Medicare card scams are on the rise. During one calendar year, Medicare had over $100 billion in fraudulent claims, and the damage cost goes up when identity theft and stolen financial information are added in.
What the Medicare thieves want is your card number, and they’ll try any number of tricks to get you to reveal it.
Scammers might contact you to offer you a “cheaper” Medicare but will need your personal information to sign you up. Don’t fall for it. They might impersonate a Medicare employee and say that your card is about to expire and you need a new one. They’ll ask for your current card number and your personal information to verify it’s really you. (Wrong: Medicare cards don’t expire.)
Scammers might call and say that your Medicare benefits have been canceled, but claim they can help you get the benefits reinstated if you give them your personal information or even a fee. (Wrong: Medicare won’t communicate with you that way, and if they need to contact you, it will be by mail.)
Thieves might try to claim that your old paper card isn’t good now and that you need a new one with a chip in it, like a credit card. (Wrong: Medicare cards are only made of paper.)
They might offer you a refund of some type or something free, or you might be offered genetic testing. All you need to do, they’ll say, is give them your Medicare card number ... and your bank information for the refund.
Whether you’re contacted by phone, email or text message, don’t give out your Medicare card number or any of your personal or financial information.
As usual, if you suspect you have a scammer on the phone, hang up immediately. If you believe it was an attempt at a Medicare scam, call 800-MEDICARE (800-633-4227) to report it.

Fleas: Fleas are parasitic blood-suckers that reside on the coats of pets. Scratching, hot spots, hair loss, and tapeworms (which are carried by fleas) can be symptomatic of flea infestation. Some people may notice actual fleas on their dogs, while others may identify the flea dirt against a dog’s skin. Flea prevention medicines and medicated shampoos can help keep fleas at bay.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I took over the care of a rabbit named “Chucky” a few weeks ago, after the previous owner, my aunt, passed away. Since he got here, Chucky has spent most of his days inside his hutch. When I try to take him out, he huddles tightly against the far wall. I don’t see him eat or drink during the day, but he does come out at night after I go to bed. Is he depressed, or is it something else? -- Jim F., Chula Vista, California
DEAR JIM: Chucky does sound pretty stressed out, and depression is definitely on the table here. He also may be having trouble adjusting to his new environment, and is missing your aunt, too. A stressed and unhappy rabbit is tense, staying in a down position with their ears flattened against their body. Their nose doesn’t twitch. They don’t hop around the cage freely, and they’ll hide away if you reach for them.
The first thing to do is establish care, if you haven’t done so already. Take Chucky to a veterinarian specializing in small animals (including rabbits) for a checkup, explain the circumstances, and detail his behaviors. The vet will rule out any underlying health conditions and can give you a wealth of advice on helping him be more comfortable and easing his transition to a new owner.
It’s important to be supportive and not force interaction at this time. Keep Chucky’s cage clean and fresh, change his water and food daily, and provide him with rabbit toys and chews strewn around the cage that he can explore. Talk to him in a soothing voice while you are near his cage. As he adjusts, he will gradually respond and feel comfortable with you.

Cats can become pregnant even during the first estrus cycle. A feline’s pregnancy lasts around 63 to 65 days, or about nine weeks. A cat also can be impregnated again very quickly after giving birth, as nursing kittens will not prevent a subsequent pregnancy. The average litter size is three to six kittens, so it’s easy to see just how many kittens can be born of one cat if she’s left to her own reproductive devices. Females also can be mated by more than one male or even one of their male relatives.

