• Use rubbing alcohol. Solutions that contain 70 percent alcohol are effective against many viruses and bacteria. Nearly every interior surface of a vehicle can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.

• Avoid bleach or hydrogen peroxide. They are likely to damage a car’s upholstery. • Use soap and water: Experts say that vigorous washing with a soapand-water solution can be effective against many contaminants. Friction also can help to break down germ cells during cleaning.

• Address frequently touched surfaces. Pay attention to the steering wheel, door handles, buttons, touchscreen displays, shift lever, and more when sanitizing.

POOL SAFETY ESSENTIALS TO LIVE BY Learn your local ordinances. Local ordinances will spell out which precautionary measures are required by law for people who have a backyard pool. These often include a fenced yard, a fence around inground pools that is at least four feet high, self-latching gates, and/or pool ladders that can be locked or closed when the pool isn’t in use.

HOW TO KEEP OUTDOOR LIVING AREAS SAFE Use an appropriate extension cord. String lights above outdoor living spaces like decks and patios can create a warm, relaxing nighttime vibe. Those lights need to be plugged in, which increases the risk for electrical accidents. When utilizing an extension cord outdoors, never use a cord designated for indoor use. Outdoor extension cords are better insulated than cords made for indoor use. That insulation provides better protection against the elements, including sunlight, changes in temperature and moisture. When using an extension cord outdoors, make sure the cord is secured and not left lying on a deck or patio where it can easily become a tripping hazard.

SOUND CONTROL KEY TO A CALM, RELAXING HOME Inside and out, life can be loud. Retreat from the hustle and bustle of the world by making your home, or specific rooms within it, a calm, relaxing sanctuary. There’s a room in every house that could benefit from greater sound control, whether it’s a home theater, music room, studio, home office, children’s play room, bathroom, mechanical, or laundry room. Insulating properly will allow you to really enjoy your home that much more and achieve a higher level of comfort. Experts suggest selecting a dense insulation with a non-directional fiber structure to combat airborne noise such as music, speech and foot traffic. This insulation material creates an excellent sound barrier that effectively absorbs noise and reduces the transfer of sound waves from one room to another. Its resistance to fire is an added benefit that also adds passive fire protection to your home, a type of fire precaution that is part of the core of the building and will help control fire by limiting its spread. Certain sound dampening measures, such as carpeting, might also help alleviate echo and reverberation, as will acoustic panels that prevent sound reflections throughout a room. With basic DIY skills, you can simply and affordably construct your own acoustic panels using a stone wool rigid board which is effective at reducing the intensity and propagation of noise.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I live in hot, humid Florida and have the opportunity to adopt two kittens. My home has no air conditioning -- only ceiling and floor fans. When I return home during the summer, the indoor temperature can reach 95 degrees with high humidity. Can a kitten handle such high indoor temperatures and high humidity for nine hours a day? If there is any possibility of harm, I will not obtain the kittens. -- Ann T., via email DEAR ANN: If there’s doubt in your mind, you already know the answer. I commend you for thinking of the welfare of the kittens first. Now, I’ll tell you a similar story. During my first years out of college, I rented a small apartment in sunny, humid Orlando that had no air conditioning either. However, the first thing I purchased was a window unit air conditioner. Not for me, but for my cat. It was a significant expense, and it boosted my electric bill dramatically, but I didn’t think twice about it. Pets rely on us to keep them safe, fed and comfortable. An indoor cat doesn’t have control over the temperature and humidity in the home. As the temperature rises, they have few options to cool off -- no breezy, shady spots to lounge in, not much fresh air. At 95 degrees, even with a full bowl of water nearby, pets can suffer a heat injury. Kittens are even more vulnerable. If you’d like to adopt the kittens, first work out a way to keep your home’s temperature below 80 degrees. Pets are an investment in happiness. Their comfort and safety are part of that investment. Thank you again for thinking of the kittens’ safety.

