Remote customer service employees won’t have the direct access to management and fellow team members that they had when working on-site, so business owners can employ central management platforms that make it easy to access information regarding new products and services and previous interactions with and responses to customers. That access can help solve issues while reducing the likelihood of substantial lag time as customer service employees wait to hear from coworkers and managers about how to respond to certain issues. 7062 Lewiston Rd., Oakfield, NY (585) 948-6070 Stop in for great food with Cajun flair! A landmark study conducted by researchers in the United Kingdom discovered a notable link between low to moderate alcohol consumption and breast cancer risk. According to the Million Women Study, every 10 grams (roughly 0.35 ounces) of alcohol a woman consumed per day was associated with a 12 percent increase in her risk for breast cancer. The Million Women Study focused on various areas of women’s health but included 28,000 women who had breast cancer. In addition, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism notes that more than 100 epidemiologic studies have examined a potential association between alcohol consumption and the risk for breast cancer, consistently finding that risk for the disease increases as alcohol intake increases. Prospective investors can compare the potential return on investment after the cost of property managers has been factored in to the return they might get from more traditional investments to determine if investing in real estate is a sound financial decision.
DID YOU KNOW?
Prospective real estate investors who hope to buy, hold and rent out their investment properties should first interview potential property managers before buying homes. While it’s possible to find property managers willing to manage single-family homes or duplexes, the financial resource Bankrate.com notes that many property managers prefer to manage large apartment complexes instead. Managing properties is hard work, and without skilled property managers on their side, real estate investors may become overwhelmed by the responsibilities of taking care of their real estate investments while simultaneously trying to maintain their own residences. Before buying investment properties, prospective real estate investors should interview various local property managers or property management firms, inquiring about their fees and what is included in those fees. If the cost of hiring property managers drastically cuts into the profits investors hoped to make off their investment properties, they might be better off looking to invest their money in areas other than real estate.

When nurses go to work each day, many report to hospitals while others work at private practices. For others, a day at the office takes place at research labs. According to the online nursing resource Nurse.org, research nurses develop and implement studies to investigate and provide information on new medications, vaccinations and medical procedures. Research nurses, sometimes referred to as clinical nurse researchers or nurse researchers, typically have advanced degrees, and many first work as research assistants, clinical data collectors and/or clinical research monitors to gain some practical experience as they pursue or consider pursuing their degrees. Some research nurses even conduct independent research, though Nurse.org notes that such professionals need advanced degrees such as an MSN or Ph.D. to pursue such a path. Several scientists are now predicting a catastrophic flood is expected to strike California within the next four decades. The severity of the flood is expected to be beyond anything in living memory, potentially spanning the entirety of the state and turning lower regions into a “vast inland sea.” If you lived in California today, would you be inclined to move?

Vary the food and beverage menu. Chicken wings and beer might seem like go-to foods and beverages for the big game, but even sports bars are increasingly recognizing sports fans’ desire for healthy foods. It’s still acceptable to serve staples like wings, nachos, chips, and pretzels, but try to provide some healthy fare like celery and salad as well. Even wholegrain pretzels might be more enticing to guests watching what they eat. In addition, provide alternatives to alcohol, such as water, soda and juice, for guests who are abstaining.
Hundreds of millions of people across the globe enjoy sports, and many are fond of gathering with fellow fans to watch their favorite teams play, whether in-person or on television. Viewing parties are a great way to watch the big game with fellow fans, and such gatherings don’t have to require all that much effort on the part of hosts.
HOST A SPORTS VIEWING PARTY TO REMEMBER
Make it a potluck affair. Potluck affairs make perfect sense for sports viewing parties, so don’t be surprised if guests offer to whip up some homemade guacamole or a buffet-style dish for the big party. Encourage this, asking guests to share what they’re bringing with other invitees so there are no duplicate offerings.

However, the incidence rate of testicular cancer has been increasing in many countries, including the United States, for several decades. The reasons for that are unknown, though the rise in incidences underscores the need for men, especially young men, to discuss testicular cancer, including its risk factors and symptoms, with their physicians.

