Girl Scouts is even more fun when you’re doing it together as a family. You can help lead a troop, coordinate the Cookie Program, take the girls camping or chaperone at troop outings. Here’s a great idea: help out at any of the Badgerland programs. Browse through all the events we’re offering on pages 12-15 and decide which ones you want to come help with! You can run an activity, check-in the girls, set up the room...your help is needed to make the program special. However you decide to volunteer it will make a difference.

Nutshell is a FALL FUNDRAISER
so girls and troops can earn money for Girl Scout opportunities it’s an easy-to-do, friends and family sale.
It Really is This Simple:
1. Girls sell nuts, sweets and magazines using the order card. 2. Girls can also invite friends and family to order all those items and photo keepsakes with our new online store that permits customers to pay online and the items are shipped to them. 3. Girls deliver the goodies to her in-person customers in mid-November. 4. Girl Scouts fill out postcards in their ReachOut booklets and return to the troop leader for $2.50 in troop proceeds.
This is awesome... Girls can earn Personalized Patches! Girls with $150 in online sales can create and customize their own giraffe patch. - Add your name to the patch! - Choose your favorite color and designs! - We’ll print the personalized-with-your-name-on-it patch and mail it directly to girls to wear with pride!

New Troop Rewards!
In 2016, the Troop Reward is Troop Choice! That’s right, girls in the troop will get to decide which reward they want to enjoy together, selecting from among a few options! And for those waterpark lovers, no need to fret because the Kalahari will be back as one of the choices. :)
More “Doing Stuff” Rewards!
FEBRUARY 13 - MARCH 20 TROOP LEADER Cookie Training
JANUARY 8-10
(Plan to attend one Cookie Program training) Meet Hailey the Hedgehog, the new Cookie Program mascot. Girls can earn a plush, cuddly Hailey Hedgehog (no spikes, promise!) in two sizes as part of this year’s rewards.
Girl Scouts are do-ers and that’s why we’re building in even more experiences and outings for girls to enjoy as part of the 2016 rewards package. There are lots of goodies for girls to earn too, including Badgerland Bucks so she can set a personal goal and earn the funds to pay for programs and camp. Oh and how about a stuffed hedgehog! There are two sizes of cute and cuddly plush hedgehogs for girls to earn.
New Kick-Offs!
We’re shaking up the cookie kick-off programs. You told us you wanted more learning for the girls (and the adults) and more age-focused activities. The result? We’ve split up the kick-offs so Daisies and Brownies have their own program where they work toward badges and Juniors and Cadettes get their own time to learn and work on badges too. See the details on page 17. You’re gonna love it!

Class of 2015 Gold Award Eight Badgerland Girl Scouts earned Gold Awards in this 103rd year of Girl Scouting. In the spring, Badgerland held a Recognition Ceremony to honor the remarkable Seniors and Ambassadors who achieved the highest national award a Girl Scout can earn by demonstrating extraordinary leadership. These young women are joining an elite club—nationwide, less than five percent of Girl Scouts achieve Gold. The Badgerland Girl Scouts earning their Gold Awards displayed lots of creativity with Take Action Projects that included creating a Science Club for elementary students and building a children’s library. Congratulations to the 2015 Badgerland Girl Scout Gold Awardees: Courtney Burns, Olivia Fountaine, Emily Hill, Isabel Meyer, Lauren Paul, Carly Somermeyer, Meghan Wallace and Bailey Weston.
Silver Award Badgerland Cadettes were also hard at work this year on impressive Silver Award projects. In 2015, 65 Silver Award recipients were honored at the Recognition Ceremony. Silver projects included building homelessness awareness, helping children in the foster care system, recycling initiatives and many others.
THE YLC: LEADERSHIP IN Action
For their Silver Award project, Troop 4041 organized a community-wide children’s book drive to share their love of reading.
You Can Go for Gold and Silver!
Interested in pursuing the Gold or Silver Award? Information and training sessions for Gold and Silver awards are listed on page 16. 10 PathFinder 2015
The Badgerland Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is comprised of high-achieving, energetic teenaged Girl Scouts. The YLC meets six times a year and serves as the voice of all Badgerland Girl Scouts. The girls help guide decisions on topics including programs, product sales, shop merchandise and plenty more. The YLC girls have a lot of fun and prove the true meaning of leadership in action! Each spring, every Badgerland Senior and Ambassador is invited to apply to be a member of the YLC. Congratulations and thanks to the 2014-15 YLC: Laura Brandt, Ashlyn Erpenbach, Claire Evensen, Lena Figlear, Gabriella Johansson, Danielle Johnson, Hallie Kircher-Henning, Caroline Locke, Colleen McGuire, Lily Perkel, Cordelia Regenold, Jenna Tilton, Leah Sinclair and Monica Wherry.

The award is a symbol of the leadership skills a girl has built through her entire time in Girl Scouting. This session will show Girl Scouts and adults where to start and how to set up a successful plan to complete the entire Gold Award process. Remember, the award process does not start with the project plan, and it’s imperative to first learn and understand all of the steps along the way before starting. You’ll also learn about the mentoring and support available from Badgerland volunteers and staff. One training provides all of the tools needed to begin and be successful. Even if you are still evaluating, this is an excellent informational session for girls and adults who want to know more about going for Gold. Note: A troop leader, project advisors, mentors parents and other adults who will be helping the Girl Scout earn her award must attend. It is highly recommended for project advisors, parents and mentors to participate in a training process to successfully provide support and information to the Girl Scout on her path to earning the Gold Award.

Patch Program
STEM Sisterhood This year’s patch is all about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The goal? Girls will discover their interests and understand how they can make a difference in the world through STEM.
STEM SISTERHOOD
How It Works Research and interview a woman in a STEM field in your community, invite her to join you in a hands-on project that immerses you in her field of expertise then submit her story and a photo of your time together. This is an amazing opportunity to connect with women experts in STEM fields in your area and inspire girls to pursue their dreams. STEM Sisterhood Sample Ideas Biotechnology. Discover how women scientists use bacteria to clean up oil spills by connecting with a biotech expert at the local university. Architecture. Meet an architect to learn how she uses mathematics to design blueprints for equalopportunity housing. Game Learning. Discover how women professional game designers use code to design games for children and adults with special needs.
earn it! STEM Sisterhood Project Requirements 1. Discuss with your troop some areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics you’re excited to learn about. How do experts in these fields help to change the world? 2. Connect with professional women experts in the field you’re exploring. Meet with her at work or invite her to a troop meeting. 3. Ask your expert these questions and include three of your own! You’ll include the answers to these questions in the story you submit: Q: What is your professional role? Q: Why did you decide to do this kind of work? Q: How does your work make the world a better place? 4. Do a hands-on activity with your STEM expert that helps you learn more about the field. For example, if she is a forensic scientist learn how to analyze fingerprints or if she’s a biologist, examine slides under a microscope. 5. Complete the STEM Sisterhood Patch report and submit it to get your patch! More details and to download the form > gsbadgerland.org or info@gsbadgerland.org
