Begin Again Horse Rescue Microchip Pilot Program

Automotive ____________________10

BY CHRISTINA M. ECKLUND Begin Again Horse Rescue (BAHR), of Lima New York, is pleased to announce that it has received a generous grant from the Kenneth A Scott Charitable Trust. This grant will allow the organization to run a pilot project to microchip all the equine in its program during 2021. In its 11 years dedicated to local equine rescue, BAHR has placed more than 270 of them and helped hundreds more to find safe haven in permanent homes. If the project proves successful, the rescue hopes to expand the program to include local community equine next year. For the first year of the pilot project, BAHR has obtained 200 microchips and two chip readers from Pet Link Inc. Included in the grant is a twenty-dollar honorarium for each equine earmarked to pay for veterinary implantation. It is hoped that all adopters and fostered caregivers will agree to take part in the new program during spring vaccine veterinary visits, so there should be no additional charges to the adopters for this service. “I am so thankful to the Kenneth A Scott Charitable Trust”, said Harriett Rubins, BAHRís Executive Director. “It makes possible one more level of safety-net to safeguard these equines that have had such bad experiences. We never want them to suffer again.” Additionally, Begin Again Horse Rescue is working to educate its surrounding equine communities to the benefits of microchipping. Microchipping affords an animal a permanent identification that cannot be separated or altered. The chips, painlessly embedded beneath the skin on the left side of the neck, are the size of a grain of rice and take seconds to implant. The chip numbers are registered with Pet Link online data base. They help prevent theft, aid identification and recovery during disasters, provide a mobile link to online health certificates and medical records, and they provide correct identification of equine at competitions to prevent fraud. Other benefits include traceability in disease outbreak scenarios, and they allow for rapid and efficient management of investigations into diseases or to missing animals. Most veterinarians have the chip readers. Begin Again Horse Rescue now has two, which we will use to help others identify their horses.

It is through the generosity of volunteers, donations and grants that BAHR can support regional equine in need. One of those ways is by helping to reduce the symptoms of depression. My name is Kitten and I turned 6 years old in March. For my birthday last year my mom and dad got me a little brother, toys, and gourmet cat food. Although I loved the toys and food, I am not enjoying my crazy little brother Elmo. He likes to copy everything I do, chases me to play, and cuddles me when I’m sleeping. I love to watch the birds on my perch every morning and my little brother sometimes steals my spot before I get there. I know one day when he is a little older and calmer, we will be the best of friends. Send us a photo and brief write-up of your pet and we’ll feature it. Email to: sales@gvpennysaver.com or mail to: P.O. Box 340; Avon, 14414. Pets will be published at discretion of GVPS.

PET OBESITY IS A GROWING PROBLEM Vets advise that dog owners should be able to easily feel and count dogs’ ribs when they run their fingers across the side of the animal. Pets viewed from above should display an hourglass figure that includes an indentation near the midsection. The absence of this “waist” may indicate a problem. When observing a pet from the side while he or she is standing, a slight upward slope of the stomach should be visible. A low-hanging abdomen means abdominal fat may be present. Neighbor Lets His Dog Poop in My Yard DEAR PAW’S CORNER: My neighbor constantly lets his dog come into my yard and do his business. Sometimes the dog is off leash, and other times he is on the leash while the neighbor just stands there. I’m tired of picking up after this dog! What can I do? Should I go out and squirt the dog in the face with water? -- Frustrated in White Plains, New York DEAR FRUSTRATED: This isn’t the dog’s fault at all -- it’s the fault of the owner for allowing his dog into your yard. Squirting the dog in the face (or the owner) will not help things and will only escalate the situation. The next time the owner comes by, talk to him -- calmly -- and ask him not to let the dog poop in your yard, to keep the dog on a leash, and to pick up after the dog. Explain that keeping him on a leash keeps the dog safe. If the neighbor keeps letting the dog into your yard, or if you don’t feel safe talking to this person, then contact the city. White Plains, like many municipalities in the U.S., has a leash law and imposes fines on owners who don’t keep their dog on a leash, who don’t pick up after their dog, or who allow their pet to go onto someone else’s property without permission. And please, whatever you do, don’t take this out on the dog. Pets are unaware of boundaries unless they’re trained to stay away from certain areas. They don’t realize they’re doing something wrong, especially if the owner is not correcting them. It’s up to the owner to control his dog while outside. Send your questions, tips or comments to ask@pawscorner.com. (c) 2021 King Features Synd., Inc.

