Troop Funds NUTSHELL SALE
GS Fundraising Opportunities
Badgerland Girl Scouts provides two fundraising opportunities each year for troops and individual girls to earn money to pay for programs, activities and experiences. Usually, troops will set a goal to earn a certain amount during the two sales and use those profits to pay for troop outings, troop supplies, costs associated with performing troop community service projects, girl uniforms and membership fees. The two product sales for troops to earn money are:
1) In a Nutshell Program
2) The Girl Scout Cookie Program
In a Nutshell Program October 3-21 Sell chocolates, nuts, magazines, photo keepsakes and more to earn troop money at the start of the Girl Scout year. • Take in-person orders with the paper order card • Send template emails inviting customers to order online to be shipped directly to them, or by pre-paid in-person girl delivery • On average, troops earn $269 participating in the sale • Girls earn tons of great rewards, including personalized patches
NUTSHELL PROGRAM TRAINING Troop Leaders: - September 20: Attend in-person or via webinar - 12pm or 6pm Parents: - Look for your troop co-leaders to give you the Nutshell Family Guide and answer all your questions. Girls who participate in Nutshell also earn patches. 6

In 2018, 256 Badgerland troops donated nearly 8,000 cookie boxes to food pantries in Dane and La Crosse counties resulting in 4,796 gallons of milk being donated to families in need in those communities. We are proud to announce our partnership with Dairy Promotions Committees around Badgerland will continue in 2019 and we’re looking to expand these opportunities for troops. Do you have a connection to a milk board in your county? Please connect with us so we can work on building more of these amazing give-backs for Girl Scouts. Contact us at info@gsbadgerland.org.

Any season is the right time for Girl Scouts to be outside. Plan a DIY Troop Camp to Brandenburg or Ehawee in the fall, winter or spring. We make it easy with our easy-to-use property reservation site and new SHIFTPODS. WHAT’S A SHIFTPOD?
It’s sort of like a tent...but way better. Using the latest space age composite super fabrics, SHIFTPODS are comfortable on the hottest days and the coldest nights you can imagine in Wisconsin, and have been tested in some of the harshest places on earth. How fast can your Girl Scouts set it up? The current record is 22 seconds but we’re pretty confident Badgerland Girl Scouts can do it even quicker. Set up is super easy and once it’s up, the SHIFTPOD sleeps 6 comfortably. Pitch it down by Lake Katrine at Brandenburg or in the woods at Ehawee. Wouldn’t that be a fun troop overnighter?
BUT WAIT...THERE’S MORE TO MAKE YOUR OUTING AWESOME!
Looking for activities while you’re outdoors? Badgerland has you covered! We have all sorts of kits at the ready for checkout, including geocaching kits. Plus, these handy resources are available for checkout at the Madison and La Crosse Service Centers: Pudgie Pie Irons Knot Boards and Rope Binoculars Dutch Ovens Roasting Sticks Magnifying Glasses Jackknives Snowshoes Outdoor Cooking Utensils 26
