CUPID AND EROS TIED TO LOVE One of the most common images associated with Valentine’s Day is that of a young cherub with bow in hand ready to aim an arrow at an unsuspecting sweetheart. This winged perpetrator of matchmaking mischief has become as much a part of Valentine’s Day celebrations as chocolate, flowers and other gifts. The instigator of romantic love goes by two different names, having ties to both ancient Greeks and Romans. This archery expert was known as Cupid by the ancient Romans and as Eros to the ancient Greeks and was the god of love. Eros’/Cupid’s family tree can be confusing. Some Greek mythology experts say Eros was the son of Nyx and Erebus, others Aphrodite and Aries. The Roman Cupid is believed to be the son of Venus and Mars, the goddess of love and god of war, respectively. Armed with a bow and quiver filled with golden arrows, Eros/Cupid took aim at both mortals and gods. Ancient poetry once portrayed Eros as a handsome immortal who was irresistible to both man and gods. But some time later he was increasingly described as a playful, mischievous child. Cupid was not a major character in mythology, but through time the playful child persona became linked to Valentine’s Day, helping to give Cupid/Eros a more noticeable presence. In the Middle Ages, Eros/Cupid continued to be a popular figure in art. Multiple winged archers, known as “amores or amorini” to Romans and “erotes” to Greeks, can be seen in many paintings of the period. In modern art, many people experienced difficulty distinguishing if the winged child was Cupid himself from mythology or the “putto,” a secular figure in a work of art depicted as a chubby male child, usually naked and sometimes winged. Nowadays, the terms “cupid,” “cherub” and “putto” are often used interchangeably to describe the image of a pudgy, winged child.

Snow tires a w orthy investment
“Solar-control films can block as much as 80 percent of the solar heat coming through glass into a building, decrease the heat load on the air-conditioning system and reduce energy costs,” Smith says.
Automotive experts say that snow tires are a w orthy investment that improve maneuverability and stopping pow er on w inter roads. With more people working and studying from home, window film allows in abundant natural sunlight while blocking 99 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays to better protect the skin (from possible cancer) and eyes (from cataract development), while reducing the fading of floors and furnishings. Smith estimates that 40 to 60 percent of color fading is caused by UV exposure. Windows may also be upgraded for safety, as window film helps to hold glass pieces together if the window is impacted and broken.

GRILLED CALIFORNIA SWEET POTATOES (NAPSI)—The next time you’re firing up the outdoor grill (or indoor grill pan, for that matter), throw on a sweet potato or two. An easy, healthy side dish with a huge wow factor, grilled sweet potatoes are nutrient rich, high in fiber and absolutely delicious. And they go great with burgers, steaks, chops, chicken or pretty much anything off the grill.
PAW’S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta
Nuisance Critters Worry Rural Newcomer DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I am relocating soon to rural Tennessee, in an area that the real estate agent said is filled with critters like raccoons, opossums, woodchucks, foxes, coyotes, muskrats, mink, snapping turtles, venomous snakes, crows, free roaming hogs, stray dogs and cats. My question is, What are the regulations for dealing with nuisance critters? Are there any restrictions I need to be aware of? I’m not computer literate and don’t know how to look these up online. -- Karl B., via email DEAR KARL: I’m more of a pet-care specialist than a wildlife specialist, but I looked up some information for you. Tennessee allows landowners to capture nuisance wildlife and either release or euthanize the animal -- unless it’s a protected species. You must use a box trap or other live trap. You can hire a professional to do the trapping for you. And you can call a state wildlife management official for advice, especially if you aren’t sure whether an animal is protected. To learn more, perhaps someone who is computer savvy can access the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website for you and search for “wildlife damage control.” I do hope you’ll relocate rather than eliminate most of the species that you trap. Opossums are becoming endangered, and they’re not ferocious at all; they eat ticks and are immune to Lyme disease. Bats are a threatened species that love to roost in dark, quiet attics. But they also eat tons of mosquitos. We really need these little natural vacuum cleaners around. Snakes keep the rodent population down. Coyotes and bears play their role in balancing the natural environment, even though they are quite scary to discover near your house.

