HOMETOWN HOST A SUCCESSFUL YARD SALE Price things reasonably It’s tempting to overprice items, but a good rule of thumb is to mark things for one-half to one-third of the original value. Be open to negotiation, but try to haggle with a “buy one get one” approach, rather than marking down the price considerably. After all, the goal is to get rid of as many items as possible, with financial gain a distant second.

Ways to Become More Active Every Day In addition to working toward at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week, it’s important to avoid being sedentary, when possible. You can do that by making choices that build activity in your day. Some examples include: • Taking the stairs • Printing to the printer farthest away from your desk at work • Getting off the bus or subway one stop early • Parking in the farthest space from the door • Walking around while you are on the phone or having walking meetings

Homemade ‘Foot Box’ Relieves Night Cramps

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a very healthy 74-year-old male. I am not on any medications and enjoy normal blood pressure and great stats from my regular bloodwork. I weigh 140 pounds and have been exercising every day faithfully for decades. A couple of years ago, I started getting cramps in both legs throughout the night. My toes would curl down and my entire leg would get stiff; the pain was horrible. I had a terrible time “walking it off,” and very often when I finally got it to pass, as soon as I got back in bed the whole thing would start all over again. Sometimes I would go a few nights without having a problem, but there was always the fear that I would have another episode. I read online advice to get the weight of the sheet and covers off the feet. I took a strong cardboard box and sleep with my feet in the open end of the box. The first time I got in bed with this rigged up, it felt very strange not having anything on my bare feet, but eventually I got used to it. The remarkable news is that I have not had a single episode since fabricating the box over six months ago. -- G.K. ANSWER: I appreciate your writing in. I have had many patients use a box during sleep for acute gout, where even a sheet on top of the affected toe can be exquisitely painful, but I had not heard this used for nocturnal leg cramps. Some patients have noticed that the symptoms do seem to be started or exacerbated by the weight of blankets. Before resorting to that, I recommend regular exercise, even a few minutes of riding a stationary bicycle before bed can help. Couple that with regular stretching of the calf and hamstring muscles and adequate hydration. Although many readers ask about it, I do not recommend quinine for most people, and it’s quite rare for the cause to be disturbances of sodium, potassium, calcium or other electrolytes. B complex vitamins and magnesium are helpful in some people, but I restrict iron to people with proven iron deficiency. If all else fails, prescription medications such as verapamil may be helpful.

HOW TO MAKE EXISTING WINDOWS MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT Hang curtains. Curtains can help homeowners cut down on heating and cooling costs. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, properly hung draperies can reduce heat loss by as much as 25 percent. In the summer, curtains can block the hot rays from the sun from entering a home, reducing the need to turn up air conditioning units. While curtains won’t fix leaks or block hot or cold air from entering a home, they can serve as a buffer between a home’s inhabitants and the air seeping in through leaks.

PREPARE COOLING SYSTEM S FOR WARM W EATHER KNOW THE SQUARE FOOTAGE. W hen replacing a cooling system, have an understanding of the size of your home (or room if installing an w indow unit). Determine the area of the home so you buy a unit that suits your needs. Air conditioners use BTUs (British Thermal Units) to define cooling pow er. The more BTUs, the larger the space that can be cooled. How ever, homeow ners do not w ant to exceed the necessary cooling pow er. This leads to energy w aste. EnergyStar.gov can help homeow ners find the right cooling system for their needs.

I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable progeny with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation. It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne, Mosses from and Old Manse

WAYS TO REPURPOSE DRESSERS One of the benefits to becoming a skilled do-it-yourselfer is the chance to embrace projects that can breathe new life into objects that others might designate for the trash or donation pile. Renovating such items can save money and provide an entirely different purpose for the object. After upgrading design styles or moving, there’s a good chance the average homeowner has a spare dresser or chest of drawers he or she may no longer use. Repurposing such furniture can make for an enjoyable weekend DIY project. With a change of color, removal of drawers or a few minor modifications, dressers can be transformed in many different ways. Before discarding an old dresser, think of all the ways it can be transformed into another useful piece of furniture.

