2017 COMMUNITY SERVICE PATCH
31 Random Acts of Kindness Do a good turn daily in October! “To put yourself in another’s place requires real imagination, but by doing so each Girl Scout will be able to live among others happily.” ~ Juliette Gordon Low Community service is as important to Girl Scouting as earning patches, badges and awards! Since the beginning in 1912, Girl Scouts have tackled projects, big and small, to make the world a better place. Giving back and doing good deeds is part of our DNA. The Girl Scout slogan says to do a good turn daily. We’re putting a new twist on that. In October, we’re challenging Girl Scouts to do a good turn every day of the month - that’s 31 days of good deeds. Why October and why 31? Well our amazing founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday was October 31. Let’s celebrate and earn in the Girl Scout way by doing good deeds every day of the month.
Need ideas? Leave an anonymous note telling someone how special they are. Open a door for the person behind you. Take your neighbor’s dog for a walk. Save your change, then treat a loved one to an ice cream cone. Call grandma and tell her your favorite memory of a time spent together. They’re random ideas. And the possibilities are endless. How can you spread kindness in the community? Find more ideas at randomactsofkindness.org. Patch Requirements Complete 31 random acts of kindness and record it on the patch form at gsbadgerland.org. Fill in the order form online, email it to us and we’ll pop your patch in the mail. That’s it. We can’t wait to see what kind things Badgerland gets up to this fall! 10

Once you decide what to study, identify a scientific expert or organization that needs your help and connect with them to gather more information. Then, take action by starting your project! Details on earning the patch: gsbadgerland.org