THINK TICKS! Ticks spread disease. Take steps to protect yourself and your family. HOW TO AVOID TICKS • Wear light-colored clothing to spot ticks easily. • Wear enclosed shoes, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Tuck pant legs into socks or boots and shirt into pants. • Check clothes and skin often for ticks while outdoors. • Use insect repellent. • Walk on cleared, well-traveled trails. Walk in the center of trails. Avoid dense woods and bushy areas. • Bathe or shower within 2 hours after going indoors (to wash off and easily find ticks.) • Do a full-body tick check at the end of the day and remove ticks right away
HOW TO REMOVE A TICK • Using fine tipped tweezers, grasp the tick near mouthparts as close to skin as possible. • Pull tick in an upward, steady motion away from skin. • Clean the bite site with soap and water, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide. • Record date and location of tick bite. If a rash or flu-like symptoms appear, contact your health care provider as soon as possible. The risk of Lyme disease is lower if the tick is removed within 24-36 hours. FREE TICK REMOVAL KITS available to Livingston County residents (limited supply) For more information about tick borne diseases, please call or visit:

Make it a water-based weekend. No matter where you live, a body of water is no doubt nearby. Though the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration indicates that roughly 40 percent of the United States population lives in a coastal region, oceans aren’t the only places to find some sand and enjoy a warm summer breeze. Lakes and rivers are great places to relax, and getaway seekers can utilize sites like Airbnb and Vrbo to find short-term waterfront rentals.

HOBBIES FOR DIFFERENT PERSONALITY TYPES Men and women who have experienced great success in the world of business can pursue a host of low-stress opportunities with a goal of sharing their experiences with the next generation of business leaders. Teaching a course at a local college or university is one such avenue, and executives can even offer to work with high school students interested in pursuing careers in business. Teaching and mentoring might be less traditional hobbies than crocheting or woodworking, but they still provide a way for adults to pursue their passions away from the constraints of the office.

are having your blood pressure taken, your arm should be elevated above your heart. When mine is taken this way, it is normal, around 120/70. When I go to the doctor, my blood pressure is taken with my arm hanging at my side. I often get a much higher reading taken this way, say, 140/90. Is there a correct way to take it, and does it affect the reading? My doctor said the position doesn’t matter and wants to prescribe medication. -- U.P. ANSWER: When taking the blood pressure, the goal is to approximate the blood pressure in the heart. That means that the blood pressure cuff should be at the level of the heart. If the blood pressure cuff is above the heart, then the blood pressure reading will be artificially low. If the blood pressure cuff is dangling below the level of the heart, the reading will be high. For every 10 cm (about 4 inches) above the heart, the blood pressure will be about 7 mm of mercury too low. If I stretch out my arm as high as I can above my heart, I can get it about 30 cm higher than my heart, which would be enough to explain the difference between the 140/90 and 120/70 you have observed. However, for most people when sitting up straight, a properly placed cuff on the arm will approximate the same level as the heart. Although you are right that the position matters, it sounds like the doctor’s office is taking the reading correctly. I should also note that the feet should be resting on the floor, not dangling, which can artificially raise the blood pressure. The arm should be supported while taking the blood pressure. I recommend taking the blood pressure three times and using the average. Given how important blood pressure is, correct technique is essential in order to properly recommend who should get blood pressure treatment. Evidence is increasing that a 24-hour home blood pressure device is more accurate at determining who might need medication, especially in suspected white coat hypertension, where the readings are artificially high just because a person is in the office (even if they don’t feel nervous). ***

DO I NEED BUNION SURGERY? Brett Sachs, DPM, FACFAS • Foot & Ankle Surgeon practicing in Denver, CO • Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
(NAPSI)—One in five Americans suffers from bunions. A bunion, or hallux valgus, starts out as redness and a bump on the side of the foot near the big toe. Over time, bunions can cause chronic pain and restrict movement. Bunions are progressive and don’t go away on their own, so it’s important for people with bunions to see a foot and ankle surgeon who will evaluate the severity of the deformity and develop a treatment plan. Nonsurgical treatments may reduce the chance of damage to the joint and ease the pain of bunions. However, these treatments will not reverse the deformity itself. If the pain begins interfering with normal daily activities, surgical intervention will typically be the next step. Until recently, the procedure had been very painful and the recovery difficult. However, foot and ankle surgeons have made several advancements in surgical techniques and patients return to normal activities sooner. Recovery typically takes four to six weeks. Foot and ankle surgeons implement pain management techniques following bunion surgery, including using nerve blocks, postsurgical pain pumps, and vitamin C and calcium supplements. These let patients recover fully with minimal pain. For more information or to find a foot and ankle surgeon nearby, visit www. FootHealthFacts.org, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons’ patient education website. Brett Sachs, DPM, FACFAS is a boardcertified foot and ankle surgeon and Fellow Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