HOW COUPLES CAN BENEFIT FROM HIRING LOCAL WEDDING VENDORS: Local vendors will be familiar with the area and possibly even the location where the wedding will be held. That can help couples avoid having to give directions, discuss venue protocols, and handle other tasks that must be worked out with non-local vendors. For example, local photographers familiar with a particular venue will know all of the best places to get shots, and some vendors may have preexisting relationships with venue representatives that could ensure wedding day operations go smoothly. SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles Scammers Try New Ways to Trick You How many phone calls did you receive today? Of those, how many were scam calls? So far today I’ve received eight. This is nothing new, but the tricks that scammers use are changing, and we need to be up on all of their tactics to steal our identities and money. The latest scammer craze is something called tele-transformer. This is step one in the scammer bag of tricks before handing you off to the closers who will pull you into a deal. Sometimes the message will leave a call-back number. Or they’ll claim they’re returning your call, or calling because you recently bought one of their products. If you answer, a typical message will say, “This is Kristen with benefits advisers calling on a recorded line. How are you today?” No matter what you say, they launch into their spiel, sometimes about Medicare, sometimes about Social Security, or your mortgage or your student loan, or car insurance, your disability or senior-living home improvement. The range of topics is long. Just hang up. With other types of calls, however, what they’re looking for is “yes.” With that simple word, they can steal your identity and your money. Here’s how it works: The first question they usually ask is “Can you hear me?” What they want is for you to say “yes.” Sometimes the question is “Are you having a good day?” or “Is this X?” if they have your real name. Do not say “Yes”! Once they have a recording of that one word from you, they’re free to do all kinds of things. They can sign you up for a service or send items to you in the mail. They have proof, they claim, that you agreed to those ... because they have your “yes” recorded in your own voice! Just hang up.
This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

TIPS TO HELP MEN LOOK THEIR BEST: Make an effort to reduce stress. Stress produces a host of negative side effects, some of which can indirectly affect appearance. Some people dealing with stress end up suffering from insomnia, which can contribute to bags under the eyes. Stress also can adversely affect hydration of the skin, contributing to dry skin. Stress also can contribute to hormonal imbalances that lead to skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. If stress is a problem, make a concerted effort to reduce it, even working with a physician to reduce stress when necessary.

Welcome, not push Look at all the corruption building throughout this once beautiful county. It is so sad watching the news or reading the papers, so sad looking at what our communities are becoming, so sad seeing all the politics & games. People, we need to all come together! We all have to help one another! We all have to relax! Life's too short for hate & power! Remember, there is "one" God and two life-afterdeath locations. You make the decisions.
S E V RA The Keys to Good Samaritans On April 12, 2021, my wife and I went shopping at Walmart in Geneseo. When we were done shopping and got to the car, we found that we both had left our keys in the car! I called 911, and I told the dispatcher the problem we were in. She was kind to assure us that we would be okay. She told us that she would notify the police and for me to look out for the officer and to signal to him. When the Geneseo officer came, I motioned to him, and he came to us. I told him what happened. He was a true gentleman and calmed my wife down. He then got to work on getting the door to open a little so he could unhinge the lock. He was having some trouble, but another man came and helped him to get the door open. I have nothing but the best regard for the officer and the man who came to give him a hand. A. L. & M. L. Thank you for serving with love! The Hygiene Blessings Bank of the Genesee Valley (HBB) would like to thank all those who support this much-needed ministry for our neighbors in need. Special thanks goes to the incredible, hardworking volunteers from both Grace & Truth Christian Fellowship (near Exit 7) and Faith Fellowship (Lakeville) who faithfully serve the community at HBB events. Special thanks also goes to St. Timothy Lutheran Church (Geneseo,) Tuscarora Presbyterian Church (Tuscarora), Teresa House (Geneseo, and The Original Red Osier Landmark Restaurant (Stafford) for their generous donations of needed supplies. Thank you for putting your Christian love for our community into action! A. D.
Hardworking Teachers In response to Teacher Vacation: Let's try this again. We have been having regular school five days a week. Those are our "normal" working conditions. So we have the regular work load. We are working as we have in the past. In addition (that means extra) we are working with the online students. This is extra from normal; this is more work, not less work. The at-home students need different methods of instructional delivery than the in-person learners. Being the expert in education you must be, you should know that. Science Regents exams are for Earth Science and Living Environment, so your statement about that is false. The determination about Regents exams was not given until recently. Labs are integral to my teaching; they are not extras or add-ons. I have the students learn by doing labs; perhaps you did not have that opportunity. The online "labs" do not meet the requirements of what my students need. I realize your extensive knowledge of what teachers do is probably from getting through school. Believe it or not, there is more to it than that, but you just want to whine about taxes and someone getting something. Campaign Flags I totally agree. It is not cancel culture to ask for campaign materials to be remove as per local ordinance. It's too bad that others don't see that. Freedom of speech Freedom of Speech is still our right given to us by the U.S. Constitution. We need more of this good, common sense thinking in government now. Cancel Culture is ridiculous and against the rights given to us in the U.S. Constitution, as well.

