Magnificent Autumn! He comes not like a pilgrim, clad in russet weeds. He comes not like a hermit, clad in gray. But he comes like a warrior, with the stain of blood upon his brazen mail. His crimson scarf is rent.... The wind.... wafts to us the odor of forest leaves, that hang wilted on the dripping branches, or drop into the stream. Their gorgeous tints are gone, as if the autumnal rains had washed them out. Orange, yellow, and scarlet, all are changed to one melancholy russet hue.... There is a melancholy and continual roar in the tops of the tall pines.... It is the funeral anthem of the dying year. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Helping a “Found” Cat Get Home
585-335-9380
DEAR PAW’S CORNER: My friend found an orange cat matching the description on a paper flyer posted on a nearby telephone pole. However, the email address listed on the flyer keeps coming back as “invalid,” so she has no way to contact the owner. What else can she do to return the cat to its rightful owner? -- Jimmy V., via email
Next, get the word out. Paws.org has a downloadable PDF flyer (www.paws.org/resources/reunitea-found-pet/) that you can use to post your own found sign and add a contact email or number for the owner to call. Post a found notice on Facebook groups like Lost and Pound (www.facebook.com/lostandpound), which focus on lost pets.

The first thing to do is to contact nearby shelters and veterinarian’s offices and tell them that you’ve found a lost cat but cannot contact the owner. They may have you bring in the cat to scan for a microchip -- the best way to identify pets and reunite them with their owners when a collar and tag are lost. Or they may ask for a description and have you email a photo of the cat so they can put up a “found” flyer in their lobby. Chances are, if the owner has already put up flyers, they have probably been checking with shelters regularly to see if their cat has been reported found or has turned up there.
Send your tips, comments or questions to ask@pawscorner.com.
National Award Winning Paper
Cats are coveted for a variety of reasons, including their regal countenance and graceful movements. Many people are surprised to learn that cats boast several characteristics that make them wonderful pets.
DEAR JIMMY: Kudos to you and your friend for caring for the lost cat and trying to get it back to the owner!
Chances are, you’ll locate the owner locally, but getting the word out as far and as wide as possible will help reunite that cat with its owner.

Hi, I am Claude Hopper. At the end of July I went to my current home as a foster through Headed For Furever. When my human Papa met me, that was it. I was not going anywhere. I now live with 3 cat sisters and my humans. My favorite thing to do is to go for stroller rides and walking outside. Send us a photo and brief write-up of your pet and we’ll feature it. Email to: sales@gvpennysaver.com or mail to: P.O. Box 340, Avon, NY 14414. Pets will be published at discretion of GVPS.
IT PAYS TO USE CRATES WHEN TRAINING PUPPIES Many dog owners, particularly those who have never before had a dog, may hesitate to employ crates to train their puppies. That’s understandable, as on the surface it can seem cruel or inhumane to confine a living animal to a cage. However, the AKC notes that dogs are den animals that naturally seek out canine caves for security. That’s true whether dog owners provide crates for their puppies or not. So while humans may see crates as cruel, dogs very likely view their crates as secure places where they can go if they get scared or feel skittish. In fact, according to the AKC, dogs’ perception of crates is one reason why dog owners typically find it relatively easy to get their dogs to adjust to crates and ultimately enjoy them.