DID YOU KNOW?
Spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, is the most common cause of mortality in infants. According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, SMA is a motor neuron disease that affects the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and voluntary muscle movement. WebMD notes that the severity of SMA varies widely, but the disease is known to weaken muscles and can cause difficulty eating, breathing and walking. In the past, infants diagnosed with SMA typically did not survive more than two years, but the MDA notes that doctors now prefer to avoid making rigid predictions on life expectancy based strictly on age of onset.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles Study: the Second Half of Our Lives Sometimes the results of research and studies are suspect if we don’t trust the sources, but AARP and National Geographic recently published a joint study on the realities of the second half of life, and it doesn’t get any better than that. Their study covered the big topics as we age: health, relationships, financial security, housing, independent living, end of life, retirement and more. Here are some highlights: • We care most about our brain health, our independence and our relationships, in that order, as we move into our 70s. By the time we reach our 80s, it’s relationships that spike to the top of our list of concerns. • Guess what plunges by the time we reach our 70s? Work, and it’s no surprise. We’ve been there and done that, and the idea of climbing the ladder of success at work no longer appeals to us. • Health is a curious category, but it makes sense once you think about it. It seems that those who are the healthiest are the ones who are most concerned about their health, likely because they’d like to stay that way and remain active. They’re into walking and exercising and taking flu shots, whereas the ones who have a serious medical condition are less concerned, perhaps having accepted the reality of less-than-stellar health. But age plays a part in that: We’re most concerned about health in our 60s, much less concerned in our 70s, and very concerned again in our 80s, mostly about stamina, strength and flexibility. There’s something to be said for picking a form of exercise and sticking with it, especially if it helps with those three concerns. At the end of the day, the older we get, the more we care about meaningful relationships. As AARP noted, “Friends, family and community are the hallmarks of finding happiness. 2ND ANNUAL SUMMER BASH
at Farmer’s Creekside a Huge Success! BY AMANDA DUDEK As rays from the descending sun danced on the nearby banks of the Oatka, the 2nd annual Summer Bash was just getting into full swing. Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn in LeRoy once again hosted this funfilled celebration to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY (CFF). Genesee Valley Publications staff were joined by several friends, family members, and advertising partners to help make this event even bigger than it was last year.
The Summer Bash was indeed a terrific success. Not only did this stunning local eatery provide the perfect atmosphere for celebration, but they also went above and beyond in their generosity. Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn donated three huge gift baskets to our silent auction which garnered over $600 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY. On behalf of GVP and CFF, we would like to thank Creekside for donating so much in support of such a worthy cause!
The Summer Bash was open to the public, and guests gathered along the tavern’s creek level patio, enjoying the outdoor bar and moving to the live music—thanks to Encore Events—flowing from the outdoor stage. On this patio as well as on one of its deck areas, guests strolled between vendors for select wine, brews, and spirits tastings.
Since 1955, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) has been working hard to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives. CFF funds research and drug development, advocates treatment tailored to the individual, and works to guarantee access to specialized care based on ever-developing best practices.
Sarah Christ and Kara Ivison of Home magazine produced by Genesee Valley Publications (GVP), joined Sarah Farmer and Maria Valencia of Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn to make this possible. These vendors brought some of their finest and most popular selections. All were enthusiastic and gracious as they shared their specialties. Among these were such vendors as Thin Man Brewery, Opici Wine & Spirits, Ziobaffa Wine, Blue Nectar, Lockhouse Distillery, Ravines Wine Cellars, Rohrbach Brewing Co., Hercules Mulligan, Black Button Distilling, Genesee Brewery, BeerPass, Deep Eddy Vodka, Monsieur Touton, Norwhey Nordic Seltzers, and Iron Smoke Distillery.
Rochester’s Finest works with CFF in their mission to find a cure for all people living with CF. Thanks to the cystic fibrosis drug therapies now available, and thanks to the Foundation and its supporters, many people with CF are living into their 40’s and beyond! For more information about CFF and to purchase tickets for its end-of-the-year fundraising celebration at La Luna High Falls, visit https://finest.cff.org/Rochester.
Creekside itself offered a specially curated menu for the celebration, including select wines and brews, specialty cocktails, and delectable dishes such as its watermelon salad and its chicken French dip sandwich, not to mention mouthwatering hand-cut fries. As always, every possible item was made from scratch, right down to some of the simple syrups in the cocktails. Guests could simply could not get enough! “The Summer Bash at Creekside was awesome!” said guest and LeRoy resident Chuck Flynn. “The food, friends, food, music, & drink were superb! If you missed it, put it on your calendar next year, like, right now.” The Summer Bash was also part of GVP’s MacKenzie McGrain’s efforts as one of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Rochester’s Finest. “I would like to thank everyone who participated in the silent auction to help raise over $2,000 in funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,” said McGrain. “I am so grateful to my mentor, Christine White, for nominating me as one of Rochester’s Finest honorees this year, as well as to Patty Schwarzweller the director of CFF of Western New York. I would like to also thank Laurie Abbott, Sarah Christ, and Kara Ivison for guiding me to success before, during, and after the event. I am honored to be a part of such an amazing foundation.” Thank you to Carla Coots from Insight Photo for capturing our event!