DID YOU KNOW? The planet is comprised of a remarkable set of organisms that, when working correctly, produce some awe-inspiring results. However, the Earth is constantly under attack from a growing population and the mechanisms of man that can have very real environmental impacts. Education is the key to inciting real change. One in four mammals is at risk of extinction, while 78 percent of marine mammals are threatened by an early and preventable death due to getting caught in fishing nets intended for other species. Furthermore, at least 50 million acres of rainforest are lost every year, totaling an area the size of Great Britain, says the organization Solar Energy World. By making real changes, including recycling, cutting down on emissions and protecting wildlife habitats, individuals can help to preserve the world’s resources for many years to come.

THE BENEFITS OF PREPLANNING YOUR FUNERAL Preplanning ensures your wishes are honored. Men and women who formalize their funeral plans will ensure their wishes are honored. That can give men and women peace of mind and will provide peace of mind to the loved ones they leave behind, who can attend funeral services knowing those services are being conducted in adherence to their loved one’s wishes. Even men and women who discuss their wishes for their funerals with loved ones may not have those wishes honored if they are not put in writing.

PAW’S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta
Dog’s First Encounter With Skunk Ends Badly DEAR PAW’S CORNER: We have a big fenced backyard and have no problem letting our dog “Ace” out to roam. However, for the first time, Ace ran into a skunk! Now I’m trying to get rid of that horrible skunk odor, with no luck. What can I use to clean his fur? And how do I keep skunks off my property? -- Suzie H., via email DEAR SUZIE: I agree, skunk encounters are pretty awful. And when a dog gets a good soaking from the skunk’s defensive spray, it can be very tough to get out of its hair. The American Kennel Club’s website (www.akc.org) has some expert advice on getting rid of the skunk smell on dogs. Rule No. 1: Do not bring the dog in the house if you can avoid it. The AKC recommends a homemade solution to break up and remove the odiferous oil that makes up skunk spray: Mix a quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide (available over the counter at the local pharmacy) with two teaspoons of mild dish soap and a quarter cup of baking soda. This mixture will start foaming immediately, so have Ace ready. (Don’t wet down his fur yet.) Rub the foamy solution into his coat, soaking it completely. (Avoid getting into his eyes or ears.) Leave it on for five minutes, then rinse. Discard any unused solution. To keep the skunk from coming back, determine where it’s getting into your yard and when. Skunks raising young like nesting spots like wood or debris piles. Open trash cans or compost piles are attractive foraging spots. Skunks are most active after sundown or in the early morning hours. Ace may be fine in the yard during the day, but you should accompany him on potty breaks before sunrise or after sundown to prevent another stinky encounter.

Organizing a gift auction requires a team of dedicated volunteers. * Enlist a team of gift-wrappers. Presentation may determine bids and increase those bids. Ask for donations of baskets and wrapping materials, such as ribbon and cellophane. Each prize can be wrapped in ways to entice bidders to bid high and bid often.

