost: $395
Location: Camp Brandenburg, Dane
WHEN TO REGISTER Registration opens January 26. Registrations are processed on a first come, first served basis. Camp programs sell out so register early! For Camp Ehawee and Camp Black Hawk programs, Badgerland Council makes every effort to accommodate each camper’s program choice. When this is not possible, we will contact you to discuss alternative programs for your camper.
HOW TO REGISTER Sign up using E-Biz, Badgerland’s online registration system, or use the paper registration form.
GRADE LEVELS “Grade level” refers to the grade your camper will enter in the fall of 2015. Use the grade guidelines listed with each program when you select a camp and note any prerequisites or additional age requirements included in the program summary.
HOW TO UNDERSTAND PRICING TIERS Why are there three prices for most Camp Ehawee and Camp Black Hawk programs? Running a resident camp is costly. But we believe these overnight camp programs are important to the Girl Scouting experience for many girls, and that’s why they are currently subsidized by Badgerland Council. Put simply, the cost of operating the camp program is greater than the amount paid by campers who attend. That’s where the tiered pricing system fits in – it allows families the choice to help cover the actual cost of resident camp if they are financially able.
Understanding Resident Camp Tier Pricing Tier A The price reflects the actual cost of operating this camp program. The cost includes all support staff, replacement of supplies, maintenance of buildings and grounds and facility upgrades. Tier B This price covers approximately 85% of the actual cost and is designed for those who can pay more but not the full fee.
Tier C This is the lowest price and covers approximately 70% of the actual cost of operating camp programs.
YOU CHOOSE THE PRICE The tiered pricing system was created to help provide the highest quality programs possible while serving all community income levels and being mindful of our responsibility to preserve camp for future generations. This program is voluntary and in no way influences the experience girls receive. Tiered pricing does offer the opportunity for families to take an active role in supporting the true cost of their Girl Scout’s camp experience.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A CAMPERSHIP DEADLINE APRIL 8, 2015 Girls are strongly encouraged to earn all or part of their way to camp through cookie and ‘in a nutshell’ sales. If you cannot afford Tier C pricing and need to supplement Badgerland Bucks and out-of-pocket costs for camp, Badgerland Council Campership Grants may be available. Learn more about Camperships and download the application at badgerlandcamps.org or by calling 800.236.2710 x1170. Note: Please review documents carefully before submitting the forms. The deadline to submit a Campership application is April 8.
