Gender - Both genders will be aimed at with this documentary as it is for young people as a whole to receive not a specific gender, to inform them of the different options they have. I will incorporate this by getting views and interviews by people of genders.
Location - I feel that my documentary will appeal more to people in England than anywhere else in the UK. This is because the tuition fees have been raised there meaning they will find looking through other options like apprenticeships more useful and relevant.
Hobbies and Interest - My target audience are mainly students meaning they should be interested in education, and other things that young people are interested in such as socialising, jobs, sports, music and current affairs. Hobbies may consist of sports, gaming, shopping as this is what young people are known for.
Target Audience ? Socio-Economic Group - The class of my audience will be varied but mostly will be in full time education or working part-time as this is what the majority of students will be doing at this stage of their lives. This means they will all be within groups ‘C2 – E’, therefore not really too high in the economic hierarchy. The higher end of my target audience may be in full time work meaning they may be drifting to the ‘C1 – A’ groups.
Domestic Circumstances - My target audience as students will most likely still be living with parents but a percentage may have decided to live independently, especially at the higher end of the audience in the twenties. It will appeal to people more in urban areas rather than rural areas as young people in rural areas are less likely to go to university and may have already evaluated their options.
Age - My audience are mainly what the brief requires, 16-25 year olds. This is because my documentary is discussing the same choices that this group of young people have made or are going to be making next year due to the rise of tuition fees making it relevant. My focus group proved this with their enthusiasm on the topic.
