First of all... I was hosting a friend who was in Bahrain on a weeklong trip. This was her first visit to the island. Like any other tourist, she wanted to explore the place and asked me for a list of ‘what to see in Bahrain?’ It got me thinking – can one wrap up sightseeing in a week? And if one had no choice, what spots must one not miss visiting?

Acting Assistant Editor: Melissa Nazareth Editorial Contributors David Hollywood Aiste Anusaite-Daubaras

Bahrain has fascinating history and culture, which we discovered, on our trip to the national museum. We were lucky to get the pop-up exhibition, Intersections, with new artifacts and exhibits, which will be there until the end of the year. Having made a good start, we headed to Bab-al-Bahrain where we toured the, thanks to Ramadan, beautifully lit souq dotted with traditional cafes, spice shops, and stores selling a range of souvenirs. The Muharraq souq, home to the over a century old Showaiter Halwa factory, is a must-visit too with its many traditional cafes, and spice and sweet shops.

Layout and Design: Mohamed Nada Photographer Shareef Panhatt Admin & Finance Nikesh Pola

The new Bahrain is as appealing as the old. The Lagoon in Amwaj Islands, Dragon City in Diyar Al Muharraq, Bahrain Financial Harbour, and Bahrain International Circuit are few of the spots we visited. We also went to the Arad and Riffa forts, Bin Matar House in Muharraq and Al Arayedh House of Poetry in Gudaibiya – all ancient structures but refurbished. The A’ali pottery place has quite some culture going on too, besides being an ideal souvenir destination.

No points for guessing we couldn’t see everything. But what we learned at the end of that week is: to discover the real Bahrain and how it has evolved in to the modern island that it is today, it’s important to visit places bustling with Bahrainis across generations; a few expats as well who have made this lovely island their home for years. People are truly the essence of any place!

THE GODDESS OF

SMALL THINGS An artist’s journey to self-discovery.

D

ina Okba is an Egyptian artist living in Bahrain. Well known in the island’s creative circles for her cold porcelain miniatures, she tells us she the first and only person in Bahrain and the Middle East to pursue this craft. Dina is also a qualified interior designer, and committed homemaker. She started teaching art after she moved to Bahrain in 2003 and currently conducts workshops for children at her studio in Janabiya. A confident and grounded woman, Dina has a vivacious personality with a dash of humour. But she confesses she wasn’t always like this and tells us how art helped her find herself. “I was born and raised in Algeria where I lived for 17 years,” she says. I moved to Egypt for high school after which I took up a college degree in fine arts. Dina comes from a family of exceptionally artistic people; her father is an architect, and her brothers, one an independent music composer in Italy and the other a tourism professional. During the same time, Dina got fascinated with south Asian culture, particularly Indian and Pakistani traditions. “My friends introduced me to my husband, a Pakistani, and after five years of courtship we got married.”

Tipping Point

“My husband and I moved to Saudi Arabia and my whole life instantly changed. The culture and lifestyle of Saudi Arabia is very

Dina Okba

different from that of Algeria and Egypt where I grew up. I was used to working before I got married but now spent most of my time at home. Eventually, I retreated into my shell; I stopped taking care of myself and gained a lot of weight. There were times when I’d cry for days wondering where my life was headed. I was depressed, and this was one of my lowest points.” It’s obvious that Dina didn’t give up. But what inspired her to turn a new leaf? “I am not one to surrender! One fine day, I thought to myself, I could either continue to wallow in self-pity or take life by the horns and ride it! Around the same my family – I had my daughter and son by this time – moved to Bahrain. I was determined to find a way to get my life back on track. I couldn’t continue my career in interior design because of the long hiatus. That’s when I figured out a new way to use my creativity.”

Dina transformed one of the rooms in their home into her studio where she organised art workshops for a few kids. “My studio is my haven,” she says. My husband calls it his worst enemy (chuckles)!” Gradually, people started noticing Dina’s work and even recommending her classes to their friends. “After a very long time I felt I was doing something worthwhile.”

Great Things Come in Small Packages

Dina was inspired by miniature craft from one of her childhood trips to Thailand. “After years of wanting to experiment with porcelain, I finally got down to doing it when we came to Bahrain. Every time I made something, my friends loved it, which spurred me on.” And the rest, as they say, is history.

art “I usually take over two days to finish a piece,” she says. “Assembling the miniature doesn’t take as long as working on the details does, like cooking and drying the clay. I want to make it look as life like as possible. Dina uses basic materials: homemade dough prepared from cornstarch, white glue, water and oil. She works with tools from her home or those found at the local craft shops. “I also use two other kinds of dough - salt ceramic and polymer clay - depending on what I’m making and the design.”

Dina the Explorer

Dina loves a new challenge. “I am not a Pakistani but I make delicious paranthas (read flat bread usually stuffed with vegetables, herbs or pulses). I didn’t want my husband to miss his childhood treats just because he married a foreigner!” Dina’s gastronomical delights have quite a fan following from family and friends to her husband’s colleagues. “I religiously pack them a few goodies every Thursday.” “My dinner parties are pretty popular too. Whenever I invite guests over, I make sure I take care of the minutest details like the crockery, décor, return gifts, and background music.” She goes on to tell us how she once drove her husband up the wall to get her a Chinese music CD.” I was hosting a Chinese themed dinner party,” she says playing an imaginary banhu (read traditional Chinese bowed string instrument) and mimicking it’s high-pitched, nasal sound.

Bright Future

Dina has inspired quite a few of her students including those averse to art, to pursue a career in it. So, who is Dina’s mentor? “My dad is the reason I took up fine arts in college. He bought me colours and art books, few of which I still have, instead of dolls as birthday presents. Dina also believes that her husband has supported her choices. “It took him a while to notice but once he did, he has only encouraged me.

We’re curious to know if Dina will ever get back to interior design. “Not formally, but I do work on friends’ homes every now and then, even my own home sometimes.” Right now Dina wants to focus on her miniatures. She runs porcelain workshops at her studio, makes personalised gift items for clients and even intends to open an online store someday. “I’m a piecean, a dreamer. Either I do it perfectly or not at all!”

Art in the Gulf Our editorial columnist Aiste A Daubaras decided to assume a new alter ego, that of an art critic. She shares her experience of visiting German artist Eva Graf’s ‘enchanting forest’ at Al Hilal Gardens in Budaiya.

Guests taking a tour of Eva's studio during the open house

I

always find it very enticing to receive an invitation to a private viewing held at the artist’s own home or studio, where his or her creations are displayed in their natural habitat, comfortably nestling in their own nooks and corners, away from a stressful exposure of impersonal blank spaces and harsh gallery lights; thus divulging their true essence along with artists’ creative scope at its best. And if the studio or house in question is a spacious, elegant villa in the luxury compound at Al Hilal Gardens in Budaiya, the evening in question immediately suffuses with a griping promise of an undiluted aesthetical pleasure. And indeed it did live up to our expectations to the full! Guided by the artist herself, our charismatic and talented hostess, Eva Graf, we were immediately immersed into a magical art lovers "Alice In Wonderland” experience, where tree barks or pinecones, dried flowers or feathers, sprayed in vibrant colours with a special fortifying spry, are transformed into montages, sculptures or

assemblages; thus reincarnating as original art pieces. The German born Eva Graf has travelled and lived in various continents, and in the process has acquired a vast collection of, otherwise easily overlooked, everyday objects and very simple beautiful pieces offered by nature; assembling them into the art of various forms, shapes and sizes. Eva's feminine, ingenious and easily comprehensible style can strike a cord with almost everyone. It is not difficult to envision her installations or sculptures fitting into, adorning and transforming any home or office space, no matter how large or small your premises may happen to be. But Eva Graf's multidimensional talent does not just end here... it overspills into an entirely different genre of acrylic paintings and pastel chalk drawings, executed with the same effortless ease, gentle fluidity and womanly passion. So it seems that there is a bit of everything for each and every taste. During our VIP guided tour we learned about all aspects of her creative process, which could even involve a very close collaboration with a potential client, choosing the theme, objects and form, and so creating a masterpiece together. We left the studio still basking in the warmth of the charming personality of the creator and the soft beauty of her art!

Enjoy ing the evening

A MOMENT IN TIME

Touring the Breitling Chronometrie.

Breitling Exospace B55

sheer luxury

No one does trips like Breitling – they fly to you off to Switzerland on a plane and then throw you out of one, writes Nick Cooksey who was invited to visit the home of the brand in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

T

he weather was cloudy and rainy. We landed in Neuchâtel, where we were staying, only to board another plane. Breitling, the luxury Swiss watch company, famous for their chronographs and association with aviation, had organised an exhilarating sky diving experience for us. Surprisingly, it was sunny and pleasant during the duration of our sky diving when we jumped from 14,000 feet - scary but fun - after which it returned to being gloomy. But our trip was far from gloomy for more than one reason. First of all, Neuchâtel, which means ‘new castle’, was going to be our home for the next two days. It’s a lovely town with breathtaking architecture,

28 Bahrain Confidential July 2016

and sits on a beautiful lake. Secondly, we were going to tour the development and production facility of the largest family owned Swiss watch company, belonging to the Schneider family since 1979. We had the honour to meet Mr JeanPaul Girardin, Vice President of Breitling, who along with Mr Aed Adwan, from Breitling Middle East, took us on a 3-hour tour of the Chronometrie. The factory is a beautiful building, cleverly designed to make future expansions, if any, easy. It is airy and spacious, and exceptionally clean, clinical almost; and is surrounded by woods, giving it a calming feel.

Though I have a great love of watches, I’ve never been particularly attracted to Breitling’s range of timepieces. I’ve always found them to be too big and busy. That said I have at least 20 friends who are fans of the brand, and they’re all men. Mr Girardin told me that the brand has its niche. “Our watches are traditionally technical and big,” he said, “and we want

to remain true to our style. We have a few, if not many, women who own Breitlings because they love wearing men’s watches as a style statement.” I noticed Mr Girardin and Mr Adwan wearing the latest Breitling Exospace B55. It has a stylish design with bright coloured straps and is truly a new generation connected chronograph because it is mechanical but you can plug it to your smart phone. On asking Mr Girardin, which watch he usually wears on his wrist, he said it is the prototype of the model they are working on at that time. We went on to talk about the Swiss watch industry in general and Mr Girardin told me there is no other real international industry in the world like the luxury watch industry, and that it is clearly dominated by Switzerland. “A luxury watch almost by its nature has to be Swiss,” he said. But Breitling are not just resting on their laurels. “We are well aware times have changed, and are investing in the industry and producing the best watches we can.” Breitling were one of the first companies to make chronograph watches in 1915. The company define themselves by three key points – ‘product’, particularly chronographs and technology, ‘the company’, which is family owned, and ‘close links with aviation’. It’s interesting to note that their brand ambassador, John Travolta, is a keen pilot and has various planes too. David Beckham used to be the face of Breitling for Bentley but not anymore. We discussed the Navitimer 01, which Mr Girardin told me has been the most popular watch among pilots and aeronautical enthusiasts since 1952. It is a technical

watch and stands out with its original design: a steel case and black dial with a red seconds hands, silver chronograph counters and applied hour-markers or numerals. It is also available in a red gold version with other dial colors. Going on this trip gave me a great

appreciation of the company, its professionalism, and its passion to make great watches; and I returned home feeling a lot more warmth towards the brand.

Timeless Icon The Officine Panerai Luminor Marina 1950 The P a n e r a i Manufacture in Neuchâtel is enhancing the history of the Luminor Marina by presenting the new Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic, fitted with the new P.9010 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days. The Luminor Marina was the first great success in the history of the Panerai brand. In the 1990s, after decades of creations produced for the Italian Navy, which were for many years covered by military secrecy, the Luminor with the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock was one of the models, which helped to make the Panerai brand known throughout the world, with its watches becoming icons of contemporary high quality sports watchmaking. The new Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic models differ in their dimensions, finish, materials and creative dial designs, but they share the functions and technical characteristics of the same movement, and all of them are developed from the Luminor 1950 case. This case is faithful to the historic design with the device protecting the winding crown made for the Italian Navy in the 1940s and 1950s, but it is now presented with subtly modified proportions: the dimensions of the new calibre have enabled the case to be much thinner and lighter than those of the models already in collection.

CROHN’S DISEASE On the Rise in Bahrain

T

he Bahrain Gastroenterology and Hepatology Center at Bahrain Specialist Hospital, under the leadership of Dr Najah Zayyani, conducted two major studies on Crohn’s disease and its prevalence amongst the Bahraini population. Data was collected from as far back as 1986 from a sample of over 500 Bahraini patients diagnosed and treated for Crohn’s disease. Researchers in both Bahrain and the United States analysed the information collected. The findings of these studies were presented at the 2016 Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in San Diego. DDW is an annual meeting held in the United States attended by medical professionals from around the globe. The first study, “Increasing incidence of Crohn’s disease in all age groups in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” is a retrospective investigation of 525 cases. It revealed that the incidence of this disease significantly increased from 1990 to 2015 following the global trend, reaching levels similar to those in the United States and Europe. “The results demonstrate 48 Bahrain Confidential July 2016

a rising incidence of Crohn’s disease in Bahrain among all ages with equally rapid increase in males and females as well as in children,” says Dr Najah Zayyani. The second study illustrated the clustering of the disease among certain Bahraini families, signifying a possibility of common source exposure in their environment. In addition, the large cluster of Crohn’s disease among family members, more so for 1st degree relatives, points to the role of genetics in this disease.

Dr Najah Zayyani at DDW in San Diego & Inset: The team with Dr Najah

to a possible link between Crohn’s disease and an exposure to a zoonotic infection responsible for a similar disease in cattle. Consequently, acquiring this infection may lead to the chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract manifesting as Crohn’s disease. The plan in the near future is to conduct a study treating Crohn’s disease patients with a novel combination of antibiotics to control this infection, hopefully offering a complete cure to this disease.

Visit bsh.com.bh It is vital to know what we are up against. As we learn more about this chronic disease we can improve diagnosis and treatment accordingly. “The recognition of an increasing problem of Crohn’s disease in Bahrain has important implications for its diagnosis and management, influencing the allocation of healthcare resources,” says Dr Najah Zayyani. We stayed in the Deluxe and Superior Rooms, which put us at ease from the moment we stepped in. The daylights were still shining bright and so we decided to nip to Amwaj Lagoon for a shisha. Flavours of Morocco, Bahrain’s first fine-dining Moroccan restaurant, had not opened when we were staying, else we’d have definitely gone there (Editor’s Note: Now open). Ramada Amwaj is within walking distance of the Amwaj Marina and Amwaj Lagoon. It’s also just a few minutes’ drive from Bahrain International Airport, making it easily accessible to both, the leisure and business districts of Manama.

The Night’s Still Bright

Dinner at Citrus was a lavish affair. We were given VIP treatment by the restaurant’s maître de and other staff. The all-day dining restaurant serves international cuisine. Our menu for the night included flavourful soups, and crunchy salads and starters that worked up quite an appetite for our main courses, which included steak, Indian curries and breads. We ended on a sweet note, an indulgent brownie with strawberries. Ramada Amwaj’s on-site dining list includes other great spots like the Lounge. It’s a relaxing place to unwind on the mezzanine floor offering light bites, tea and coffee brewed to your preference, and irresistible, tempting pastries. We’ve

• The first step is to collect all the clutter in the house. There are things hidden in a faraway corner of the house that can now be used for a different purpose. Rather than having a plastic soap dish in the kitchen, find a nice ceramic bowl that was not being used and turn it into a fun accessory for the kitchen sink.

• You might have spare cloth material or probably a bed sheet that does not go with the shade of a room. Do a creative spin on them and turn them into single curtains. Floral print curtains or vibrant prints are good options for a study, workroom, or a bare kitchen window. The cloth can also be easily turned into a table cover with lace trimmings on the side that can be attached with a simple stitch pattern.

home • Redecorating upholstery is fun too. Turn old pillow covers into laundry bags or re-decorate old photo-frames in the house by painting them with a bright colour and turn a drab space into a corner with energetic vibes. • Old bottles can be turned into stunning lamp options, all one has to do is drill a tiny hole with a glass pin cutter and insert little fairy lights. Not only did you enjoy your drink, but now you would have a set of beautiful lamps for the table too. Glass bottles can easily be turned into hanging lamps as well, making them sophisticated lighting alternatives.

• While creating a cozy corner or even while rearranging cushions and accessories in the living room, keep an odd grouping in mind. Even on ledges and mantles where you feel like re-arranging candle stands and vases, an odd number with variation in height and colour will make a lasting impression on guests who walk into the room. • Choose a wall in the house, preferably one that is more visible to people who walk in, and create a statement look for it. Either use mirrors or photo frames of varied sizes, you could arrange a console with a vase with fresh flower in it. The monotony of a passage breaks with such a decor that is not heavy on the pocket or tiring to set.

THE CAYENNE GTS 2016

So you say that SUVs don’t handle? The Cayenne disproves this with excellent steering and precise handling. Despite its bulk, this SUV handles beautifully, writes Nick Cooksey.

S

o you say that SUVs don’t handle? The Cayenne disproves this with excellent steering and precise handling. Despite its bulk, this SUV handles beautifully and is not only more sporty than a Range Rover Sport but also many sports cars. The base Cayenne produces 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque with a 3.6-liter V6; the Cayenne S gets 420 hp and 406 lbft of torque out of its V6. The Cayenne GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) has a 3.6-liter engine that’s tuned to

produce 440 hp and 442.5 lb-ft of torque, helped by twin turbochargers, and an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with all-wheel drive. The rear wheels are driven all the time, with power distributed to the front wheels as needed. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is standard, along with Porsche Traction Management (PTM). The Cayenne was facelifted last year, with a Macan-style front end and various enhancements. As standard, the new Cayenne GTS has the turbo nose section with large air intakes and the

Sport Design package, including more contoured side sills and wheel arch extensions. The colour black provides some striking contrasts: all lettering is black, as are the 20-inch wheels in the RS Spyder design, the exhaust tailpipes, the bi-xenon headlights' inner apertures and the fittings of the darkened LED rear lights. There's a new feature on the front doors: striking GTS lettering! On the inside, you have an eight-way electrically adjustable GTS sports seats in leather upholstery, including GTS lettering on the headrests, are fitted as standard. The interior GTS package

Spacious & stylish interior

After driving the luxury SUV for a few hours, it’s safe to say that though the Cayenne GTS 2016 is modestly powered, huge and quite raised, it is an absolute pleasure. Inside there are loads of buttons and switches, rather like being in a cockpit of a Boeing 747 it seems. The luxury SUV is priced at BD39,000.

THE INFINITI QX60 2016

The stylish, perfromance-driven SUV has a place with most families looking for a modern drive, writes Nick Cooksey.

T

he new Infiniti QX60 is a stylish, performance driven SUV, ideal for the needs of modern families. It is completely redesigned from the exterior and also features a host of new features and technologies for enhanced comfort, convenience and safety. This is a large vehicle, and its 265-hp V6 felt to me a little sluggish after having just driven a Porsche Cayenne GTS, but this is a family vehicle – a large family vehicle at that, and it is very comfortable as well as classy, and it’s anyway one

of the fastest three-row SUVs on the market. Featuring new suspension components and settings for better comfort and agility, and a revised steering system, the new QX60 is an Intelligent AllWheel Drive, fitted with a powerful and efficient 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. Elegant and modern, the new QX60 features the brand’s signature design cues such as double-wave bonnet, and crescent-cut D-pillar. Additionally, you can see the redesigned front double-

arch grille flanked by standard-fit bi-xenon headlamps. There is greater use of LED lighting, including new LED Daytime Running Lights as well as front fog lamps, which feature LED lighting and chrome finishers. On the interior, the SUV offers its signature driver-oriented cockpit, highlighted by thin chrome accents as well as an upper instrument panel wrapped in soft-touch material with contrast stitching. Seating offers Flexible options seating. The second row slides backwards and forwards, allowing

car review passengers to comfortably get in and out, and the third row offers plenty enough headroom for 6-foot passengers. All the seatbacks recline. Throughout the interior there is a rich combination of leather, wood and metals, this is a classy interior in every respect. The new QX60 features world-class technology. In addition to the already existing industry first features like Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Backup Collision Intervention and Around View Monitor, this model has Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) with Pedestrian Detection, making it one of the safest 7-seat crossovers in its segment from a technology perspective.

BAHRAIN NIGHTS

Ahmed Al Rayash has been in the entertainment business for 7 years. Currently the CEO of Vibes, his event management company, he also works with other event organisers. Bahrain Confidential gets the low-down on the island’s party scene in time for you to resume your moonlit adventures.

How has Bahrain’s nightlife evolved over the past decade? It’s only gotten better. Quite a few event organisers and investors have entered the market. But there is scope for more.

Why haven’t we been able to reach our full potential? We need more companies to sponsor events. Most investors in Bahrain are restricted by cultural beliefs, forcing organisers to pay from their pockets. Secondly, venues including a few hotels don’t want to take risks considering the challenging market. Ministry approvals are another factor. Things move quite slowly here which cuts down on organisers’ promotion time. Lastly, more people need to support more events. Many a time

great! For instance, Seal visited Bahrain and everyone loved him; I was there too! But there also is a market for interactive events like parties where food and drinks are served during the performance.

least one local DJ. In fact, one of my most successful events in Bahrain, Fire & Water Festival, which was organised at Amwaj Marina, was 100 percent Bahraini; right from the DJs to the staff, everyone was local. Around 1,800 people attended that event! I would recommend new comers to make themselves known to event organisers because most of them are happy to support them. It’s best to keep expectations low, at least initially, until your work has spoken for itself. There is no shame in starting small, no great DJ ever started with a large-scale event.

What would you tell local artists who believe opportunities to showcase their talent are few and far between? All my shows have at

What about local bands? I haven’t explored this lot but I know quite a few exceptionally talented bands in Bahrain. Many venues are happy to host their gigs; Polo Gastro Pub in Adliya is a classic example. Then there is Trib Fest

What are your views on events organised by the Ministry like concerts by popular Arabic and international artists? These are

Do organisers in Bahrain get too greedy too quickly? Unfortunately, yes. As an event organiser, I don’t go beyond BD15 per head. Few organisers go up to BD25, which is not reasonable! Additionally, food and drinks at the event are exorbitantly priced. Guests must never feel ripped off. I always say this: getting people to attend your event once is not as much of a challenge as is getting them to come back.

What do you focus on when you’re organising a show?

A motto you live by? Stay humble and never lose hope. Be innovative and try till you succeed.