Support Local Kids with the Pinwheel Passport Challenge and CAC Blend of Hope BY MARISA ENZINNA
A
pril is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes (CACFL) - which facilitates child abuse investigations through a team of community partners in a child-friendly setting, offering support and hope to children and their families - is hosting several initiatives to mark Child Abuse Prevention Month and help raise awareness of child abuse and prevention efforts. Blue pinwheels are internationally recognized as the symbol of child abuse prevention - and
Throughout March, the CACFL sold Pinwheel Garden bouquets. Local supporters purchased more than 90 bouquets of 10 blue pinwheels each with proceeds benefitting the CACFL. These 900-plus blue pinwheels have been “planted” in homes, offices, businesses and Zoom backgrounds throughout our region to serve as a visual reminder of child abuse awareness and prevention. If you see a pinwheel garden bouquet, take a photo and share it on social media to help spread awareness. The CACFL has partnered with Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters to create the CAC Blend of Hope. The medium roast with perfectly balanced aroma, body and acidity is made of a blend of beans from Central America. It is Rainforest Alliance Certified. It is called the CAC Blend of Hope because we at the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes “blend” the talents and skills of our multi-disciplinary team to inspire hope for survivors. WORK AT HOME IN COMFORT AND SAFETY (NAPSI) — According to Darrell Smith, executive director of the International Window Film Association, window film makes a lot of sense for homeowners eager to save money on their energy bills. “Solar-control films can block as much as 80 percent of the solar heat coming through glass into a building, decrease the heat load on the air-conditioning system and reduce energy costs,” Smith says. With more people working and studying from home, window film allows in abundant natural sunlight while blocking 99 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays to better protect the skin (from possible cancer) and eyes (from cataract development), while reducing the fading of floors and furnishings. Smith estimates that 40 to 60 percent of color fading is caused by UV exposure. Windows may also be upgraded for safety, as window film helps to hold glass pieces together if the window is impacted and broken. For even a 3,000 square foot home, window film may be installed in a day or less with minimal disruption. Window film installers clean the glass before installation, keep the work space clean and practice safe contact as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. We want our valued customers to be informed about their water utility. If you want to learn more, please attend any of our regularly scheduled Town Board Meetings. The meetings are held: Town of Farmington: The second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmington Town Hall located at 1000 County Road 8, Farmington, New York. Town of Manchester: The second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Manchester Town Hall located at 1272 County Road 7, Clifton Springs, New York. Village of Manchester: The first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Manchester Village Hall located at 8 Clifton Street, Manchester, New York.
Where Does Our Water Come From? Our water source is surface water source, Canandaigua Lake. The Canandaigua-Farmington Consolidated Water District is supplied from City of Canandaigua. The City of Canandaigua operates a Water Filtration Plant located on West Lake Road in the Town of Canandaigua. After filtration, carbon can also be added for taste and odor control. The water is disinfected by injection of gaseous chlorine, sodium hydroxide is added for pH control to reduce corrosion in the distribution system and then fluoride is added before being pumped to the distribution system. The treated water enters the Canandaigua-Farmington Consolidated Water District through meter pits located at the City of Canandaigua line or at the connection point with the City of Canandaiguaís transmission main. The Canandaigua-Farmington Consolidated Water District supplies treated water from the City of Canandaigua to the Village of Manchester and the Town of Manchester Central District. New York State Department of Health has completed a source water assessment for Canandaigua Lake with the following results: This assessment found a moderate susceptibility to contamination for this source of drinking water. The amount of agricultural lands in the assessment area results in elevated potential for protozoa, phosphorus, DBP precursors, and pesticides contamination. While there are some facilities present, permitted discharges do not likely represent an important threat to source water quality based on their density in the assessment area. However, it appears that the total amount of wastewater discharged to surface water in this assessment area is high enough to further raise the potential for contamination (particularly for protozoa). There is also noteworthy contamination susceptibility associated with other discrete contaminant sources, and these facility types include: IHWS, CBS, landfills, mines, RCRA, and TRI. The sources of drinking water (both tap water and bottled water) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. As water travels over the surface of the land or through the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive material, and can pick up substances resulting from the presence of animals or human activity. Contaminants that may be present in source water include: • Microbial contaminants • Inorganic contaminants • Pesticides and herbicides • Organic chemical contaminants • Radioactive contaminants
Facts and Figures The Canandaigua-Farmington water system serves over 12,000 people through 4,647 service connections. The total water purchased for the year in 2020 was 679.724 million gallons. The daily average of water treated and pumped into the distribution system was 1.860 million gallons per day. Our highest day was 3.533 million gallons for the year. The amount of water delivered to customers was 498.884 million gallons for the year. 1.246 million gallons were distributed though fire hydrant meter rentals. This leaves unaccountable water total of 179.594 million gallons for the year. Approximately 20% of our unaccountable water was used to flush watermains and hydrants, and for fighting fires and fire protection. Approximately 20% of our unaccountable total water was due to water main leakage. This leaves an unaccountable total of 107.756 million gallons, which is 15.85% of the total water purchased for 2020. In 2020, water customers were charged $4.10 per 1,000 gallons for 0 to 6,000 gallons of water used and additional usage over 6,000 gallons is $4.55 per 1,000 gallons or a minimum quarterly bill of $24.60. Note: Coliform bacteria are tested for 12 times a month. There was a positive test for Coliform on February 04, 2020 at the old Farmington Highway garage. Resampled on February 06, 2020 at the Farmington Town Hall and model home on Harlowe Lane, samples were negative. The Canandaigua-Farmington Consolidated Water District sells water to the Town and Village of Manchester. Their System facts and figures are as follows: • The Village of Manchester services a population of 1,709 through 501 service connections. The total water purchased in 2020 was 41.976 million gallons. The daily average to the distribution system was 115,003 gallons per day. The single highest day was 295,000 gallons. The amount of water sold to customers was 39.424 million gallons. Approximately 245,000 gallons of water was used to flush watermains and hydrants, fighting fires, etc. Water loss due to water main breaks 150,000. There was two water main breaks in 2020, Newton Street and NYS Thruway. This leaves an unaccounted total of 2.157 million gallons, which is 5.0% of the total purchased. In 2020, water customers were charged $26.00 for 0 to 5,000 gallons of water used as the minimum quarterly bill. Additional usage over 5,000 gallons is $4.50 per thousand. $4.00 water meter rent per quarter.