CALEDONIA MUMFORD’S
BY SUZIE WELLS
Caledonia-Mumford High School senior Ava Amorese has solidified her place in school history, surpassing the coveted 1,000-point mark in Varsity Girls Basketball this February. A five-year varsity athlete in both basketball and soccer, Amorese’s milestone is the culmination of years ofdedicationandpassionforthesport.
“I would like to thank the teammates I’ve had through the years for making basketball one of the greatest experiences of my life,”
AVA AMORESE
Reflecting on her journey, Amorese recalls her earliest memories on the court:“Myfirstmemoriesinbasketball were playing biddy basketball and doing layup drills, and now I get to give back by being a coach in the same youth program!” Her love for the game has only grown over the years, fueled by teamwork and strategy. “I love playing with my team and being able to take all of our individual talents to make us better as a team,” she said. “ e strategy and game planning in basketball is also really fun because each game is completely different and unique from the next.”
Reaching 1,000 career points is a remarkable achievement, one that Amorese describes as “probably one of my biggest personal achievements.” She acknowledges the significance of the milestone, not just as an individual honor, but as a testament to the contributions of past and present teammates. “It’s really cool to have a personal achievement that shows all the work I’ve put into it,” she explained. “It is also nice to be able to look back at past seasons and remember all the past teams that have helped contribute to the accumulation of 1,000 points.”
Beyond her athletic success, Amorese excels academically, recently earning recognition as the fi h-ranked student in her graduating class. Her future aspirations are equally impressive, as she plans to double major in Neuroscience and Psychology in college.
Varsity girls’ basketball coach and Cal-Mum Athletic Director, Michael Reed, praised Amorese’s relentless work ethic and positive attitude, crediting her success to her unwavering
commitment. “Ava’s success is due directly to her hard work,” Reed stated. “She has a fantastic attitude and practices and plays hard all the time. She has great family support that has allowed her to be successful.”
As the Cal-Mum team sets its sights on a sectional title, Reed remains confident in both the team’s growth and Amorese’s bright future. “Our goal has always been to get better each game and in a larger context throughout the season,” he noted, adding, “We have always said that we should not be the same team at the end of the season that we were in the beginning of the season. I would say that has been true this season.”
Reed adds that “Ava has unlimited potential for her future. Her positive attitude, hard work, and family support will help her be successful regardless of what she chooses to do.”
Amorese expressed deep gratitude to those who have been part of her journey. “I would like to thank the teammates I’ve had through the years for making basketball one of the greatest experiences of my life,” she said. “You have made it such a memorable experience I will cherish forever.”
As she prepares for the next chapter, Amorese offers words of wisdom to aspiring athletes: “ e only thing that matters is that you believe in yourself and enjoy playing.” With her remarkable achievements both on and off the court, there’s no doubt that Ava Amorese’s legacy at Caledonia-Mumford will be remembered for years to come.

Q.DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m a 75-year-old woman who, for at least 10 years now, has been experiencing a rapid heart rate. My blood pressure, however, remains normal. In fact, doctors are usually surprised at how good my blood pressure is since I am borderline obese and slightly diabetic. During this past physical, my doctor did mention my rapid heart rate but didn’t recommend treatment or referral to a cardiologist. Should I insist on a referral to a cardiologist, or would this only bring me to more unnecessary testing? -- M.R.
ANSWER: I unfortunately hear about people (more commonly women) having a potentially serious medical condition that gets ignored for many years, and I fear this is the case with you.
A.In a person with a persistently fast heart rate (over 100 bpm), an electrocardiogram (EKG) is an essential first step. I suspect you may have had this done, but if you haven’t, this clearly needs to be done. Atrial fibrillation and some less-common heart rhythms need to be excluded.
It’s likely that you have “sinus tachycardia,” meaning that the impulse comes from the sinus node but is persistently too fast. The heart rate is supposed to be fast if you are exercising, and a fast pulse can often come on as a response to an infection or a loss of fluids. But I think that, after 10 years, you most likely have a condition called inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST).
Since you are writing to me, I assume that this is bothering you. Most people with IST note palpitations, but loss of endurance and decreased exercise tolerance are other common symptoms. Before getting treated, it’s important to make sure that there isn’t some longstanding cause, such as anemia or thyroid disease.
It’s also necessary to exclude the diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which can overlap with IST and seems to be much more common now, especially after a COVID infection.
I have had some success in prescribing exercise for carefully selected patients with IST. The cardiology literature recommends beta blockers or ivabradine to reduce symptoms and improve exercise ability.
Referral to a cardiologist is appropriate given your 10 years of not being evaluated. Even if you decide against therapy, making sure that there isn’t a serious problem is very wise.

Undereye bags can cause shadows to form and increase the appearance of dark circles. To remedy this, try to reduce fluid pooling in the face. Sleep elevated on a few pillows so that fluid flows away from the eyes. Reduce consumption of alcohol and salty foods, which can exacerbate fluid retention. Cool compresses can be used to massage fluid gently away from the eyes as well.

A child’s baby teeth, called primary teeth, are important. Strong, healthy primary teeth help the child chew and pronounce words. By the time babies are born, they usually have 20 primary teeth that have formed inside the gums. The front two upper and two lower teeth typically begin to appear, or erupt through the gums, when the child is between the ages of six and 12 months. Most children have a set of 20 primary teeth by the time they are age three.