* To clean out the drawers of my husband’s tool cabinet without disturbing the tools, I tucked a knee-high panty hose leg over my vacuum cleaner wand. Most things stayed put, but the one or two small pieces of hardware that got sucked up were easily retrieved. I also did this on his workbench. I picked up all the dust and shavings along with the stray pieces of hardware. I pulled them out of the hose leg, and they were in a tidy pile for him to put away. -- U.L. in Kansas

On pizza nights, I pick up the dough first thing on the way home from work. I get it close to my work and let it sit in a bowl in the car while I pick up the kids and drive home. That evolution has made it easier than ever for deaf individuals to communicate. The NDC notes that telecommunications technology for deaf individuals is an umbrella term that includes telephone devices, platforms and services that are employed when standard phones are ineffective. The NDC identifies three primary telecommunications 1.services:Videorelay service (VRS) 2. Telecommunications relay service (TRS) 3. Video remote interpreting (VRI) Regulated by the Federal Communications Commission,VRS andTRS are free programs, whereas VRI is a fee-based service. TRS is a text-driven service that, unlike VRI and VRS, does not employ video.

Congratulations, Avon Corn Fest! Thank you to the Avon Rotary Club and all those who worked so hard to make this year’s Corn Festival one of the best yet! After a two year hiatus due to Covid, it was wonderful to come together as a community again and enjoy the music, the food, and the great entertainment! Nicely Done! A shout out to the Avon Class of 1972 for hosting a wonderful Reunion Banquet dinner this past Friday! All classes are welcome to join again next year as the class of 1973 will host. Thank you, local drive-in! My family and I visited a local drive-in movie theatre over the weekend and were very favorably No Good Deed On August 11th, I was heading to work when a small black and white dog ran in front of my vehicle. I caught it and called my daughter to come get it and start going door-to-door. She proceeded to do so and was advised to go to the post office and leave a flyer. While there, she asked a guy if he recognized the dog. He didn’t, but said he would house the dog and put up a flyer as we had a big dog at home and didn’t know how he will welcome a small dog. I also posted it on our town's Facebook page. Later, the owner found out who we were, came to our home, and confronted my daughter. Instead of being grateful, our neighbor was angry that we didn’t have the dog and proceeded to call the cops on us. They didn't need to be involved, and it wasted their time. A police officer showed up, took our account, and advised us to try to contact the guy. Come to find out, this isn’t the first dog I’ve rescued of hers. How about be grateful that someone decided to stop and help rather than drive off? No Support Can you please tell me why it is so difficult to obtain papers for a support dog? My friend, age 62, who is on disability for arthritis of the spine and PTSD, was once a surgeon's assistant. She had two boys who became Green Berets and fought eight years in Iraq. They're in Texas and California now. She has two grandchildren she has never met. Her family (two 82-year-old parents) will not help her. She's on apartment waiting lists. None accept a small Yorkie Terrier. That's her family now, a small dog which most apartments will not accept unless the person has support dog papers. When she asked the doctor for help, the doctor made her undergo the doctor's idea of therapy - psychiatric medicine and a 20-year-old therapist. No papers were ever provided.

INFLAMED GUMS Inflammation of the gums, also known as gingivitis, is usually caused by an overgrowth of plaque and a bacterial infection. If left untreated, gingivitis can turn into periodontitis, a more serious gum infection that can lead to tooth loss. Plaque is a thin layer of bacteria that’s constantly forming on teeth. Gums become infected when food and plaque get trapped under the gumline in the “sulcus,” the small space between the gums and teeth. When plaque extends below the gumline into the sulcus, the gums become inflamed and gingivitis results. If left untreated, gingivitis can cause the gums to separate from the teeth, leading to progressive infection, soft tissue and bone injury, loose teeth, and tooth loss. It is estimated that more than half of all people over age 18 are in the early stages of gingivitis. After age 35, about three out of four adults are in some way affected. Avoid inflamed, infected gums and the need for serious treatment. Protect yourself and your family by practicing conscientious home care, having regular checkups, and eating a healthy diet. We’ll help too at BATAVIA FAMILY DENTAL, because we care almost as much as you do about the health of your teeth and gums. Call us at 585.343.4246 for an appointment at 6 Batavia City Centre. P.S. In addition to inadequate oral hygiene, other risk factors for gingivitis are smoking, diabetes, broken fillings, crooked teeth, chemotherapy treatments, and certain medications. smiles enhance self-confidence & self-esteem. Consuming Collagen Is Not Proven to Reduce Wrinkles
www.bataviafamilydental.com
Reserved
Part of the reason that skin wrinkles is loss of collagen, but it is not at all clear that consuming more collagen, or any protein, will increase the collagen in the skin and therefore reduce wrinkles. You can save a great deal of money by consuming collagen, if you decide you want to, from time-honored sources like chicken broth. Some collagen supplements are made from parts of animal carcasses that contain heavy metals and other toxins, so I would be wary of supplements. Medicated creams like vitamin A derivatives (such as retinol or tretinoin) work by increasing collagen production in the skin. Vitamin C creams help prevent the breakdown of the existing collagen in the skin. Vitamin C breaks down quickly, so these creams need to be handled sparingly. Moisturizing the skin makes it appear fuller and helps prevent further damage, especially when a daily sunscreen is included.