Honoring our Community’s Military Veterans Display at East Bloomfield Historical Society BY K A I T L I N D O N N A N
W
alking along the display case and exhibits of the East Bloomfield Historical Society places its visitors back in time, with a focus on local individuals and their hand in history. Dating back to World War II, the displays feature uniforms, photos, and more, allowing visitors to work their way through the years and various conflicts local servicemen and women were involved in, just in time for Veterans Day. “We have uniforms, flags, photos, a WAV uniform, and more,” said Judi Stewart, a historian at the East Bloomfield Historical Society. “We also have two sealed trunks and are opening them some 60 years later to a treasure trove of artifacts.” Cheryl Walters, an East Bloomfield History Society Trustee, is spearheading the exhibit, and through a series of interviews and compiling biographies of military experience, stories will put visitors in Pearl Harbor on boats, sitting in Hyde Park with Winston Churchill, and even delve into moments in Vietnam. “When you can put their biographies with the uniforms of individual people, suddenly visitors can really see what their family members did, and that is such a rich, wonderful experience,” Stewart said. “Cheryl has been in contact with families who have members who fought in or went to war. People really want their family members represented here.”
Another artifact recently acquired by the East Bloomfield History Society is an unpublished book entitled A Promise Kept, written by Sgt. Wayne Raulerson and his niece, Dr. Melissa Call, by Sgt. Henry “Hank” Trickey. Written about the Battle of Hamburger Hill in Vietnam from May 10th-20th, 1969, A Promise Kept documents a platoon’s experience in combat and a promise that whoever survived would visit their fallen brothers’ graves. Sgt. Raulerson did just that, seeking out his camrades’ families and leaving a quarter on each of his fallen brothers’ headstones. “A coin left on a headstone lets the deceased soldier’s family know someone stopped by to pay their respects,” said Stewart. “If you leave a penny, it means you visited. A nickel means you trained at boot camp together and a dime means you served together. A quarter is significant because it means you were there when that solider was killed.” A Promise Kept tells the story of soldiers killed in action or MIA, sharing their last words and giving them closure. Sgt. Raulerson wrote his story at the behest of his niece and, through Sgt. Trickey, donated a copy of his book to the East Bloomfield Historical Society in honor of Army Specialist Four Joseph Williams of West Bloomfield, NY, who was killed in action at Hamburger Hill on May 18, 1969.

Sgt. Trickey, a Bloomfield native and good friend of Sgt. Raulerson, is a former member of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles”, and Second Battalion-502nd Infantry and was stationed in the A Shau Valley during the Vietnam War. “I remember when the Vietnam War was taking place,” said Stewart. “The conflicts we’ve had tend to feel far away and abstract, but physically being able to see what took place in the past connects it more with reality. The exhibit tells a story, and that is important.” Today, many veterans still do not wish to discuss their experiences in combat and what they’ve endured. “We still have people coming back without the support they need. We do not always pay tribute to these people and thank them like we should.” “We have so many Veterans who have never talked about their experiences with their family members,” Walters said. “We need to reach out to them, and the younger generation needs to know what happened. More people thank Veterans now than they did when they came back from Vietnam.” Walters also states people need to learn more about all service members involved. “We do not know a lot about the women in service; they (and medics) were right out there in the combat area with the soldiers. They saved numerous lives. What they did was not for nothing.” “Honoring our Community’s Military” will run between now and Veterans Day, showcasing over 40 uniforms from WWII to present, over 70 biographies of community soldiers, military artifacts including service medals, helmets, field and personal gear, letters to home, photographs, and other memorabilia. The East Bloomfield Historical Society will be hosting a luncheon on November 10th for all local Veterans free of charge. Sgt. Henry “Hank” Trickey will also host a speech at the Bloomfield Central School auditorium on November 10th at 7:00pm with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. For question or more info. on the East Bloomfield Historical Society, call (585) 657-7244 or visit www.ebhs1838.org.

DID YOU KNOW?
Spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, is the most common cause of mortality in infants. According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, SMA is a motor neuron disease that affects the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and voluntary muscle movement. WebMD notes that the severity of SMA varies widely, but the disease is known to weaken muscles and can cause difficulty eating, breathing and walking. In the past, infants diagnosed with SMA typically did not survive more than two years, but the MDA notes that doctors now prefer to avoid making rigid predictions on life expectancy based strictly on age of onset.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles Social Security Benefit for 2023 It’s official: Our Social Security increase for 2023 will be 8.7%. They say it’s the largest increase in 40 years. For the average senior, that’s going to mean a $146 monthly increase. Plus we’re getting a small “rebate” on that massive Medicare Part B increase we faced last year when the cost went to $170.10 to pay for Aduhelm, an Alzheimer’s disease drug that was said to cost $56,000 per year. (After facing criticism, manufacturers had to cut the cost in half, down to $28,200.) We’ll now save $5.20 on our Part B premium, with the average monthly deduction being $164.90. The Part B annual deductible will drop to $226, a $7 savings. What’s disturbing is that only a few months ago the financial gurus were expecting we’d receive a 10.2% increase on Social Security, based on all the high prices we’ve been seeing this year and will likely see into 2023. Instead, they’ve lowered that to the 8.7% ... while prices have continued to rise. The problem is how those annual increases are calculated. They use the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners And Clerical Workers (CPI-W), which calculates the prices of goods and services for things those urban workers care about: clothing, education, electronics and so on. That CPI-W covers 29% of the population. Instead, they should use the Consumer Price Index for the Elderly (CPI-E), which focuses on goods and services that seniors spend money on: medical, drugs, food, housing and so on. The next time you call your senators and representatives, be sure to ask why the Elderly index isn’t being used. After all, they’ve been thinking about it since the 1980s. Meanwhile, don’t let the Medicare open enrollment period pass you by. Until Dec. 7 you have the option to make changes to your original Medicare Advantage plan, supplemental plan and prescription drug plan.