Master
Gardeners Decades ago, a family member told us to plant English Ivy in the beds next to our fence in the back yard. Thirty years later it’s now taking over. What method do you recommend to stop it? Cutting it and pulling it out isn’t feasible. Thank you! It can be challenging, some might ask what harm it is in taking over as doesn’t require a mower. But, if you want to remove any unwanted plants the best way that I have found is using Lasagna Mulching. Lasagna gardening, also known as sheet mulching is a no-till no-dig gardening method that turns materials like kitchen waste, straw, and newspapers into rich, healthy compost. Everything you
from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Livingston County use is pretty much the same things you would use to compost. Now you are just adding them directly to form an organic garden bed, and you don’t have to move compost. It’s already there! You can start making your lasagna garden any time of the year, but you can layer it up in the fall as you are putting your beds to bed, cover it up with plastic, and when it comes time to take off the plastic, you have great new compost and plant on that! To get started, cardboard or newspaper make an excellent bottom layer because they will smother grass and weeds. Water this bottom layer to hold it in place and
encourage decomposition. Then add a 2-inch layer of a carbon-rich “brown” material on top of the cardboard or newspaper layer, such as leaves, straw, black and white newspaper, sawdust, tea bags, or wood ash. Then add a 2-inch layer of nitrogen-rich” green” material such as grass clippings, kitchen scraps from fruits and vegetables, well-rotted horse or cow manure, coffee grounds, or plant cuttings without seeds. Garden
debris that contains weed seeds or diseased materials should not be used. Alternate layers of carbon-rich and nitrogen-rich material until the mulch reaches approximately 3 feet. You don’t need to turn the pile. - Sandy Vanno Master Gardener Warren County CC

If you do not have an in-ground irrigation system and don’t intend to install one, you will likely use lawn sprinklers to water the lawn. When placing these sprinklers, turn them on and then document their trajectory before moving on to the next area. You want to make sure the water from the sprinklers is not landing on sidewalks, patios or streets, especially if your community typically institutes drought restrictions that limit how much you can water. In such instances, you’ll need to make the best use of the water you’re allowed to use, so make sure none of it is watering the driveway.

OTHER CARE FOR TOOLS PROPERLY Homeowners often choose to save money and learn valuable skills by doing their own home improvement projects. These minor or major renovations are made much more successful by having the right tools for the job. Investing in good tools can be smart, but those tools are only effective if they are accessible and in good repair. Homeowners who emphasize taking care of their tools can make DIY projects that much easier and more rewarding.