Grilled Sweet Potatoes Serves 3 or 4 1 lb orange- or yellow/white-fleshed sweet potatoes, cut lengthwise into ¾-inch wedges 1 ½ Tbsp olive oil 1 tsp salt, plus more for sprinkling Heat a grill or grill pan to mediumhigh. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine sweet potatoes, oil and salt. Arrange sweet potatoes on the grill or grill pan and cook until lightly charred and tender, 6 to 8 minutes, turning halfway through. Sprinkle with more salt and serve. For more recipes, nutritional information and tips for cooking with California sweetpotatoes, go to www.casweetpotatoes.com.

Refresh Your Home for Spring Get rid of grime A whole season’s worth of dirt and dust accumulates during the cold winter months. A deep clean inside and out can restore your home to its former glory. Inside, take time to launder all of your linens, including curtains, rugs and bedding. Move furniture to vacuum behind and below, and don’t overlook dust and dirt magnets like mirrors, light fixtures and the insides of cabinets, especially higher shelves that see infrequent use. Outdoors, hose off or power-wash surfaces like windows, siding, decks and concrete to restore a crisp, clean appearance.

WHAT TO DO WHEN A PROJECT STALLS Honestly assess whether or not you can finish the job. Do-it-yourselfers may have the abilities to complete a project, but they should not let their pride get in the way of their ultimate goal, which is the completion of the project. In addition to money, time or lack thereof, is often the culprit behind stalled projects. Homeowners with full-time jobs, families or both may not be able to find the time to complete a job in a timely fashion. If the project has been stuck in neutral and no sudden windfall of free time is on the horizon, start contacting contractors to finish the job for you.

* “For grease stains on fabric, I don’t reach any further than my kitchen sink. I saturate it with dishwashing liquid and throw it in the washer. it works better than any stain stick.” -- W.D. in Pennsylvania * “Everyone knows probably five uses for pantyhose with runs in them. Here’s one I heard from a friend that I had never heard before. Scrunch one leg up and use it like a dusting mitt on upholstered furniture to get rid of cat hair. I guess it would work for all pet hair, but I do this every day now, and it’s so easy.” -- G.T. in Washington

* If you have a stinky sink problem, check your garbage disposal. The plastic insert in the drain will usually pull out to give you a better look. Sometimes, all that is needed is to clean the plastic insert -- it can collect a nasty food slime on the disposal-facing side. You can also try running it for a few minutes with ice cubes, citrus peels or baking soda and vinegar. * If you have many books on a bookcase, here’s a tip that’ll blow you away: Use a hair dryer on the cool setting to blow dust off the top of the books. Work from the top down, wipe the visible shelf with a microfiber cloth, then vacuum the floor.

TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE AND CONNECTED DURING A MOVE
Vice President
................... Kimberly Dougherty
(NAPSI) — Planning a move can be stressful, but planning a move in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic brings a new set of challenges. Stay safe and connected with some smart pre-move planning; here are some tips:
Controller
Follow Approved Protocols — If you can’t postpone your move, take extra precautions before moving in to ensure your new place is clean. Follow general disinfecting guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Among other surfaces, disinfect doors, door handles, bathrooms, kitchen appliances, countertops and—something many people don’t really think about—cabinet and doorknobs as well as light switches.
........................Kathy Hammond Advertising Sales Manager
Safely Stay Connected — New work-from-home protocols and online schooling mean reliable Internet connectivity is more important than ever. Prior to your move, SmartMove can connect you to your local provider and help arrange new Touchless Installs that let you safely connect your tech services yourself. Cable companies deliver equipment with step-by-step activation information so you can set up your system on your own, or with support over the phone, online, through chat functionality or video tutorials. In most cases, no technician will need to enter your home.
...........................Manuel Karam Creative Director
.............................. Cristie Leone
Keep in Touch & Maintain Daily Routines — You may be staying in more, but don’t forget to take a break from unpacking boxes. Use your new online connection to find delivery services to help stock your pantry and fridge and refill prescriptions. Your new house will feel more like home if you take time to watch your favorite shows, maintain your exercise program or explore online courses that can help you discover new talents or resume old hobbies. Don’t forget to connect with friends through group video chats or viewing parties—you can even take your friends and family on a virtual tour of your new place!

