GENERAL CONTRACTING

PROTECT YOUR HOME FROM WINTER’S FREEZE Plumbing Plumbing and pipes may be vulnerable to cold weather. Frozen pipes may burst and cause substantial damage to a home, potentially causing flooding and structural damage.

We Put Integrity Back Into Business. Roofing • Siding • Decks Additions • Metal Roofing Senior & Military Discounts • Fully Insured

Homeowners should disconnect and drain garden hoses before winter arrives. Water to outdoor hose bibs should be turned off, though the valves on these outdoor faucets should be left open to drain. Also, outdoor faucets can be covered with insulating foam covers.

All Weather Contracting, LLC

The Red Cross says pipes that freeze most frequently include pipes in unheated areas, such as basements, attics, garages, and crawl spaces. Close vents to the outside in areas like attics and basements to limit the amount of cold air that gets indoors. Think about insulating unheated areas, as well as using pipe sleeves, heat tape or wraps on exposed pipes.

By opening kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors, homeowners can allow warm air from a home to reach pipes under the sink. During extreme freezes, keep cold water dripping from a sink to prevent pipes from freezing.

GARDENING IN AUTUMN Autumn is gardening season. That statement may not seem right to those who think of the spring as the peak time to care for lawns and gardens. However, autumn is an ideal time to get into the garden and ensure that flowers, trees and garden beds will over-winter successfully. A number of things make autumn a prime gardening season. The cooler days of fall enable gardeners to spend ample time outdoors without the threat of blazing heat. In addition, soil harbors a lot of residual warmth in autumn. Also, the colder temperatures haven’t yet arrived in autumn, nor have the leaves completely fallen, making fall a prime time to assess what’s already in the landscape, what needs pruning back and where to address planting for next year. LAWN & LANDSCAPING HOROSCOPE ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Travel plans could be interrupted by the re-emergence of a workplace problem that was never quite fully resolved. Deal with it at once, and then take off on that well-deserved trip. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Aspects favor cultural activities for sensuous Bovines. Attend a concert or an art show. Better yet, create something yourself (a poem, perhaps?), and dedicate it to someone special. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Respect any doubts you might now be feeling about a new situation. They could be reflecting your inner awareness that some essential information might be missing. Check it out. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) It’s important to start the new month with as clean a slate as possible. Either complete all those unfinished tasks or pass them on to others who would be more than happy to take them on. LEO (July 23 to August 22) This is a good time to cut down on expenses and tame that urge to splurge. Applying some financial discipline now could help the Big Cat ride out a possible monetary crunch later on. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Money matters are dominant this week. Recheck your accounts and make sure they’re up-todate. Also, pay more attention to personal issues before they become major problems. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) You might be tempted to employ the same tactics as your adversary, but that could backfire. Better to use the same balanced approach that has worked for you before and could again. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) A changing workplace environment could stir up confusion as well as apprehension. Best to ignore the rumors and get the facts. You could find that the changes bring positive elements. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Communication is easier this week with people ready and eager to hear what you have to say. Also, check for possible technical problems before you start your new project. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) Aspects favor change for the usually traditional Goat. Opening your mind to possibilities you had ignored could lead you to make decisions you once considered improbable. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) Making personal as well as professional adjustments to changing conditions might be easier with more information explaining the “hows” and “whys” of the situations in question. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) With a growing tide of positive reactions to buoy your confidence, this could be the right time to put the finishing touches to your new project and get it well and truly launched. BORN THIS WEEK: You have a gift for setting an example of quiet, calm reasoning in the midst of chaotic conditions. (c) 2019 King Features Synd., Inc.

HOW TO MAKE EXISTING WINDOWS MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT Caulk or add weatherstripping. Small cracks and gaps around windows, which are most often found around windows in older buildings, might not seem like a big deal, but such breaches can lead to considerable energy loss. The DOE recommends using caulk to seal cracks that are less than 1/4-inch wide on the parts of the window that do not move (i.e., frames and where the trim meets the wall). Caulk might be less effective at fixing leaks larger than 1/4 inch in width. Employ weatherstripping to address leaks on movable parts of the window. Properly applied weatherstripping should adequately seal windows when they are closed without making it difficult to open or close them later on. Weatherstripping is available in various materials. One of the easiest and most effective defenses against heat loss is proper insulation. Prevent cold drafts from entering and the loss of heated air through basement headers, which, when left exposed, can make your furnace work harder. Look for a moisture-resistant product offering high thermal performance, such as Roxul Comfortbatt insulation. This type of mineral wool insulation makes installation simple. All that’s needed is a serrated blade or bread knife. Cut the batt to fit the cavity and press into place. The insulation will help improve energy efficiency as soon as it’s in place and provide savings over the lifetime of your home. Comfortbatt can also be used to top or replace old attic insulation. Aim for an R-50 or a depth of 16 inches.