Beautiful
DEAR DR. ROACH: Several months ago, I started adding 25 grams of whey protein to an afternoon smoothie each day. I was worried about muscle loss after reading an article. I have seen the sagging muscles and skin in my arms and thighs. I am a 71-year-old woman, who plays tennis twice a week and goes to the gym about once a week. I have friends my age who have started adding collagen powders to their smoothies to improve their skin and prevent further facial wrinkles. After researching collagen supplements, I learned that they contain collagen peptides and protein. The dosage and ingredients vary by vendor. What is the correct collagen dosage and ingredients I should be looking for? Is the protein in collagen the same as the protein in whey? -- R.K. ANSWER: All proteins, such as whey and collagen, are long strands of amino acids. A “peptide” is two or more amino acids connected, while a “polypeptide” is 20 or more amino acids. A protein is a polypeptide that has a function in the organism. Proteins are broken down by acid and enzymes in your stomach, back into their component amino acids, to be used anyplace the body has need for them.

Lockboxes require that a code is entered before a box containing a key can be unlocked. Homeowners who want this added measure of protection don’t even need to put a key inside the lockbox, which typically covers a lock, making it extremely difficult for potential thieves to pick the lock. HEEL SPUR SYNDROME/PLANTAR FASCIITIS is a common problem among people who are active. It starts as a dull intermittent pain in the heel and progresses to a sharp persistent pain. Classically, it is worse in the morning with the rst few steps, after sitting, after standing or after walking.
• Plantar fasciitis often begins with irritation and tearing of the brous band of tissue on the bottom of the foot, which may eventually result in the formation of a heel spur.

This translates into foods that are healthier for the body and the environment. Gardens also can help the average person save money on often costly produce, all the while reducing gardeners’ carbon Waitingfootprints.toreapthe rewards of a harvest can try the patience of those accustomed to satisfying their needs on a moment’s notice. This is especially true for young gardeners who have grown up in a society that increasingly provides immediate gratification.
While tomatoes, peppers and watermelons require long growing seasons, many other fruits and vegetables grow much faster. This offers plenty of bounty in a short time for those who may have gotten a later start on their gardens or simply don’t have the patience to wait on the more time-consuming growers. Speak with a garden center expert to learn more about which vegetables, fruits and herbs grow quickly and will thrive in your home garden.

DID YOU KNOW? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, air currents can carry pesticides that were applied to nearby properties. That means even people who do not apply pesticides in their lawns and gardens can still be at risk of exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals. People concerned by the prospect of being exposed to the pesticides being applied by their neighbors can stay indoors with their children and pets while the substances are being applied. Those who live near fields and parks where pesticides are routinely applied can plant hardy, thick-branched trees to reduce their risk of airborne exposure. The EPA notes that such plants and shrubs can serve as buffers against airborne pesticides, essentially acting as walls around a property that prevent gusty winds from blowing pesticides into yards and gardens.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles Getting Ready for Medicare Open Enrollment Before we know it, that yearly event will be here -- when we have to decide what to do about our Medicare plans between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7 for coverage that will begin Jan. 1. ere are several things we have to consider, such as taking on a prescription drug plan or changing to a new one, or staying with original Medicare or going with an Advantage plan or changing Advantage plans or going back to original Medicare. All these take time to think about. oughts to consider: What will Social Security look like in 2023? We won’t know the Social Security increase until it is announced in October. ere have been guesses that we might receive as much as a 10.5% increase, which calculates to $175 for the average bene ciary. e Part B premium will be deducted from We’rethat.likely looking at an 8.5% increase in Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans costs. Check the costs of your prescriptions over the past three years, because for some of us, that’s where the big-ticket expenses are. Chances are the drug costs have gone up, possibly even signi cantly. And chances are they’re not coming down. What to do, what to do ... Two options are worth looking at: GoodRx (www.goodrx.com) and Marc Cuban CostPlus Drug Company (costplusdrugs.com). Both o er discounted prices on prescription drugs. Investigate and see what you think. A Kaiser study concluded that seven out of 10 people did not research the plans during open enrollment. Because of the rising costs of everything in our lives, this needs to be the year that we compare, compare, compare. When in doubt, look into SHIP, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, which is in every state, sta ed by volunteers who can help you wade through the Medicare information. We are being overrun by boxelder bugs! There are no box elder trees nearby that I can find. However, the tree that has those “helicopters” hangs over my garage (not my tree). I can kill the ones I find with soapy water, but they just keep coming. Soapy water will intercept many bugs. Depending on where they are located and annoying you may make a difference in how you go about trying to stop them. Boxelder bugs may be found on a structure foundation at this time of year but are not looking for winter quarters so not likely to appear inside.