Snack Foods That Promote Better Sleep • Almonds: Magnesium is a mineral with muscle-relaxing properties, and almonds contain enough magnesium to help men and women get a better night’s sleep. A small amount of almonds before bed might be enough to make falling and staying asleep easier. • Bananas: Much like almonds, bananas provide a substantial amount of magnesium. Bananas also contain the amino acid tryptophan, which many people associate with Thanksgiving turkey. While tryptophan might be most often associated with the sleepiness people feel after eating a holiday meal, it also has been linked to better sleep quality, so a banana shortly before bed might be just what you need to fall and stay asleep.

RECIPES FOR FUN: If you’re preparing a meal, it could be a good time to teach children of reading age how to review a recipe. Evaluating ingredients to learn how food transforms from raw to cooked or how a dish is created can help kids learn kitchen skills. FOOD GROUPS FOCUS: Get kids involved in making dinner by setting a rule that each food group must be represented. Give them a warmup activity by asking which food groups are found in family favorites like chicken soup, lasagna or meatloaf. Asking kids to guess which ingredients are used in these dishes and identifying which food group each ingredient belongs to can help them understand dietary balance.
COMMON CAUSES OF TOOTHACHES Food: A kernel of popcorn wedged between teeth or a sharp piece of pizza crust that gets lodged behind a molar can cause pain if not addressed.

More and more gyms are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprints, and eco-friendly fitness enthusiasts can look for such facilities before purchasing or renewing their gym memberships. Some efforts gym owners make to reduce the carbon footprint of their facilities include using only ecofriendly, biodegradable cleaning products; installing low-flow toilets, faucets and shower heads in facility restrooms and bathing areas; and installing user-powered cardiovascular machinery that consume considerably less energy than traditional machines. Inquire about a facility’s carbon footprint before purchasing a membership.

TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.
Taking a Tetanus Vaccine With an Allergy Requires Careful Monitoring ---
MOMENTS IN TIME The History Channel * On Nov. 4, 1922, British archaeologists discover the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The tomb contained a stone sarcophagus with three nested coffins. Inside the final solid gold coffin was the mummy of the boyking Tutankhamen, preserved for more than 3,000 years.
DEAR DR. ROACH: I was told by my doctor that I need a tetanus booster shot, but when I was 17, I cut my foot and needed stitches. I was told then that I was allergic to the tetanus shot, so they gave me penicillin instead. Of course, that was a long time ago, since I’m now 81 years old. How could they have determined I was allergic to the shot, and is that even reliable? Can I be tested now? Or do I even need to be tested? -- M.N. ANSWER: Reactions to vaccines are common, but they were much more common 64 years ago, when the purity of vaccines was far less than what it is now. One reaction that was common in the 1950s is called an Arthus reaction, which causes painful swelling at the injection site within a few hours -- the worst swelling usually occuring around 24 hours later, and then slowly decreasing. You are unlikely to get that type of allergic reaction because of better vaccines, and because it has been so many years since you’ve taken the vaccine. Very few people get anaphylactic reactions. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening condition, which often starts with skin symptoms such as hives or swelling; respiratory symptoms such as nasal congestion, discharge or the sensation of the throat closing; gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain; and cardiovascular symptoms such as dizziness and fainting. Any history of anaphylaxis prevents you from getting the same trigger (vaccine or medication) again, if it can be helped. Only a careful history of your symptoms at the time of the allergic reaction you had can provide an answer on which type of reaction it was. Blood testing for allergic reactions is not 100% reliable. If you haven’t had a tetanus vaccine in over 60 years, the decision to get one now really is a judgment call based on your likelihood of exposures. If you do a lot of gardening or hiking, it may be worthwhile to give you a vaccine with careful monitoring. If you were to develop a tetanus-prone wound, such as a deep wound that comes into contact with soil or manure, you would be recommended tetanus immunoglobulin as well as a tetanus vaccine. Penicillin alone is not effective in preventing tetanus: Meticulous wound cleaning is critical, in addition to the shots. ***