ITEMS TO AVOID WHEN COMPOSTING • Black walnut tree leaves or twigs: Leaves or twigs from black walnut release substances that might prove harmful to plants. • Coal or charcoal ash: Coal or ash from charcoal, such as the ash that builds up in the bottom of charcoal grills, may contain substances that are harmful. • Dairy products: When added to compost piles, dairy products, including butter, milk, sour cream, yogurt and eggs, can be malodorous and may attract pests, including rodents and flies. • Diseased or insect-ridden plants: The diseases and insects that plague plants may survive being transferred to compost piles. When the compost is ultimately distributed, these diseases and insects might then plague other plants. • Fats, grease, lard, or oils: Fats, grease, lard or oils also may attract rodents and flies, and that might be due to the unpleasant odors such substances can produce when added to compost piles. • Meat or fish bones and scraps: Like fats, grease, lard or oils, scraps from meat and fish and fish bones can smell unpleasant, potentially attracting rodents and flies. • Pet waste: Pet waste, including soiled cat litter, may contain parasites, bacteria, germs, pathogens, and viruses that can be harmful. • Grass trimmings treated with chemical pesticides: Trimmings from grass that was treated with chemical pesticides can negate the effects of composting by killing beneficial organisms produced within compost piles or bins. DID YOU KNOW? According to Mental Health America, individuals’ reactions to the death of a loved one can elicit unique emotions linked to their relationship to the deceased. For example, MHA, a community-based nonprofit focused on promoting mental health, notes that a child’s death could inspire different feelings than the loss of an elderly spouse. When parents lose a child, that death may arouse a sense of injustice that can overwhelm the child’s parents as they contemplate lost potential, unfulfilled dreams and, in certain instances, the child’s suffering. Elderly individuals who lose a spouse may be overcome by feelings of loneliness. Recognition of these different reactions is important because it can help individuals and their support networks more effectively cope with their grief. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

What is wrong with people? I help a neighbor who runs a consignment shop outside of [local town]. It has clothing bins for donations of clothing and shoes outside in her parking lot. People keep leaving items like glassware, children’s toys, old furniture, etc. The truck only picks up the clothing donations in the bins. The store owner must then pay to dispose of all the stuff people leave there. We even left a note out there asking people to please donate [those items] elsewhere or to put it at the end of their own driveway with a “free” sign. If it’s junk, please dispose of it yourself. It has been costly for the shop owner, who runs a small business, and hurtful (to say the least) to find a new pile of stuff there every week!
Great Job! Great job to the crews, RG&E, Frontier, Spectrum and the multiple tree service companies and anyone else for cleaning up the mess after the big storm. They worked nonstop, and I appreciate it. Thanks! The Gnomes did it! We have a back shade garden in our yard. There are gnome houses, and gnomes running rampant through the garden. Someone added to our Gnome Village. Thank you to whoever installed the three little gnomes to Summers Street. They are a great addition! Very thoughtful of you!
Time to End This is a touchy subject, but I’ll say it anyways. When will we start considering impeachment of all our leaders in Washington? I’m not taking sides in politics, but at what point do we all realize what’s happening across America? If I don’t do my job at work, I get fired. I see no difference here.
Thank you, Minnehan's Restaurant! A huge "thank you" to Tim Minnehan and Minnehan's Restaurant for providing every camp participant in the Livingston County Baseball/Softball Camp with free ice cream and Mini Golf! Thanks, James! I visited the Burger King in Geneseo the other day and had the pleasure of being served by James. He was very patient with me while I made my decision. His friendliness and excellent customer service towards me and the other customers in the restaurant was refreshing. James, you are a gem!

STRANGE BUT TRUE
Broadening one’s horizons through crafting can be a worthwhile pursuit. Crafting can serve as a relaxing pastime and provide an opportunity to learn rewarding skills. Learning to crochet is one way for men and women to combine creativity and practicality. Crochet is a form of handwork using yarn and a crochet hook. According to the Crochet Guild of America, there’s no way to know just how old the art of crochet is. However, crochet expert Annie Potter has said the modern form of the art originated in the 16th century, primarily in France and England. Others surmise crocheting traces its origins to Arabia before it spread westward through various Mediterranean trade routes.

