AN EASY WAY TO CELEBRATE VETERANS DAY Visit hospitalized veterans. Unfortunately, many veterans are hospitalized after suffering an injury during a tour of duty. These veterans sacrificed their physical w ell-being to protect our w ay of life, and many spend extended periods of time in the hospital. Visiting a hospital to get to know a veteran and spend some time w ith him or her, sharing a few laughs and thanking them for their servic e, is a great w ay to celebrate the holiday and lift a veteran’s spirits at the same time. Rec ruit friends and family members to visit hospitalized veterans as w ell.

NOW HERE’S A TIP By JoAnn Derson * Have your carpets cleaned. Hightraffic areas may require cleaning as often as every three or four months, but bedrooms can go as long as 18 months. Use runners and area rugs to safeguard spots that may be vulnerable, like under a vanity or by your sofas.
We are the #1 Family-Owned & Operated Real Estate Company in New York State! With end-toend services that account for all stages of your journey, your way home begins with HUNT.
* “I had some residue on my bathroom ceiling from hard water condensation. I happened to have a set of crutches lying around. I used a hair elastic to secure a hand towel to the arm rest of one crutch. Then I sprayed it with water and used it to scrub the ceiling. It worked really well. I was done in no time.” -- A.A. in Florida
Visit us at HUNTrealestate.com
* Two ways to remove a bandage: Rub a little baby oil or vegetable oil over it. The oil will soak in and make it easier to remove. Or -- and this works especially well with kids -- have them soak in the bath and use baby shampoo to soften the sticky edges.

* A baking soda and water mix is great for tile floors if you want a quick mop up. If a lot of your floors are tile, do yourself a favor and invest in a steam mop. They clean and sanitize, leaving your floors brilliant. * Be sure you use a trivet or other protectant when placing flowerpots on wood floors. Also, purchase felt pads for the bottoms of furniture. This will eliminate divots or other kinds of depressions or scratches in the floor. * “Tiny tears in your window screen can be secured with clear nail polish. I dab the spot, then use tweezers to line up the tiny wires, then dab again. Just make sure the window is open, or the screen might stick to the windowpane.” -- T.T. in Indiana GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

LOCAL DINING SPOTS FOSTER COMMUNITY Dining out is a great way to celebrate life’s milestones or simply reconnect with friends and loved ones. Research firm NPD Group found that, by the end of 2015, restaurant visits by consumers increased by 700 million compared to just five years prior. While chain restaurants invest heavily in advertising, independently owned restaurants do not have those same resources. Multi-unit chains also have more pull with suppliers and might be able to negotiate better deals, or can spread operational costs across various locations. Too often diners are not aware of the vast array of tasty, well-priced and artisanal foods awaiting them just down the street. Much can be said about the advantages of patronizing local eateries. Men and women who want unique dining experiences can give local, independently owned establishments a try.

Rocks, really? To the person ranting about the painted rocks: There is so much bashing and hate in this world, and you pick this to rant about? If you don’t like them, pass by and let someone else find them. I love them!
S E V RA Not so finicky A recent rave thanked the Penny Saver carriers for avoiding the delivery tube where a wren was building a nest. The writer was a kind birdwatcher but is misinformed about wrens. Male wrens identify several possible nesting locations and start building a nest in each. Then, when they meet a mate, they bring the female to each nest. She selects the one she likes the best. The nest in the tube wasn’t a sad tale of a female abandoning her work. It was a suitor trying to impress, and she liked one of his other homes better. Watching grass grow Watching grass grow is much more exciting than it sounds when it is your lawn! Thank you so much to the generous volunteers at Habitat for Humanity of Livingston County and to the young SUNY Geneseo college student who came out to prepare, seed, and straw my yard a few weeks ago. The new green grass is looking good! - Grateful Habitat Homeowner Thanks for the stories! I’d like to thank Amanda Dudek for all of her great articles she writes in the Penny Saver. Keep up the great work, Amanda! Patriot Day Thanks Thank you to those responsible for the beautiful 9/11 Ceremony at the Circle in Avon. It was wonderful to see our Veterans, EMTs, Firemen & LEOs, the Patriot Guard, St. Agnes School students and community members all pause and remember. Beautiful rendition of our national anthem too. Thank you. Honesty wins! Last Saturday, we went to the Land of the Legends Raceway in Canandaigua. When we were about to leave, we realized my boyfriend’s driver’s license was missing, so we started looking for it. He went to the booth to see if someone had turned in a driver’s license, and it was there! What a relief! We would like to say thank you so much to the stranger who found the driver’s license and returned it to the booth. We appreciate your honesty!
Going to the dogs I am afraid that my apartment complex is going to the dogs. Maybe they should just turn the place into a daycare center since there are always kids around. Whatever happened to the different activities that used to go on? If the office doesn’t want to be bothered doing anything, then maybe let someone else handle activities. Thank God we have a great maintenance crew! They are always on top of everything when they know about it.
How low can you get? During the last few weeks, our gas has been stolen out of our cars and trucks. You are going around our town and doing this. We aren’t the first. A local roadside stand has fruits and veggies that are being taken, too. Your pictures is being taken, so make sure you smile when you do these things. You need to get a job and a life. Stop doing these bad things. In case you don’t know, the people you are stealing from are retired and handicapped. You may think this is a joke, but it’s not. You will pay the consequences. My advice to you is to get a job and be a human, not a thief. May God have pity on you if you get caught. - Resident of this Little Town