Shopping locally is a great w ay to benefit your community and, in many instances, your bottom line. W hen consumers shop locally, they help stimulate their local economies, creating jobs for their neighbors by helping local businesses grow and thrive. Shopping locally also saves shoppers long trips to the mall that can w aste expensive fuel, especially if consumers don’t find w hat they’re looking for. Shopping locally is especially important w hen the economy is struggling, as smaller businesses are not alw ays as capable of bearing the brunt of a recession as larger ones.

SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles Getting the COVID Vaccine When can we get our COVID vaccine? Seniors everywhere are asking this question, and the answers are often vague, wrong or nonexistent. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, the vaccines will be given first to health care workers, then “frontline essential workers,” seniors in descending order of age and those with high-risk medical conditions. While getting the vaccine to health care workers hasn’t been much of a problem, scheduling seniors has been more problematic. One of the snags has been with distribution. States often don’t know how many doses they’re going to receive, which has made it difficult to schedule people to be at the vaccine site at a certain time on a certain date. A more serious problem came to light when batches of vaccine sent to various states were found to be defective because they hadn’t been kept at the right temperature along their journey from manufacturing to vaccination site. In one state, for example, out of 50 boxes of vials, 35 were found to be defective. All over the country websites have crashed as people have tried to sign up for the vaccine in their area, and many seniors have found the computer program impossible to use. Do you know how to get on the list to receive your vaccine? Do you know what group in your state is currently allowed to receive the vaccine, or what priority group you’re in? Each state has been allowed to decide what its definitions is for seniors -- over 75, over 70 or over 65. Your best bet is to contact your doctor’s office. Ask if they have a wait list or can tell you specifically what steps you should take. Call the hospital and your pharmacy. Call your state’s health department. This is one time where you need to be proactive if you want the vaccine.
This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

