The Bear Song

[repeat-after-me a verse, then sing verse together]

The other day I saw a bear

A great big bear Oh way up there!

He looked at me, I looked at him He sized up me, I sized up him

He said to me Why don't you run, I see you ain't, got any gun

And so I ran Away from there But right behind Me was that bear

Ahead of me

I saw a tree

A great big tree Oh glory be!

The nearest branch, was ten feet up I'd have to jump, and trust my luck

And so I jumped, Into the air

But I missed that branch, Oh way up there

Now don't you fret, and don't you frown 'Cause I caught that branch On the way back down

Now that's the end, there ain't no more Unless I meet, that bear once more

The moral of The story be, Don’t meet a bear, Without a tree

The Dinosaur Song

[repeat-after-me]

One afternoon, it was cloudy and grey

And I wanted someone to come out and play I heard a knock-knock, and I opened the door, And there stood the loveliest BIG dinosaur!

Chorus

Me and my dinosaur, I’ve never had such a friend before!

As big as a house, twenty times and a half

And fifty times taller than any giraffe

LEGS long as sequoia trees

TEETH big as piano keys

No two people are buddies more, than me and my dinosaur

We hopscotched to Africa, quick as a breeze

While leapfrogging over the coconut trees. And when we get thirsty, mile after mile, In one great big gulp, we just drink up the Nile

Chorus

We got out some cookies and we had a snack. He asked if I wanted to ride on his back. I started to climb, from his tail to his cheek. The trip was so long, it took nearly a week.

Chorus

Nothing’s as fine

As me and my dinosaur! *stomp stomp stomp*

Humpty Dumpty

[repeat after me chorus, then all together]

Chorus

Hump-de-dump,

Hump-hump de-dumpty dumpty Hump-de-dump, Hump-hump de-dumpty dumpty

Verse [Song leaders “rap” verses]

Humpty dumpty sat on a WALL!

Humpty dumpty had a great FALL!

And all the king's horses, and all the king's men

Say UNH! Ain't that funky now?

Chorus

Additional Verse Options:

Repeat with different nursery rhymes like Little Miss Muffet, Jack and Jill, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or other nursery rhymes. Three Blind Mice is sung in a falsetto. ABC song is typically sung as the last verse.

40 Years on an Iceberg

40 years on an iceberg

Bumpin’ along with the time

Nothin’ to wear but pajamas!

Nothin’ to do but slide!

I think it’s getting colder. The wind is beginning to bite. I think it’s time to get off now

And high five three polar bears tonight

Repeat with a decreasing number of high fives down to zero.

Little Red Wagon

[repeat-after-me, each repeat gets louder and louder]

You can't ride in my little red wagon!

The front seat's broken and the axle's draggin'! Chooga, chooga, chooga chooga chooga!

Optional Ending:

You can’t ride in my little red wagon!

‘Cause you’re the one who broke it

Princess Pat

[repeat after me]

The Princess Pat

Lived in a tree*

She sailed across The seven seas She sailed across The channel too How did she do it?

Aaaa rig-a-bamboo

Chorus

A rig-a-bamboo?

Now what is that?

It's something made

By the Princess Pat

It's red and gold

And purple too

That's why it's called A rig-a-bamboo

Now Captain Jack

Had a mighty fine crew He sailed across The channel too But his ship sank And yours will too!

If you don't take A rig-a-bamboo

Chorus

Now Princess Pat

Saved Captain Jack She pulled him out She brought him back She saved his life Aaand his crew too! How did she do it? Aaaaa rig-a-bamboo!

Chorus

*Alternate lyrics here are "Light infantry"

The Nonsense Song

[repeat after me, then sing all together]

Oh, I was born, one night one morn

When the whistle went toot toot (TOOT TOOT!)

You can buy an egg, or fry a steak, When the mudpies are in bloom

Does six plus six make nine?

Does ice grow on a vine?

Is old man Joe a real cool bro in the good ol' summertime?

Oh, loopty loop in the noodle soup

Just give your socks a shine

I'm guilty judge, I ate the fudge, Three cheers for auld lange syne

I cannot tell a lie

I hocked an apple pie

It's on a tree, beneath the sea, Above the great blue sky

Oh, if Easter eggs don't wash their legs, Their children will have ducks (quack quack!)

I'd rather buy a lemon pie For forty-seven bucks

Way down in Barcelonio

I jumped into a phonio

But that was all baloneo Patteroosky, blow your horn (TOOT TOOT!)

Black Socks

Black socks, they never get dirty

The longer you wear them

The blacker they get

Someday, I’ll probably wash them

But something keeps telling me

“Don’t do it yet, Not yet! Not yet! Not ever!”

Birdie Song

Way up in the sky

The little birds fly Way down in the nest

The little birds rest

With a wing on the left and a wing on the right

The little bird sleeps all through the night

Shhhh!