S E V RA Thank You I just want to thank the sweet little girl who presented me with a delicious box of cookies and beautiful card in the Wegman’s parking lot on Rte 31. That was such a surprise and genuine act of love. It was such a perfect gift as our car wouldn’t start and I was experiencing a bit of nausea from the chemo I have been receiving. Not only did she give me the lovely box of cookies, but she and her mother found someone who could help us get our car started. I hope they read this because it meant so very much to me. I was kind of in shock at the time and didn’t get to express how much it meant. I just went home and cried! There are many good people in this world and that sweet little girl and her mom are a shining example of God’s love. Thank you for renewing my faith. I will definitely pass on the love you gave me. Trunk or treat at the Elks A shout out to the Elks Lodge #24! In this day and age when we adults have to teach our children to be wary of others, you showed up big time! You did an awesome job for the kids on Saturday, Oct.22. Each car, with their thought out decorations and friendly greetings from the adults, made my grandchildren feel so welcome! You were so in the spirit of what Halloween is about; the children! Thank you! What have I missed I grew up many years ago, married and raised a family. I taught my children to love God, treat people with kindness and respect and not to judge others because you do not walk in their shoes, even if you disagree with their opinions. I rode behind a car with a bumper sticker which stated, “I vote my faith ----- ----“. What have I missed in all these years? What religion teaches ridiculing others who disagree with your opinion? Verbally or physically attacking others? And that infidelity is OK? What have I missed?
Thank you, Officer I recently went to Krown Undercoating in East Rochester to have my car undercoated. I met a younger man waiting for work on his truck in the lounge room. He commented on my Navy veteran hat and thanked me for my service. I asked him where he worked and he said he worked for the city of Rochester. I asked if it was inside or outside work. He said he was a cop and he was going in for the afternoon shift. After further discussions he said that he worked in the Clinton Ave. area of Rochester. After a few minutes, he was called away because his truck was finished. A few minutes later I was also called to get my car. When I got to the front desk they said that the last gentleman paid my $150 bill. I was blown away because I am used to paying my own way. I ended up paying it forward for another person having a truck undercoated. I really appreciated this very kind gesture from this officer and thought that it was worthy of a public thank you because police are getting a lot of negative publicity. A shout out! My local village did a trunk or treat for the first time this year and I heard it was pretty successful. I love hearing all the positivity coming from small town's activities and upgrades!
Ignoring a 4 way stop sign On the morning of Oct. 25 at 6:50 am I left my parked car across from my cousin’s house to babysit. Before I could get across the road, a car came to the stop sign, never stopped, sped up around the corner and nearly hit me. He quickly veered around me but was too close for comfort and never slowed down.

585-967-7919 RESTORE RUSTY TOOLS Many people may be tempted to discard rusty tools that have gone unused and sat in a garage or shed for a significant period of time. But tools encrusted with rust do not need to be relegated to the trash bin, nor do gardeners have to toil for hours scraping and sanding off the rust. There’s a much easier way to restore rusty tools that relies on a common household ingredient: vinegar. Pour vinegar into a deep enough vessel to submerge the metal part of the tool. Soak the tool overnight. The next day, use a scouring pad to rub off the rust. If the tool is too big to fit into a can or bucket, simply wrap it with a vinegarsoaked rag and cover the whole tool with a tightly secured plastic bag. Follow the same procedure the next day. After all the rust is gone, rinse the tool in cool water and dry thoroughly. Then return it to regular usage. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