TIME IS MONEY WHEN IT COMES TO CAR MAINTENANCE (NAPSI)—Whether changing the oil, replacing the wiper blades or checking the tires, finding the time to perform simple preventative vehicle maintenance is money in the bank.

According to research conducted by automotive market research firm IMR Inc., one out of three consumers who put off routine vehicle maintenance do so because they cannot find a convenient time. In addition, millennials and those who own older vehicles are more likely to delay routine maintenance.

Expert Advice “There is an old adage that if you take care of your car, your car will take care of you,” said Rich White, executive director of the nonprofit Car Care Council. “Making time to perform routine auto care not only ensures a safer, more dependable vehicle, but car owners can preserve the trade-in value and save money by addressing small issues before they become more complicated, expensive repairs.” What You Should Do The most common maintenance procedures to keep a car operating safely and reliably while maintaining its long-term value involve checking the oil, filters and fluids, the belts and hoses, brakes, tires and air-conditioning. An annual tune-up and wheel alignment are also good ideas.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED WHEN RENOVATING Dirt and noise: Homeowners can count on dust, debris and noise throughout the renovation process. Dust appears when walls come down or go up, and construction teams typically erect temporary walls or tarps to contain the debris. Air filtering systems also can limit dust particles. Noise is unavoidable. If it becomes troublesome, arrange to be outside of the home when the bulk of the construction is taking place.

PRO-VISION PAINTING Interior/Exterior Painting Power Washing, Deck Staining, Gutter Cleaning DESIGN A GARDEN FOR ALL SENSES Aesthetic appeal is one of the most sought-after benefits of gardening. However, many homeowners put in so much effort planting for one particular season that they may not give thought to ensuring the garden looks vibrant no matter the time of year. Gardeners can research planting zones to find plants that will blossom at different times of the year so they can enjoy impressive, aesthetically appealing gardens year-round. Spring bulbs can bloom early on, while annual and perennial summer favorites will thrive under the summer sun. Beautyberry and caryopteris will fill out in the autumn, while holly or mahonia can look lovely in the winter. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

DESIGN A GARDEN FOR ALL SENSES The lively sounds of the garden are created by the wildlife that come to pollinate and enjoy the environment gardeners have created. By choosing indigenous plants, gardeners can be sure that insects and small critters will seek refuge within the foliage. Songbirds also will add character to a yard. The Audubon Society suggests including a water source and a songbird border of shrubs along your property’s edge. Provide food sources and make sure they are located a fair distance from the main action of the yard so as not to scare off birds. Wait for musical chickadees, goldfinches, orioles, and cardinals to arrive and enjoy the accommodations.

Dietary fiber: The Mayo Clinic notes that dietary fiber refers to the parts of plant foods that the human body cannot digest or absorb. Fiber is typically classified as soluble, which refers to types of fiber that dissolve in water, and insoluble, which is used to describe types of fiber that promote movement of material through the digestive system. Soluble fiber can help lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels, while insoluble can help people who suffer from constipation or irregular stools.

NOW, let it never be forgotten in the investigation of “the things of the kingdom of God,” that the Israelites have never possessed the country as defined in this survey since it was revealed to them through the prophet. The twelve tribes have not even occupied the land together; and those of them that have dwelt there after the return from Babylon to the overthrow by the Romans, held but a very small portion of it, while the gentile kingdoms lorded it over all the rest. Now, either God is a liar, as some people make Him out to be who deny the restoration of the twelve tribes; or, the time He refers to in the promise of the land according to these boundaries, is not arrived. This is the only conclusion a believer in the gospel of the kingdom can come to. All theories opposed to this are mere sublimated infidelity. If Israel be not restored then the promise to Abraham will have failed. But Abraham’s seed are under no apprehension of this kind. They believe in God, who has sworn by Himself, that what He has promised He is able, wllling, and determined, to perform. Here, then, is a noble domain, lying between Assyria, Persia, Arabia, the Red Sea, Egypt, and the Mediterranean; capable, when peopled by an industrious, enlightened, and well and strongly governed, nation, of commanding the commerce and sovereignty of Asia, and the wealth of Europe and America. Such is the land, containing, according to the survey of the British government, 300,000 square miles, concerning which God said to Abram, “to thee will I give it and unto thy see for ever.”

SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles Seniors Raising Grandchildren For many seniors, retirement plans can change instantly when it becomes apparent that they’ll need to raise their grandchildren. The reasons this can happen are many, and none of them good: parental drug use, arrest and incarceration, a dangerous military assignment, alcoholism and even death of the parents. The potential complications can be immediate: You have no extra room because you downsized, you’re in a strict 55-plus seniors community, you’re on a very limited Social Security budget, your health isn’t great ... and so much more. If you’re a senior who’s now in this position, you’re not alone. It’s estimated that 3 million children are being raised by grandparents. But help is available. Start with the Child Welfare Information Gateway (www.childwelfare. gov) and scroll to your state. Ask about Medicaid for Children, SNAP benefits, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and Supplemental Security Income for children. Raising Your Grandchildren (www.raisingyourgrandchildren.com) has a wealth of information. State Resources, for example, will take you to social workers, support groups and programs in your state. The legal aspect of raising your grandchildren can’t be ignored because it will impact all parts of your life. What you’re providing is called Kinship Care. Be sure you understand the differences between Formal, Informal, Temporary and Voluntary. Formal Kinship Care, for example, means the state has legal custody of the child but he lives with you. State laws vary, and you’ll have caseworkers, court appointments and more. Informal Kinship Care, on the other hand, leaves the courts and caseworkers out of your lives, but legal custody remains with the parents. That can be a problem when it comes to getting the child medical care and enrolling them in school. The only financial assistance you might be eligible for is TANF. Raising grandchildren is not easy. Get all the help and support you can.

This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

GRILLED CALIFORNIA SWEET POTATOES (NAPSI)—The next time you’re firing up the outdoor grill (or indoor grill pan, for that matter), throw on a sweet potato or two. An easy, healthy side dish with a huge wow factor, grilled sweet potatoes are nutrient rich, high in fiber and absolutely delicious. And they go great with burgers, steaks, chops, chicken or pretty much anything off the grill. Start with this basic recipe, and if you’re feeling creative, try different shapes—sweet potato coins or steak fries, for example. Or add your favorite herbs and spices—such as chopped fresh rosemary, thyme, cinnamon or smoked paprika.

FLU-FIGHTING TIPS: Food can be used to fend of the flu. Common foods that many people already have in their pantries can be powerful flu-fighters. Garlic, for example, contains compounds that have direct antiviral effects and may help destroy the flu before it affects the body. Raw garlic is best. In addition to garlic, citrus fruits, ginger, yogurt, and dark leafy greens can boost immunity and fight the flu, according to Mother Nature’s Network. The British Journal of Nutrition notes that dark chocolate supports T-helper cells, which increase the immune system’s ability to defend against infection.

Grilled Sweet Potatoes Serves 3 or 4 1 lb orange- or yellow/white-fleshed sweet potatoes, cut lengthwise into ¾-inch wedges 1 ½ Tbsp olive oil 1 tsp salt, plus more for sprinkling Heat a grill or grill pan to mediumhigh. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine sweet potatoes, oil and salt. Arrange sweet potatoes on the grill or grill pan and cook until lightly charred and tender, 6 to 8 minutes, turning halfway through. Sprinkle with more salt and serve. For more recipes, nutritional information and tips for cooking with California sweetpotatoes, go to www.casweetpotatoes.com.

Can Mushroom Microdose Help With Depression?

Topics include domestic violence and other related issues. • Mondays: 1-2:30pm Mt. Morris

---

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am battling depression and have a question about psilocybin. I stopped taking Effexor for my depression because I did not like the side effects. I also tried SAM-e, which had only a small effect. So, for the past three months I have been trying cognitive behavioral therapy, using certain tactics. I’ve cut back my days of work and avoid all news when not on the job. I stringently avoid social media. I don’t put myself into situations that I know will upset me. I am also limiting my alcohol consumption. Lately I’ve been reading about how microdosing the psilocybe mushroom can elevate or change moods for the better. I would like to know your opinion on the use of psilocybin for depression. It seems to be gaining traction, but my fear is that it can bring on degrees of psychosis. -- S.M. ANSWER: I found two studies on psilocybin, a naturally occurring chemical in 200 or so species of mushrooms, especially those of the genus psilocybe. One study from 2016 was in 29 people with cancer, and anxiety and depression: 60%-80% had “clinically significant reductions in depression or anxiety.” Another study (also from 2016) treated 12 patients with treatment-resistant depression with two doses of psilocybin, and their depression scores were reduced by more than half at five weeks. All 12 patients had adverse effects, usually mild, such as headache, nausea or confusion. Two patients had paranoia. All adverse effects lasted less than a day. While I am optimistic that this might lead to an additional option for therapy, these are very small studies. Further, the authors of the second study note “patients have taken pharmaceutical grade compounds of known strength and purity, under the supervision of trained therapists.” The authors and research institution “cannot advise on the procurement of illegal psychoactive substances, nor can we recommend self-medication.” I can’t emphasize that enough. ***

Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to ToYourGoodHealth@med.cornell.edu. © 2021 North America Synd., Inc. All Rights Reserved GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA Dementia presents itself through various symptoms, and memory loss alone is not enough to lead to a dementia diagnosis. Dementia can affect thinking and social abilities, but the Mayo Clinic notes that some dementias may be reversible. The following are some common symptoms of dementia: • Trouble communicating or finding words. • Difficulty completing complex tasks. • Challenges with planning and organization. • Episodes of confusion and disorientation. • Memory loss, which is often noticed by a third party. • Personality changes that can include agitation, anxiety, inappropriate behavior and even hallucinations. Apart from Alzheimer’s disease, which is a progressive disorder most common in people age 65 and older, there are other types of dementia. The second most common is called “vascular dementia.” This results from damage to vessels that supply blood to the brain. This damage can be the result of stroke, smoking and other blood vessel conditions. Brain imaging can often detect blood vessel problems implicated in vascular dementia. Dementia with Lewy bodies, or DLB, is another dementia that laymen may mistake for Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association notes that people with DLB often have not only memory loss and cognitive problems common in Alzheimer’s, but they also display initial or early symptoms such as sleep disturbances, well-formed visual hallucinations, slowness, gait imbalance or other Parkinsonian movement features, which can lead to misdiagnosis.

Keeping newborn babies safe is a priority for mothers, fathers and other caregivers. Various ailments can afflict newborns, and one many new parents may be unfamiliar with is respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. According to Hackensack Meridian Health, RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization of babies younger than one year of age in the United States. RSV produces symptoms similar to the common cold or the flu and can include runny nose, cough and trouble breathing. In severe cases, particularly in infants, a baby may need to be hospitalized if his or her breathing is greatly compromised. Examples of severe infections include bronchiolitis (an inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia. RSV also can affect adults, but healthy adults are usually only affected by mild symptoms, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In such instances, recovery can take between one and two weeks. Researchers are looking into immunizing pregnant women against RSV as a way to help protect babies from the virus.

NOW HERE'S A TIP By JoAnn Derson * “Shaving cream can be used as a spot remover for many carpets. Use only a small amount, and follow up with a damp cloth.” -- D.L. in New Brunswick, Canada * Here’s a great rule of thumb in the kitchen: The quicker it cooks, the more direct the heat. So, for a thin piece of steak that’ll cook quickly, a cast-iron pan fry will do nicely. For a thicker cut of, say, chicken, you should bake at a lower temp for a longer time. * To rid a shirt of a deodorant stain, sponge plain white vinegar onto the residue and rub briskly. * “Need sliced mushrooms for your salad or recipe? They are hard to cut, but you might already have the perfect tool for the job in your kitchen. If you have an egg slicer, get it out. It works very well for mushrooms, and it’s easier to use than trying to cut those slices yourself.” -- J.R. in Utah

Ways to Become More Active Every Day In addition to working toward at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week, it’s important to avoid being sedentary, when possible. You can do that by making choices that build activity in your day. Some examples include: • Taking the stairs • Printing to the printer farthest away from your desk at work • Getting off the bus or subway one stop early • Parking in the farthest space from the door • Walking around while you are on the phone or having walking meetings

* Got an ink stain? Try using the ubiquitous nowadays (thankfully) hand sanitizer! Apply a little sanitizer to the ink stain, then use a clean, dry white rag to blot, checking the rag often and moving to a different spot on the rag as it takes up the ink. * To get clothing really clean, don’t overfill your washer. Oftentimes, we want to get the laundry done quickly by stuffing in as much as possible, thereby reducing the number of loads. But if there isn’t enough space for everything to move about, it can actually keep the clothing from getting clean. Never fill more than three-fourths full. LIVINGSTON EDITION

HOW TO BE MORE COURTEOUS WHILE DINING OUT Recognize that servers have nothing to do with the wait time for a table. Do not take your frustration out on the server if it takes awhile before you’re seated.

