Guampedia.com Commemorates 75th Liberation with Fanhasso: War for Guam As the island commemorates the 75th Guam liberation, we present a new special section Fanhasso: War For Guam. This special section presents a myriad of stories of this period and from the perspective of the survivors who lived through this experience - I Mañainata - Guam’s World War II Survivors. “Fanhasso” means to
remember, to think, reflect. This section helps to put into context the massive impact WWII made on Guam’s cultural landscape and transmit the living history of our Survivors – especially to the island’s future generations. This section has more than 50 war survivor stories, over 30 entries, and a collection of multimedia resources commemorating a legacy
of inafamao’lek and inagoflie, reflecting this year’s theme, “Legacy of Peace and Friendship.” Our new section began as a collaboration with the 75th Liberation Education Committee to produce a book, “Guam Liberation 75 Years” and the Guam Museum’s Liberation Exhibition, ‘In Hahasso Ha’ - Nina’en Pås yan Inagofli’e.”