Florence Kinney: Mrs. Claus for 30 Years! By Amanda Dudek n December 1989, Florence Kinney and her husband, Charles, had just moved from Wayne County to Webster when a local newspaper story caught her attention. Two little boys were to undergo organ transplant surgery right at Christmas. Kinney knew she had to do something for these children.

I

children are often also in need of clothing,” explained Kinney. “So, we added clothing to our gifts, particularly things like hoodies, socks, mittens and scarves.” Area knitters also contribute warm clothing items. “These children have next to nothing,” said Kinney. “We give them nice clothing as well as toys.”

“I asked my husband if we could buy two little toy trucks for these boys,” said Kinney. “He agreed, and we left the them anonymously at the hospital.” It was not long afterwards that Kinney read more news stories about the children who were sick and in the hospital over Christmas, about how sad they were and how they wondered if Santa would know where they were.

Florence Kinney plans to continue with SWHC because she has seen its impact firsthand. “A doctor at RGH told us it was the best medicine at Christmastime that a child could receive,” shared Kinney. “He told my husband and I that there wasn’t a medicine on their shelves that could raise the morale like what we did. It nearly brought us to tears.”

“I wanted to buy just a few presents for these children, too,” Kinney said. “Charles said, “Okay, just a few more, but this is it.” We went out shopping and bought 400 gifts.” When the Kinneys called Rochester General Hospital (RGH) with the news, they were “thrilled to pieces.” Word of this generous couple donating Christmas gifts quickly spread to other hospitals and organizations.

For 30 years, parents and children only knew the gifts came “from somebody who cares.” Only administrators knew who Mr. & Mrs. Claus really were. “It has been a wonderful experience,” said Kinney. “A lot of little kids have smiled over the years, and that makes me smile. For little ones who are so ill and have next to nothing, you change their lives and make a difference.” For Kinney, it is God’s work. “It was a calling on our lives, and this world needs more hands and feet for the Lord. That’s how I see it,” shared Kinney, who wrote about SWHC in her book, From the Heart of a Child. “SWHC is a Christ-Centered organization, and we know the Lord blesses it.” This year, the SWHC is already preparing for the holidays. “We need more elves!” exclaimed Kinney. “This requires a lot of lifting and sorting. We are talking thousands of pieces here! Anyone who would like to donate, please do. Everything is completely appreciated!”

Florence Kinney stands beside mound of toys!

“We were approached by a reporter for an interview, but we told him that we were not going to continue because we felt we did not have the financial means to do so,” explained Kinney.

For more information, contact Florence Kinney at (585) 671-6255.

Kinney and her husband believed that would be the end of it, but one afternoon she received an unexpected phone call from this same reporter. “He said, ‘Mrs. Kinney, I do not mean to be pestering about this, but I have one question for you. Have you and your husband prayed about this?’ I said, ‘No.’ He replied, ‘I wish you would because I think you might come up with a different answer.’” So, Charles and Florence Kinney did. “We suddenly felt this warmth from our heads to our feet. We knew this was the Lord’s calling on our lives,” explained Kinney, and Santa’s Workshop for Hospitalized Children (SWHC) was born. SWHC is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and has given over 85,000 children a gift of love at Christmastime and beyond. Sadly, SWHC lost Charles Kinney in 2003; however, it continues to touch lives at RGH, Ronald McDonald House the Golisano Children’s Hospital Cancer Wing, the Cure Cancer Association, Webster Hope House and Williamson Community. “There is joy in a toy,” shared Kinney. “We typically bring gifts to 4,000-5,000 children a year. When we started, we were only serving a few hundred children and never dreamed we would serve this many.” Florence Kinney worked three jobs to help fund SWHC, from managing an office to being an Avon representative, even selling candy bars! “It was tough,” she recalled. The Kinneys soon realized they needed help. “We got ourselves some elves!” shared Kinney. “During those early years, we were myself, my husband, my mother and nine others, like the 12 disciples. We have seen a lot of miracles over the years, including needed items that just show up.”