AUTO SECTION
M ake sure you can hear auditory driving cues. Listening to the radio loudly can drow n out car horns, emergency sirens and bicycle bells.
SAFETY IN NUMBERS: WHY IT PAYS TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULBS IN PAIRS When it comes to vehicle maintenance, the rule of two has long reigned among professional automotive technicians and driving safety advocates. In accordance to this rule, drivers replacing important parts in their cars and trucks, such as tires, brakes, shocks and wiper blades, should always do so in pairs. Replacing parts in pairs can ensure vehicles are properly balanced and functioning safely. But it’s not just tires, brakes and other big-ticket components that should be replaced in pairs. Vehicle lighting plays an integral role in keeping drivers and their passengers safe, and motorists should exercise the same caution regarding their vehicles’ headlights, taillights and turn signals that they do when maintaining the rest of their cars and trucks.

ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH FLUORIDE TO PROTECT YOUR TEETH? The American Dental Association highly recommends professional fluoride treatment at a dental office every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on overall oral health. Those at high risk for cavities may also be prescribed a special fluoride rinse or gel to use regularly at home. Factors that increase risk of cavities include excessive drug or alcohol use, poor diet and eating disorders, poor oral hygiene, lack of professional dental care, dry mouth and/or decreased saliva, and weakened enamel. Fluoride is found in common dietary sources such as tea, water, infant formula, bone-in fish, and foods cooked in water. Adults, at greater risk of decay than children, should consider fluoride treatments during
routine dental visits to prevent painful, expensive dental problems. At BATAVIA FAMILY DENTAL, we’ll help you equip yourself with the tools necessary for maximum oral health. From fluoride treatments to conscientious home care to regular professional dental visits, our dedication to providing the finest care possible and our experience with the wonders of modern dentistry, we’ll help lead you down the path to the sunniest smile imaginable. Our full-service dental office is located at 6 Batavia City Centre. Call 585.343.4246 to make an appointment.
P. S. First available in 1991 when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved fluoride as a cavity varnish, there are now dozens of fluoride products available to dental professionals.

High Blood Pressure Can Thicken Heart Wall ---
DEAR DR. ROACH: What is the difference between eccentric LVH and concentric LVH? Which one is more dangerous and needs more attention? My mother was diagnosed with severe eccentric LVH for body surface area with adequate systolic and diastolic functions. What does that mean? -- C.F. ANSWER: The left ventricle is the chamber of the heart that pumps blood to the entire body, except for through the lungs; that is the job of the right ventricle. When the job is too hard, usually because of high blood pressure, the left ventricle hypertrophies, meaning its walls get thicker as a response to the increased workload. That hypertrophy can be symmetrical (concentric) or asymmetrical (eccentric). Early on, the left ventricle can still do its two jobs despite the hypertrophy: It can push out all the blood the body needs (that’s the systolic function), and relax under low pressure (that’s the diastolic function). Your mother has adequate systolic and diastolic function, so she is not in heart failure at this time. If LVH is not treated, it tends to get worse. Usually the diastolic function fails first, and the left ventricle, being thick and stiff, requires higher pressure to relax properly and allow the blood to flow in from the left atrium. The major symptom of diastolic heart failure (now called “heart failure with preserved ejection fraction,” or HF-pEF) is shortness of breath, especially with exertion. Some people may progress to having both systolic and diastolic failure (“heart failure with reduced ejection fraction,” HF-rEF), where fatigue becomes a major symptom. Swelling of the legs and increasing nighttime urination are additional symptoms. It’s not good to have either eccentric or concentric LVH, but cardiac physiologists note that concentric LVH gives the heart less ability to adapt to increased stress and has a worse prognosis. Both situations need to be treated as rapidly as possible to allow the heart to return to a more normal state. Blood pressure reduction -- whether through diet, weight loss, salt restriction, stress management, pharmacologic therapy or a combination -- is the primary treatment. Some blood pressure medications are more effective than others in helping the heart return to a more normal state, and high blood pressure experts often choose agents that are more effective in those people with LVH, especially concentric LCH, on echocardiogram. ACE inhibitors and beta blockers are typically a part of first-line treatment. ***

