SEASON PREVIEW After winning a Sun Belt Championship, one of four tournaments wins, and advancing to the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in school history, it could appear that the Panthers were content with last season. Entering the 2014-15 season, that statement could not be further from the truth as Georgia State looks to return to nationals and qualify for match play for the first time in school history. Georgia State returns four members of the squad that travelled to Hutchinson, Kan., for the national championship last May. The squad welcomed five newcomers over the summer and enters the season with more depth than at any point during head coach Joe Inman’s six-plus year tenure. “Last season was a great year for our program,” Inman said. “The team started to fully understand its potential and we made a great run with three-straight wins at the end of the season. Our team showed we could compete with some of the best teams in the country at the national championship, but at the same time also felt like we did not perform our best on the national stage. “To go along with four very talented returners, we have added a strong group of newcomers who are going to add depth and push everyone in the lineup to get better. The best way to get better is to be challenged and I feel like all of the members of our team will be challenged to get better this season.” Seniors Damon Stephenson and Davin White will be among the leaders for Georgia State this year. Stephenson, an All-Sun Belt Second Team honoree last year, recorded at least one round of par or better in every tournament during the season. He finished second at the Sun Belt Championship and finished the season with a 73.24 scoring average.

2014 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

White earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors and was tied for third after two rounds of play at the NCAA Championship. He led the team with a 72.84 scoring average and recorded 21 rounds of par or better, tied for the second-most in school history. Both will be important pieces at the top of the lineup. Junior J.J. Grey earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors for the second year in a row after three-straight top-10 finishes entering postseason play. His 41 rounds play during the 201314 season set a school record. He enters the year with a 72.76 career scoring average, sixth in school history. Rounding out the returners is sophomore Nathan Mallonee who played in all but the first tournament of the 2013-14 season. In just his second career tournament, Mallonee finished sixth at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic.

“We have a strong group of returners who know what it takes to reach the highest level of collegiate golf,” Inman said. “There is no doubt that they will be looked upon as the leaders of our team this year and expected to perform at the highest level.” Coach Inman will welcome five newcomers to the squad, including senior Gus Wagoner and freshmen Alexander Herrmann, Max Herrmann, Sean Murphy and Hayden Poole. Wagoner spent three seasons at Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah after attending Northview High School in nearby Duluth. As a junior, Wagoner earned All-Peach Belt Second Team honors. Alexander and Max Herrmann, identical twins from Germany, add a wealth of international experience to the team. The brothers have played tournaments throughout Europe while also competing for the German National Team. Poole and Murphy are a pair of local players who could also make an immediate impact. Poole comes from Johns Creek High School while Murphy played at nearby Marist High School. “I really like our newcomers for a variety of reasons,” Inman said. “Each brings something unique to the team and will be able to contribute in different ways. The biggest thing is that they give us a great deal of depth and will push for playing time throughout the season.” The Panthers will open the fall at The Invitational held on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C., Sept. 12-14. The course most recently hosted the PGA Championship in 2012 and will feature a top-ranked field. Georgia State will begin October returning to the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at Old Overton Country Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala. The event is hosted by Alabama which won the national championship last year and annually has one of the best fields in the country. “After the season we had last year, I really wanted to make our schedule tougher this year,” Inman said. “Being able to add tournaments hosted by Alabama and Auburn, as well as the Linger Longer will challenge our team, but also make sure ready for the postseason when the time comes.” The following weekend, the Panthers will host the fourth annual AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic Oct. 13-15, at Berkeley Hills Country Club in nearby Duluth. The 12-team field will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final round on Tuesday. Georgia State won the event for the first time in 2013 by two strokes over South Florida. The Panthers will conclude the fall at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on the East Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 25-26. “We are excited to host an event at Berkeley Hills once again this fall,” Inman said. “Everyone at the course has been very supportive of us over the years and to have AutoTrader.com back as a sponsor is special as well.” The spring will start at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Feb. 14-15. Georgia State last played in the