They’re sleeping

The bright sun comes up

The dew falls away

Good morning! Good morning!

The little birds say!

Donut Song

Well I walked around the corner and I walked around the block And I walked right into a donut shop

And I pulled three donuts right out of the grease And I gave the lady a 5-cent piece

Well she looked at the nickel and she looked at me And she said this nickel isn’t good to me It’s got a hole in the middle and it goes right through I said there’s a hole in my donut too

Thanks for the donut, good day!

Well, she chased me ‘round the corner And she chased me ‘round the block

And she chased me right back to the donut shop

And she put my donuts right back in the grease And gave me back my 5-cent piece

Thanks for the workout, good day!

Long John

[repeat after me, repeat an infinite number of times with different animal noises]

Well I’m a looong john

And I’m a long time gone Like the bees in the hive

With their long johns on Goin’ Buzz, buzz, buzz Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz

Percy, the Pale-faced Polar Bear

Way up North where there’s ice and snow

And the temperature drops to 40 below Who's the friendliest one we know?

Percy the Pale-Face Polar Bear, GRRR!

Sleeps all day, and then at night

Catch a few fish by the pale moonlight Has no worries, has no cares

Percy the Pale-Face Polar Bear, GRRR!

Then one day a hunter came, Grabbed poor Percy by the snout

Put him in a great big cage

And he howled, and he growled, But he couldn't get out!

Now he's living in the zoo

Funny thing is, he likes it too

'Cause he met his girlfriend there, and she loves…

Percy the Pale-Face Polar Bear, GRRR! Who?

Percy the Pale-Face Polar Bear, GRRR!

Rattlin’ Bog

[singers link arms and skip/dance for chorus]

Chorus

Rare bog, rattlin’ bog, Way down in the valley, o!

Rare bog, rattlin’ bog, Way down in the valley, o!

[All verses are repeat-after-me]

And in that bog...

There was a tree!...

A rare tree!...

A rattlin’ tree...

And tree’s in the bog, And the bog’s down in the valley, o!

[add in each of the following in order]

Limb, Branch, Twig, Nest, Egg, Bird, Wing, Feather, Tick, Spot, TREE!

OR Tree, Branch, Twig, Nest, Bird, Feather, Flea, Sneakers, Laces, Dirt, Bog

Bean Song

My dog Lima likes to roam One day Lima left his home He came back quite unclean Where oh where has Lima been?

Lima been, Lima been Where oh where has Lima been?

[Replace Lima with any sort of bean.]

Linger

Mm-mm, I want to linger Mm-mm, a little longer Mm-mm, a little longer here with you

Mm-mm, it's such a perfect night Mm-mm, It doesn't seem quite right Mm-mm, that it should be my last with you

Mm-mm, and come September Mm-mm, I will remember Mm-mm, our camping days and friendships true

Mm-mm, and as the years go by Mm-mm, I'll think of you and sigh Mm-mm, this is goodnight and not goodbye

Mm-mm, I want to linger Mm-mm, a little longer Mm-mm, a little longer here with you

[hum another verse]

Boom-Chicka-Boom (repeat-after-me)

I said a boom-chicka-boom

I said a boom-chicka-boom

I said a boom-chicka-rocka-chicka-rocka-chicka-boom!

Uh-Huh!

That’s right! One more time!

[Repeat in different versions.]

On the Loose

[You can skip the choruses for a shorter version.]

Have you ever seen the sunrise

Turn the sky completely red?

Have you slept beneath the moon and stars, A pine bough for your bed?

Have you sat and talked with friends, Though a word was never said?

Then you're just like me and You've been on the loose

Chorus

On the loose to climb a mountain

On the loose where I am free

On the loose to live my life

The way I think my life should be

For I only have a moment

And a whole world yet to see I'll be looking for tomorrow

On the loose

There's a trail that I've been hiking

Just to see where it might go

Many places yet to visit

Many people yet to know

And in following my dreams

I will live and I will grow

On the trail that's waiting out there

On the loose

Chorus

So in search of love and laughter

I'll be traveling this fine land

Never sure of where I'm going

For I haven't any plans

But in time when you are ready Come and join me, take my hand And together we'll find life out On the loose

Chorus

In the world where I am traveling I will think of you each day

Remembering your smile For it seems like yesterday

When we sat beneath the stars, And we dreamed about today We have come together and We are on the loose

Chorus

As I sit and watch the sunset and the daylight slowly fades, I am thinking about tomorrow and the friendships we have made. I’ll value them for always and I hope you’ll do the same, And forever we’ll explore life on the loose.