Each year, Santa's Workshop for Hospitalized Children gives gifts to thousands of children who are ill.

SOY FOODS PACK A POWERFUL PUNCH The Cleveland Clinic notes that soy foods provide a host of nutritional benefits. Plant protein, including soy, can provide cardiovascular benefits, including helping with people with high blood pressure lower their blood pressure to healthier levels. While many people rely on animal-based proteins to get their daily recommended intake of protein, soy foods are naturally free of cholesterol and low in saturated fats. That makes soy foods more heart-healthy sources of protein than animal products. The Cleveland Clinic says substituting soy foods for animal-based proteins a few times per week can reduce a person’s risk for cardiovascular disease. Soy foods also can be a great source of dietary fiber, though the U.S. Soybean Export Council advises consumers that not all soy products are the same. The USSEC notes that foods like soy milk and tofu contain very little fiber. People who want to utilize soy beans as a source of dietary fiber should look to foods that utilize the whole bean, such tempeh, soy flour and textured soy protein. The USSEC also notes there’s some confusion in regard to the connection between soy foods and iron, though the group admits research is ongoing. While a 1/2 cup serving of cooked soybeans contains four milligrams of iron, the phytate and soy protein present in soy foods reduce iron absorption, meaning that the body won’t really benefit from the iron. However, the USSEC recommends consumers purchase fermented soy foods, including tempeh and miso, because the body might absorb more iron from these foods than it will when consuming other types soy foods. Discover The Human Touch In Hearing Technology

TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.

CBD Oil Can Interfere With Other Medications

Lakeville 3513 Thomas Dr., Suite 2 Henrietta

---

20 Finn Road, Suite C

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 49-year-old woman who had a massive heart attack in April. My father died of a massive heart attack at 49. I have four stents in three arteries and am on Brilinta, low-dose aspirin, blood pressure medication, etc. I have essential tremor, first noticing the tremors in middle school. The tremor is in my hands, making writing nearly impossible, and I have head bobs. I have an internal tremor that never stops. A previous practitioner prescribed a month’s trial of beta blockers several years ago. I noticed no relief with the tremor but was physically ill for the first 30 minutes of the morning in the first two weeks. Recently, I found an online blog regarding essential tremor and CBD oil. Nearly all of the bloggers found some level of relief using this treatment. If I choose to try CBD oil to assist with my tremor, is there a risk of it interfering with my heart and blood pressure medications? -- M.M. ANSWER: Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a nonpsychoactive substance found in Cannabis, as opposed to tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the best-known psychoactive component. CBD is typically sold as an oil and has been receiving press as a potential treatment for a wide variety of medical issues. Many or most of these claims have no data to support them. Anecdotal reports, such as most blogs, are neither reliable nor scientific (and may or may not be true). There also is an issue with proving the dosage and purity of products said to contain CBD. However, in the case of essential tremor, there is some evidence: Studies in mice have shown benefit with CBD, although a single case report showed effectiveness of THC but not CBD in essential tremor. The issue of drug interactions is a significant one. CBD inhibits two powerful pathways the body uses to detoxify drugs, the CPY3A4 and CYP2D6 systems. This is a serious issue for you. Ticagrelor (Brilinta), an anticoagulant, is metabolized by CYP3A4, as are some of the statin drugs usually prescribed to people with heart blockages. The effect of the anticoagulant could be much higher than expected, leading to bleeding risk. Other commonly used heart medications are metabolized by CYP2D6, and the effect on these medications is unpredictable. I can’t recommend CBD products given the medications you are taking, but would suggest you consider alternative treatments. You may have read about deep brain stimulation and ultrasound, two powerful and effective treatments for people whose symptoms have not responded to standard treatments.

Caring for you and the community since 2001.