event in 2011 and has made numerous appearances at the Mark Bostick Golf Course over the years. The Panthers will close out the month, Feb. 23-24, at the Jones Sports Invitational, making the cross country trip to Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif., for an event hosted by Pepperdine. It will mark the second year in a row that Georgia State has travelled to the West Coast. “California has some of the best golf courses in the world and the fact that we were able to do this trip again is great,” Inman said. “The team had a lot of fun last year. This event allows us to play against a lot of teams we would normally not see during the regular season.” Georgia State will open a busy month of March at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn at Grand National Golf Club, March 9-10. The month will continue with a trip to the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Planation March 20-22. “There are so many Georgia State alums living at Reynolds Plantation it will be great to play in an event that is less than an hour from Atlanta and they will be able to come out and support us,” Inman said. “This is always a great tournament and the Great Waters course is one that many of our players have already played on in amateur events.” Georgia State will close out the month of March (27-29) by returning to the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C. This will mark the fourth year in a row competing just up I-85 in one of the nation’s biggest events, annually hosting more than 20 teams. Last year, the Panthers shared the team title with Virginia Tech, the first of three straight wins for GSU. The second of those wins came at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate which will once again be the last regular-season event for the Panthers. This year’s event will take place April 4-5 at The Club at Irish Creek and be hosted by Davidson and Charlotte. The defending Sun Belt Conference champions will defend their title April 20-22. NCAA Regional play will once again take place at six national sites, May 14-16. The NCAA Championship is set for Concession Golf Club in Tampa, Fla., May 29-June 3, with the final day of stroke play and the match play portion of the event televised on The Golf Channel.

Long-time professional golfer Joe Inman, who has enjoyed success on the PGA and Champions Tours, will begin his seventh year as head coach of the Georgia State men’s program in 2014-15. The 2013-14 year was his most successful as he guided the Panthers to a school-record four wins, a second-place finish at the NCAA San Antonio Regional and a ranking as high as No. 43 in the country en route to the school’s fifth NCAA Championship appearance where GSU finished 22nd. After winning the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in the fall, Georgia State earned a school-first back-toback-to-back wins to end the spring, taking the titles of the Furman Intercollegiate, Irish Creek Collegiate and Sun Belt Conference Championship. Under Inman’s guidance, Georgia State made its second appearance in an NCAA Regional in 2014. The secondplace finish was the best in school history as he watched senior Tyler Gruca finish third, the best result by an individual in NCAA Regional play in program history. Inman guided the team to a one-stroke win at the conference championship and was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year by his peers. Three Panthers earned all-conference honors, including a pair on the first team. Inman had led the Panthers to back-to-back conference runner-up finishes entering 2013-14 and helped J.J. Grey become the sixth Panther in program history to earn All-America honors in 2012-13. In his first year, Inman took the Panthers to the NCAA Regional in 2009, as the Panthers reached the postseason for the 10th time in 12 years. Inman led Georgia State to a sixthplace finish, just one position shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championship. Georgia State earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Regional after finishing second at the CAA Championship in a one-hole playoff to VCU. Under Inman, three Panthers earned all-conference mentions, including Tom Sherreard,

who earned the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, and freshman Allen John, who finished as a medalist at the CAA Championship and earned rookie-of-the-year honors. In his second season, Inman watched as Sherreard earned his third straight CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor and advanced as an individual to the NCAA Regional after earning All-CAA accolades. His squad finished the fall with the highest GPA among all GSU male squads. In this third year, Inman led a squad that finished the year with three freshmen in the lineup at the season-ending CAA Championship. Seven members of the team earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award honors. During the 2011-12 season, the squad peaked at the right time, finishing second in its final CAA Championship. Inman watched as Davin White earned CAA Rookie-ofthe-Year honors after another freshman, Damon Stephenson, took low medalist honors at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, an event GSU won by six strokes. He also led the efforts for the highly successful AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club. The event was a great success as teams raved and it now has quickly become one of the top tournaments in the southeast each fall. In 2012, Inman led the Panthers to a second-place finish, including a win over top-10 ranked Georgia at Berkeley Hills. GSU finished the year among the top 75 teams in the country after its second-place finish at the Sun Belt Championship. Spanning more than 25 years, Inman’s pro playing career included four victories, one on the PGA Tour and three on the Champions Tour. He had nearly 100 top-25 finishes on each circuit, and his career earnings totaled over $5 million. Inman’s career on the PGA Tour included playing in 329 events, highlighted by a victory in the 1976 Kemper Open. He also posted three runner-up finishes and four third-place showings on the PGA Tour, along with 32 top

