Paula Martindale Longacre, age 60 of Geneseo, passed away peacefully and went to meet her Maker on Sunday,July 23,2023.Paula was born on March 7, 1963 in Wayland. She was the daughter of the late Patricia (Abels) & Charles Martindale, Sr.On October 3,1992,she married the love of her life, Jan Longacre.

Paula was an active member of Webster Crossings UMC where she served as SS teacher,superintendent,a member of the United Methodist women’s group, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Shepherding Committee, Communion Steward, altar care, and assisted with church dinners.

Paula is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Jan D. Longacre; daughter,Ti any (Nick Martinez) Longacre and siblings,Charles (Linda) Martindale Jr.,Timothy (Irene) Martindale, Donald (Lynne) Martindale, Melody ( omas) Bogdon, Patricia (James) Posick, and Aunt Armeeta Martindale. She also is survived by her mother-in-law, Gladys Longacre and sisters-in-law, Sheryl (Jonathan) Shenk, Katrine (Phil) Rose, and Dena Tompkins. She had many nieces, nephews, and dear friends including neighbors Heather and Jesse Kingston, their son Remy and dog Yeti.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Martindale; father, Charles Martindale Sr.; sister, Carol Loop; brother, Roy Martindale; father-in-law, David Longacre, and their family dog, Quincy.

She was a graduate of Wayland Central School in 1981. She enjoyed gardening, arranging owers and center pieces, making wreaths, cardmaking, kayaking, hiking, spending time at the camper in PA, walking Yeti, planning special events such as tea parties, sleep overs for nieces and nephews, and time with family and friends.

She was employed in hotel management prior to becoming a stay-at home mom. She was an in-home day care provider, worked at Genesee Country Christian School, and most recently at Livonia Elementary School as an aide for children with special needs.

Friends may call from 4-8pm on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland where funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Burial will be in Erwin Cemetery, Springwater.

Lima – Died suddenly after a short illness in Detroit, MI on July 20, 2023 at age 76. Beloved mother of Eric (Annie) Gordon, Erin (Jim) Shadwell,Christopher (Jennifer) Gordon; beloved sister of Tom (Kathie), Frank (Sue), Pat, Rose Reynolds; sister-in-law, Joan Bileti; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Terry Reynolds; and husband,Richard Gordon.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Frances Laiosa; her husband, James David Hodges in 2017, her beloved grandson, Tanner James Hodges earlier this year and her younger brother, Bob Laiosa in 2020. She is survived by her two sons, James (Marijo) of Pi ard, NY and Joseph (Nadine) Hodges of Palm, PA; her granddaughters, Lily and Leah of Pi ard and her grandsons, Gabriel and Cole of Palm. She is also survived by her brother, David (Joyce) Laiosa of Albany and a brother-in-law, Leonard Hodges of Joppa MD. She has a great many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jane graduated from East High School in Rochester and worked performing clerical duties for such employers as Bene cial Finance and Loan, Werco Electric and for most of her career at Rochester Institute of Technology where started in the Bursar’s o ce and nished up in the Learning Development Center before retiring. After retiring Jane held part-time jobs at Sears and JC Penney at Marketplace Mall in Henrietta where she lived. Jane liked to work and be busy and made cherished friends wherever she worked. Jane was a great cook and took pride in keeping her family well fed. For fun Jane liked dancing to DO-WOP music, reading and spending time with her family. Jane was a proud wife, mom and grandma who was dearly loved. In her later years Jane resided at Morgan Estates where she was lovingly cared for and known to all as “Ma.”

Her Memorial Service was held ursday, July 27, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. Interment Bath National Cemetery.