FREE GLOSSARY AND COMPENSATION GUIDE (NAPSI)—If you or someone you care for is ever diagnosed with mesothelioma or lung cancer after exposure to asbestos at work decades ago, here’s news for you. If you’re undergoing medical treatment, you can use a free “Asbestos Disease Glossary” available from the Asbestos Lifeline Institute of Great Neck, New York. The handy, pocket-size booklet explains all the common medical terms used in asbestos injury care and identifies all the different medical specialists involved in treating mesothelioma, lung cancer and several other nonmalignant, asbestosrelated diseases. The free booklet also contains helpful information about achieving monetary compensation for asbestos injuries, which hinges upon a timely filing of the claim and the ability to identify the specific asbestos products you used. In most instances, a “latency period” of several decades after exposure occurs before asbestos diseases develop, so most victims are in their 60s or older. For victims with valid claims, choosing the right law firm for representation can be daunting, due to the many choices presented through TV commercials and Internet searches. The Asbestos Lifeline Institute can also be helpful in guiding you to the right firm. To learn more, call the Asbestos Lifeline at (800) 990-1650, e-mail AsbestosLifeline@gmail.com or visit www.AsbestosDiseaseGlossary.com. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

The visits, calls/texts, flowers, food, and donations to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department in Mel’s memory were much appreciated. Special thanks to Strong Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Justin Calarco-Smith from Bohm Calarco Smith Funeral Home, Pastor Bobby Dean from High Point Community Church, Jim Pietrzykowski from Legacy Design & Events for the beautiful flower arrangements, The Bethany Volunteer Fire Department for services and providing and hosting the lunch, the many local fire departments from the surrounding counties who took time to show their respect, The Batavia Bull Dawgs Youth Football Organization, the faculty and staff of the LeRoy Central School District and to the many others who we are probably forgetting-thank you for helping us through this difficult time. With respect and gratitude, Jed, Jessica, Cole and Andrew Davis
UNDERSTANDING LIFE INSURANCE Deciding if you need coverage. While life insurance seems like the kind of thing every person should have, that’s not necessarily the case. For example, single men and women with no dependents and no tax or debt concerns generally do not need life insurance. If you are single but have tax issues or a considerable amount of debt, then a life insurance policy can be used to pay those debts upon your death. Adults with dependents, such as a spouse and/or children, should consider purchasing life insurance, which can help your surviving dependents maintain their quality of life and pay their bills in the wake of your death.

