insecure Season 2 on HBO took us there. It revealed the parts of ourselves that we don’t want anyone to see. With the pressure to curate our best selves and live our best lives, insecure allowed us to see ourselves as we really are: messy, beautiful, failing,
winning, confused and con dent. We were offered the opportunity to use ctional characters to discuss our non ctive lives including topics not limited to equal pay, gentri cation, taboo sexuality,and race. This syllabus intends to continue the conversation with works inspired by each episode. Thank you to those who have provide a framework to curate this selec- tion.
