To first kick off with my creative line of work, I want to start with my proudest piece, and that is Mangla. This part consists of the entire creative process to develope the entire brand. Not only it was one of the greatest experiences in my career, but it’s a journey that keeps pushing me as a designer everyday.

3

Graduation Exhibtion School of Plastic Arts, Old San Juan | 2015.

was born out of the purpose to connect the surfing culture in Puerto Rico with the nature element of mangroves. This ecosystem is found at the exact point where the salted waters of the ocean meet the sweet water of the rivers. Every design is based on a visual interpretation of local mangroves, using an high-impact palette of colors to underline the surfer in the middle of his or her experience.

4

CONCEPT OF THE BRAND At first, I was having a difficult time coming up with a solid concept. I was stuck with a name or idea related with the water or ocean and I needed to get out of the box. As I pursued something more than just; water, ocean or the traditional line of colors, my main focus was to empower the connection between surfing and nature. After developing the concept coming up with the name came like a breeze. Playing with the word manglar, which is the translation of mangroove in spanish, I took out the “r ” and came up with mangla. It was perfect because is a word that can be pronounced the same way in Spanish and English and it ’s easy to recognize.

5

LOGO DESIGNS The logo consists of the stylized term “mangla that is also underlined. The thypography

was vectorized from the Daft Font Typography to create the effects of the mangroove tree branchers. With a black pantone for official color.

Design 1 The first options was use only the word in order to stand alone and keep it simple.

Design 2 The second option was to include two mangroove branches an close it in a square, but after much consideration it looked a bit too much.

Design 3 The third design was the combination of the firts two optinos. It included the word underlined with a rough layout of a surfboard, but no too noticible. Not only it helped stand out the word, but it kept it simplistc and fun.

EDITORIAL design

Editorial design will be fotographic compositions of the ďŹ nal result in a variety of editorial publishing.

19

One of my favorite pieces is the 2014 calendar. It consists of the surfboard sas the main protagonist since they play a starring role to surfers. The layout was completed of croping around the boards and leaving some elements or backgrounds and adding them to a minimalistic white background creating a balance between surf, terrain, water and modern design.

20

Client | Leonardo Fifth Avenue This next piece is from one of my clients, Leonardo Fifth Avenue. A company that works by renting or selling custom mens tuxedos. I was part of the marketing team where I worked with the rebranding of the company as the creative coordinator.

21

In this particular project, I developed the concept for the upcoming Seniors 2018 Prom catalogue. My vision was a clean yet vibrant approach with space for pastel colors in the background, always emphazising on the client’s product. 22

WEB design

Client | Leonardo Fifth Avenue Working with front-end development has taugh me how to think differently with design. As a self-taught developer, I’ve gained the basic skills with programing, HTML, CSS & Javascript. Wordpress and Prestashop have become bridges for me to jump from a simple stand still desing into a fully UX design.

23

Client | Trident RMC

At Trident RMC, I had the chance to work with marketing experts who had a clear view of their final product. We developed a minimalistic design that catches the eye of reader to their services and offers. The whole platform was developed on Wordpress.

24

LOGO design

When it comes to designing logos I like the design to be as simple as possible, but also to uniquely engange the audience. My process involves using simple typography and incoporating a symbol, in some cases the symbol itself speaks louder than the words. I always follow my creative instinct based on the research that I gather from clients or from the companies and always come up with great results.

PHOTOGRAPHY art where I feel I’m in control. As a self -taugh photographer I found it challenging at the begining, but it didn’t take how I like to see the world and also how I engage to capture moments that not even words can describe. I have sharpen my skills in photography and use it as a lead element in my design process.

27

Graphic Graphic was one of my earliest pieces as a university project from my typography class. The project consists of choosing a word, which in this case is “Graphic and take photographs of objects, shapes and texture that looked like words and complete the word.

28

Photoshooting Series | 2014 Calendar I’m particularly proud of this work. For the shooting I asked my friends to lend some of their surdboards wheter they were old or new, it dind’t matter. I took them to various locations and went crazy with them. Shooting from beaches, abandoned buildings and even spaces full of trash, the final results were exactly what I expected.