Manchester Village is required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Coliform bacteria are tested for 2 times per month. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. During 2020 there were no missed samples and none tested positive. • The Town of Manchester Water Districts services a population of 1495 through 584 service connections. The total water purchased in 2020 was 58.627 million gallons. The daily average to the distribution system was 160,622 gallons per day. The single highest day was 542,000 gallons in 2020. The amount of water sold to customers was 44,975,455 gallons. Zero gallons were lost due to water main breaks. Approximately 3,132,100 gallons of water was used to flush water mains, hydrants and fight fires. This leaves an unaccounted total of 10.519 million gallons, which is 17.9% of the total purchased. In 2020 water customers were charged $42.75 from 0 to 5,000 gallons of water used as the minimum quarterly bill. Additional usage over 5,000 gallons is $4.75 per 1,000 thousand. The Manchester Water Department retreats with Claritas, a chemical designed to reduce biofilm. Note: Coliform bacteria are tested for once a month. There was a positive test for Coliform on 04/07/2020 at 3555 Armington Road.
Information on Fluoride Addition Our system is one of the many drinking water systems in New York State that provides drinking water with a controlled, low level of fluoride for consumer dental health protection. Fluoride is added to your drinking water by the City of Canandaigua before it is delivered to the Canandaigua-Farmington water system. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control, fluoride is very effective in preventing cavities when present in drinking water at an optimal range from 0.7 to 1.2 mg/L (parts per million). To ensure that the fluoride supplement in your water provides optimal dental protection, the State Department of Health requires that the City of Canandaigua monitor fluoride levels on a daily basis. In 2015 the City of Canandaigua’s average was 0.79 mg/L. None of the monitoring results showed fluoride at levels greater than the 2.2 mg/L MCL for fluoride.
Are There Contaminants In Our Drinking Water? In order to ensure that tap water is safe to drink, we routinely test your drinking water. The New York State Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency prescribe regulations which limit the amount of certain contaminants in water provided by public water systems. These contaminants include: total coliform, turbidity, inorganic compounds, nitrate, nitrite, lead and copper, volatile organic compounds, total trihalomethanes, and synthetic organic compounds. The State Health Department’s and the FDA’s regulations establish limits for contaminants in bottled water which must provide the same protection for public health. Canandaigua-Farmington Water District is required to test for List 1 contaminants, one of which is strontium, under the third round of Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR3). This monitoring provides a basis for future regulatory requirements. In accordance with State regulations, the City of Canandaigua routinely monitors your drinking water for numerous contaminants. They test your drinking water for coliform bacteria, turbidity, inorganic contaminants, lead and copper, nitrate, volatile organic contaminants, total trihalomethanes, and synthetic organic contaminants. The table presented below depicts which contaminants were detected in your drinking water. The State allows us to monitor for certain contaminants less than once per year because the concentrations of these contaminants are not expected to vary significantly from year-to-year. Therefore, some of the data, though representative of the water quality, is more than one year old. Test results were all negative except for those indicated on the following table. The Canandaigua-Farmington Consolidated Water District tested the water for coliform bacteria at least ten (10) times a month. The Village of Manchester tested the water for coliform bacteria two times per month. The Manchester Central Water District tested the water for coliform bacteria once per month.
The table presented below depicts which compounds were detected in your drinking water. It should be noted that all drinking water, including bottled drinking water, may be reasonably expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Inorganic Contaminants
Definitions: Action Level: The concentration of a contaminant that, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow. Maximum Amount Detected: This column represents an average of sample result data collected during the reporting year. In some cases, it may represent a single sample if only one sample was collected. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): The highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as possible. Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): The level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety. N/A: Not applicable ND: Not detectable at testing limits. Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU): Measure of the clarity, or turbidity, of water. Parts per Million: One part of liquid in one million parts of liquid (or milligram per liter). Parts per Billion: One part of liquid in one billion parts of liquid (or microgram per liter). Ranger (Low – High ): This column represents a range of individual sample results, from lowest to highest, that were collected during the reporting year. Treatment Technique (TT): A required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water. Picocuries per liter (pCi/l): Picocuries per liter is a measure of radioactivity in water. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL): The highest level of a disinfectant allowed in drinking water. There is convincing evidence that addition of a disinfectant is necessary for control of microbial contaminants. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level Goal (MRDLG): The level of a drinking water disinfectant below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MRDLGs do not reflect the benefits of the use of disinfectant to control microbial contamination.

