Gifts for your favorite teacher Forget bringing your teacher a shiny, red apple this holiday. Gift cards are what teachers want most! Baldwin County has specialty shops galore to help you pamper your favorite teacher with a unique gift. Visit the downtown areas of Fairhope, Foley and Daphne to find unique gifts or splurge on a gift card. Another fun idea, give your teacher a night out or a day of rest. Class moms may want to consider gathering donations from each student in the class to create a group gift and pay for a gift certificate for a massage, facial, pedicure or night out at a favorite local restaurant. And with multiple, highly anticipated movies hitting box offices this December, gift cards to local movie theaters can be a great way to give your favorite teacher a much deserved break. Whatever you choose to give, don’t forget to spread holiday cheer to your child’s teacher this year!

We polled teachers around Baldwin County and asked them what their favorite holiday gifts have been from students. Gift cards were at the top of the list. Gift cards to places like Target or World Market are ideal. – Anne Jones, Central Baldwin Middle School Gift cards to area restaurants are always nice, and anything with a monogram. – Rocky Moore, Fairhope High School Gift cards to anywhere for any amount, personalized stationery (note pads, note cards), snack baskets to take home for the holidays. Those are some of my all-time favorites! – Sara Altmyer, Gulf Shores Elementary Still, some teachers said they prefer gifts for their classroom such as supplies and games. Cheap headsets (not earbuds) for students, Amazon gift cards, copy paper (colored), Clorox wipes or any school supplies for students. – Gerri McDonald, Perdido School Books for the classroom, Expo markers, Teachers Pay Teachers.com gift certificates. – Claire Brown, Rosinton Elementary School When I was in the elementary classroom, I appreciated indoor plants or supplies/board games for my classroom. – Margaret Sharp, Daphne High School