LONG-DISTANCE CAREGIVING (NAPSI)—Chances are, at some point you will be a caregiver to a friend or family member. Providing care and support can be challenging in any circumstance, but caring for a loved one who lives far away presents a unique set of challenges. When providing care for loved ones who do not live nearby, keep the following three tips in mind. Plan ahead. Learn your loved one’s medical wishes, contact information for doctors as well as important financial and insurance information. Research community options. Many older adults need a little help to stay healthy and independent. Area Agencies on Aging and other communitybased organizations can connect caregivers to programs that help with transportation, personal care services, nutrition, home modification and repairs, legal services, falls prevention programs and more. Care for yourself. The Eldercare Locator can connect caregivers to local resources that can help, including caregiver support programs that can provide training, and support groups and other resources that help caregivers better support their loved ones—and themselves. The Eldercare Locator can help both care recipients and their longdistance caregivers. Through its website, www.eldercare.acl.gov, and national Call Center at (800) 677-1116, the Eldercare Locator connects long-distance caregivers to resources that can provide assistance where it is needed most—in the care recipient’s own community. The Eldercare Locator is funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living and is administered by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.

DEAR DR. ROACH: This question is for my husband. How safe is drinking tea while on warfarin? He has his INR checked monthly, and for the most part it stays between 2 and 3. He watches his vitamin K intake regularly. He has read conflicting stories of how tea interacts with warfarin by making the INR levels high. -- S.J. ANSWER: Tea comes in two major types: black tea, which is fermented, and green tea, which is not. Black tea has no known interactions with warfarin (Coumadin). Green tea contains small amounts of vitamin K, which could make the INR lower and the warfarin less effective. However, the effect is likely to be small. Further, if he drinks a consistent amount per day, his dose can be adjusted to reflect his vitamin K intake. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual letters, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Preowned Items Can Be Good For The Environment Visit consignment stores: Consignment shops and Goodwill(R) stores are popular places to buy preowned items. These stores take donations or offer items for sale on consignment, which means once sold the person who provided the item gets a portion of the sale. When browsing the racks of these stores, it’s possible to discover highend items mixed in with less expensive items. Shoppers may find designer handbags and clothing for much less than they would sell at retail, especially if the pieces are one or two seasons old. Relying on these stores to supplement classic wardrobe pieces is cost-effective and beneficial to the environment. If you regularly shop consignment stores, you can develop a rapport with the shopkeeper, who may alert you when new items are available.

CREATIVE WAYS FOR SMALL TOWN RESIDENTS TO GIVE BACK Giving back to one’s community is a great way for men and women to make use of their talents and foster strong towns and cities. Volunteering opportunities abound in big cities, but small town residents may not have as many options as they look for ways to give back.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS David M. DiPasquale Commissioner (585) 243-7092

Small town residents looking to give back may need to create their own opportunities if the options available to them do not suit their fancies. Contact local schools. Teachers, afterschool caregivers and coaches can always use some helping hands. Contact local schools to determine if there is any way to help out. Prospective volunteers might be able to read to young children, serve as assistant coaches for youngsters’ sports teams or even help tend to playing fields. Small town school budgets tend to be stretched thin, so chances are local educators will welcome citizens looking to pitch in with open arms. Start a program through your place of employment. Another way for small town residents to give back to their communities is to begin a mentoring or internship program through their places of employment. Once their employers give the go-ahead, men and women can begin working with local high schools and/or colleges to develop programs that encourage youngsters to gain professional experience that can benefit them as they apply to college or graduate school or prepare to begin their own careers. Start a volunteering group. Small town residents without much access to volunteering programs can organize groups through their offices or neighborhoods. Organize groups willing to pitch in with charities such as Habitat for Humanity®. Group leaders can arrange transportation to work sites for members of the group while working as liaisons between their community groups and the organizations they choose to work with. Work with area hospitals. Similar to school districts, many hospitals would struggle to meet their missions of providing compassionate care if not for the contributions of volunteers. Contact area hospitals to learn about volunteering. Some may need volunteers to read to sick children, while others may need help keeping elderly patients company. Small town residents may not have a wealth of volunteering opportunities at their disposal. But with a little creativity, such men and women can still give back to their communities.