END OF SUMMER BASH Scores a Win for Cystic Fibrosis BY AMANDA DUDEK
T
he rain cleared and a beautiful sunset was on the horizon for the End of Summer Bash event this past Wednesday. Genesee Valley Publication’s Laurie Abbott and its Home Publications team worked with Farmers Creekside Tavern & Inn in LeRoy to raise support for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) while offering an enjoyable evening out for area neighbors. The Bash included delicious hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, a vendor passport challenge, and a silent auction, as well as tastings from several area wine and spirits vendors. The event aligned well with Abbott’s efforts as one of Rochester’s Finest. “I have learned and continue to learn so much with Rochester’s Finest,” she said. Abbott recalled feeling honored to be considered one of the area’s “most accomplished and innovative young leaders.” She was happy to commit to raising funds in support of the CF Foundation’s worthy mission. Enthusiastically, Abbott began researching fundraising techniques. “One of the tips we received was, ‘Ask for help,’ so that’s what I did!” she explained. “My co-workers were hoping to hold an event around the same time to celebrate our Home magazine.” Maria Valencia from Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn in LeRoy, also one of the Home Magazine advertisers, was thrilled to make the party happen! “Maria was completely on board with hosting our event,” said Abbott. “She reached out to several vendors, asking if they would like to come out for our Bash in support of CFF. Creekside even crafted two specialty cocktails to benefit CFF. Many of the vendors and businesses I reached out to were happy to donate, as well.” During the Vendor Passport Challenge, one of the most exciting activities of the evening, event guests received a passport card with vendor logos. Vendors, set up on the third floor and the street level patio, included Living Roots Wine + Co., Thin Man Brewery, Lockhouse Distillery, Pleasant Valley Wine Company, Nine Pin Hard Cider, Mousier Touton Selection LTD, Bean Suntory Inc, Stoneyard Brewing Co., Rohrbach Brewing Company, and Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard. These vendors checked their logo as each guest visited, and completed cards were entered in a prize drawing.
am so grateful to my mentor, Manuel Karam, who nominated me for Rochester’s Finest, as well as to Patty Schwarzweller, the Director of CFF of Western New York. Patty attended our event with her husband, and she thought it was amazing! I would also like to thank Kara Ivison for her help and support, Sarah Christ for all her hard work and helping to make the event possible, as well as Stefan Muoio and Michael Tornatore of Equitable for their support throughout the event.” Abbott also made sure to thank those whose generosity made the Bash so successful. “I’d like to give a very special thanks to Maria Valencia, Sarah Farmer and the entire Creekside staff who not only donated funds and a gift card, but who also were very involved and supportive throughout the evening. Also, I’d like to give a huge thanks to all our vendors for coming out and for each generously donating baskets to our silent auction. A very heartfelt thank you, as well, to Rustic Buffalo who donated two baskets and two gift cards, to RSMC who donated a Family Fun Pack, and to Rachel Burbules of Bath Fitter who donated a gift card, as well. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to share this very special time with us. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart!” Since 1955, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) has been working hard to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives. CFF funds research and drug development, advocates treatment tailored to the individual, and works to guarantee access to specialized care based on everdeveloping best practices. Rochester’s Finest works with CFF in their mission to find a cure for all people living with CF. Thanks to the cystic fibrosis drug therapies now available, and thanks to the Foundation and its supporters, many people with CF are living into their 40’s and beyond!
The Bash was a complete success. Not only did guests, including this writer, have a wonderful time, but Abbott also raised significant funds for CFF. “It was a wonderful night!” said Abbott. “There was so much love and support. Many people have CF in their family or know someone with CF. It meant so much to meet them, hear their stories, and know we are making a difference.”

MOBILE PET GROOMING SERVICE
PAW’S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta
PUPPY PALACE
Why Risk Buying a Pet Overseas?
Full Grooming Services
585-682-3219
--DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I’m writing in response to your recent article about pet imports from overseas being banned. Potential pet owners may be frustrated by this rule, but what is their reason for going outside the country? Most likely, they want to purchase a purebred dog at a lower price. Buying a dog overseas is very risky. The countries mentioned in the temporary ban are listed for a reason. Often the breeding is poor, and standards are low. A country’s culture can play a role. They learn what is wanted, they produce, and you buy. The old saying, “You get what you pay for,” applies here. Many owners end up spending more in vet bills than they saved on an overseas dog. The risk is yours. There are many good breeders in the U.S., but they’re not always easy to find. The U.S. is not perfect and has poor breeders too. But certain standards must be met, and it will show in a so-so breeder. Three things to look for are: 1. Sanitary conditions. If the place you visit smells at all, go no further. 2. Do puppies live in the house and not in a kennel? The best of breeders will not replace human contact from birth. 3. Selling too soon. Baby animals need their mothers. A good pup has stayed with its mother ideally for 11 or 12 weeks. Anyone willing to sell under 8 weeks should raise your eyebrow. The American Kennel Club has good representatives taking calls. They are often breeders themselves and can guide you to your choice of breed. Why not get the best and safest dog? It’s important to trust your breeder. Be safe -- buy American! -- Colleen R., via email DEAR COLLEEN: You told them, and I thank you. Send your tips, questions or comments to ask@pawscorner.com. (c) 2021 King Features Synd., Inc.