10-performances and 98 finishes in the top 25. After working as a sales representative for PING from 1989-97, Inman began playing on the Champions Tour in 1998. He owns three tournament titles, winning the Pacific Bell Open in 1998 and 1999 and the SBC Open in 2000. He also compiled two runner-up finishes, three third-place efforts, 33 top-10 showings and 88 top-25 performances while missing only seven cuts in 276 events on the senior circuit. Inman has been heavily involved in community and charitable activities, particularly in the Atlanta area. He serves on the board of directors of First Tee Atlanta, and he founded the Larry Nelson-Joe Inman Foundation to support youth golf initiatives. As a collegian, Inman was a three-time All-American at Wake Forest, earning first-team honors in 1969 following second-team accolades in 1968 and honorable mention recognition in 1967. Playing on powerhouse teams under legendary coach Jesse Haddock, Inman helped the Demon Deacons to three straight Atlantic Coast Conference titles and top-three NCAA finishes in 1968 and 1969. His college teammates included future PGA Tour standouts Lanny Wadkins and Leonard Thompson. He graduated from Wake Forest in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in history and turned pro in 1972. Inman, 66, and his wife, Nancy, reside in Marietta, Ga., and have three children: Craig, Sally and Kate. His younger brother, John Inman, is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, current member of the Champions Tour and former head coach at North Carolina.

Former Georgia State men’s golfer Jared Cagle was named the Panthers’ assistant coach on July 1, 2013. Cagle played for Georgia State from 2007-12, graduating with a degree in psychology before earning his master’s in sports administration. In his first year, he guided Georgia State to one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Panthers earned a school-record four wins and recorded a second-place finish at the NCAA San Antonio Regional, before advancing to the fifth NCAA Championship in school history and a ranking as high as No. 43 in the country. The conference championship was the Panthers’ first since 2008 as three members of the team earned all-conference honors and two were named to the all-tournament team. While a student-athlete, the two-time CAA All-Academic honoree saw action in 25 tournaments for the Panthers with his best result a third-place finish at the 2010 Berkeley Hills Invitational. Even when not in the lineup, Cagle served as team captain and as a mentor to younger teammates, including his brother Grant (2010-14). Cagle was on a pair of conference runner-up teams and helped GSU win the 2012 Wexford Planation Intercollegiate. Individually, his most memorable

moment came at the 2009 Turtle Bay Resort Invitational in Hawaii, shooting a final-round 68 that included an opening nine 31 that led to a career-best tournament score finish. Cagle oversees all aspects of travel, practices and budget for the Panthers. His younger brother, Grant, was a senior on the team during the 2013-14 year. His youngest brother Carter is a freshman on the men’s basketball team this

Over the last 14 years, Georgia State has appeared in five NCAA Championships, to go along with 11 regional appearances with another two appearances made by individuals. The team made back-to-back appearances in 2004 and 2005, with its most recent appearance coming in 2014. The Panthers have finished in the top 15 in two of their five appearances with their best finish coming in 2004 as the team tied for 11th-place. Georgia State was one of just seven teams to finish 15th or better at both the 2004 and 2005 NCAA Championships. Joining the Panthers were Georgia Tech, Georgia, Washington, Kentucky, BYU and Oklahoma State. In 2008, Joel Sjoholm qualified for the championship as an individual and finished in 13th place, the best individual finish by a Panther golfer at the championship. Sjoholm earn first-team AllAmerica honors and became the first student-athlete in the history of Georgia State athletics to do so.

By winning the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Championship, Georgia State qualified for its 11th NCAA Regional appearance in the last 14 years. The Panthers made the best of it, finishing in second-place, behind only Georgia. It was the best result in a regional in program history and topped the fourth-place finish the program had at the Golf Club of Tennessee in 2004. On the heels of a second-round 66, senior Tyler Gruca finished alone in third place, the best individual finish by a Panther in postseason play. Davin White tied for eighth and Damon Stephenson tied for 12th as the Panthers finished as the only team with three golfers in the top 15.

2014 Sun Belt Conference Champions

During the last 15 years, Georgia State has won seven conference championships, spanning the Trans America Athletic Conference which became the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2001, to the Colonial Athletic Association which the squad joined for its first of two championships in 2006, to the Sun Belt which Georgia State joined in 2013. This past season, it came down to the final putt before Georgia State could be called champion. J.J. Grey two-putted the final hole to secure the title after Damon Stephenson drained an important birdie putt just one group before. Over that span four Panthers have earned low medallist honors at the conference championship, most recently Allen John during the 2009 CAA Championship at Callaway Gardens. John led the team to a tie for first-place with VCU, before falling to the Rams on the first play-off hole. John joined Joel Sjoholm (2008), Mark Haastrup (2006) and Allen Thompson (2001) as conference individual champions.