HOBBIES FOR DIFFERENT PERSONALITY TYPES Men and women who have experienced great success in the world of business can pursue a host of low-stress opportunities with a goal of sharing their experiences with the next generation of business leaders. Teaching a course at a local college or university is one such avenue, and executives can even offer to work with high school students interested in pursuing careers in business. Teaching and mentoring might be less traditional hobbies than crocheting or woodworking, but they still provide a way for adults to pursue their passions away from the constraints of the office.

Health screenings men should discuss with their physicians

Routine doctor visits are a vital component of a healthy lifestyle. As noted by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, even men who feel healthy and live active lifestyles must make routine visits to their healthcare providers. Such visits can assess risk for future medical problems and offer men the opportunity to update vaccinations. Routine health checkups also give doctors a chance to screen for medical issues. Doctors consider a man’s age and other risk factors to determine when and how frequently he will need certain medical screenings. For example, while men between the ages of 40 and 64 are often advised to get blood pressure screenings at least once per year, those with diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems, and other conditions may need more frequent screenings. No two men have the same medical histories, which only highlights the need for men of all ages to schedule annual physical exams with their physicians. Such exams can reveal potential problems and also make for great opportunities to discuss more specific medical screenings with their physicians. The following are some general screening tests and guidelines recommended for all men between the ages of 40 and 64, courtesy of the USNLM. Prostate cancer - The USNLM notes that most men age 50 or older should discuss screening for prostate cancer with their physicians. Ethnicity and family history are some of the recognized risk factors for prostate cancer. As a result, African American men and men with a family history of prostate cancer in a first degree relative younger than 65 should discuss screenings beginning at age 45. There are pros and cons to prostate cancer screenings, and these should be part of men’s discussions with their physicians. Colorectal cancer - All men between the ages of 50 and 75 should be screened for colorectal cancer. Physicians may recommend colorectal screening for men under age 50 with a family history of colon cancer or polyps. In addition, physicians may consider screenings for men under 50 who have a history of inflammatory bowel disease. Cholesterol - The USNLM advises men to have their cholesterol levels checked every five years. Men with certain conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, may need to be checked more often. Diabetes - Diabetes screenings are recommended every three years for men age 45 and older. Men who are overweight and younger than 45 should ask their physicians if they should be screened before they reach 45. Osteoporosis - Women are more likely to develop osteoporosis than men, but that doesn’t mean men are immune to this condition marked by a weakening of the bones due to tissue loss. Fractures after age 50, heavy alcohol use, smoking, and low body weight are some risk factors that can make men vulnerable to osteoporosis. Health screenings can catch diseases and other conditions in their early stages when they’re most treatable. Such screenings should be a vital part of men’s health routines.

A Look Back… MOMENTS IN TIME The History Channel * On Sept. 23, 1969, the trial for eight antiwar activists charged with sparking violent demonstrations at the August 1968 Democratic National Convention opens in Chicago. Most were convicted on criminal charges or contempt of court, but none served time after convictions eventually were overturned on appeal or charges dropped. * On Sept. 24, 1941, the Japanese consul in Hawaii is instructed to divide Pearl Harbor into five zones and calculate the number of battleships in each zone. The United States had intercepted the message, but it was dismissed a month later as being of no great consequence. * On Sept. 27, 1540, in Rome, the Society of Jesus -- a Roman Catholic missionary organization -- receives its charter from Pope Paul III. The Jesuit order succeeded in converting millions around the world to Catholicism.

HOST A SPORTS VIEWING PARTY TO REMEMBER Hundreds of millions of people across the globe enjoy sports, and many are fond of gathering with fellow fans to watch their favorite teams play, whether in-person or on television. Viewing parties are a great way to watch the big game with fellow fans, and such gatherings don’t have to require all that much effort on the part of hosts. Make it a potluck affair. Potluck affairs make perfect sense for sports viewing parties, so don’t be surprised if guests offer to whip up some homemade guacamole or a buffet-style dish for the big party. Encourage this, asking guests to share what they’re bringing with other invitees so there are no duplicate offerings. Vary the food and beverage menu. Chicken wings and beer might seem like go-to foods and beverages for the big game, but even sports bars are increasingly recognizing sports fans’ desire for healthy foods. It’s still acceptable to serve staples like wings, nachos, chips, and pretzels, but try to provide some healthy fare like celery and salad as well. Even wholegrain pretzels might be more enticing to guests watching what they eat. In addition, provide alternatives to alcohol, such as water, soda and juice, for guests who are abstaining. Upgrade your television. Projection screens are go-to options for many avid sports fans, But projectors and screens may stretch some sports fans’ budgets. A 4K ultra-HD television can be an affordable option depending on the size of the television, and such devices provide incredibly crisp pictures that can make sports fans feel as though they’re inside the stadium cheering on their favorite players. Purchase a sound system. Today’s televisions are sleek and thin. While that saves space and provides more aesthetic appeal than the bulky televisions of yesteryear, thin designs leave little room for sound tech. As a result, it can be hard to hear what’s going on in the game without a sound system. Sound systems are relatively inexpensive; just make sure to purchase one that is compatible with your television. Sports viewing parties tend to be easygoing affairs that don’t require the level of planning of more formal gatherings.

