A Chino-Latino Fiesta
Asia de Cuba’s Chino-Latino flare took Bahrain Confidential on a culinary adventure!

ocated in the stylish complex, Gallery 21, Asia de Cuba is an internationally renowned restaurant, lounge and bar that offers a creative blend of Chino-Latino dishes. Bahrain Confidential indulges in this new genre of cuisine that is uniquely delicious. We’re glad that we visited on a Friday because we got to try the famous Chino-Latino Brunch. Things kicked off with a variety of tapas for sharing served in a bamboo steamer. This included pastelitos, chicken chicharrones, spring rolls, lamb picadillo empanada and our favourite, Chef Luis Pous’ signature shrimp churros. The churros we came to know were always sweet and oozing with chocolate or dulce de leche but the shrimp churros were a decadent savoury treat. The Crispy Calamari with banana, cashews, chayote and fresh hearts of palm with an orange sesame vinaigrette snatched our hearts immediately. Some of our favourites include the Cumin Dusted Tuna and the Ginger &

Papaya Marinated Palomilla steak with tatsoi, pickled vegetables and Thai chilli mojo. The creative blend of two distinctly different cultures was spectacular. What stood out from the rest was the restaurant’s live ceviches bar – you do not always get to experience a high-quality ceviche on the island. Aside from using fresh ingredients, it was also beautifully presented. Asia de Cuba is recognized for its selection of handcrafted cocktails and non-alcoholic cleansers – the Latino influence is truly awakened in their selection of signature sips. There is also a display of sweet indulgences for a sweet finish. Nevertheless, pretty much anything on the menu and the Chino Latino Brunch is worth a try. The ambience was refreshing – we loved how much light there was in the restaurant. We savoured every moment in beautiful surroundings complimented by live Latin groove that made us want to move. The exceptional service also made such a huge difference.
Open daily from 12 pm, Asia de Cuba plays on the senses with its living tropical wall and Washingtonia palm trees, further complimented by decadent bronze life-size statues and Art Deco finishings. The Chino-Latino
Brunch is available every Friday for BD 17.5++ from 1 pm to 4 pm with unlimited food and beverage including live ceviches, carving and dessert stations.