Meet the world’s tiniest snail! His name is and he is half a centimeter long! His favorite foods are juicy cucumbers and lettuce. He is very slow, so I made him a cardboard race car that I push him around in. Recently Swirly had two babies! It turns out snails are hermaphrodites. Swirly’s babies are named Curly and Whirly. Swirly is an amazing pet. Send us a photo and brief write-up of your pet and we’ll feature it. Email to: sales@gvpennysaver.com or mail to: P.O. Box 340; Avon, 14414. Pets will be published at discretion of GVPS.
PET OBESITY IS A GROWING PROBLEM Many pet owners would never intentionally harm their companion animals. In fact, pet owners often go above and beyond to ensure their animals are well cared for and content. However, many well-meaning people may be inadvertently harming their pets with something they provide each and every day: food. Obesity is on the rise among pets. The Association for Pet Obesity Prevention says that 54 percent of dogs and 59 percent of cats in the United States were categorized as overweight or obese in 2016. That marks an increase from 52.5 percent and 58.3 percent, respectively, from four years ago. The majority of veterinarians think that pet obesity is a significant problem and nearly half of pet owners admit that their vets have discussed a pet’s ideal weight with them during pet health visits.

Dogs mature at faster rates than human beings. While many have heard the rule that every human year equals seven dog years, the reality isn’t so cut and dry. Size and breed play roles in determining a dog’s age equivalent. According to the pets division of WebMD, the first year of life for a dog may be roughly equivalent to 15 years for a human. Dog food manufacturer Purina says that by its tenth year alive, a small, medium and large dog is 56, 60 and 66 in human years, respectively.

LIST TODAY, GONE TOMORROW!
REALIZE ENERGY SAVINGS WITH 1 SIMPLE STEP
HANDYMEN/WOMEN
A simple project that will help keep your home comfortable is topping up your attic insulation. This easy project will reduce your household energy consumption and will save you money on monthly energy bills. A poorly insulated attic is a primary source of energy loss, forcing your AC unit or furnace to work harder than necessary. Most attics are insulated, but many, especially those in older homes, are not insulated adequately enough. Over time, insulation can settle and compact, allowing heat to escape through gaps. Topping it up is easy. Ideally, you want to aim for a depth of 16 inches of insulation for an overall R-value of 50. When existing insulation is present, simply level existing insulation to the top of the joist. Lay Roxul ComfortBatt on top of joists, running perpendicular to the first or existing layer of insulation. Ensure batts are butted against each other tightly. Fit batts closely to cross joists: cut batt if necessary (this can be done easily with a serrated blade or bread knife) and leave no space between layers. Don’t forget to insulate the attic hatch to the same level as the rest of the attic. Apply weather stripping to the edge of the hatch to reduce air leakage. Keep in mind that only IC-rated electrical fixtures can have insulation placed with zero clearance. Follow manufacturer’s instructions and local building code to insulate around the chimney. Insulation begins working the moment it is installed and lasts throughout the life of the building, which means one easy DIY project can provide years of savings.

Many people may be tempted to discard rusty tools that have gone unused and sat in a garage or shed for a significant period of time. But tools encrusted with rust do not need to be relegated to the trash bin, nor do gardeners have to toil for hours scraping and sanding off the rust. There’s a much easier way to restore rusty tools that relies on a common household ingredient: vinegar. Pour vinegar into a deep enough vessel to submerge the metal part of the tool. Soak the tool overnight. The next day, use a scouring pad to rub off the rust. If the tool is too big to fit into a can or bucket, simply wrap it with a vinegarsoaked rag and cover the whole tool with a tightly secured plastic bag. Follow the same procedure the next day. After all the rust is gone, rinse the tool in cool water and dry thoroughly. Then return it to regular usage.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles Budget to Stay Busy, Not Bored This Winter This winter is not going to be a repeat of last year, at least not at my house. COVID will no doubt keep raging around the world, limiting our options for activities, canceling plans that were made with fingers crossed. But here at home I’m going to be busy, not bored. I’ve decided to spend a little mental health money that in a normal world I would have used for meals out, a few new outfits and maybe a couple of weekends away at a very nice hotel in the next state. To make up for the disappointments, I’ve renewed my Amazon Prime, not only for the free shipping but for the movies and videos I can watch for free. There are hundreds of documentaries, including ones on travel, giving me great views of places I can’t currently go. There are thousands of movies and television series I can watch with my Roku device. And then there are the books, sent instantly to my Kindle, with font sizes I can change in a moment. If I’m in the mood for British television and movies, Adobe.tv has a big selection (even Australian!), only costing a few dollars per month. BritBox is nearly as good as Adobe, at almost the same price. I’m looking at an inexpensive exercise bike, possibly a recumbent one. These allow all the movements of riding a bicycle, but there is a seat back to lean against and two handles to hold. (If there is no space for a bike, there are pedal machines that can be used while seated in a chair.) And then there are the arts and crafts to fill the long days. I searched online for crafts for adults and found thousands of kits, including several types I’d never tried before. Some of them, if they turn out well, might end up being holiday gifts I won’t have to shop for! (c) 2021 King Features Synd., Inc.
This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

