This is your Girl Scout Year and we are excited to share it with you.
Between these pages we have tried to capture many of the opportunities you can choose to attend. There is something for everyone: travel for the adventurous, art for the creative, outdoor experiences for the camper, science activities for the inquisitive and plenty more! We hope you take time to Discover something new, Connect with people and activities you love and Take Action by being a part of Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.
Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee Program Goals As we begin this Girl Scout season we want to share with you our program focus areas. The program department has four main focus areas: Life Skills, Outdoors, Entrepreneurship and STEAM. Each program area is defined below.
Life Skills
Entrepreneurship
Our life skills programs are based on healthy living (physical, emotional, relational, cultural), interpersonal skills, leadership, cooking, car care, higher education, cultural experiences, conflict resolution, problem solving and more.
Entrepreneurship programs are created to engage girls in business planning, inventing, design thinking, marketing, future investing and problem solving.
Outdoors Outdoor programs focus on recreation, camping, exposure to nature, outdoor sports, outdoor leadership, summer camp and equestrian experiences. Though many of these programs are offered on our camp properties there are many opportunities to experience the outdoors in programs near you.
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Our main program offerings in STEAM are covered by Girl Innovators, the To Reach the S.T.A.R.S. event and additional programming throughout the year that encourages girls to explore the concepts of STEAM in fun and engaging ways.
The 2017/2018 Girl Scout year will offer programs in all areas with the primary focus on life skills. We will highlight some of the new Leadership Journeys coming out and new badges that will be released. We will also spotlight the It’s Your Story – Tell It Leadership Journey. Don’t miss a chance to use your voice. Please contact any of the program managers with questions you may have. Let’s write a great story this year.

The Cabin The Cabin at Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee is the one stop location for your volunteer and troop needs. In addition to a full line of uniform and troop items, we carry many gift giving and volunteer based products. While in the Cabin, you can purchase troop badges, reserve packaged programs, schedule a training, pay for programs, trainings and property reservations. Our staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We are here to make your Girl Scout experience educational and enjoyable. We can also help you with our Council’s Own patches, which provide you with additional options for troop patches. Guidelines for these patches can be found on our website. We offer FREE fireside chats to leaders and parents focused around the issues facing today’s youth. When you purchase items from Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee retail shop, the money stays in our council area. This provides ways to give back to the Middle Tennessee girl experience. We look forward to meeting you and helping with all your troop and Girl Scout needs. Feel free to call us with any questions at (615) 460-0222.

