Hilltops Region Visitor Guide - 2021

Page 34

FOOD & PRODUCE From award-winning wines and coffee to locally grown produce, Hilltops Region offers our visitors an array of dishes and dining options to suit all palates.

Start your day with coffee and a delicious country breakfast from The Marsden St General (Boorowa), Barnes Store Emporium & Café (Murrumburrah), Hussy Speciality Coffee & Kitchen or Wilders Bakery (Young). Grill our butchers’ meats, including Young’s award-winning sausages, at one of the many BBQ sites available around the region. Hilltops Honey is found in many of our shops: mix some with one of the Yandilla Mustards to glaze a ham from our butchers, and serve Pitstone olives from the region with drinks before dinner. We welcome visitors with big country meals, and the discerning ‘foodie’ with varied seasonal menus in our cafés and restaurants. The Country Women’s Association has encouraged our locals to learn to bake and preserve, so there’s a great skill base for our cafés and pubs to produce scrumptious desserts and wonderful cakes and pies. For the hungry the Sir George at Jugiong and The Light Horse Hotel Murrumburrah offer exciting new dishes along with traditional favourites.