Georgia State University President Mark Becker ushered in a new era of Panther Athletics when he named veteran athletic administrator and “proven program builder” Charlie Cobb as Director of Athletics on Aug. 15, 2014.

president in January 2009, President Mark P. Becker has led the institution through a dynamic period of major growth and advancement. Under his leadership, the university adopted a comprehensive 10-year strategic plan aimed at making Georgia State one of the nation’s premier urban research universities. With a 10 percent increase in graduation rates in the last five years, Georgia State is achieving its vision of becoming a national model for undergraduate education by demonstrating that students of all backgrounds can succeed at high rates. The university has been recognized by the Education Trust for eliminating disparities in graduation rates based on race or ethnicity. Diverse Issues in Higher Education places Georgia State No. 1 in the nation among non-profit institutions in graduating African-American students and in the top 50 universities for graduating AsianAmericans. Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine lists Georgia State as a top 100 university for graduating Hispanics, making the university one of only two non-Florida universities in the Southeast to attain this achievement. During Becker’s tenure Georgia State has set a series of university records for retention and graduation rates, as well as for the retention of the Georgia Lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship. This progress has been achieved as enrollment has grown from about 28,000 to more than 32,000 students, and the number of applications to the university has steadily risen and now exceeds 13,000. Private scholarship funding has increased significantly, and the university has more than doubled the number of students receiving support in the last two years. Research funding is at an all-time high, increasing nearly 15 percent in the last year alone. Federally sponsored research now accounts for 62 percent of the university’s research portfolio, an important barometer of the university’s research success. This growth has been aided by the Second Century Initiative, a faculty hiring program that has led to the development of new interdisciplinary research centers.

Seeking to position Georgia State students and researchers to thrive in an increasingly complex and global landscape, Becker has worked with faculty leaders to enhance Georgia State’s international profile. The university is working in five countries in which it is focusing its university-wide efforts: Brazil, China, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey. Through its campus development, Georgia State is a major contributor to the revitalization of downtown Atlanta. Building on the work of former President Carl V. Patton, the university has expanded campus housing and dining, research and academic facilities. Georgia State enhanced its research capacity with the opening of the Parker H. “Pete” Petit Science Center in 2009 and is designing and building a second research building on the same site. The university enlarged its instructional capacity with a classroom expansion project completed in 2011. Student housing has almost doubled with the addition of Patton Hall, a Greek townhome complex, and the Piedmont North housing and dining complex. The opening of the $10 million football practice facility enabled Georgia State to introduce its football program in fall 2010. The purchase of 3.5 acres of land on the eastern edge of the campus has made it possible for the university to have its first intramural recreation fields on its downtown campus. The Sun Trust tower complex at 25 Park Place houses major units of the College of Arts and Sciences and the expanded university advising center. The university has a new front door for visitors with the opening last year of Centennial Hall at 100 Auburn Ave. The building houses Georgia State’s Welcome Center, university administration and the recently established Honors College. A new Law School building is nearing completion, and the university has acquired 55 Park Place, a high-rise building that will be the new home of the Robinson College of Business and the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.

Assuring that Georgia State is appropriately partnered in Atlanta and beyond, Becker serves on multiple civic, community and professional boards. Becker and his wife, Laura Voisinet, are significant contributors to the university. They are focusing their philanthropy primarily on scholarships for students but also support the university’s Library, the Rialto Center for the Arts and Georgia State’s Women’s Philanthropy Initiative. Prior to his appointment as president of Georgia State, Becker was executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of South Carolina. Before assuming that role, Becker spent three years at the University of Minnesota as a biostatistics professor, dean of the School of Public Health and assistant vice president of Public Health, Preparedness and Emergency Response. From 1989 to 2000, Becker was a professor and associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. He also has held academic appointments at the University of Washington, the University of Florida and Cornell University. Becker earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Towson State University in 1980, and his doctor’s degree in statistics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1985. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Towson State and Penn State have recognized him with distinguished alumnus awards. Becker grew up in Havre de Grace, Md., near Baltimore. He and his wife have two adult children, Matthew and Julia.

