Attending camp is consistently cited as girls’ favorite memories of their Girl Scout years. By sending your girl to camp, she will develop leadership and outdoor skills and develop a deep appreciation for our natural world. Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore and have fun under the guidance of trained and caring camp counselors.
Resident camp, Camp Ehawee, is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Accreditation is earned only after successfully meeting ACA’s high standards during an extensive review. These strict requirements are recognized nationally. Additionally, both Ehawee and Camp Brandenburg meet safety standards set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA and county and state regulations. 4

Camp Ehawee (pronounced e-how-e) is home to a swimming pool, nature trails, archery range, athletic fields, an arts building and indoor nature center. Ehawee campers canoe on a tributary of the Black River and creek hop at Crystal Creek. There is an impressive amphitheater where the entire camp gathers for the traditional Girl Scout’s Own Ceremony. Camp also features a performing arts center with a stage where many a girl has conquered her stage fright for the first time. Meals are eaten in Hope Lodge. Campers live in a bunkhouse, yurt, teepee, cabin or platform tent. Each area has a unit house with bathrooms and their fire ring for campfires.
Camp Brandenburg is about 20 minutes north of Madison on 178 acres that features hiking trails meandering through towering trees. The camp is located on beautiful Lake Katrine where thousands of Girl Scouts have learned to canoe through the years. Brandenburg is home to an open-air shelter that hosts many Girl Scout picnics. Hilltop Lodge is a fun space that girls love because the hallways literally climb up the hillside to four bunkhouses that sleep campers. Most meals are eaten in Hilltop. Brandenburg campers stay in Hilltop or Hawks Nest furnished with bunk beds. Brandenburg is outfitted with bathrooms with flush toilets. CAMP LIKE A

IS YOUR GIRL READY FOR CAMP? We sure hope so! Here are some things to consider while you figure out which camp experience is just right for your girl this summer. MULTI-DAY CAMP READINESS CHECKLIST o o o o o o o o o
She can keep track of her own things. She’s okay sleeping without a light on overhead. She likes playing outside. She’s slept away from home, without parents, and did okay - she even had fun! She’s been to other programs, without parents, and had a good time. She can handle basic personal hygiene including showering, brushing her teeth and hair. She’s open to making new friends! She will ask for help when she needs it. She WANTS to go to have fun, learn new things and make new friends!
Consider This If your camper is not ready for an overnight stay on her own, we encourage you to try one of our Parent-Girl camps so she can gain confidence. Another consideration? Day camp! Or how about CampHERO for Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts? There are so many Girl Scout programs to choose from this summer. Find the one that’s just right for your girl.

Resident & Sleepaway Camp Life Details Health and Safety Our camps meet stringent county, state and national standards. Camp Ehawee, our resident camp, is accredited by the American Camp Association meeting all safety guidelines. When your girl is at camp, a health supervisor is always on duty.
Our Camp Staff All staff members go through an intense screening, selection and training process. Most of our camp counselors are college students and aspiring teachers and outdoor educators. Camp leadership staff are professionals eager to provide amazing opportunities for your girl. A big percentage of staff are former Girl Scout campers! Camp staff participate in two weeks of training covering topics like camper behavior and support, creating safe space, outdoor activities, group dynamics, emergency procedures and much more.
Cost of Camp | Lower Prices in 2018! Overnight resident camps are $65 per night. That means a two-night camp is $130, a three-night camp is $195 and a five-night camp is $325. The cost of camp is subsidized by Badgerland Council. We firmly believe these overnight programs and experiences are important to the Girl Scout experience which is why we cut the price of camp and are underwriting it. Put simply, the cost of operating the camp program is much greater than the cost. If you want to add a camp donation to help offset the full cost, you will have the option to do so when you register her for camp. And, because we want girls to experience camp, Campership scholarships are available to families in need. See details on page 38.
She Can Earn Her Way to Camp With Cookies Girls are strongly encouraged to earn all or part of their way to camp through cookie and ‘in a nutshell’ sales. Paying for all or a portion of her camp program instills independence, pride and self-confidence. See more details about how she can earn Badgerland Bucks to pay for camp by selling cookies on page 38.
Special Needs If your camper has special needs including food allergies, health care or mobility limitations please notify us in advance. Badgerland Council will seek to accommodate special needs whenever possible but reserves the right to identify reasonable accommodations.
Who Attends Camp Girl Scout camp is for girls in grades K-12. Girls who are not already members of Girl Scouts simply pay the $35 Girl Scout membership dues prior to camp registration.

