A cube was designed following square root proportion. After the cube was succesfully executed, it was required to design contemplation paths around it. By rotating it and projecting it, a path with included topography, was developed which completely circled the cube and allowed it to be viewed from all angles, while also having a dynamic trail to enjoy. In this conceptual and abstract project, set the fundaments of future design methodology. project from cube on site

The trolley stop is designed to fit the everyday life of the university campus. The stop has an axis in its interior, between two corners that allows pedestrian flow. In the design, the structural elements are highlited to demonstrate the designs lightness and transparency. The roof is angled so that solar panels may be placed, making the stop self-sufficient; the angle also serves as a solution to deal with pluvial runoff. The seat in the stop is made up of two tubes, since the stop is a transitional space and adjusts to the little time the user will wait seated.

The Paradise: out of time; out of function. The rehabilitation proposal of the Paradise uses its current state to generate an expression that reflects the state in which the Paradise is in. Its interior and all its walls are removed to accomodate a modern style that in its “erratic” angularities, symbolize the destruction of time and function. The facade reflects what the Paradise was: a shell that remains as a memory of the past, which protects within it a reality outside of it.

HOSTEL FORArch. HISTORIANS Magdalena Campo, PhD. at Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras studio design work second year studio
This project is situated in Cayey, Puerto Rico. The site is particular because it’s on a mountain and has a Roadman’s House in the premises. The design requires the integration of this Roadman’s House into the hostel.

This Hostel must be tailored to the needs of historians, which is why a library is one of the predominant functions in t he program. The design, amidst its triangulations, engufulls the Roadman’s House somewhat until it frees up its views. Library and room prorams are carefully hidden in the terrain, freeing up the main space behind the Roadman’s House for use as a plaza. 11...

Colegio San Ignacio requested from our studio a Master Plan. The original campus was designed by Henry Klumb, an important figure in Puerto Rican architectural history. The campus presently counts with 8 academic buildings and 1 building for the Society of Jesus. The orientation of the buildings promptly indicated the parti: enclose the campus in a pedestrian triangle. 13...

MARTÍN PEÑA HIGH SCHOOL
The Martn Peña High School, located at the edge of an important avenue, must address an urban front, as well as houses at the opposite end. This is why the concpet was envisioned as a nucleus of vegetated recreation area enclosed by buildings, the taller buildings towards the front of the avenue, and the lower buildings towards the houses. This way, not only was the scale problem solved but also provided a way of securing the school, having administrative buildings facing towards the classrooms, while also providing ample vegetated recreation area for the students.

SUSTAINABLEArch. HOUSING UNIT Rodrigo Carbajal at ELISAVA - Escola Superior de Disseny i Enginyeria de Barcelona studio design work fourth year studio
with: Alejandro RodrĂguez and Mara Liz DĂaz
This project was done at a studyabroad studio program at ELISAVA in Barcelona. Working in group, a design for a sustainable house was developed. It was required to design this house using the plug-in for Rhino, Grasshopper. Amongst the three a design concept was elaborated. Personally I was in charge of critique in design execution and the technical drawings, 3D renders and presentation material.

The new Performing Arts Center in the Mayagüez campus of the Universidad de Puerto Rico is a design that integrates both the institutional character of the theater with the academic aspect of the performing arts. This theater serves as a hybrid, combining the theater core, along with administrative offices, and educational floors. The building brings a new and attractive facade to the mainaccess of the campus, dignifying a once completely utilitarian and underdeveloped road.

The structure is also envisioned as a mechanism to fuse the aspects of “in-door” activities of education and performance with urbanism, creating plazas, and squares that connect spaces and activate once dead areas.
