CONCEPT - " Pictogram " - Elements And Place Spirit Each site has its unique characteristics and interesting side. I believe that each site is telling its own story. As designers, we should understand them deeply and express them. We need to use natural elements as design inspirations or materials to strengthen the qualities of sites and make them fits the common aesthetics better, enhancing the characteristics of the space through design. In many projects designed during the undergraduate period, four projects that fit the theme were selected. The topics of them vary from small scale landscape design to urban or territory design, covering the soil and community autonomy, water and education area, electricity and activate landscape belt, as well as the fire and Tibetan sacrificial route. I hope to explore the designers' understanding of these three elements of Natural Elements, Space and Place Spirit.

Project Brief: Many countries are currently facing the crisis of the aged population. In China, senior scholars often have higher professionalism and cultural pursuits before retirement, but the community's outdated and highly homogenized infrastructure can no longer provide high-quality activity sites. So how to create a community environment that conforms to senior scholars' habits, reflects their social value, and avoids their spiritual emptiness is an issue worthy of attention. The site is located in a residential area attached to Nanjing Agricultural University, where most users are retired agronomy professors. Combining the research direction of Nanjing Agricultural University Aquaponics, the site is used as a test field for community autonomy. By using the method of community autonomy and the resources of Nanjing Agricultural University, the project has a goal to enrich the spirit of the retired agronomy professor.

In this system, plants can grow on rafts floating on water. Usually, raft carrying the plants is placed in a tank different from tank carrying the fish. Water from fish tank enters tank with raft through the filter assembly, and then circulates back to fish tank. Nitrifying bacteria were found in the raft tank and remained there throughout the system.

Media - packed Bed Aquaculture Utilize force phenomenon of liquid level difference. After filling iquid into an inverted U-shaped tubular structure, place high end of opening in a container filled with liquid. Liquid in container will continue to flow out through siphon to a lower position to ensure sufficient moisture for vegetables. There is no risk of roots being submerged

ISSUES
We hope to use the fractured landscape belt as a PACEMAKER for the chaotic Beijing city, and integrate the functions of transportation, business and landscape by transforming dysfunctional Beijing North Railway Station into a multifunctional infrastructure that constantly delivers vitality like a PULSE GENERATOR, and use reconstructed light rail and market route as the lead ELECTRODE OF THE PACEMAKER to bring VITALITY PULSES such as business, community activities, and urban greening to the deactivated communities. Through this new lifestyle, the site can be rejuvenated.

Mountain And Fire--The Dry-Hot Valley Climate in Muli County and the increased extreme weather events have exacerbated uncertainties and caused frequent mountain fires in this area. The rescue has been more challenging to carry out because of the unpredictable fire behavior caused by complex terrain, changing wind directions, and flammable vegetation. Fire And Tibetan--Fire has always been a tool for Tibetans to communicate with the gods. Traditional activities include always-lit fire ponds in Tibetan homes, burning mulberry furnaces in front of the temple. Mountain And Tibetan--Tibetans have a strict worship system of sacred mountains. They believe that walking around the sacred mountains on foot can wash away the sins of their lives. The project aims to design a Sacrificial Place with Fire Control Management to reduce fire hazards. At the same time, convert Forest Fire to Religious Culture (Turning Mountain & Simmering Mulberry) and Economic Growth (Morel) when inevitable fires occur.

“MOUNTAIN RITUAL ROUTE” Master Plan--Tibetan Mountain Ritual Route Design
Water Trap Principle
Superimpose the area with a slope greater than 70 degrees (the area prone to deflagration) and with severe foehn effect to obtain a forest fire danger zone, and place fire protection modules in these areas along the mountain ritual route
Weather Corrector Principle
The fire protection module captures and stores fog and rain through water trap, and Weather Corrector sprays fog and cypress seeds in dry & hot weather to change microclimate and form fire protection belt Dry+hot air:

SITE1: “SACRIFICE PLACE” Master Plan--Sacrifice Place
Water Storage Principle
The sacrificial site is located in a dense forest area with high humidity and adjacent to a fire-dangerous area. It serves as a water storage node for the fire prevention route. and the sacrificial route is designed based on the dialogue between ancient and modern people and the god of fire.
Water stored in water storage line falls along scripture wall, then it is wetted, indicating the appearance of God in people's hearts. The prism reservoir reflects sun’s rays and symbolizes Fengma flag, a symbol of Tibetan sacrifices. 2

“Mountain Ritual Route”
“Sacrifice Place”
“Morel Production”
The devices are placed in fire-prone areas. When the fire does not occur, the climate modifier spreads cypress seeds to form a fire belt. At the same time, when the climate is dry, the water collected by the water collecting device is used to spread the mist to reduce the probability of forest fire. In the event of a fire, the device and the cypress trees growing around it serve as a fire belt to minimize the fire threat damage to people.
The site could collect rainwater. The fog is condensed and stored in reservoirs placing along the Pilgrimage Paths. The collected water slowly wets the scripture wall. The light beam reflected by the pool symbolizes the Fengma flag advocated by the Tibetans, representing the dialogue between man and god. When a forest fire occurs, the reservoir can serve as a water source for rescue. The high-humidity water collection line also reduces the probability of fire to a certain extent, and the relationship between fire and people becomes more harmonized.
When the fire did not occur, the site was used as a production line for morel mushroom bricks and planting modules, serving as an economical source for Tianer Village. When a fire comes, the cypress fire belts formed by the climate corrector, along with the water collected by the water collection device, form a fire line to resist the fire. After the fire, the production of morel planting modules reduced economic losses for the village

It shows the source of the water flow within the site and the location of the site in the city.
Project Brief: With the popularization of LID technology in China and the ageing urban green infrastructure in the last century, many city sites were unable to perform their original functions. How to use new technology to micro-scale renew the urban infrastructure is the main subject of this project. In the current situation, the rigid revetment, single water collection form, and the ageing infrastructure are gradually weakening the function of the site as a water education area. Mainly through studying contours, shapes, water catchment speed and population distribution, I use mud molds, 3D printing, drawing sections and contour lines , then gradually generate a site with a beautiful shape and educational value, allowing visitors to see the process of rainwater being collected and purified during the rainy season.

In addition, the site is adjacent to the urban river, I find the rainfall condition in Nanjing over the years, and design a reasonable inundation buffer zone, presenting different waterfront landscapes in the wet and dry seasons.