What She’ll Do At Camp This Week: Send her off to Ehawee this week when it transforms into the finest camp of Harry Potter-style witchcraft and wizardry. Upon arrival, girls will be sorted into their Hogwarts house and make their own robes while getting to know sister members of their exclusive house. Girls will explore the same subjects that Hermione studied at Hogwarts, including astronomy, potions, and charms classes where they’ll learn some handy spells. With customized wands and Marauder’s Map in hand, campers will head into the “Forbidden Forest” for a nature-focused scavenger hunt – all while competing for the coveted Ehawee House Cup! Lively games of Quidditch will be part of the activities for Brownies and Juniors. Additionally, Juniors will test their Hogwarts knowledge with an OWL (Ordinary Wizarding Level) trivia game show. And She’ll Do Traditional Camp Activities: Besides her Hogwarts-themed fun, there will be plenty of time for traditional camp activities including swimming, hiking, singing around the campfire while eating s’mores and exploring nature. 12

What She’ll Do At Camp This Week: S’mores are super fun anytime but how about when they’re roasted on a robotic arm your Girl Scout built herself?! Camp this week has an outer space twist. Campers will use the pool to imagine life in zero gravity, stay up late to study the moon’s craters with high-powered telescopes, and get inventive making up their own constellation stories to tell around the campfire. Plus, they’ll use Camp Ehawee’s brand new G.I.R.L. Makerspace to build robots, launch rockets and measure meteorites. Fun fact: Girls will follow in the footsteps of Girl Scouts of the USA CEO, Sylvia Acevedo, who is also a rocket scientist! She credits her STEM career to Girl Scouts where she first had the chance to shoot off rockets and study the skies... just like girls will do this week at Ehawee. And She’ll Do Traditional Camp Activities: Besides her rocket science and astronomy-themed fun, there will be plenty of time for traditional camp activities including swimming, hiking, singing around the campfire while eating s’mores and exploring nature. Instead, she’ll be encouraged to make everything gloppier, gooier and more spectacular because at this camp bigger is better, and she can do all the crazy stuff you don’t want to at home because it’s just too messy! We’ll be using every art supply we can find, plus making up a few new ones, to ensure this is a camp to remember. How about sponges soaked with paint? Ever heard of the famous Color Run? Our version will have girls getting color-blotched during a run around the games field and end with a colorful slip and slide! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can my camper be in the same unit as her friend or sister? You may request up to three buddies and we will do our best to make sure that they are able to be placed together in the same cabin or group (at a day program). Buddy requests are made in CampDoc. See page 39 for info about CampDoc. My daughter’s best friend is not a Girl Scout but she wants to go to camp with my girl. Can she? Yes! We welcome all girls. Girls who are not already registered as Girl Scouts will simply add the membership fee to their camp registration. It’s easiest for non-Girl Scouts to call us and we’ll help get them signed up on the phone: 800.236.2710. Can my daughter bring her cell phone or other technology to camp? Sorry. Camp is a screen-free zone for the girls to get them unplugged and reconnected with nature and friends. Please do not send cell phones, tablets, iPods or other electronics to camp. All electronic devices found will be secured in the camp office until the end of her session. Can I visit the camp? Absolutely! We strongly encourage you and your girl to visit her camp before her session or come to an Open House if you are just thinking about signing her up. We are hosting Open Houses at both Camp Ehawee and Camp Brandenburg so parents and girls can tour the camps and meet some of the staff. Details are on page 5. When camp is in session, only campers and staff are on-site. Additionally, if you want to bring your camper to camp instead of sending her on the Badgerland Bus, you are welcome to tour the camp at drop-off and see her sleeping area and the rest of the facility.
What happens if my child needs medical attention while at camp? A Health Supervisor is always on-site at camp and oversees the routine health care and administration of medications for all campers and staff. A doctor is on-call if illness or injury requires additional medical attention. Parents will be notified in the event of an emergency. How will my child be supervised? Our camp staff is trained to supervise campers to make sure they are properly fitted for a life jacket, but also making sure they are changing their clothes every day, drinking water and applying sunscreen. Girl Scouts places the highest priority on safety and train staff in all aspects of camp life.
Can I call camp to check on my camper? Of course! We encourage you to contact the Camp Director at camp, if you have any questions, concerns or just need reassurance that your camper is doing well. Conversely, we will reach out to you in the event we need to provide extra support to your camper due to homesickness, illness, or serious injury. How can I stay in touch with my camper while she’s at camp? Your camper would LOVE to get mail from you or other family members while at camp! You can send letters directly to camp during her session or even prior to her session. You may also bring your letters when you drop her off for camp and camp staff will distribute them to her throughout the week. You may even be able to see photos of your camper during her time at camp. The camp staff take photos and posts them occasionally during the week on a secure site. You will be emailed the login to the photo site before the start of her camp session.
