WELCOME WORDS

Welcome Words from the Head Organisers

One thing that the year 2020 taught us is that we cannot leave anybody behind. Hence, the theme for Digital Regional Selection Conference Kielce 2021 was born – togetherness. There is nothing more important than helping each other. Society may not look as we know it in a few years if we do not cooperate and acknowledge that the future is us. Kielce is one of the bigger cities located in the centre of Poland – and Europe. What makes Kielce stand out are the constantly progressing areas it is known for, while still maintaining the sense of locality and cultural identity. Starting from agriculture, going through limestone mining, metallurgic resources and nowadays focusing on promoting technology. With the renowned University of Technology and initiatives such as Technology Park – uniting the corporations from Poland and abroad. Kielce is an example that inspired us for this session’s main objective Togetherness: sense of belonging in a digital era. Moreover, 2020 enhanced the already progressive process of digitalisation. Undoubtedly, it happened unexpectedly and developed immediately. We were forced to adapt to the abrupt changes. Traditional parts of our lives, such as school and friends meetings, were moved to virtual reality. Our presence on the Internet is more noticeable than ever before. We learned how to choose the best parts of it and use it efficiently. Nevertheless, it also exposed how much we depend on technology. It highlighted some omitted issues and now they are visible more than ever.

By organising this session we want to raise awareness about the current processes, explore its benefits and observe threats. We see digitalisation as a huge opportunity to strengthen the EYP community. We wish that during the session everybody feels the sense of belonging. Furthermore, we aspire to make everybody feel welcomed. Our aim is to confirm everyone’s belief that this is the right place at the right time. Crucial part of our vision is appreciating each other. Moreover, we intend to focus on each individual, their work and personality. Love, Head Organisers of Kielce RSC 2021, Magdalena Kwiecień & Aleksandra Niemiec

Welcome Words from the Academic Board Dearest Officials, Delegates, and participants, dear everyone, Whether this is your first time embarking on the EYP journey as a delegate or your hundredth time as an official, we hope that Kielce RSC will offer you something unique, that it will allow you to explore a different perspective and create something meaningful. For the past month, we have been working tirelessly on every aspect of this session, pouring all our love and energy into making this experience meaningful and impactful for all of you. To us, the Kielce RSC represents a constant search for balance: between development and enjoyment, between progress and reflection, among all the things happening in these uncertain times. To help you make the most of this experience, we have one thing to ask: take ownership over this experience and ensure that it will mean something for you! We encourage you to view Kielce as a safe space for the exchange of ideas and opinions, as a welcoming environment of receptiveness and understanding. The Board and the Academic team as a whole will always be there to support your experimentation and your creativity; if there is anything that we can do to enhance your session experience, please let us know and we will be happy to help you out. Do not hesitate to contact us at any point during the session for further help or guidance; we are

looking forward to seeing your smiling faces and to warmly welcome you on Zoom! In doing so, we are all embodying the theme of the session that brought us together: we are using all the innovative digital tools at our disposal to create a unique sense of togetherness. As you are getting introduced to the passionate individuals behind the Kielce RSC, you may find it hard to believe that a few days in front of your computer can be so impactful. Still, we ask you to take some time to count the smiles, the sleepless nights, the texts of gratitude, and the bursts of excitement that have gone into making this experience so unique and meaningful. We are here to provide you with the space for your creativity; it is up to you to decide what to create with this and how to reflect on the memories we will build together. Having seen the hard work behind the preparation of the Kielce RSC, all that is left to say now is that we are grateful to everyone that decided to join us in achieving this shared goal, in exploring the elements that help us create a sense of community and togetherness in this digital era. We cannot wait to meet you all digitally and we hope you are as excited as we are to make this session a reality! With great excitement and gratitude, The Board of Kielce RSC 2021, Kuba, Monica, Raphael

Welcome Words from the Editorial Team Lovely participants of Kielce, We are beyond honoured to be given the chance of editing the Kielce 2021 Digital Regional Selection Conference of EYP Poland. Our entire generation facing a great breakdown through a pandemic, being challenged by a great loneliness has thrown us to the secure arms of the EYP community. Once more, we remember how accepting, crowded, colorful EYP indeed is whilst holding the power to rescue us from this bottomless crevasse. Thus, we find the theme of the session genuinely inspiring: “Togetherness: sense of belonging in a digital era”. Working with this creative team, editing their aspiring work, your editorial team along with the media team will seek every opportunity for Kielce 2021 to be a session where we discover how to connect with each other; overcoming the physical distance between us. This session is the perfect place to pioneer ways to connect through digital platforms as the theme already suggested. Main focus being what we hope to see more at the sessions in the future; the creating and capturing memories, the media team of Kielce 2021 will work in diverse fields and will have a chance to experiment with unique ideas. There will be projects that are collaboratively created by all of the participants and some projects to create a closer bond within all participants and a bond between them and the session as a whole. Additionally, some of the projects will be dedicated to the academic part of the session; to inform the youth about critical issues and the actions they can take. Although these will be the main goals of the media team in Kielce, I am hoping to shape the work of the media team altogether with the editorial and the media team. On behalf of our both innovative and motivated media team, we are fully ready and eager to explore and experiment with ways to feel together and connected in digital environments. Our only hope from now on is that beloved participants of Kielce 2012 will be willing to take part in our projects. Therefore we encourage all of you to get involved with our projects and activities and experiment with us on this unique journey. We would love to finish our welcoming as two Turkish EYP with a quote from a very important Turkish photographer Ara Güler: “If the best camera were to capture the best shot, the one with the best typewriter would write the best novel.” Regarding this precious advice from a great media doyen, technical problems, conditions and even pandemics shouldn’t bother your work. Your art grows its roots from your heart, platforms are secondary. Trust yourself, it will tell you the biggest art. See you at the session and stay tuned for the media team projects, Editorial Team of Kielce RSC 2021, Aslı & Güneş

Welcome Words from the Head of Jury Dear participants of Kielce 2021, Welcome to the second digital regional session of EYP Poland. On behalf of the jury team, we’re really looking forward to meeting you all and the fruitful discussions you will all contribute to! Even though we cannot meet physically, we will try to bring the atmosphere of a physical session to you! During the session, my team will be evaluating and selecting delegates for future EYP sessions. It’s important to remember though that despite whoever is selected, you will still be able to apply to join the national session in Katowice and become members of EYP Poland. I’m sure you will very much enjoy the unique world of EYP, and make the most of the short time we have together. The most important things are that you have fun, make new friends, and learn new things! We’ll also be able to provide you with feedback so that you can grow from this experience. Thank you for participating in this session and excited to work with you! All the best, Jason Yu, Head of Jury of Kielce RSC 2021