HOW TO MAINTAIN MENTAL ACUITY Stay socially connected. Maintaining social connections with family, friends and community members also can help women prevent cognitive decline. Epidemiologist Bryan James of the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center studied how social activity affected cognitive decline, ultimately noting that the rate of cognitive decline was considerably lower among men and women who maintained social contact than it was among those with low levels of social activity.

4 EASY WAYS TO CREATE MORE TIME IN YOUR DAY Managing one’s time can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. As a result, adults with hectic schedules and multiple responsibilities may pine for an extra hour or two in the day. While it’s impossible to extend a day from 24 to 26 hours, there are ways for busy men and women to create more time in their day. 1. Embrace organization tools. Whether it’s day planners, smartphone reminders or more traditional print calendars with meetings and deadlines written on them, organization tools can greatly cut back on time spent trying to remember and/or confirm meeting times, project schedules, deadlines, and other obligations. 2. Assess your productivity. Some people are most productive in the mornings, while others do not hit their strides until after lunch. Identify the time or times of day when you tend to be most productive, and make an effort to focus exclusively on work during these times. Resist any urge to schedule meetings or conference calls during those times of day when you are most productive, as it can be hard to multitask or focus when discussing projects with coworkers or clients. 3. Minimize distractions. Social media, the internet and texting can distract attention away from tasks that must be completed, ultimately affecting how quickly and efficiently such projects are finished. Make a concerted effort to avoid social media and the internet while at work, and turn off smartphone alerts that entice you to go online. In addition, turn off text alerts if they are proving too great a distraction. 4. Reconsider your commute. Professionals who drive to work but find themselves sitting in traffic on their way to and from work can investigate possible alternatives to driving themselves. Public transportation might not get you to work more quickly than driving yourself, but time spent on a bus or train can be used to work on projects and check and answer work-related emails, clearing up time later in the day. Time spent behind the wheel of an automobile cannot be safely spent working.

WORK PANTS: THE NEXT GENERATION (NAPSI)—Just as technology has had a major effect on the kind of work people do, it has also changed the clothes in which they do that work. For example, with hard work in mind, a new collection of pants has been created by Carhartt with a unique blend of durability and functionality. “Our company has been around for nearly 130 years, and throughout our history, we’ve continued to improve our product offerings to fit the needs of our hardworking consumers,” says Deb Ferraro, vice president of product development at Carhartt. “This new collection of pants reinforces our commitment to setting a new standard for workwear.” Carhartt’s Steel Multi-Pocket pant, Steel Double-Front pant, and Steel Cargo pant feature the brand’s Full Swing® technology and a fabric blend of cotton, nylon and spandex. First introduced in 2015, Full Swing® uses stretch panels to provide ease of movement in the joints, improving hardworking consumers’ range of motion where they need it most—both on and off the job. Additionally, each of the new pant styles is equipped with knee pad openings designed to fit the company’s most recent innovation in knee protection. The Carhartt knee pad features a strapless, honeycomb design that maximizes durability and comfort, providing an easy-to-wear solution for impact protection. The launch of these new work pants coincides with a celebration of Carhartt’s oldest work pants. The classic Firm Duck Double-Front Work Dungaree was first introduced to the company’s product line in 1939, and it is now the focal point of the brand’s latest campaign celebrating its sewing, cutting and distribution associates. The video highlights the product details while unveiling the craftsmanship behind every pair of the B01 Firm Duck Double-Front Work Dungarees. To learn more about Carhartt’s latest pants and knee pads, visit www.Carhartt.com. To watch the brand’s latest video, “61 Workers, One Mission,” visit the Carhartt channel on YouTube. EMPLOYMENT

THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A NEW JOB Salary: Of course everyone would love to earn more money when changing jobs, but there is more to changing jobs than just improving your bottom line. As you begin your job search, consider how much you currently earn and if that allows you to live a life you love. If so, don’t overemphasize finding a new job that pays considerably more than your currently earn. On the flip side, young professionals who want to start a family in the years ahead should consider the costs associated with such a decision and how the salaries they earn at their next jobs may affect what they want down the road.
