El Centro de Escultura de Candás Museo Antón, en su constante interés de divulgar nuevas aportaciones artísticas, quiere con esta exposición y el catálogo correspondiente reconocer la valía de Guillermo Basagoiti Brown, ganador de la Beca Antón de Ayuda a la Creación Escultórica en su edición de 2018. “En Expansión”es el título del proyecto escultórico premiado, que materializa y representa los impulsos más íntimos de la humanidad, el deseo como motor de la acción. Mi enhorabuena a Guillermo y mi reconocimiento a la Fundación EDP por el apoyo y patrocinio de la Beca Antón de Ayuda a la Creación Escultórica. Que de su continuidad se generen otras creaciones a las que podamos ayudar modestamente y con todo entusiasmo. The work of the artist consists in materializing the impossible, with his own language, his work as a tool and his imagination as the engine.

EN EXPANSIÓN EN EXPANSIÓN es un proyecto escultórico que materializa y representa los impulsos más íntimos del hombre, el deseo como motor de la acción. El artista presenta aquí formas rudimentarias capaces no sólo de contener, sino también de transmitir, representaciones de su propia mente, imaginación, intuición y razonamiento. La morfología de lo abstracto permite buscar y dónde sea necesario sobrepasar los límites reales o imaginarios dentro de los cuales nos solemos mover. A través de diferentes estructuras, imágenes y sensaciones, el espectador está invitado no sólo a sumergirse en la observación de un imaginario nuevo sino además a embarcarse en un viaje a su propio interior. En el recorrido habrá ´cuerpos´ de formas topológicas, de gran formato, en movimiento o estáticos, contenidos o en proceso de expansión, capaces de contener y aludir a la condición humana. Algunos de ellos superando el límite de su propia estructura material hasta el punto de transformación, permitiéndonos así apreciar su interior. Los audiovisuales nos llevan a considerar la propiedad transformadora de la fuerza, el límite. Habiendo conocido los diversos niveles de enfoque en los diferentes segmentos de la exposición, entrar físicamente en el Black Box es como entrar finalmente en el interior de un cuerpo imaginado. Es un juego del ‘dentro’ y ‘fuera’, un antes y un después. En Expansión es un proyecto en desarrollo donde el material en sí juega un papel muy importante. La materialidad forma parte del lenguaje de esta representación. Se trabaja con aire y materiales que se expanden y contraen. Se utiliza caucho para experimentar con las distintas capacidades y estados de la materia que nos conforma. El glitter magenta forma parte de la dicotomía, junto con el negro profundo del caucho, hablándonos de su posible interior. El contraste de los materiales y colores subraya su significado. La multiplicidad de técnicas y formas permite presentar un mundo potente procedente de un imaginario poético y lleno de sugerencias.

IN EXPANSION IN EXPANSION is a sculptural project that materializes and represents the most intimate impulses of man, desire as the motor of all action. The artist presents rudimentary forms that are capable not only of containing, but also of transmitting representations of his mind, imagination, intuition and reasoning. The morphology of the abstract allows exploring and where necessary, surpassing, the real or imaginary boundaries between which we gravitate. Through different structures, images and sensations the viewer is invited to not only immerse in the observation of a new imaginary but also to embark on a journey into their own interior. In the show there are ‘bodies’ of topological forms, in large format, moving or static, contained or in the process of expansion, capable of containing and alluding to human condition. Some of them exceeding the limit of their own material structure to the point of transformation, allowing us to appreciate its interior. The audiovisual work leads us to appreciate the transforming property of force, the limit. Getting to know the various levels of focus in the different segments of the exhibition, physically entering the Black Box, finally, is like entering the interior of an imagined body. It is a game of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’, a ´before and after´. In Expansion is a project in development where the material itself plays a very important role. Materiality is part of the language of this representation. Working with air and materials that expand and contract, rubber is used to experiment with the different capacities and states of the matter that shapes us. The pink glitter is part of the dichotomy, with the deep black of the rubber, talking about its possible interior. The contrast of materials and colors underscores their meaning. The variety in technique and form allows presenting a powerful world emerging from a poetic imaginary and full of suggestion.