Fairport Lift Grant Program Expanded BY MARTHA MALONE
T
he Village of Fairport Local Development Corporation LIFT Grant Program has been expanded to provide cash assistance to Village Retail and Restaurant businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The LIFT grant program was introduced in August 2020 to provide reimbursement for purchase of COVID related supplies, services, and renovations to enable businesses to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions. With this program expansion, Village Retailers or Restaurants that are forced to close due to required quarantine and isolation orders may be eligible for $100/day up to a maximum of $1,000, for each normal scheduled business day that the business is closed due to the quarantine/isolation order. Additionally, the LIFT grant program will also provide up to $1,000 to offset the higher costs of takeout supplies and third-party delivery fees incurred by Village Restaurants.
“We recognize the important role that our businesses play in making the Village of Fairport a unique destination for shopping, dining and entertainment,” said Kevin Clark, FLDC Board Chair. “This expansion will help our especially hard-hit Village retailers and restaurants as they adapt to these ongoing challenges. The LIFT Grant program underscores our commitment to ensuring the future of Village of Fairport as a diverse and vibrant business district for residents and visitors alike.” Additional information and applications can be found on the OCED website at www.fairportoced.org
Wood Library Association Reimagines Services in Canandaigua BY MARIA BUCCI
T
he Wood Library Association held its annual meeting on Monday, January 25, 2021. Three trustees were unanimously re-elected to serve three-year terms: Deborah Gregory of Rileys Run, Suzanne O’Connor of Lakeview Ln. and Heather Whiting of Bristol St. The Association’s officers for 2021 are: Jill Werth, President; Leslie Mast, Vice President; Suzanne O’Connor, Treasurer; and Kathy Shay, Secretary. Erin VanDamme will serve as the at-large representative on the Library Board’s Executive Committee. In addition, the Association welcomed new Trustees who were appointed to fill vacancies on the Board: Jill Ehrlinger of Meadowbrook Ln, David Plante of Opal Dr, and Andy Thomas of Silvernail Dr. Outgoing President Laurie Riedman presented a report that included many heartfelt references to the teamwork exhibited by trustees and staff to manage and overcome obstacles in a year marked by pandemic and uncertainty. “Gratitude and agility are words that come to mind as I reflect on the past year,” stated Riedman in a presentation that took place virtually. “We had to act quickly to discuss and approve policies and a contingency budget, plan for the safe reopening of the library, and adopt new practices,” stated Riedman. “Although our building was forced to close for a period of time, the library was ‘open for business’ offering digital library cards and free WiFi. We invested in more ebooks and downloadable audiobooks, and migrated hundreds of programs to online platforms that attracted thousands of participants.” “We established curbside service which continues today, and secured funding for the necessary PPE and supplies so that staff could return to work and welcome patrons back to the building safely.” She
continued, “I am grateful for the staff ’s ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to learn new skills and reach out to community partners so that people in our community could continue to access the lifeenriching and life-sustaining services offered by Wood Library.” Riedman noted the importance of continued community support for Wood Library, “There was much uncertainty surrounding the vote for community-based funding this past Spring. Yet, with more than 18,000 absentee ballots mailed to qualified voters, 71% approved of an increase in library funding.” She continued, “Our donors stepped up too. Despite tough economic times for everyone, our fundraising goals were met and gifts to the library surpassed every expectation.” Riedman noted that this would be her last report as President of the Wood Library Board of Trustees: “I feel tremendous pride in the work we have accomplished together. It has been an honor to serve an organization that gives so much to our community.” Wood Library is a full-service community library and registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving everyone who resides in the Canandaigua City School District. Its mission is to provide exceptional public library service in a comfortable and safe environment where people can satisfy their curiosity, stimulate their imaginations, and connect to the local community and to the world. HINTS TO HELP YOU PROTECT YOUR KIDS IN THE CAR (NAPSI)—Keeping your kids on the road to safety when in and around a car can be easier if you take these steps: What You Can Do First, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), you should look for a car with these vehicle safety features: • Rear-view cameras • Interior trunk release • Side-impact air bags • Advanced frontal air bags • Push-down/pull-up window switches • Automatic door locks. Next, the NHTSA says, you should always remember to: 1. Use a car seat for every trip—even when you’re just going down the street. Select the car seat based on your child’s age and size, and always follow the manufacturer’s directions. Make sure it’s compatible with your vehicle by checking the car seat manufacturer’s instructions.
Puzzle Answers This Week
2. Keep kids in the backseat at least through age 12. 3. Tell children not to play around vehicles. Before getting into a vehicle, check around and behind it, as well as the surrounding area, to ensure no children are present. 4. Buckle and lock any unused seat belts to keep kids from getting tangled up in them.
COMFORT FOODS
5. Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle, no matter how short the stop, or what the weather is, even if the windows are cracked. The car can heat up very quickly in almost all weather conditions. Even with moderate outside temperatures in the mid-60s, a vehicle’s interior can quickly heat up to more than 110° F. In addition, if the ignition is on or the keys are in the ignition, children can accidentally cause the vehicle to roll or even drive away. What Can Help To prevent precious cargo from being left in cars, one company has come up with an ingenious Rear Door Alert (RDA) technology. An industry first, the system was developed by two mothers who are also engineers at Nissan. It monitors when the rear door is opened and closed before and after the vehicle is in motion. The system responds with a series of notifications if a rear door was used prior to a trip but was not reopened after the trip. Once the vehicle is in park and the ignition is turned off, the system will first display a notification in the instrument panel and progresses to distinctive chirps of the horn to remind drivers to check the backseat. Nissan’s RDA is easy to configure and can be temporarily or permanently turned off through a menu in the cluster display. Already available in the Nissan Pathfinder, for model year 2019, RDA will be standard equipment on eight other Nissan cars, including the best-selling Rogue and the all-new Altima. By model year 2022, it will be standard on all the company’s four-door trucks, sedans and SUVs. Learn More: For further information, go to www.NissanUSA.com and www.NHTSA.gov. UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA Dementia presents itself through various symptoms, and memory loss alone is not enough to lead to a dementia diagnosis. Dementia can affect thinking and social abilities, but the Mayo Clinic notes that some dementias may be reversible. The following are some common symptoms of dementia: • Trouble communicating or finding words. • Difficulty completing complex tasks. • Challenges with planning and organization. • Episodes of confusion and disorientation. • Memory loss, which is often noticed by a third party. • Personality changes that can include agitation, anxiety, inappropriate behavior and even hallucinations. Apart from Alzheimer’s disease, which is a progressive disorder most common in people age 65 and older, there are other types of dementia. The second most common is called “vascular dementia.” This results from damage to vessels that supply blood to the brain. This damage can be the result of stroke, smoking and other blood vessel conditions. Brain imaging can often detect blood vessel problems implicated in vascular dementia. Dementia with Lewy bodies, or DLB, is another dementia that laymen may mistake for Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association notes that people with DLB often have not only memory loss and cognitive problems common in Alzheimer’s, but they also display initial or early symptoms such as sleep disturbances, well-formed visual hallucinations, slowness, gait imbalance or other Parkinsonian movement features, which can lead to misdiagnosis. of balance is located, so vestibular symptoms relate to balance issues in general, but most commonly, it means vertigo. The term “vestibular migraine” means vestibular symptoms attributed to migraine. Vestibular migraine thus includes migraine headache -- not everyone will have a headache with every episode, but most people with vestibular migraine will have headache with at least some of the episodes -- and vestibular symptoms. These could include vertigo (a sensation of movement when still), unsteadiness or movement symptoms with a change in head position that persists long after the head has moved. Abnormal sensitivity to sound and vision are also prominent in vestibular migraine. There is a similarly named condition, basilar migraine, that also has vestibular symptoms. However, basilar migraine has additional symptoms seen during the early, or aura, phase coming from the brainstem, deep in the brain, such as clumsy movements or confusion. These occur most commonly five minutes to an hour before the headache. Making the diagnosis of vestibular migraine is challenging, since there are many clinical entities with similar symptoms. There is no conclusive laboratory or radiology tests to confirm the diagnosis. In practice, the diagnosis of probable vestibular migraine is made in people with recurrent migraine symptoms associated with vertigo. Often, treatment is begun when the condition is considered probable, and if the person does not respond well to treatment, a more thorough evaluation is considered. Treatment for vestibular migraine is broken down into treatment for acute attacks and treatment to prevent attacks. Many neurologists use diazepam (Valium) and similar drugs for acute attacks. Preventive medicines come in many different families, and the choice of the best agent depends often on other conditions the person has. Everyone with migraine should try to find and avoid triggers. This includes eating on a reasonable schedule and good sleep hygiene. If medications are needed, prescription choices include blood pressure medicines (beta blockers like propranolol and calcium channel blockers), antidepressants and seizure medicines. Over-the-counter options include riboflavin, magnesium, feverfew and coenzyme Q10, all of which have some but not conclusive evidence of benefit superior to placebo. ***