Chorus

Sparky’s Song

Oh, the time has passed so quickly, And it seems like yesterday

Traveled far away from home

To where I am today

Thought that I was destined To be lost and all alone

'Til I came upon these people Who made me feel at home

Chorus

And I want to tell you

Just how much I love you

Tell you all the things

That you should know, like

Thank you for just being here

And giving of your time

Giving me the space I need to grow

Well, I felt at once a kinship

With my friends here at my side

Felt I was accepted, And I had no need to hide

Knew that I could handle

What the world would send my way

Though some times were more than hard, I'd never change a day

Chorus

Well, my story is not over

Though we have to turn the page

Take up where our paths left off

And go our separate ways

But a lifetime's worth of memories Have been found in these few days

If we ever meet again, I know I'll have to say

Chorus

Everywhere We Go (repeat-after-me)

Everywhere we go

People wanna know

Who we are

And where we come from

And we always tell them

We’re from (camp, unit, etc.)

Mighty, Mighty (camp, unit, etc.)

And if they can’t hear us

We’ll shout a little louder

[Repeat, getting louder]

Make New Friends

Make new friends But keep the old

One is silver and the other gold

A circle’s round It has no end

That’s how long I want to be your friend

I have a hand And you another Put them together and we have each other

He drank his juice with care

But he spilled it everywhere!

He drank his juice with care

But he spilled it everywhere!

Way up in Canada,

There is a very sticky moose.

There is a very sticky moose.

Wishboat Song

Who can sail where there is no wind

With no oars to be rowing?

Who can sail far away from a friend With no tears aflowing?

I can sail where there is no wind With no oars to be rowing. But I can’t sail far away from a friend With no tears aflowing.

I’ll send my wishes out o’er the sea In little boats all aglowing I’ll make a wish for you and me With our love aflowing

And as our candles drift away A wish we are making for you

We hope to see you again someday May our wish come true.

Tarzan Song

[repeat after me]

TARZAAAAAN

OOOOHHHHWEEEEE THAT HURT

Now Jane has a pain And Tarzan has a tan And I hope it don’t peel

Like a ba naaaaaana

Cheetah

Was bopping to the beat-ah

Cheetah

Got eaten by an ameba

OOOOOHHHWEEE THAT HURT

Now cheeta is velveta and Jane has a pain And Tarzan has a tan And I hope it don’t peel

Like a ba naaaaaana

Happiness Runs

Happiness Runs in a circular motion

Love is like a little boat upon the sea

Everybody, everywhere is a part of everything

You can be happy, if you let yourself be Happiness Runs, Happiness Runs

Happiness Runs, Happiness Runs

I Don't Wanna Go Home

A peaceful calm settles over camp

As the [insert camp] sun goes down

It’s been a long, long week and I just wanna say

Thanks for all the fun

Your parents will arrive tomorrow’s eve

Gonna take you away from here

And if the sky is willing and the roads aren’t bad

By bedtime, you’ll be there

Chorus

I don’t wanna go home now

I don’t wanna go home

All Earth’s creatures are happy when they’re home

And I don’t wanna go home

When you arrived a week ago

You were feeling kinda low

You thought of all the friends you thought you’d miss

And the comforts of home sweet home

But now that you’re leaving you can’t help But think of all the good times you’ve had

And all the wonderful new friends you’ve made Camp really wasn’t so bad!

Chorus

Mr. Moon

Mr. Moon, Mr. Moon you’re out too soon

The sun is still in the sky

Go back to bed and cover up your head

And wait til the day’s gone by

From out the battered elms tree

The owls cry we hear

And from the distant forest

The cuckoo answers clear

Cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo co co co ku

On My Honor

Chorus

On my Honor, I will try

There’s a duty to be done And I say “Aye” There’s a reason here for a reason above My honor is to try and my duty is to love

People don’t need to know my name

If I’ve done any wrong, then I’m to blame If I’ve helped another, then I’ve helped me If I’ve opened up my eyes to see

Chorus

I’ve tucked away a song or two

If you’re feeling low, there’s one for you If you need a friend, then I will come And there’s many more where I come from

Chorus

Come with me where the fire burns bright, We can even see better but a candle’s light And we’ll find more meaning in a campfire’s glow Then we’d ever find in a year or so

Chorus

When I was young, I thought the stars were made for wishing on And every hole deep in a tree

Must hide a leprechaun

Old houses all have secret rooms if one could find the door But who believes in magic anymore

Chorus

Magic is the sun that makes the rainbow out of rain And magic keeps the dream alive to try and try again

Magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave I do believe in magic I believe

Growing up the grownups said one day I’d wake to find That magic is a childish game I’d have to leave behind Like clothes that would no longer fit Or toys that I’d ignore I’d not believe in magic anymore

Chorus

Now my childhood’s far behind, I’ve learned to my suprise That magic did not fade away, it wears a new disguise

A child, a friend, a smile, a song, the courage to stand tall And love’s the greatest magic of them all

Chorus