What’s the best solution to this problem? Powdery mildew on these plants is very common, especially toward the end of the season. It can be reduced or avoided by providing good air circulation – open space, staking and weed control among the plants, watering with a soaker hose instead of overhead, and avoiding excess application of fertilizer or late season fertilizing. It is easier to prevent than to treat. There are resistant varieties available. Fungicides including organic remedies are available. Lower and upper leaf surfaces should be treated. They can seem to just keep coming. There may be two generations a year. In the fall, the population is determinate, so they won’t keep coming forever. You might be able to beat them this way if you are persistent. Keep washing them off the side of the house. Being on guard in the fall may be a difficult task as their march – or flight - continues after you have intercepted a batch. The bug prefers seed bearing boxelder trees. It feeds on the seed case (helicopter) similar to all maples. Some sources indicate removal of the seed bearing boxelder trees will alleviate the problem. Boxelder bugs do not do serious damage to trees and other plants and are not a risk for stinging. Volunteering: Local environmental groups often sponsor cleanups at parks and waterfront attractions like beaches and lakes. Volunteering with such organizations is a great way to get outside and give back, and working with like-minded individuals can be a great way for seniors to meet new people. In addition, a national study sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service in 2019 found that 88 percent of Senior Corps volunteers who initially reported a lack of companionship reported a decrease in feelings of isolation after volunteering.
Additionally, each of the new pant styles is equipped with knee pad openings designed to fit the company’s most recent innovation in knee protection. The Carhartt knee pad features a strapless, honeycomb design that maximizes durability and comfort, providing an easy-to-wear solution for impact protection.
Carhartt’s Steel Multi-Pocket pant, Steel Double-Front pant, and Steel Cargo pant feature the brand’s Full Swing® technology and a fabric blend of cotton, nylon and spandex. First introduced in 2015, Full Swing® uses stretch panels to provide ease of movement in the joints, improving hardworking consumers’ range of motion where they need it most—both on and off the job.
The launch of these new work pants coincides with a celebration of Carhartt’s oldest work pants. The classic Firm Duck Double-Front Work Dungaree was first introduced to the company’s product line in 1939, and it is now the focal point of the brand’s latest campaign celebrating its sewing, cutting and distribution associates. The video highlights the product details while unveiling the craftsmanship behind every pair of the B01 Firm Duck Double-Front Work Dungarees.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A TEAM PLAYER
The ability to communicate, interact and work collectively with others is both a professional and personal asset. But in certain ways, the reliance on technology has made working as a team more complicated. People have grown accustomed to spending large quantities of time alone working at computers or on phones and tablets, potentially compromising their ability to work directly with others when the need arises.
2. Assess your productivity. Some people are most productive in the mornings, while others do not hit their strides until after lunch. Identify the time or times of day when you tend to be most productive, and make an effort to focus exclusively on work during these times. Resist any urge to schedule meetings or conference calls during those times of day when you are most productive, as it can be hard to multitask or focus when discussing projects with coworkers or clients.
1. Embrace organization tools. Whether it’s day planners, smartphone reminders or more traditional print calendars with meetings and deadlines written on them, organization tools can greatly cut back on time spent trying to remember and/or confirm meeting times, project schedules, deadlines, and other obligations.
4. Reconsider your commute. Professionals who drive to work but find themselves sitting in traffic on their way to and from work can investigate possible alternatives to driving themselves. Public transportation might not get you to work more quickly than driving yourself, but time spent on a bus or train can be used to spentanTimeclearinganswerworkonprojectsandcheckandwork-relatedemails,uptimelaterintheday.spentbehindthewheelofautomobilecannotbesafelyworking.

4 EASY WAYS TO CREATE MORE TIME IN YOUR DAY Managing one’s time can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. As a result, adults with hectic schedules and multiple responsibilities may pine for an extra hour or two in the day. While it’s impossible to extend a day from 24 to 26 hours, there are ways for busy men and women to create more time in their day.
3. Minimize distractions.