Tooth decay can occur as soon as the teeth appear in the baby’s mouth. Parents may wonder why there is concern about baby teeth becoming decayed, since they will be replaced by permanent teeth. But there is cause for concern: decay in primary teeth may damage the hidden permanent teeth that are forming inside the gums.
six months after the baby’s first tooth appears, but no later than the child’s first birthday.
If a primary tooth is lost too early, nearby teeth can tip or shift into the vacant space. When the permanent tooth is ready to emerge into the space, there may not be enough room for it. The new tooth may be unable to emerge – or may emerge in an abnormal position. The vacant space may also cause a permanent tooth to erupt
Protect your child’s teeth by starting dental checkups early. The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry note that it is beneficial for the first dental visit to occur within
Why schedule a visit so early? The dentist can show you how to clean your child’s teeth, discuss fluoride needs and recommend oral care products. They can answer your questions about your baby’s teeth, just like a well baby visit with your pediatrician. The dentist also checks for problems such as early childhood caries your child’s first birthday.
• Schedule a morning appointment when children tend to be rested and cooperative.
• Emphasize the positive! The dentist will help to keep your child’s teeth healthy; keep to yourself any anxiety that you might feel about dental visits.
• Don’t bribe your child to go to the dentist.
• Never use the visit as a punishment or threat!
• Try to make your child’s dental visit an enjoyable outing.
Cataract diagnosis and treatment: An eye doctor will examine dilated eyes to diagnose cataracts. A slit-lamp microscope can make it easier to spot abnormalities, states the AOA.
The eye professional will consider age and the severity of cataracts to determine a treatment strategy. Early loss of vision due to cataracts may be mitigated by stronger lighting or a change in eyeglasses or contact lens prescription.
Johns Hopkins says cataract surgery is one of the most common eye surgeries. It is safe and effective. An ophthalmologist will remove the cloudy lens and replace it with an artificial, clear lens. If cataracts are present in both eyes, each surgery will be performed separately. A possible complication of cataract surgery is when a part of the natural lens that is not taken out during surgery becomes cloudy and blurs eyesight. This can be remedied with a laser treatment.

Snowshoeing: Parents may not know that many retailers sell snowshoes for children. While snowshoeing can be physically demanding, it’s also a fun way for families that like family walks to continue those traditions even if there are a few inches of snow on the ground. Make sure kids are bundled up, paying extra attention to their footwear. Kids will enjoy snowshoeing more if their boots are both comfortable and capable of keeping their feet warm.

Leisure activities may be widely viewed as fun ways to fill up free time, but the benefits of leisure activities extend beyond beating boredom. A 2011 analysis published in the journal BBA Molecular Basis of Disease found that leisure activities have a positive impact on cognitive function and dementia. The analysis, conducted by researchers with the Aging Research Center in Stockholm who examined various studies regarding the relationship between certain activities and cognitive function, defined leisure activity as the voluntary use of free time for activities outside the home. After retirement, leisure time constitutes a large part of many retirees’ lives, and finding ways to fill that time is more beneficial than merely avoiding boredom. The researchers behind the study concluded that the existing research is insufficient to draw any firm conclusions regarding the effects of certain types of leisure activities on the risk for dementia and cognitive decline, though they did note that multi-domain cognitive training has the potential to improve cognitive function in healthy older adults and slow decline in affected individuals. A multi-domain approach to cognitive training involves memory, reasoning, problem-solving, and map reading, among other activities. Aging adults who embrace activities that require the use of such skills may find that they’re not only finding stimulating ways to fill their free time, but increasing their chances of long-term cognitive health as well.

TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE AND CONNECTED DURING A MOVE (NAPSI) — Planning a move can be stressful, but planning a move in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic brings a new set of challenges. Stay safe and connected with some smart pre-move planning; here are some tips:
Follow Approved Protocols — If you can’t postpone your move, take extra precautions before moving in to ensure your new place is clean. Follow general disinfecting guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Among other surfaces, disinfect doors, door handles, bathrooms, kitchen appliances, countertops and—something many people don’t really think about—cabinet and doorknobs as well as light switches.
Safely Stay Connected — New work-from-home protocols and online schooling mean reliable Internet connectivity is more important than ever. Prior to your move, SmartMove can connect you to your local provider and help arrange new Touchless Installs that let you safely connect your tech services yourself. Cable companies deliver equipment with step-by-step activation information so you can set up your system on your own, or with support over the phone, online, through chat functionality or video tutorials. In most cases, no technician will need to enter your home.
Keep in Touch & Maintain Daily Routines — You may be staying in more, but don’t forget to take a break from unpacking boxes. Use your new online connection to find delivery services to help stock your pantry and fridge and refill prescriptions. Your new house will feel more like home if you take time to watch your favorite shows, maintain your exercise program or explore online courses that can help you discover new talents or resume old hobbies. Don’t forget to connect with friends through group video chats or viewing parties—you can even take your friends and family on a virtual tour of your new place!

Seek out no-markup dealerships - It may take some investigation, but there are certain dealerships that are not adding astronomical markups, also called “market adjustments,” to the costs of their vehicles. These dealers may advertise online, and car buyers can always call ahead to ask about markups.

Miles Davis (1926-1991):
Compared to other jazz legends, Illinois-born Miles Davis was introduced to music rather late. It wasn’t until Davis was 13 years old that his father introduced him to the trumpet, an introduction that would dramatically alter the course of jazz music. Under the tutelage of local music school director Elwood Buchanan, Davis learnedtoplaythetrumpetwithout vibrato, which Biography.com notesmarkedadeparturefromthe style of trumpet-playing popular at the time. A true pioneer, Davis is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music.

Among the more expensive fencing options, vinyl can make up for that initial sticker shock thanks to its durability. In addition, vinyl fences require little maintenance, saving homeowners the expense of paying for upkeep such as repainting. Vinyl fencing comes in various styles, and homeowners can choose the style that best suits their priorities with regard to aesthetic appeal and privacy.

Does Your Family Have a Fire Escape Plan? (Family Features) When a home fire occurs, you have very little time to get out. A working smoke alarm doubles your chances of survival, yet more than twenty percent of American homes are without them. Energizer and the International Association of Fire Chiefs teamed up to address this problem by providing vital fire safety information to families. Make a Plan Installing smoke alarms on every level of the home and developing a plan of escape can give your family precious minutes to get out and get to safety. Draw a floor plan of your home and sketch exit routes out of every room. Make sure you have a fire escape ladder long enough to reach the ground from upstairs rooms. Oxygen is essential for the roots of grass to breathe and grow strong enough to support healthy lawns. But according to the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, compacted soil can produce a decrease in oxygen content that can make it hard for roots to thrive. Soil compaction can result from a number of activities, including walking on grass or driving or parking vehicles on grass. When soil is compacted, it breaks into small particles that reduce the amount of pore space in the soil. That makes it hard for water, oxygen and nutrients to get through, threatening the strength of the roots and putting the grass in jeopardy. Aerating a lawncanhelphomeownersfoster strong root growth and healthy grass. When to aerate may be contingent upon local climate, so homeownerswhosuspectthesoil in their yards is compact should consult with a local landscaping professionaltodeterminethebest timetoaeratetheirlawns.

DID YOU KNOW? Spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, is the most common cause of mortality in infants. According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, SMA is a motor neuron disease that affects the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and voluntary muscle movement. WebMD notes that the severity of SMA varies widely, but the disease is known to weaken muscles and can cause difficulty eating, breathing and walking. In the past, infants diagnosed with SMA typically did not survive more than two years, but the MDA notes that doctors now prefer to avoid making rigid predictions on life expectancy based strictly on age of onset.

