And it's easier to use, even for people who are not car-savvy. It has all the usual late model Subaru reliability and ease of ownershiper it is fuel injected, computer managed and simple to start and operate. It's an unusual bird, with a fiberglass body on a VW chassis with fender flares and a water cooled modern power plant.Chrome style roll bars are easily removable (if they are not to your taste.) They are held in place by six bolts. Because the car is water cooled, the optional heater works well. It is visible in the trunk. The radiator lives under the front of the car, shrouded and flat. The car is virtually brand new with about 4300 miles on the newly rebuilt engine and chassis. The Subaru engine conversion was done correctly to a very high standard. The entire package works beautifully and it's hard to find any evidence of any wear or use.The small half windows are easy to remove (they have their own matching storage pouch), and keep some wind out of the cockpit. A correctly fitted convertible top in stay fast canvas is folded behind the seats and is easy to erect. A handsome full tonneau in matching canvas is also included. There's a nicely sewn cushion on the rear shelf. The convertible top and side curtains have never been used and come in a protective matching pouch. In addition to the wind deflectors are traditional soft side curtains lined with tan stayfast to match the top. This car is titled as a 1964 Volkswagen and is thus very easy to re-title anywhere in the U.S.. According to the current owner, this unique machine is more reliable than anything older and faster too!Following the auction, the buyer will be put in contact with the Connecticut seller to arrange pick up of the car or have it delivered (There would be a charge for delivery). Years later, back in Baton Rouge, throughout school and into college at the University of Southern Louisiana, Richard continued drawing and taught himself to use pastels. After joing the Navy, shipboard life did not allow Richard to paint, so he became proficient at ballpoint pen drawing. After the Naval service, Richard attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL, and decided to reside in Sarasota for 25 years after to which he began painting murals and working in advertising art. Mr. Shaffett has created work for Disney, Cunard Lines, Chris-Craft, U.S. Homes, Taylor-Woodrow and Harcourt Brace, as well as Playboy Magazine.
