Micro tunnelling technology now allows for greater safety in non-homogeneous and unstable geological situations, as well as larger diameters. Machines include an extra pressure chamber behind the excavation chamber. Similar to Mix shields, support pressure is managed via a communication line and an automated air cushion within the pressure chamber. This improves control over diverse tunnel faces and decreases pressure peaks in excavation chambers. These machines are ideal for tunnelling operations that require sensitivity to settlement, even with strong groundwater pressure and shallow overburden.

We have HDD Rigs from 60 to 500 tonnes and can handle projects of any size and complexity.
We use modern Paratrack Guidance Steering tools, which are controlled remotely from the Control Cabin to drill precise pilot holes and follow the desired trajectory while protecting existing infrastructure.
We use specialised reaming tools, such as Barrel Reamers and Fly Cutters for softer terrain and Hole Openers for rocky strata, to enlarge the borehole to the appropriate diameter for pipe installation while maintaining geological integrity.
Our mud systems prioritise environmental sustainability by processing materials efficiently, recycling cuttings from boreholes, and reusing them responsibly.

Bluegrass Technologies Direct Pipe Technology enables pipeline installation under diverse geological conditions. This method combines the benefits of Micro tunnelling and Horizontal Directional Drilling technologies. A prefabricated pipeline can be constructed in one step while the borehole is excavated. This method enables rapid and cost-effective installation of pipelines longer than 1,500 metres.
The Direct Pipe approach minimises equipment footprint at launch and receiving points. This system is suitable for densely populated residential areas, as it requires just shallow launch and receiving pits, reducing the need for deep shaft construction. Following excavation, the micro tunnelling machine is recovered in 2-3 metre segments. Finally, the supply and discharge lines are withdrawn from the pipeline, completing the crossing, and installing the pipeline in one action.
The soil from the launch pit is dug using a slurrysupported Micro tunnelling Machine (AVN).
Excavated material is pumped through a slurry circuit in a prefabricated pipeline to an aboveground separation plant. The pipeline is laid out on rollers and welded to the end of the micro tunnelling equipment, then pushed into the borehole during excavation. The Pipe Thruster provides up to 500-750 tonnes of thrust in 5-meter increments, propelling the MicroTunnelling equipment forward alongside the pipeline.
The Pipe Thruster’s clamping unit transfers the thrust force to the pipeline, which is subsequently directed to the cutterhead.
Slurry-supported tunnelling technology allows for safe and constant management of the tunnel face during excavation, even in soils that are water-permeable.
The gyro-based TUnIS Navigation MTGyro system manages uphill and downhill grades, as well as precise curve drives along pipeline alignments, providing superior visibility than existing navigation technologies.
The Direct Pipe approach places the complete jobsite infrastructure, including the prefabricated pipeline, on one side of the crossing. This technology is perfect for creating sea outfalls (landfalls) where the pipeline is constructed directly from the mainland to open water, as it reduces logistics costs and footprint requirements at the reception site. After completing the specified distance, the machine can be recovered from the sea or lakebed.