I cherish the loneliness of autumn.... I am forty, I have become mortal. I have no further psychic, emotional, or intellectual need to prolong summer seasons, and it is only when autumn begins its play that I can truly focus on the rich and vital life I am living. All of a sudden I grow alert. October is a hallelujah! reverberating in my body year-round.... The air is dusty, it smells of dry pine needles; yet I sense imminent ice in the clear blue sky.... How I appreciate everything…fully! After all, tomorrow this reprieve will be buried by blizzards, crushed under slabs of doomsday ice. I cannot waste a minute indoors! I must take advantage of this gift, wedged so tentatively between summer’s hectic somnolence and winter’s harsh apogee.... Each perfect day, I know, is going to be the last beautiful day of autumn. ~John Nichols (b.1940), The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn

Brush has laid on the lawn for over 1 week, killing the grass, but if it’s put out late, the police give you warnings about fines. Poor service and high taxes. Your complaint is that a lawn was being mowed in the late evening, when you had seen the resident’s car in the driveway all day. This is just to make you aware that some people work from home. Just because their car is in their driveway doesn’t

Page 28

mean that they have the whole day to tend to yard work. Furthermore, some people work from home during the day and then work 40 minutes from home in the evening. So, it is very difficult to find time to mow the lawn during “acceptable” times. My town has a noise ordinance that does not begin until 11pm; therefore, mowing the lawn at 9:30pm is within those guidelines. Please consider other possible situations before ranting to the public, or perhaps approach that neighbor to share your concern. They may be able to explain.

DID YOU KNOW? Thought they might be most often associated with dogs, ticks can affect cats as well. According to Blue Cross for Pets, cats are most likely to encounter ticks if they live near areas with lots of deer and sheep or in regions where other wildlife, such as hedgehogs and rabbits, are present. While ticks are active throughout the year, cats are most likely to encounter them between spring and autumn. That’s due in part to the climate during these seasons, which tends to be warmer and therefore more inviting to cats, compelling them to spend more time outdoors than they do in winter. Ticks, which are egg-shaped, are big enough to spot, so cat owners should conduct a careful examination of their cats’ fur each time they come into the house after spending time in the yard. Blue Cross for Pets notes that ticks feel like small bumps on a cat’s skin. Ticks are most likely to attach themselves to particular areas of a cat’s body. These areas include the head, neck, ears, and feet. Routine brushing, especially whenever cats come inside after time spent outdoors, can help cat owners spot and remove ticks from their cats. It’s important to recognize that indoor cats are not invulnerable to ticks, as other pets and humans can track ticks indoors. Periodic inspections and brushing of indoor cats’ can protect them from ticks and the diseases ticks carry.

Is not this a true autumn day? Just the still melancholy that I love — that makes life and nature harmonize. The birds are consulting about their migrations, the trees are putting on the hectic or the pallid hues of decay, and begin to strew the ground, that one’s very footsteps may not disturb the repose of earth and air, while they give us a scent that is a pefect anodyne to the restless spirit. Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

M&R Automotive Service EMPLOYMENT: THE NEXT STEP AFTER GRADUATION Focus on a career path. Prospective employers prefer that applicants have some certainty regarding the types of jobs they are looking for. Take a career assessment test or work with a career counselor to narrow down the fields and positions that speak to you. Avoid the “I’m willing to do or learn anything” approach to job applications. Employers may see that as desperation.