Mildred Jane Annis “Milly” February 23, 2025
Livonia, NY: Mildred “Milly” Annis was born September 29, 1932, at home in Perry, NY to Clair and Laura (Johnson) Chaffee. She died on February 23, 2025 at the age of 92. She was one of four children raised on a farm which cultivated her lifelong love of animals.
Milly enjoyed a colorful life full of diverse experiences.
At age nine Milly worked her first job on the pea stack at the Curtis Burns Canning Factory in Mt. Morris for three summers. Her dad used a 40-yearold man’s Social Security number to get her the job. She started work at 4:00 a.m. feeding and watering the mules before she could hook them up to the carts. She would place the carts underneath the shoot to catch the pea vines after the men had pointed long pitchforks to indicate where to put the cart. She was paid $0.50 per week and most days worked 12-13 hours. She always worked barefoot because she only owned one pair of shoes a year and did not want to get them dirty.
When she was 16,Milly worked at JJ Newberry’s,a Five-n-Ten store on Main Street in Perry, until she graduated from Perry High School in 1951.
After graduation she became a bookkeeper for the GLF Farm Store (Grange League Federation which later became Agway), as well as a switchboard operator for Duracraft (Champion Products).
Once married, Milly was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she returned to the workforce. In her early years she worked for Finocchario’s sorting potatoes, followed by jobs at the Penny Saver, Eagle Crest Winery, Kemp’s Bus Service and as an Election Inspector. Her all-time favorite job was her five years as a licensed Real Estate Broker with Nothnagle Gallery of Homes, which allowed her bubbly, friendly personality to shine. She will most likely be remembered for her 19 years as a Rural Carrier with the US Post Office, delivering to over 600 residents each day within the Livonia area. Everyone on her route knew her by name!
Milly loved to volunteer! In the late 1940s she volunteered for the Civil Air Patrol which had a glass building satellite office on top of the fire department building on Main Street in Perry. Her job was to spot planes and then notify the Civil Air Patrol Headquarters in Buffalo as to the type, size and location of the plane. It was after WWII when the Civil Air Patrol would monitor
planes within the US to ensure there were no unfriendly planes. She did this for many years until the Civil Air Patrol did not perceive any threats.
As a teenager Milly owned a 1947 Cadillac limo and volunteered with the local funeral home to take pallbearers from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Milly delivered Meals-on-Wheels for Livingston County, was the Salvation Army coordinator/fundraiser in Livonia for 10 years, and a regular volunteer for the Livonia Food Pantry, Foodlink, the Genesee Rural Preservation Council, Livonia Historic Society and Livingston County Hospice. She was a Brownie leader and assisted with Girl Scout Troop functions. She was one of the chairpersons for the Forrest Vosler Park and the secretary and groundkeeper for the Oakridge Cemetery in South Livonia. In 2006,she was named Livonia ‘Senior of the Year.’
Milly was a proud member of the Harrison Lee American Legion Auxiliary and would have marked her 50th year membership celebration this year.
Most of all Milly’s colorful life centered around the love she had for her family, friends and a good outing or party, especially if it involved playing cards and board games. She brought the fun wherever she went!
Milly was predeceased by her husband, Almon ‘Gus’ Annis, and her siblings. She is survived by her stepson, James (Joan) Annis; and children, Elizabeth (Don) orne, Barbara (Bob) Lemen and Jeffrey (Brenda) Annis; as well as grandchildren, Patty Years, Molly Hammond, Briania (Jeff) BennettColavecchia, Brittney Bennett,Toni Bennett (Daryl Martin), Chelsea (Eric) Castle, Amanda and Holly orne; step-grandchildren, Allyse (Tyler) Brant and Colin Lemen; along with several great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home for the amazing care they provided her.
Friends and family were invited to call from 1-3pm on ursday, February 27, 2025 at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, 21 Big Tree Street in Livonia, where Milly’s Memorial Service immediately followed at 3pm. Burial followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Livonia, NY. Following the cemetery service there was a reception at the Harrison Lee Post 283 American Legion Hall in Livonia Center.
Memorial contributions can be made to the South Livonia United Church of Christ, 5087 South Livonia Road, Livonia, NY 14487.

