Consitutional Amendment
Regarding voter eligbility, the North Carolina Consitution currently states “every person born in the United States and every person who has been naturalized, 18 years of age” can vote. The proposed amendment would change the lanaguage to “only a citizen of the United States who is 18 years of age.”

Local Sales and Use Tax
Currently, Guilford County residents pay a combined state and local sales tax of 6.75%. The proposed tax is 1/4 of a penny on each dollar and would bring the total sales tax to 7%. If approved by voters, the bi-partisan Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution to use the tax for the purpose of increasing the County’s Local Supplement towards compensation for teachers and classified employees of Guilford County Schools.