Another type of transplant has been changing lives in incredible new ways—the transplantation of hands and faces. More than 100 people worldwide have received these types of transplants: a veteran who lost his limbs in war, a woman whose face was devastated in an attack, a child who lost his hands to severe infection. All have had their lives transformed. These procedures are called “Vascularized Composite Allograft” organ transplants, or VCA transplants. They are composed of multiple types of tissue. With a hand transplant, for example, bones, blood vessels, nerves and skin must all be attached to the remaining arm. So many tissues, however, make VCA transplants extremely complex. The surgery requires the involvement of dozens of surgeons and other medical professionals and can take 16 hours or more. Recovery is also demanding for patients; rehabilitation can be a full-time job for one to two years. Yet, the results are life changing. VCA transplants can restore abilities and independence in ways that artificial limbs and reconstructive surgery cannot. Just consider the difference a working hand with moving fingers and a sense of touch could make. It can mean the ability to take care of oneself, work, drive and play. Face transplants enable recipients to rejoin society, often ending isolation and depression. VCA and traditional organ transplants are the same in some respects. Criteria for matching donors and recipients include the need for compatible blood and tissue types. However, VCA requires matching for additional features such as skin tone, body size and hair color. Gender may also be taken into consideration. A commonly asked question about face transplants is whether the recipient will look like the donor. The answer is yes and no. Yes, skin characteristics such as moles, freckles and scars will transfer to the recipient. However, because the recipient’s underlying bone structure is apt to be different from the donor’s, resemblance will likely be minimal. Like with kidneys, livers and other organs, there is a national waiting list for VCA transplants that matches donors with potential recipients. However, enrolling as an organ donor on a state or national registry does not mean you’re authorizing VCA donation. Your family would make the decision about VCA donation after your death. Thank you, COVID testers! I just went to get a coronavirus test at MCC and was very impressed by the improvements that have been made since I was last there in July. The line moved quickly without any bottlenecks, and the workers were all organized and friendly despite the frigid temperatures. Thank you to everyone out there during the weekend, in the cold, doing their part to put an end to this pandemic. You are appreciated!
Rules of the Road I realize that the moment folks’ step inside local stores, they forget right from left, right of way, and all other common sense, but if you are standing at a closed checkout, removing items from your cart, and abandoning them in a pile because you’re too lazy to put them back yourself, you are not in line. Those of us who are ready to check out don’t want to wait for you to waste our time. You should have let the other shopper go first, since you were clearly not in line. Seriously, stop talking on cell phones, stop having conversations in the middle of the aisles, stop leaving your carts in other peoples’ way, and get it together before you get to a checkout. It’s pathetic when self-checkout is easier than waiting for you. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

