On behalf of Canadian Interuniversity Sport and all 56 of our member universities, I am honoured to have the opportunity to welcome you to the 2014 CIS Women’s Rugby championships. Over 11,000 student-athletes compete each year for the right to represent their university in one of the 16 CIS championships. We congratulate you on attaining this goal and thank each of you for the inspiring performances you have provided us during the season and for those to come over the course of these championships. It is our privilege to watch you compete with such courage, dedication and talent. CIS championships would not be possible without the considerable time and effort devoted to them by our host committees and institutions. CIS success depends heavily on volunteers who invest innumerable hours, talents and skills in preparing a championship event. To them we all owe our deepest gratitude. CIS championships also allow the opportunity for alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and our CIS corporate partners to share some time together and enjoy the competition. I welcome all of you and thank you for your support. I know that all of you will take home warm memories and new friendships and will be richer for the experience you have gained through these CIS championships. These are exciting times in the CIS and I wish all participants much success and performances you can take pride in.