At Cobb’s introductory press conference, Becker noted the need for Georgia State to find a proven winner, someone who has built a winning program “the right way.” Becker said Cobb even took it a step further. “In fact, we got a bonus in this package. Not only is he a proven builder and proven winner with a track record of doing it in the right way, but he also has tremendous Atlanta roots,” Becker said. “He knows this community well, has worked in this city, knows what we are doing and the potential we have in this program.” After spending nine years as Director of Athletics at Appalachian State, Cobb is making a return to Atlanta. Previously he worked for six years honing his business acumen with the Atlanta Sports Council, the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl and the Georgia Dome, before his first venture into college athletics as an administrator at his alma mater NC State. Cobb came to the Panthers at the perfect time with several significant

athletic building projects on the horizon. High among the Panthers’ facility priorities are: a weight room at the football practice facility; a new basketball and volleyball practice facility; a dedicated academic performance center; and the University’s concept for redeveloping Turner Field into a mixed-use area inclusive of sporting venues. Those ideals helped him build and maintain a high-performing program at App State. The Mountaineers: won three consecutive Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championships, the first threepeat in FCS history. They also brought home eight consecutive Commissioner’s

Cup championships (top men’s sports program in the Southern Conference) and four Germann Cup championships (top women’s program). Together, they earned the men’s and women’s awards in the same academic year four times. At App State, Cobb helped create $50 million in facilities improvements as the Mountaineers’ fundraising efforts that reached all-time highs, including surpassing the $3 million mark. The jewel of the construction projects was the sevenstory Appalachian Athletics Center and the campaign also produced new homes for Mountaineer baseball, softball and soccer, as well as a new indoor practice facility. The 46-year-old Cobb was a fouryear letterwinner as a football player at NC State. He graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1990 and earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Ohio in 1992. As a senior center, he was named to the All-ACC second team and was an All-ACC academic selection. Cobb and his wife, Lindsay, have a son and daughter, 16-year-old Harrison and 13-year-old Branan. A new strength and conditioning facility for football is planned, to be added to the existing GSU Practice Complex.

SU carries a 14-member Sports Medicine and Nutrition staff of certified athletic trainers to provide outstanding care to Georgia State student-athletes in the prevention or treatment of injuries. Georgia State student-athletes benefit from outstanding sports medicine facilities at all venues and care is provided year-round and, most often, seven-daysa-week in season.

STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT Georgia State Athletics is committed to providing educational, personal and community development that will enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience. Georgia State’s commitment to academic support and student-athlete development is paying dividends as the Panthers are enjoying unprecedented success in the classroom. Georgia State’s Student-Athlete Development department became just the second in the nation to be certified at the highest level by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM: • Panther athletic teams have combined for a cumulative department grade-point average of at least 3.0 for 12 consecutive semesters • The 3.06 cumulative grade-point average by all student-athletes in the spring of 2014 was the best semester GPA on record, and the second straight semester with at least a 3.05 • In the most recent release, Georgia State led all Sun Belt schools in Graduation Success Rate at 86 percent, above the national average of 81 percent • A total of 13 student-athletes across nine sports have earned academic All-America honors since 1989, including one who was the 2013 NCAA Elite 89 Award winner in men’s tennis

COMMUNITY OUTREACH Giving back to the community is an essential component of the Georgia State athletics program. eorgia State has the honor of playing some of the very best courses in the Atlanta area. The Panthers have enjoyed Berkeley Hills Country Club as their home for the last four years and Eagle’s Landing Country Club for more than 10 years. Berkeley Hills Golf Club serves as host to the men’s golf team’s annual tournament, the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic. The Panthers will host the event for the fourth straight year in October. The private club is one of the top courses in the Atlanta area and was designed by Arthur Davis, Ron Kirby and Gary Player. Currently, U.S. Open champion and Ryder Cup member Stewart Cink calls the course home.

The van includes a wireless Internet router, power outlets for computers, refrigerator and room for up to nine. It is equipped with a mobile theater sound system, dvd player, wireless head set for each individual, overhead lighting and much more. The van is completley decked out with Georgia State logos on both the inside and outside, allowing our team to represent Georgia State to the fullest when on the road. The women’s golf team has hosted the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing for more than 10 years. The course used to host the LPGA’s Chickfil-a Charity Classic, which many considered to be the Tour’s fifth-major. The 27-hole facility features a state-of-theart driving range, full short-game practice area and full locker room facilities for the team to use.