1Fluoride is added to the water supply to help promote strong teeth. The Department of Public Health recommends an optimal fluoride concentration range of 0.7 ppm to 1. 2 ppm. Measured on laboratoryís finished water. 2 Turbidity is a measure of the cloudiness of the water, and is monitored as an indicator of the effectiveness of our filtration system. The turbidity rule requires that 95% or more of monthly samples be below 0.3 NTUs. Measured in lab. 3 The level presented represents the 90th percentile. A percentile is a value on a scale of 100 that indicates the percent of a distribution that is equal to or below it. The 90th percentile is equal to or greater than 90% of the lead and copper values detected at your water system. 4 Number of homes out of 30 that were above the action level. 5 Coliforms are bacteria that are naturally present in the environment and are used as an indicator that other, potentially harmful bacteria may be present. 7 This level represents the highest locational running annual average calculated from data collected. Lead. Infants and young children are typically more vulnerable to lead in drinking water than the general population. It is possible that lead levels at your home may be higher than at other homes in the community as a result of materials used in your home’s plumbing. If you are concerned about elevated lead levels in your home’s water, you may wish to have your water tested and flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using your tap water. Additional information is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). MCL’s are set at very stringent levels. To understand the possible health effects described for many regulated constituents, a person would have to drink 2 liters of water every day at the MCL level for a lifetime to have a one-in-a-million chance of having the described health effect.
Do I Need To Take Special Precautions? Some people may be more vulnerable to disease causing microorganisms or pathogens in drinking water than the general population. Immuno-compromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice from their health care provider about their drinking water. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium, Giardia and other microbial pathogens are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
Why Save Water and How to Avoid Wasting It? Although our system has an adequate amount of water to meet present and future demands, there are a number of reasons why it is important to conserve water: • Saving water saves energy and some of the costs associated with both of these necessities of life; • Saving water reduces the cost of energy required to pump water and the need to construct costly new wells, pumping systems and water towers; and • Saving water lessens the strain on the water system during a dry spell or drought, helping to avoid severe water use restrictions so that essential fire fighting needs are met. You can play a role in conserving water by becoming conscious of the amount of water your household is using, and by looking for ways to use less whenever you can. It is not hard to conserve water. Conservation tips include: • Automatic dishwashers use 15 gallons for every cycle, regardless of how many dishes are loaded. So get a run for your money and load it to capacity. • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. • Check every faucet in your home for leaks. Just a slow drip can waste 15 to 20 gallons a day. Fix it up and you can save almost 6,000 gallons per year. • Check your toilets for leaks by putting a few drops of food coloring in the tank, watch for a few minutes to see if the color shows up in the bowl. It is not uncommon to lose up to 100 gallons a day from one of these otherwise invisible toilet leaks. Fix it and you save more than 30,000 gallons a year. • Use your water meter to detect hidden leaks. Simply turn off all taps and water using appliances, and then check the meter after 15 minutes. If it moved, you have a leak.
System Improvements 1. Starting in February 2020 new water main was installed on Amber Drive in the Auburn Meadows Subdivision. 2. Work continues on the Canandaigua Farmington Town Line Road project with new water main being installed in July 2020. 3. Replaced water main on Yerkes Road in Canandaigua started in late July 2020 continuing into December. 4. December 2nd through December 10th we experienced nine water main breaks, resulting in high than normal water usage. Four occurring on December 4, 2020.