Novembe 2 0 2 2 Dansville Public Library Goes Fine Free! The Dansville Public Library is happy to announce that we will be Fine Free for all materials, effective November 1, 2022. This means that patrons will no longer accrue fines on books and other materials returned past their due dates. This fine free policy applies to everything the Dansville Public Library loans out, plus existing fines have been forgiven. In 2019, the American Library Association passed a resolution citing monetary fines as an economic barrier to access of library materials and services. This resolution also recognized fines as a form of “social inequity,” and urged libraries to actively “move toward eliminating them.” Dansville Public Library joins numerous libraries in Livingston County, the OWWL Library System, and around the country that are removing barriers to library access by going Fine Free.
Check out Dino-vember at the Library!
Studies have shown that fines do not impact return rates of library materials. Once someone has a late fine, they are less likely to visit the library again because they cannot pay or because the perceived stigma of having incurred fines. In reality, libraries that have removed late fees report few adverse effects on material return rates. Some have even reported an increased rate of returns after becoming Fine Free.
Dino-vember kicks off on Saturday, November 5, from 10am to 12pm with dinosaur crafts, stories, & fun at the Library! Then, stop back throughout the month of November for more dinosaur activities!
Dansville Public Library previously charged 10 cents per day late for all items except DVDs which were $1.00 per day late. Going Fine Free will not significantly impact the library’s financial viability: the amount of late fines collected accounts for less than 0.2% of the library’s operating budget.
The Library will be closed on Friday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans Day.
Check out the Library’s Online Calendar for more awesome events this month: owwl.libcal.com/calendar/ DansvillePublicLibrary.
Having no late fines does not mean that patrons can keep library materials as long as they would like. Library materials will continue to have due dates. If items are returned a few days late, the patron will not be penalized. However, if a patron has five or more items past due, borrowing privileges will be suspended until the items are returned. Patrons will continue to be responsible for the replacement costs of lost or damaged items.
The Library will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 23rd and will be closed all day on Thursday, November 24th, for Thanksgiving. Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping, and days are getting shorter! This Thanksgiving season and always, we are thankful for our patrons for everything that you do to support your public library!
The Dansville Public Library looks forward to welcoming Dansville community residents and OWWL Library System patrons to enjoy its collections, programs, and events without the stigma, inconvenience, or burden of late fines!