585-310-5117 m www.expertdumpster.com Small Red Truck I was out shoveling the end of my driveway on February 3rd around 9 am. It was the heavy stuff that gets plowed back into the driveway from the town plows. A man in a red pickup with a plow stopped to help by plowing my entire driveway. I do not know who the man was but just want to say thanks again. It was so nice of you to take the time and effort to do this. I really appreciate it and will pay it forward. May good things come your way!
Thanks, Fairport Postal Workers! A huge Thank You to carriers in Fairport who slogged through the extreme volume and weather to deliver the massive quantities of packages in the past several months. All with a smile! And special kudos to the mail staff manning the counters at the Post Office itself--always pleasant, friendly, professional, and informative despite what must have been incredible pressure. Your effort is noticed and appreciated!
Thanks again, Neighbor! Thanks again for my “neighbors” on Brooks Road in West Henrietta for keeping my driveway clear another year. It is nice they take the time to help. Thanks again for all you do, Kitty E.
With Deepest Gratitude! Catholic Charities of Steuben/ Livingston would like to recognize members of our community for stepping up to help a client in need. This family had been living in unsafe and unhealthy living conditions for a while. Over the course of 4 months, Catholic Charities worked with our partners in Livingston County to renovate a trailer for this family to live in. These businesses and individuals donated their time and materials to get the trailer in top shape. This includes roofing, flooring, cabinets, appliances,
Grocery Store Angel Thank you, God, and to the nice lady at the grocery store. I had trouble swiping my card. I tried at least four times, and it would not work. This wonderful woman paid for my groceries. Thank you so much! God Bless You!
Where’s the Justice? Why is the Town of [local town] still holding a pet from her family after almost 8 months? Why has she been purposely neglected while incarcerated: hosed down, not taken out of her kennel, kept from her meds? Is it breed bias? Politics? We all know it’s not because she’s guilty; that’s been proven, proven by a professional and the inconsistent stories of the plaintiff. Do you understand the mental and physical torture you’re putting this living being through? We want justice for Vanessa the dog. She needs to be freed and back with her family where she belongs! To the people involved: you know what you’re doing is wrong.

Iroquois Nation To the person who praises the Iroquois Nation example as the precursor of the Constitution, you don’t know American history. Of the 6 tribes, all but 2 allied themselves with the British Empire during the American Revolution. Joseph Brant, a Mohawk, led raids on the American settlers, brutally killing civilians, even loyalists like Jane McCrea. These settlers, including children, were tomahawked, burned alive, and scalped. the scalp of Jane McCrea was presented to British General John Burgoyne who authorized these raids. The America you now live in and enjoy, as well as our Constitution, exist despite the Iroquois Nation, not because of it.

Nursing is one of the fastest-growing and longest-running occupations in the United States and Canada. The New England Hospital for Women and Children, established in 1862, was the first nursing school in the United States. The first formal nursing training program in Canada was established in 1874 at the General and Marine Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario. The American Nurses Association was started in 1898. The Canadian Nurses’ Association, formerly the Canadian National Association of Trained Nurses, was developed in 1907. These associations are national professional associations representing the hundreds of thousands of nurses across the country and are instrumental in legislative policy and the influences of health care on nursing professionals today.
