HILLTOPS WINE Rolling vine covered hills are the signature of the Hilltops region, the perfect place to nurture premium grapes and craft prestige award-winning wines.

The contemporary Hilltops wine story goes back to the early 1970s and pioneer vigneron Peter Robertson who realised the natural assets of the elevated slopes around the township of Young. Deep rich loam soils, a cool continental climate and reliable water supply (in most years) create exceptional wine country. The foundation vineyards were planted predominantly to shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, still the region’s mainstay varieties. But increasingly, the Hilltops is earning a reputation for its personality-packed wines made from Italian varieties like prosecco, pinot grigio, sangiovese, nebbiolo and most recently, fiano. Whatever the grape, Hilltops wines typically resonate vibrant individuality — lifted aromatics, concentrated flavours and in the case of the classic red wines, the capacity for mellow ageing.