The TV series has taught viewers the techniques of survival on an island and in the highly competitive world of business. Taking note of the outcome, it must be good to be conniving, scheming, hypocritical, and to lie and live a perverted lifestyle. As usual, it failed miserably to teach us how to “Survive Forever.” As always, the Bible gives us the answer to this great !@áìÓ@ Z @[ Z .ne question of surviving for eternity. Jesus said, “I am the way (to survive), the truth and the
@ life, NO MAN cometh to the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. According to Jesus, you won’t go to Heaven if you are trying to go on your terms. Practicing your religion, having a good education, holding a good job, making money and being a good person will let you survive in this world’s system down here, but ONLY trusting Jesus ALONE to forgive your sins will make you a Survivor for Eternity. What a difference between the survivor on the TV show and the Survivor of death, hell and the grave, Jesus Christ. Which one is more likely to lie and deceive you? Come to Christ now.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING TIPS (NAPSI)—These five tips can help you be prepared for the perils of the road. 1. Know Your Car. Like people, each car has a unique personality. Some features work better than others, and conditions can cause a vehicle to react a certain way. Knowing your car’s limits and behavior patterns can help you predict how it will respond in certain situations. How long does it take you to stop and how much pressure is required on the brake pedal? What’s your turn radius? Does your vehicle lean when you round a corner? Does it quake when you hit a certain speed? Knowing the answers can help you avoid accidents. 2. Use Extreme Caution During a Lane Change. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that one of the most common causes of two-lane auto accidents is unsafe lane changes. 3. Know Your Blind Spots. Most cars have at least one line of vision that’s not clearly evident in the rearview or side mirrors. Even carefully placed mirrors often cannot cover every possible angle. Move the side mirrors far outward so that the angle of view barely overlaps the view of the rearview mirror.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A TEAM PLAYER The ability to communicate, interact and work collectively with others is both a professional and personal asset. But in certain ways, the reliance on technology has made working as a team more complicated. People have grown accustomed to spending large quantities of time alone working at computers or on phones and tablets, potentially compromising their ability to work directly with others when the need arises. According to Monster.com, when it comes to choosing a candidate for a new job or promotion, employers consistently say they want a team player. That means it’s advantageous for professionals looking to further their careers to brush up on their team-building and social skills.
Do You Love To Clean? Come join our team! • DAYS, M-F 7:30am - 4pm • FT & PT • With performance & attendance rewards can earn over $500/wk. • Paid vacation/holidays provided w/required time in service. • Must be at least 21, have own car & be able to pass drug, background and driving record screening.
