and A
EEQ - ISSUE 1 - Q and A
Q: So, first things first, what is EEQ? EEQ simply stands for Education, Experience and Qualifica tions. Its main aim is to rebrand the CV, an acronym that seems to be related to a particularly boring standard of listing your life experiences.
Q: You called this issue 1. Why? My EEQ is based around a magazine, so the articles inside will be designed by me and will show my work. The most relevant pieces i have created over the past few years make up this issue. The idea is when i have a new bunch of work i can create a second issue. Its kind of like a visual diary that you can read.
Q: Interesting. Tell us a bit about you? I have recently graduated from Birmingham City University. Their course in Visual communication was perfect for me as i was able to learn a lot about design, photography and illustration. Having this range of skills really helps when confronted with any project.
Photographer, illustrator and designer Glenn Tucker answers our questions on what EEQ is, why he created it and what he hopes it will achieve.
Q: So your a bit of an all rounder? I could almost say unfortunatly yes. I find myself wanting to partake in every level of each project as i find myself capable of contributing at every level.
Q: So what have you been doing since uni? My main job has been working for a web based jewellers. They wanted to create a new brand for launch in Germany and USA. I created their logo and designed the look and feel of the new web site. This included creating web banners and providing the product photography for new products. I have also written and illustrated a childrens book that i hope to get published in the new year.
Q: Sounds fun. well keep up the work and we look forward to issue 2!
Thanks, dont forget to check out my website for more of my illustrations, photographs and design projects. www.gripart.net

CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Kodega was developed with a minimilistic approach. The main idea behind the site was ease of use with attractive imagery heading the product home pages. Glenn’s responsbilities included designing the logo, navigation and aesthetics of the web site. He was also tasked with setting up a photography studio and creating all the imagery for the sites category pages. Glenn also provides all the product photography for new products introduced to the site. These include titanium jewellery, shaped wedding rings and all diamond accesories. The site and its pages are now live, fully translated and can be viewed at:

This included restructuring pages for optimum information placement and all photographic duties from product photography to documentry photography of the ring making process. BRAHAMA EMBRACE GINGA
Brahma Embrace was an online competition open for any artist or designer to enter. There were no limitations on medium used. The brief was to show “Spirit of Brazil.” Winning entries would be used on Brahma Packaging and posters would go on a tour of the Uk, showing in various galleries. Glenn chose to respond using illustration and felt the best way to show the “Spirit of Brazil” would be trhough their traditional dance. He chose to depict people as the national animals as he felt they were closely linked to this particular “Spirit.” The bend in the body would also act as a reflection of the bendy Brahma Bottle. LITTLE JACK SNAPPER BITE CRUNCH MUNCH
“Little Jack Snapper, believed that he had, the sharpest teeth in his town, boy he thought he was bad........ Follow the story of Jack Snapper as he learns through a frightful experience not to use his sharp teeth for devious deeds. The story is aimed at 4 to 45 year old children with the aim of being entertaining with good moral outcomes. The bright colours and fun characthers will hopefully capture the interest of most young children whereas the slightly surreal illustrations should also make most big kids smile (your never too old.) Glenn blames the dark nature of the illustrations and story line on some of his favourite artists, namely Tim Burton, Dave McKean and current favourite author Neill Gaimen. Glenn is currently in the process of testing out the story on friends, family, colleagues and teachers of the targeted age group.
