Phillip Tripp, of Cobden, holds his dog Tinker Tuesday at his home. Tripp said he took the dog in after a friend no longer wanted her. Tripp said he retired from the Forest Service about a year ago and bought roughly an acre of land and a fifth wheel trailer that he lives in. When asked how he spends his retirement, Tripp said he’s just “trying to find something to do with the time.”

About Us The Daily Egyptian is published by the students of Southern Illinois University Carbondale 50 weeks per year, with an average daily circulation of 20,000. Fall and spring semester editions run Monday through Friday. Summer editions run Tuesday through Thursday. All intersession editions will run on Wednesdays. Spring break and Thanksgiving editions are distributed on Mondays of the pertaining weeks. Free copies are distributed in the Carbondale, Murphysboro and Carterville communities.