Janice C. Hawk October 29, 2022
St. George - Forsythe Funeral Home and Monuments
Dansville: Janice C. Hawk, age 90, passed away Saturday morning, October 29, 2022, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris.
109 West Naples St. • Wayland, NY 14572
(585) 728-2100
She was born in Chittenango, NY on May 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Frances (La Moy) May. She graduated from Chittenango High School and attended SUNY Oswego, where she met her future husband. On April 21, 1951, she was married to Albert W. Hawk, who predeceased her on October 15, 2018. She was also predeceased by a son, Steven A. Hawk. Jan was known for her abundant kindness and selfless generosity. One small example were the thousands of cards that she sent to family, friends and acquaintances to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and special events. Jan was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter what was needed. She made time to talk to people, was quite a storyteller, and made the best apple pie ever. Jan was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dansville. Over the years, she volunteered in many different capacities for the church, including church council secretary, managing the church newsletter, junior choir director, 50+ years on altar guild, being an usher and helping with the blanket ministry. She was known for her excellence in knot tying with the blankets. Jan also volunteered for the Spice Box at Noyes Memorial Hospital, the Town of North Dansville as an Election Inspector, the Clara Barton Chapter # 1 of The American Red Cross and for many, many years, with the Dogwood Festival Committee.
WHY BUY LIFE INSURANCE? Facing one’s mortality and the prospect of leaving family members behind is not always easy. Death, financial security and planning for the future are all difficult subjects, but planning ahead can make matters much easier in the long run. Life insurance needs frequently come up when making plans, and many people find that purchasing a life insurance policy is a worthwhile investment. Life insurance holds an important place in overall financial planning. One of the most apparent benefits of life insurance is that it will provide a considerable sum of cash upon the insured’s death, which can be put toward the cost of funeral arrangements, housing and dependent care. Beyond end-of-life bills and care, life insurance can offer other advantages, say the experts at Allstate Insurance Company. Life insurance can provide a family with a financial safety net. When a beneficiary is named, life insurance can serve as an inheritance for that person or people. Heirs may face estate taxes after a loved one dies, and life insurance benefits may help offset all or a portion of the costs.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Henry) Robin; a son, Douglas (Cindy) Hawk; a sister, Dorothy Saunders; grandchildren, Andrew (Megan) Hawk, Sarah (Chris) Walczyk, Trinity Robin, Heather Robin, Penny (Adam) Leven, and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Monday, November 7 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main Street, Dansville, NY 14437. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 8 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Hornell Area Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.
There may be benefits to life insurance while a person is living as well. The life insurance information site Term Life 2 Go says that, depending on the policy, life insurance can be borrowed against to pay off debt, buy a house or live off of dividends from the life insurance investment. This can provide a source of supplemental retirement income. Gateway Financial advisors say that many life insurance plans are extremely flexible and can be modified as needs change. Death benefits may be decreased if desired, and premiums can be skipped, reduced or increased. Business owners also can use life insurance policies to their advantage. Including life insurance with the list of other benefits offered to prospective employees can entice top-notch candidates. Sole proprietors may use life insurance as a business continuation plan so that insurance proceeds can keep the business in the black until it is sold or a replacement owner is found. Shopping for life insurance requires careful research and an understanding of the products available. Consumers should have a thorough understanding of term and whole life policies, what premiums will cost, what the death benefit will pay, and if there are any living benefits. For example, living benefits may cover some costs for chronically or terminally ill people. Working with an experienced life insurance advisor can help people navigate the types of policies available to them. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

SHOW ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS THEY ARE APPRECIATED Business owners and bosses and high-level executives may have their names on placards or monogrammed stationery, but the most successful businesses tend to be those in which the entire staff, from the company president to administrative professionals and so on, works together. Administrative professionals, sometimes referred to as “admins,” handle everything from spreadsheet generation to PowerPoint presentations to preparing schedules. Admins are often the unsung heroes of the workplace, and while they may not receive much fanfare, without the continued efforts of admins, businesses may grind to a halt. In recognition of the roles they play, administrative professionals have been honored during a special week each April for the past 60 years. Called Secretary’s Day upon its inception in 1952, the holiday was later expanded and the name changed to incorporate all of the employees who play pivotal administrative rolls in companies big and small. Administrative professionals do a lot to keep companies afloat and operating smoothly. Supervisors, managers and other higher-ups can take every opportunity to show their appreciation to these hard, yet often unsung, workers.
*Salary includes $4,000 geographical differential.

T Gray Automotive 585-346-0250 WORKING PARENTS CAN CREATE BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE Many working parents struggle to maintain a healthy balance between their responsibilities at work and their obligations to their families. An inability to maintain that healthy balance can have adverse effects on men and women’s careers as well as the relationships they have with their families. A 2015 survey of more than 2,000 adults commissioned by the workplace solution provider Workfront found that 38 percent of survey participants have missed life events because of a bad work-life balance. Access to technology that means work is never too far away might contribute to poor work-life balance, as 57 percent of respondents also acknowledged feeling that technology has ruined the definition of a family dinner. Finding a healthy balance between work and life at home may require a concerted effort on the part of working parents, but there are ways to successfully juggle a career and family.

Retirement can seem like it will never come for young professionals. But time can be a sieve, and retirement age can arrive in the blink of an eye. Young adults who have not planned accordingly for retirement can find themselves in financial straits at a point in their lives when they want to kick back and enjoy themselves. Financial experts from Money, CNN and The Motley Fool advise that financially solvent people should begin saving aggressively for their retirements early on. Ideally people should start saving in their 20s when they first leave school and begin their careers. The sooner one saves, the more time money has to grow. Vanguard says that the person who saves $4,500 per year over a career spanning 45 years can reach a goal of having more than $1 million in savings by the time he or she retires. Compounding interest and investment matches from employers can further secure professionals’ financial futures.