THE SUN BELT AND GSU

eorgia State University started its climb to the highest levels of college athletics in 2012 when it announced it would join the Sun Belt Conference. On July 1, 2013, the Panther athletic department became eligible to win championships in every league-sponsored sport and a year later was fully reclassified to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The Panthers’ choice for a new home was a simple process considering the trajectory of the Sun Belt Conference. With its mantra “Together We Rise,” the league exemplifies what has become America’s most up-and-coming collegiate athletics conference. Founded in 1976, the Sun Belt has adapted and evolved in its nearly 40-year existence. The league was originally formed as a home for some of the nation’s premier mid-major basketball teams. With the demand for a higher national profile, the league began sponsoring football in 2001. The move into the group of football playing conferences has given the Sun Belt Conference a permanent seat on the NCAA’s 18-member Board of Directors and today the league has a crucial voice on some of the most pressing issues in college athletics. With the College Football Playoff included with the league’s other bowl arrangements, the Sun Belt Conference is tied to seven total bowl games. However, football is not the only sport that has seen recent success as all of the league’s sports have contributed to the “Rise” of the Sun Belt Conference. Georgia State put together one of the best performances in league history while winning the 2013-14 Sun Belt regularseason men’s basketball championship. Like women’s basketball, men’s teams earned three postseason bids in 2014. Baseball and softball also continue to be among the league’s standard-bearers for success. On the baseball diamond, the Sun Belt has sent up to four baseball teams to the NCAA tournament in a season, with UL Lafayette leading the way with a No. 1 national ranking in 2014. In softball, three teams have made the postseason, highlighted by the Ragin’ Cajuns who reached their sixth Women’s College World Series a year ago. Georgia State is looking to add to that success. So far, the Panthers have brought home league titles in women’s cross country (2012), men’s tennis (2013), men’s golf (2014) and women’s tennis (2014) in addition to the men’s basketball squad’s historic run. A total of 76 players earned All-Sun Belt recognition in the Panthers’ first two years back in the league. Off the field, student-athletes from around the league have been honored for their excellence in the classroom as well as their philanthropy in the community. Georgia State has added to the success since 2012-13, featuring two academic AllAmericans while posting two of the highest combined gradepoint averages in school history. Also in that span, Panther teams have contributed more than 5,000 hours of community service each year.

PANTHER BOOSTER CLUB Friends of Panther Golf: The Panther Golf Club has been a major factor in our teams’ success over the years and as I begin my seventh year, I hope that I can continue to build it into one of the best booster clubs in the country. However, I cannot accomplish our goal of bringing championships to Georgia State without your help. With 11 NCAA Regional appearances in the last 15 years, as well as seven conference championships, the Georgia State men’s golf program has become one that is synonymous with success and excellence. From the first team to reach the NCAA Regionals in 1999 to our five NCAA Championship appearances, we are going to continue to strive to bring in the best recruits that will allow is to reach our ultimate goals. As I have in the past, I must give a lot of credit to Trey Jones, Matt Clark and Kevin Propst who came before me. They set the foundation and developed the framework for what I hope to continue to build. In my first few years we accomplished a lot, but we still have a long way to go. We held two fundraising dinners with Hall of Famers, set up an agreement with Berkeley Hills Country Club, hired a full time assistant coach, and with your help, purchased a Mercedes Sprinter Van for the golf team. We are now working toward building a GSU golf practice facility and setting ourselves up for an excellent future. Several major donors have already stepped forward and I believe this can become a reality in the near future.

Three years ago, we launched the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club. AutoTrader.com allowed us to put on a first class event that will return again for the fourth edition in 2014. Personally, I know what it takes to help our young men get to the next level, but without the resources, including things like a practice facility, it will truly be very difficult. We can be good, but it will be difficult to be great. We have a solid nucleus of young men this year who are looking to bring an eighth conference championship to Georgia State along with an 12th NCAA Regional appearance. I can honestly say from Day One of the 2014-15 season, we have improved tremendously. We have recruited excellent young players and students for our 2015 class. The future is bright for Georgia State Golf and we want you to be a part of it. As I enter my seventh year here at Georgia State, I look forward to continue to meet each and every one of you that has supported the program.