In addition to eating healthier, exercising more and getting more sleep, many people resolve to travel more at the dawn of a new year.
Travel is much more than leaving one’s home. It’s about setting habits aside, escaping comfort zones and trying something different - and doing so in a different location.
In its latest World Tourism Barometer, the United Nations World Tourism Organization found that 1.184 billion tourists traveled outside their countries’ borders for at least one night in 2015. Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas all recorded around a 5 percent increase in international arrivals that year. Europe was particularly popular, perhaps hedged by a weaker euro against the American dollar and other currencies. The U.S. Travel Association says that direct spending by resident and international travelers in America averaged $2.7 billion a day.
Millennials may be leading the travel-enamored pack. The United Nations estimates that 20 percent of all international tourists, or nearly 200 million travelers, are young people, and that the millennial demographic generates more than $180 billion in annual tourism revenue. The U.N. also reports that millennials are more interested than older generations in traveling abroad as much as possible.
Infrequent travelers or those who have never traveled may not understand why heading to parts unknown is so appealing to so many people. The following are just a handful of reasons why travel is so enticing.
1. Engage the mind. Staying mentally active over the course of a lifetime promotes long-term health. Navigating unfamiliar places or reading a foreign language while sitting in an international country can engage the brain and get synapses firing. The Mayo Clinic reports that higher cognitive activity endows the brain with a greater ability to fend off brain pathologies, such as disease and dementias.
2. Connect with new people. Travel opens a person up to not only new experiences, but also new people. English poet John Donne penned the famous line, “No man is an island,” which underscores the importance of having friends and making new acquaintances. Research conducted by the University of Michigan found the act of talking with people in a friendly way can improve a person’s memory, suppress external and internal distractions, and encourage people to see things from another person’s perspective. It doesn’t hurt to broaden one’s social network, either.
3. Build confidence. Leaving one’s comfort zone can be a great way to bolster one’s self-esteem. Navigating cultural boundaries and overcoming those boundaries may be initially intimidating, but doing so can make a person more confident and more adaptable to change.
4. Develop opinions. Until a person visits a place in person, he or she only has third-party information to form opinions. Visiting a city or country for the first time can offer a more complete perspective.
Travel gives people the chance to rest, explore, meet new friends, and make lasting memories.

TIPS TO HELP MEN LOOK THEIR BEST: Make an effort to reduce stress. Stress produces a host of negative side effects, some of which can indirectly affect appearance. Some people dealing with stress end up suffering from insomnia, which can contribute to bags under the eyes. Stress also can adversely affect hydration of the skin, contributing to dry skin. Stress also can contribute to hormonal imbalances that lead to skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. If stress is a problem, make a concerted effort to reduce it, even working with a physician to reduce stress when necessary.

Consider sprinkling some parmesan cheese on an apple or popcorn for an afternoon snack, or have an ounce of cheddar with a small portion of nuts for calcium and protein.

Yay Rebecca Yuhas in the Hometown Stories columnnew Master Teacher out of Newark. Our teachers often are under- or un-recognized, so it’s great to hear about teachers developing their skills and learning more and more about their craft so our children can learn from the best. Thank you, all teachers, for all you do for and with our students. Thank you for helping develop the minds of the next generation. We need you and we appreciate you!
To the young man who snowplowed our driveway today, thank you so much. You will never know how your act of kindness touched me. My husband has difficulty walking and our snowblower froze up this past week. My son and I shoveled the driveway three times this week but it didn’t stop either my husband or myself, or the Amazon driver from getting stuck in it. My husband has a doctor’s appointment this week and I’ve been worrying all weekend about getting stuck in the driveway. Your random act of kindness meant so very much. God bless you!
Perhaps you should hibernate at home all winter. NYS DOT (and I assume other departments) have a preset amount of salt to apply based on road conditions. Many go to shift work in the winter to cut down on overtime. Many towns have central locations for salt storage (do you also complain when you pass multiple school busses at the

If you want to take your vent to mother nature and request snow and ice falling only certain hours and days that would be awesome.
Thank you everyone who slows down for the snowplows!
It has been said our volunteer fire department has only one driver qualified to drive the biggest, most expensive truck they had to have and no one can answer a call until that person arrives to drive. That’s an irresponsible use of our tax money.

Deciding to leave a job is seldom an easy decision. However, it’s a more common decision than many people may know, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates the average worker holds 10 different jobs before age 40.
People change jobs for a variety of reasons. Some do so because of better opportunities elsewhere, while others simply need a change. Regardless of what’s motivating a job change, leaving a place of employment can elicit various emotions, including some that may contribute to negative thoughts about a current employer. But it’s always best to leave a job gracefully, which can pay dividends down the road.

DID YOU KNOW? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, air currents can carry pesticides that were applied to nearby properties. That means even people who do not apply pesticides in their lawns and gardens can still be at risk of exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals. People concerned by the prospect of being exposed to the pesticides being applied by their neighbors can stay indoors with their children and pets while the substances are being applied. Those who live near fields and parks where pesticides are routinely applied can plant hardy, thick-branched trees to reduce their risk of airborne exposure. The EPA notes that such plants and shrubs can serve as buffers against airborne pesticides, essentially acting as walls around a property that prevent gusty winds from blowing pesticides into yards and gardens.
Each numbered row contains two clues and two answers. e two answers differ from each other by only one letter, which has already been inserted. For example, if you exchange the A from MASTER for an I, you get MISTER. Do not change the order of the letters.