Look for ways to be more efficient. Interactions with coworkers can make work more enjoyable, but working parents should not spend too much time shooting the breeze with their fellow employees. Doing so wastes time and only contributes to work-related stress. Commuters who don’t drive themselves to work can be more efficient by using their commutes to read emails, arrange meetings or catch up on projects. Doing so allows for more time to get work done while in the office, which can make it easier to go home on time.

DID YOU KNOW? Brief breaks during the work day can dramatically improve one’s ability to focus on a task. A 2011 study published in the journal Cognition found that brief mental breaks can improve focus on a prolonged task. The study’s authors tested participants’ ability to focus on a repetitive computerized task for 50 minutes under various conditions. The control group performed the task without breaks or diversions. The switch group and non-switch group memorized four digits before performing the task and were directed to respond if they saw one of the digits on the screen while performing the task. The switch group was the only group to be presented with the digits twice during the experiment, and both groups were tested on their memory of the digits at the end of the task. Most participants’ performance declined considerably over the course of the 50-minute task. However, the performance of those in the switch group did not decline at all, as the two brief breaks to respond to the digits allowed them to maintain their focus throughout the experiment. The researchers behind the study concluded that the switch group’s performance was steady because the brain is built to detect and respond to change, and its performance will actually suffer if it must maintain prolonged attention on a single task without taking a break. Professionals with a lot on their plates may see their performance improve by taking frequent mental breaks throughout the workday. EMPLOYMENT

DID YOU KNOW? Nursing is one of the fastest-growing and longest-running occupations in the United States and Canada. The New England Hospital for Women and Children, established in 1862, was the first nursing school in the United States. The first formal nursing training program in Canada was established in 1874 at the General and Marine Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario. The American Nurses Association was started in 1898. The Canadian Nurses’ Association, formerly the Canadian National Association of Trained Nurses, was developed in 1907. These associations are national professional associations representing the hundreds of thousands of nurses across the country and are instrumental in legislative policy and the influences of health care on nursing professionals today.

How households earn their income has changed dramatically over the last several decades. According to a Pew Research Centeral analysis of the Decennial Census and American Community Surveys integrated Public Use Microdata Sample files, in 1960 only fathers worked in 70 percent of American households. That figure has dropped in each ensuing decade and by 2012 fathers were the sole earners in just 31 percent of American households. While one in four households in American were dual income households in 1960, by 2012 that figure had risen to 60 percent. While those figures represent dramatic changes, the number of households in which mothers are the sole earners has not changed all that much since 1960. In 1960, mothers were the sole earners in just 2 percent of American households. Fifty-two years later 6 percent of American households featured mothers as the sole earners.

RELOCATING FOR A NEW JOB Rent your first home. The Allied survey found that 31 percent of respondents indicated the most challenging part of relocating for a job was finding a home, while 29 percent felt acclimating to their new community was the most challenging aspect of their relocation. Adults who rent their first homes upon relocating can remove some of the pressure to find the perfect home, knowing full well their first home in their new community will be temporary. If possible, rent in a location that makes it easy to immerse yourself in your new community, which should make the adjustment easier. In addition, place items that are unnecessary for day-to-day life in storage. Having some of your possessions already packed should make your next move less stressful.

What The People Want The national study commissioned by the Carton Council of North America showed that 61 percent of respondents report they always recycle their food and beverage cartons, up 11 percentage points from when the survey was last conducted two years ago. How To Tell Whether Something Is Recyclable The survey showed that packaging remains the top source for determining recyclability, while friends and family as well as the news gained momentum. Nearly two-thirds of respondents said that if a package did not have a recycling symbol or language indicating the item is recyclable, they would assume it’s not. One help is that now food and beverage cartons can carry the standard “Please Recycle” logo. The ability to use the label is based on the milestone that more than 60 percent of U.S. households have access to carton recycling, a threshold set by the Federal Trade Commission green guidelines for packaging. However, just because a package doesn’t have a recycling symbol, doesn’t mean that it’s not recyclable. To find out, consumers should call their local community or visit its website. “The survey findings highlight that as more Americans have gained access to food and beverage carton recycling, awareness that cartons are recyclable has also increased,” explained Jason Pelz, vice president of recycling projects for the Carton Council of North America and circular economy director for Tetra Pak. The Carton Council works to deliver longterm collaborative solutions to divert valuable cartons from the landfill.