Pizza continues to remain a popular comfort food and go-to staple for quick, family-friendly meals. Statistics Brain reports that 93 percent of Americans eat at least one piece of pizza per month. Five billion pizzas are sold worldwide each year, and the United States accounts for three billion of those pizzas. The average person will eat 46 slices of pizza each year. The world can thank Raffaele Esposito for creating the first pizza that resembled the pizza the world knows today. Esposito created the pizza for Italy’s Queen Margherita when she visited Naples in 1889. The crust was garnished with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil to represent the national colors of Italy: red, white and green.

LOCAL DINING SPOTS FOSTER COMMUNITY Crowd control: Local restaurants tend to be smaller and more intimate than many chain restaurants. This can translate into a calm dining experience. When crowds are small, the noise level inside the restaurant may be muted and service may be fast because there aren’t as many tables to serve. Furthermore, local establishments, although concerned about making a profit, may be less worried about table turnover rate, preferring to let diners linger if it means repeat business.

Now Taking Easter Reservations!

HEALTH BENEFITS OF HONEY Has antibacterial and antifungal properties: According to the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand, honey is antibacterial. Honey will not foster growth of these microorganisms because it contains small amounts of hydrogen peroxide. Because of these properties, some people say that honey can help disorders such as ulcers and bacterial gastroenteritis, or other conditions where fungi and bacteria grow unchecked.

TACKLING THE ULTIMATE WORKFORCE CHALLENGE

This event will uphold NYS COVID-19 guidelines.

(NAPSI)—Today, many people in business talk of diversity fatigue, says Barbara Adams, PsyD, author of “Women, Minorities, & Other Extraordinary People: The New Path for Workforce Diversity” (Greenleaf Book Group Press). But, she adds, that means “we’ve momentarily lost sight of the magnitude of opportunity before us.” Her book can serve people in leadership positions who recognize, “the tremendous strategic value of having diverse, inclusive workforces,” but have struggled to commit to it. For all the many well-meaning diversity initiatives that organizations have undertaken lately, “personal mindsets and beliefs are what count,” she writes. “People in leadership positions,” Dr. Adams adds, “have the ability to replace judgment and bias that naturally occur in us with curiosity about differences.” And that, she concludes, is “truly the beginning of embracing the opportunity that lies in workforce diversity and inclusion” and can make companies and organizations more successful.

The Town of Conesus is seeking individuals to serve on the

Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

Her book reframes the journey ahead through an organizational lens, highlighting the importance of cultural norms, challenging misconceptions, and providing research and practical tools. Learn More: For further facts about Dr. Adams and a look at her new book, go to www.drbarbadams.com and https://greenleafbookgroup.com.

There are openings for alternates. If you are a previous applicant, please just forward a letter of your continued interest. If you have not applied previously, please send a letter of interest with a resume. Please forward to dwester@town.conesus.ny.us or amcninch@town.conesus.ny.us no later than close of business Monday, April 5, 2021.

Grateful To the person(s) who paid for my lunch at Canal View Restaurant in Newark on Wednesday, March 4, about 11:00am, thank you! It was very thoughtful and much appreciated, and the lunch was delicious A grateful customer Thank you! While traveling up Rochester Street in Avon, I wasn’t paying attention to my speed.... which I believe was increasing. An Avon police officer was sitting along the street, and upon noticing me, he flashed his lights as a warning. This was much appreciated as I wasn’t way over the speed limit, and driving a minivan, I wasn’t exactly racing! Thank you for the warning as I believe it’s a great way to slow traffic without giving a ticket. Very professional!

Local COVID clinic I took my mom to the Rochester Regional Health Covid mass vaccination site, a drive thru clinic, at Unity Hospital on Long Pond Rd., Gates/ Greece. It was very well organized, and the nursing staff, which they all were, were very friendly and explained the procedure and the necessary paperwork very well. They set up garage-like pole barns to drive in, and you didn't even need to get out of the car, which is excellent for those with mobility issues. The vaccines were well protected to keep them fresh. It took a total of 30 minutes from the time we got there to the time we left, and that includes the time they had us wait after the shot was given to make sure no negative reaction occurred. This should be the example to use for all future mass vaccination sites. We go back in 3 weeks.

Let it go? I wish I could say your rant surprised me. But it was expected. Do you also make the same demands of your fellow Americans when they leave holiday decorations up on their personal property once the holiday is past? The level of control you yearn for is available...just in other countries. Keep hope alive though; [the government] is working diligently to procure the level of personal control you desire. Campaign flags A flag that says 'Vote 2020" with a name is not just a flag. Those flags are 'campaign' flags and are supposed to have been removed within 7 days of said election. Trump lost. Cut out the 'vote 2020' and keep your flag flying; otherwise, remove the flag! Election people should be asking for removal of said flags after almost 4 months. There is as difference!

Tired teacher To the reader who wrote, "There is no way teachers are doing their full jobs when schools are barely open" - you are wrong! Teachers are working harder than ever. Many teachers have students in front of us and students virtually at the same time! On the occasions when all students can't be taught at the same time, we are pre-recording lessons for those at home to view independently and then teaching it to the students in the classroom. In classes such as science, teachers are having students at home do one thing and students in the classroom do something hands-on and then flipping the work when the kids flip later in the week. Then there are some kids that attend 4 days a week, so that is another thing to manage. Until you have been in our shoes, don't you dare say, "teacher vacation."

CREATE AN ENDURING MEMORIAL FOR A LOVED ONE Create a scholarship fund. What better way to honor a loved one’s memory than to create an avenue to help others in his or her name? Scholarship funds are an ideal way to honor a deceased loved one. Work with the deceased person’s alma mater to establish a scholarship at that school.

Livonia: At age 84, Marjorie Jean Benson passed peacefully at her home on March 8, 2021. She was born on February 15, 1937 in Arkport, NY to the late Harold and Nellie (Burd) Polmanteer. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband, Wayne J. Benson, in 2012 and her grandson, Joseph Milczarek. Marjorie and Wayne met in the late 1950s at a dance in Wayland, NY. Marjorie and Wayne were together for 54 years, and she had lived alone since Wayne passed. Marjorie enjoyed writing, public speaking, and art in school. She was also a skilled artist in paint, chalk and pencil drawing. Among her favorite creative things to do was sewing, making clothes, baby blankets and Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren. “We always had homemade pies, cookies and cakes at home; mom did her best to show us how much she loved us.” She is survived by children, Darlene (Rick) Pulsifer of TN, Karen Godfrey (Frank Krisko) of Livonia, Larry Benson (Dawn Faulkner) of Livonia, Cheri Parkhouse (Christian Burger) of Avon, Homer “Jay” (Brandy) Benson of FL, and Wayne Benson of FL; grandchildren, Kylee Milczarek, Sean Godfrey, Samantha Godfrey, Russell Parkhouse, Arielle Parkhouse, Mariah Dickerson, Leslie Benson, Sierra Benson, Elijah Benson, Caryn Benson, Kyle Cherry, Kevin Benson, and Katlin Benson; greatgrandchildren, Arora Bellisario, Deklan Thomas, Weston Thomas, and Gavin Thomas; siblings, Phyllis Cox and Bill Polmanteer; also survived by many family and friends. At this time no formal funeral services will be held, a private family gathering will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the Teresa House, 21 Highland Road, Geneseo, NY or Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450. “Nine of every ten people improve on acquaintance…” ~ Frank Swinnerton Although we will never know the identity of Swinnerton’s acquaintances, we can readily see the truth in his statement. We may not react favorably to everyone when first we meet them. Some people, in fact, may strike us initially as being quite unlikeable. When we get to know these people better, for whatever reason, we discover hidden qualities that we like and admire. We find that their unpleasant aspects are not really too objectionable after all. It is wise to give every new acquaintance a chance to improve in our estimation. You can spare your loved ones the burden of making painful decisions under stress by making your own funeral arrangements prior to need. Ask us to explain the advantages.

CHALLENGES OF GOING REMOTE WITH YOUR BUSINESS CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ensuring customers can seamlessly connect with your business, and your customer service staff in particular, should be a priority when switching to a remote work setting. Remote customer service employees won’t have the direct access to management and fellow team members that they had when working on-site, so business owners can employ central management platforms that make it easy to access information regarding new products and services and previous interactions with and responses to customers. That access can help solve issues while reducing the likelihood of substantial lag time as customer service employees wait to hear from coworkers and managers about how to respond to certain issues.