Program Registration Information Explore the many opportunities Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee has to offer! Council Sponsored Programs are planned and facilitated by your Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee program team. Programs are scheduled on a particular date and for specific grade levels. Registrations are taken through E Council. Registration for each program closes three weeks prior to an event. Please note popular programs fill prior to the three week registration deadline. Unless otherwise stated, Council Sponsored Programs do not provide food and require adults to attend with Girl Scouts. Council Sponsored Programs are designed for the girl and grade level indicated. Please make other arrangements for tag-a-longs (siblings of the male gender or females not yet in kindergarten).
STEP 1: Decide on a program that inspires you! STEP 2: Register for the Program 1. Visit the E Council registration page, found in the top right corner of our home page (www.gsmidtn.org). 2. Select ‘Program Event’ to view the calendar, then select month and year of the event and press ‘go.’ 3. Events will appear on the calendar in different colors. View the key at the top left of the calendar for color explanation. Waitlist: if a program is full or has closed please contact the program manager to be registered. You will be placed on a waitlist. Program managers make decisions of increasing program maximums or creating another program based on this information. 4. After you have clicked on your event, you will choose ‘troop’ or ‘individual.’ If you are registering several girls from a troop, choose ‘troop.’ If you are registering a girl as an individual participant select ‘individual.’ 5. The next screen asks for specific information about those who will be attending, including both girl(s) and adult(s). At this point you may only add registered girls. Please note: If you click submit and are notified that you have left out information, DO NOT click the back button. To go back, hold down the ‘alt’ key and select the left arrow key to return to the previous page. When registration is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation. This does not place you into the program/event. This only verifies receipt of registration. Be sure to print or save your confirmation of registration. Notice: A new registration system will be put in place soon. Instructions will be updated at that time.
4
STEP 3: Payment Once you have registered and the program has met its minimum, E Council will send you an invoice by email or mail from our council registrars. You will have 10 days from the date you receive your invoice to pay your balances. All balances are due prior to the date of the program. We do not accept partial payments for programs. For your troop to be considered paid in full, you must submit the full payment.
STEP 4: Before Your Program Letters or emails will be sent to you at least one week prior to the event with all information you will need. Confirmation letters include: directions, packing list, overview of the event, forms to complete and more. If your troop’s registration was received after the event was filled, you will be put on a waiting list and will receive notification if space becomes available. Send Payments To: Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee Attn: Program Registrar 4522 Granny White Pike Nashville, TN 37204 Fax: (615) 460-0204 Email: econwell@gsmidtn.org or sberry@gsmidtn.org Please set ecouncil@gsmidtn.org as a “safe sender” to avoid accidental delivery to junk or spam folders.
Communication about Programs For clarification concerning any program please reach out to the program manager listed under each description or to our council registrars listed below. Please avoid responding to ecouncil@gsmidtn.org. Shaniqua Berry Council Registrar (615) 460-0204 sberry@gsmidtn.org
Eva Conwell Council Registrar (615) 460- 0254 econwell@gsmidtn.org
Cancellation Events run rain or shine. The program managers for each program will contact you if a program is postponed, rescheduled or canceled due to inclement weather. Please use your best judgment when traveling with girls. Traveling in extreme weather is not advised. All cancellations must be in writing and sent to registrars or program manager (mail or email) 15 business days before an event. You are billed and sent reminders for program fees. Payment is expected unless you cancel. Unpaid registrations do not count as notice of cancellation and full payment is expected. If GSMIDTN cancels the event for any reason, a refund will be issued based on program expenses.
Refund We have made plans and prepared for you and your girls to attend our programs, and full payment is expected upon registration. Troops or individual Girl Scouts may cancel a reservation and request a refund in writing within 15 business days (three weeks) of an event. Refund requests can be sent via mail or email. Refund requests may be sent to programdept@gsmidtn.org. Refunds are not issued for individuals or troops who choose not to attend a program. Full payment is required unless written cancellation is received 15 business days prior to an event. Refunds for unexpected sickness or family emergencies will be considered upon request. A program that has specified “no refunds will not grant refund requests for any reason.
Exciting News
As we are creating the program guide we are also creating a new online registration system, CouncilAlignMENT. We are creating CouncilAlignMENT with you in mind; more convenient, easier to register, additional online payment options, enhanced communication system and more. Look for more information in the future.

Troop Camping and Service Unit Camporees Isn’t it nice to know that you don’t have to travel far to experience the great outdoors? Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee has four wonderful properties for your camping enjoyment. We have something for everyone, and these properties are offered year round, with the exception of Camp Holloway and Camp Sycamore Hills. Camp Holloway and Camp Sycamore Hills host summer resident camp and are closed for troop camping Mid-May through Mid-August. We know memories are important so let’s make some together. Visit our website to see all the properties and a complete list of what they offer. Troops travel to Camp Holloway, Camp Nee Kah Nah, Camp Piedmont and Camp Sycamore Hills to experience cooking, team building and the beautiful properties we as Girl Scouts own. Your troop will need to complete required Outdoor Skills training and First Aid/CPR to reserve a tent, cabin or lodge at one of our properties. This is a wonderful experience to introduce your Girl Scouts to the many offerings around her!

Mind Your Own Business! (but in a good way!)
October 21 and 28, 2017 • November 4, 11 and 18, 2017 • December 1-2, 2017
The Entrepreneur Center for Girls at Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee is a totally cool new space that provides girls with the opportunity to create a blueprint for their academic careers and professional life goals. Do you want to: • Gain skills in project planning and team building? • Learn how to give a presentation and knock the socks off an audience? • Take your great ideas and make your own inventions? • Learn what it takes to start your own business?
Girl Scouts can participate in The Entrepreneur Center for Girls programming in several different ways: 1. Girl Scouts can participate in a structured curriculum for 9th-12th grade girls that will meet once a week on Saturdays in the fall and in the spring. 2. Girl Scouts from Daisy to Ambassador can use the Entrepreneur Center to explore ideas, use our cool equipment, and get advice from participating experts and mentors. 3. Girl Scouts can attend workshops and other activities that focus on being an entrepreneur, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle while pursuing your goals and learn about many of the different academic choices and professions that can fit into their entrepreneurial dreams!
For more information about how you can participate in The Entrepreneur Center for Girls at Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee
