This is an experimental series of art works. The paintings express Bilge’s pleasure in playing with form, colour, and texture. Prior to 2009, he developed a new style of painting that could be recognised as Turkish. To do this he researched old Uygur Turkish writing and used the sgrafitto technique to adapt these into Turkish weave forms. He contrasts these with his Turkish whirling technique. He developed this new style of oil painting by adapting the forms of traditional Turkish Ebru. The result generates a similar visual effect to marbling although often with a very high gloss finish. In many of these art works there is a ripple texture that gives the appearance of a ceramic finish.
