GURT Resource Centre for NGO Development
ANNUAL REPORT 2000
Kyiv, Ukraine 2001
A CHANGING SOCIETY The country of Ukraine is at an historic turning point-unparalleled in its environmental mix of opportunity, complexity and challenge. The rise of democracy has been the catalyst of vast societal changes on many levels; of these, the emergence of a third sector and growth of a civil society remain on the forefront. The needs of society are great, as they are diverse. In response to these needs, a third sector of “non-governmental organizations” (NGOs) has developed and is evolving throughout Ukraine. Just as the needs of society are great, as too are those of the young third sector of NGOs. To assist in developing this rising sector, and thus encourage a vital civil society in Ukrain, GURT Resource Centre for NGO Development was founded in 1995. We started with serving Kyiv NGOs. Since then, our regional coverage has expanded, our range of services has increased and our list of clients has grown. What do we look like today? Our door is always open… we invite you to turn the page and “come inside” to find out!