Sensation! I’ve been travelling to Ibiza for the past six years. It was a proud moment for me to get talent from there to perform in Bahrain, like never before; a crane carried 3 aerial dancers who entertained the crowd. Even Dubai, which is so popular for its events, tweeted that Bahrain was the first to put up an Ibiza event in such a unique way. I was also on the organising team of Iconic Events who put up the Tiesto show in Doha. We were sold out by 11pm and it was a huge success! It's close to my heart because I’ve grown

The operation side or aftersales is as important as sales. Few things that I focus on are presentation, food and drinks’ prices, and customer service. Simple things make a big difference; for instance if you’re a five star hotel, you can’t serve

drinks in plastic cups! Another example of good service is allowing direct cash payments or using credit cards to bill guests for refreshments. Coupons work for beach parties but never for five star venues. I also recommend hotels hosting shows to keep service tax to a minimum. It is an investment because if guests don’t feel cheated, they will come back to your venue long after the event is over.

which doing a great job showcasing local talent! Jam Nights in clubs also promote local bands as do a few event organisers. Again, it’s important to get noticed, no matter how small the platform. Look at all those talented musicians in European countries, performing on the streets and at the stations!

lifestyle

Horoscopes Leo (23 July – 22 August) - You could be revisiting old

problems in your career or dealing with problems that others have created, but you also have the chance to breathe new life into projects you may have shelved. You will need to tone down your impatience with slower coworkers and stalled projects.

Virgo (23 August – 22 September) - You should guard against hasty or impatient actions this month. You could experience conflict between the demands of a partnership and the demands of career. Finding a balance between the two, instead of pushing or rebelling against either, is the challenge now.

Libra (23 September – 22 October) -

Professional and personal changes are very likely and circumstances this month tend to get the ball rolling in that direction. You are aligning yourself with new goals or recommitting to those already in place. You are easily engrossed learning special subjects and projects this month.

Scorpio

(23 October – 21 November) – This period brings great energy and many benefits to your social life. Wonderful opportunities can arise for new friendships and romantic adventures. Some of you may find romance through friends, groups and associates. Some might bring creative energy or skills to a group setting.

Sagittarius (22 November - 21

December) – You’re likely to be selfinvolved this month. If you are looking to reinvent yourself, this is the time to share yourself in an all-new way. Your personal impact is strong. You are likely to be in a frame of mind that involves review and caution.

Capricorn (22 December – 19 January) - You are

beginning a month that brings great benefits from helping others, volunteering and other forms of service. Spirituality is strong and your innate compassion is highlighted. A close relationship can begin, blossom, or demand attention. Resolutions are likely to be found for long-standing problems in relationships.

Pisces

(19 February – 20 March) - You are beginning a period that brings financial gain and stronger opportunities to grow a deep relationship. Your sense of security or wealth can increase through a relationship with a partner. Sources of income might also come through counselling work or the handling of others’ finances and resources

Aries (21 March – 19 April) - You begin a fabulous

month that boosts your self-confidence and brings personal opportunities to advance into your life. It can be easier to find a close buddy. Events and realizations this month can get the ball rolling for important changes. Love relationships can reach new depths of understanding

Taurus

(20 April – 20 May) - This month brings wonderful opportunities to boost your social life, explore your creativity and find new avenues for entertainment and self-expression. Even so, watch for a tendency to misplace your faith in someone this month. Be strict with yourself and others when it comes to your money.

Gemini (21 May – 20 June) - New interests,

projects and learning endeavors are featured in July and these may come about due to professional pressures or challenges. Career shifts can be sudden. You can be pulled in many different directions. Tame restlessness and tend to your responsibilities as best as you can.

Cancer

(21 June – 22 July) - You have opportunities to increase your income through education, travel, or by expanding your reach in business during this period. This is a good time to work with financial institutions, go for a raise, or apply for a loan. You may need to curb an inclination to overspend, however. Bollywood and Hollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra celebrates her birthday this month! We absolutely love her in this gorgeous blue Atelier Versace dress at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

Aquarius (20 January – 18 February) - This month boosts your natural magnetic appeal. You are in your element and others tend to be taking note. A sense of peace regarding work and health routines would be there. An opportunity to travel, further your education can arise in the last few days.
